I close my eyes and the morphine reveals surreal landscapes like those of Tanguy or Dalí but made from fragments of Moorish tiles. They move quickly across my closed eyelids. I want to pause them or photograph them with my mind but they move too rapidly. My head feels heavy and l am glad it is resting on the pillow. The fan beats rhythmically. It’s four in the morning and the world is still.
