I am always perplexed remembering that when some people think of ciri they don't have this vision of a genderweird cheeky, angry, feral beastie who's naruto running through space and time while giving the middle finger to her destiny as baby mama to the chosen one.
like wdym there are people who imagine her raising babies as some dude's dream housewife. My girl ciri is in some other universe loving and leaving somebody's mom right now. She's a swashbuckling weirdo who's off doing whatever she wants wherever she wants. And that sure doesn't involve chaste, quaint monogamy with some dude.

Another banger ass take hidden in the tags, I see y'all
I really hate when people use the argument of Book/Game Dandelion is misogynistic and sexist to dislike him and prefer Netflix Jaskier over him.
It's genuinely fine to have preferences, not saying it's not okay /gen However, a lot of the time the arguments being made literally just sound like a character having flaws and being a bad person is the most horrible sin in the world, and the only way we can consume characters and media is when they have no flaws and are perfect little blorbos with nothing negative about them.
It's fine to dislike a character when they're doing bad things and have bad views, that's a-okay! It's not okay to act like a character having realistic flaws and being a bad person in their media is the worst crime known to humanity. The Witcher isn't and has never been an escapist fantasy; it's dark and realistic in how it portrays war, people, and human nature. The characters within this world are going to reflect that realism.
As much as I love Joey Batey, I do think that wiping some of that selfishness from Jaskier's character, taking away some of these flaws that he has within the books and games has done harm to the character. Dandelion... Jaskier, is selfish. That is an active part of his personality and his arc throughout the series, and we shouldn't be afraid to see characters exhibiting negative traits and navigating those types of stories.

Gamer bros: don't bring politics into The Witcher! It's an escapist fantasy world with monsters and magic, nothing more
The Witcher books: *illustrate perfectly why it is that the working class is best kept under threat of near-poverty lest they start questioning their masters and turning down work based on such pesky things as ethical concerns*

‘I shall tell you. I’ve heard that it has recently become tiresome to negotiate with you witchers. The thing is that, whenever a witcher is shown a monster to be killed, the witcher, rather than take his sword and slaughter it, begins to ponder whether it is right, whether it is transgressing the limits of what is possible, whether it is not contrary to the code and whether the monster really is a monster, as though it wasn’t clear at first glance. It seems to me that you are simply doing too well. In my day, witchers didn’t have two pennies to rub together, just two stinking boots. They didn’t question, they slaughtered what they were ordered to, whether it was a werewolf, a dragon or a tax collector. All that counted was a clean cut. So, Geralt?’

I need everyone to know that when I say JASKIER I don’t mean DANDELION.
Dandelion is split between the games/books as far as I can tell (idk I’ve never played the games)
Jaskier on the other hand is entirely centralized to the Netflix show
Despite being the “same character” If you where to introduce jaskier as he is, in the books he would believably be a completely separate character from dandelion, because the Netflix writers butchered the character so hard it’s unrecognizable other than “oh he’s a bard” (although you could argue they all got that treatment but J a s k i e r in particular got the short end of the bargain)
And I don’t say this to particularly wound any jaskier enjoyers, but it’s at the point where you’re actively claiming the parts of the witcher that make the franchise unique and y’know, actually a good story, as the BAD parts. This whole thing was never about fantasy escapism, quite on the contrary, if you wanted lighthearted fun then you came to the wrong place

I’ve said it before, but Triss Merigold and Dandelion are inversions of each other, not mirrors.
Triss is polite and genial but succumbs to her cowardice and selfishness, while Dandelion is abrasive, rude, self-obsessed, yet proves to be valiantly heroic and the strongest individual pillar of support that Geralt has.
Triss overlooks and devalues her love for Yennefer (and Ciri, and Geralt, and ect.) in a way that Dandelion is literally incapable of when it comes to his love and friendship with Geralt. This really matters narratively too, because once Triss commits to the lodge, Yennefer is left dangerously alone while Geralt gets his hansa.
If Yennefer had a Dandelion, maybe she wouldn’t have ended up in Stygga, maybe she could have spent the winter in Toussaint (or whatever Toussaint means to her), maybe, maybe, maybe. But she didn’t, she had a Triss.
It’s why the shared final shot in Lady of the Lake is so wild to me. Triss and Dandelion have completed their character arcs and are standing right there next to each other on the exact same beach. But only Triss is doomed and burdened by the guilt of this violence (Guilt that she can climb out of and grow from, sure, but it’s a grave she earned and dug herself, eyes wide open).
Meanwhile, Dandelion is free to move forward into the peace and comfort of mourning his friend. There is no blood on his hands.
It’s like this to me:
