i used to get tripped up by medical questionnaires with questions like "in the last 14 days..." because i would sit there and think "well in the last 14 days ive been on top of my medication so never", or "in the last 14 days i havent done the thing that would cause this symptom to happen"
my suggestion for that is: those questions are asking what symptoms are impacting your life generally, within recent history. if one of the questions asks about a symptom that would've happened if you didnt take your medication or a symptom that would've happened if you had a really busy day, or anything like that, answer with the worst case scenario in mind. because there may be days where something happens and it makes your symptoms worse.
recent impactful medical history can be more than the two weeks they often ask about, so reframe it in your head to think of the last month or two. these wordings assume someone with a regular life pattern that is likely to cause these symptoms to show, but if you're experiencing something that's causing you issues, you might not have a regular life pattern.
if youre like me and have chronic pain for example, you might already adapt your schedule to plan for intense days and thus avoid the symptoms entirely - but if you need help then they need to know that you experience these if you're not avoiding them yourself.
another one: questions phrased as "on a scale of 1 to 5 how often do you..." - for these i personally tend to consider them more of a "level of impact" scale rather than a "literally how often", because a lot of times the thing im being asked about is something i experience but each symptom might be worse than others.
this can also help with situations where you get a question asking about anxiety (for example), you answer truthfully that its a 5/5 and the person tells you that you just have anxiety and nothing else, resulting in you not getting the help you actually need since they start to assume all your other symptoms are psychosomatic* (created or made significantly worse by mental stress alone).
this is particularly common in autism/ADHD and chronic pain surveys, since telling you that you're "just too worried, calm down and all the other stuff will stop happening" is easier* than actually investigating your potential autism/ADHD/pain. tell them you have anxiety, sure, but if its not your biggest concern, drop it down by a point or two so they don't make it into the only problem. you can always bring up your anxiety later as an additional thing
(* psychosomatic problems are real and do not inherently mean that you are "making it up", nor does it inherently mean the medical professional doesn't care. however, if a medical professional tells you that you're "just worried" and "should try some relaxation strategies" every time you try to bring up a symptom that isn't anxiety, or depression, or whatever, then they are a bad medical professional and you should consider seeking a second - or third - opinion)
When I was younger and researching the autism diagnosis criteria and symptoms, I thought “oh I couldn’t POSSIBLY be autistic.” Because when I read “takes everything literally” I thought it literally meant EVERYTHING and I was like “I don’t take EVERYTHING literally, just most things!” And I just realized the other day that it didn’t actually mean EVERYTHING and that was an overstatement.

You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.
By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.
I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?

the archival projects have until may 15th to reliably get everything from the site, and an unknown amount of time to get things from the rest of the internet. im not going to shut up about it.

There have been several "download everything you can because it's so getting deleted" posts wrt to RT being shut down next month so I would like to draw your attention to the Archive of Pimps. People have been working very hard to archive the entire Rooster Teeth catalogue (including First content) and while most of it has been backed up the to Internet Archive they could use help with organizing it. Instead of a bunch of people individually downloading different videos sporadically to their own machines, check to see if the videos you want are already on the archive and you can download them from there and if you might like to help organize.

“Rooster Teeth had a lot of issues as evidenced by the allegations past employees have come forward with” and “Warner Bros is fucking evil for axing an entire company and letting some of its employees find out via tweet” are statements that can and should coexist.
Like. It’s not some gotcha that RT is shutting down. It’s not some vindictive justice that this Big Bad Company is gone now. Projects are now canceled. People will be fired from their jobs. And because it’s Warner Bros. it’s only a matter of time before all those animation projects (RvB, RWBY, Camp Camp, every single episode of anything they made) is scrubbed off of the internet.
It’s gonna be the same thing that happened with HBO Max. It’s gonna be the same thing with the Coyote vs. Acme movie and Batgirl.
RT going down is not the thing you should be lording over people. RT going down should not be some ammo for your “RWBY is mid” takes. RT going down is not some “I always knew it was cringe” meme. Real people are gonna be effected by this. People will lose this jobs and will lose all the passion projects they worked on.
This is horrifying for the people involved in these projects and the state of animation itself. Warner Bros. only owned Rooster Teeth for 2 years. They bought them in 2022. Not even 2 full years. They didn’t even get a chance and they axed THE ENTIRE COMPANY. NOT JUST ONE SHOW. THE ENTIRE FUCKING COMPANY AND ALL ITS IPS. HOLY FUCKING SHIT. THIS IS NOT THR TIME FOR A FAN WAR.

the thing that's making me really sad about this post is that there are people in the tags only just discovering that RT is shutting down. and then others expressing concern over the youtube channels not being safe either.
i figured that almost everybody knew about the shutdown, and i thought a lot of people knew about the archival projects.
the biggest one i know about is archive of pimps (https://archiveofpimps.com/) which is trying to get every single piece of rtah content including removed content, and there are several different ways of getting rvb specifically with varying levels of completion (it's up in the internet archive/wayback machine, and there's a few different google drive rehosts being passed around too).
im not sure of any archival efforts for any RT games, and im not sure if we know if online listings for those will stay. (i also doing even know how many rt games there are exactly)
i said this in the tags of a previous reblog but i need non-rvbs to understand just how terrible the shutdown of RT is.
this is not just a case of a group of fandom weirdos being overdramatically sad about rvb or AH ending, this is a group of people angrily trying to hold onto something ephemeral that shouldnt be ephemeral.
the RT site will be wiped out of existence on the 15th of may. yes, okay, there is a logical argument that if it's losing that much money then it should go down. but it's not just the site. RT have said there's no guarantees that even the youtube accounts will remain by next year. there's a lot of content that isnt on the youtube channels now. there's even more content that was never on the youtube channels.
to people who arent into rvb, or any of RT's content, this should be a warning. this can happen to any media.
this is why media preservation is important. make backups of the stuff you love. make backups of the stuff you dont love. make backups of the stuff you hate. its important to somebody, and its important to society.
media is a reflection of people's thoughts, their hopes, their dreams. to stand and watch media be irreversibly removed because it is deemed "unworthy" is to go against the concept of media creation itself.
yes a lot of RT content is shadowed by the company's underlying toxic culture, but you cannot argue that this company and the content they made is responsible for so many great things.
this isnt a fandom thing. this is a media preservation thing.
