Apologies for the repeated delays. I've been having a rough time lately and between just being extremely busy and being exhausted, I haven't been able to write at all in the last two weeks. When I did have some time yesterday, of course the only thing I actually had motivation to work on was one of my original works, so still no progress on my unfinished fics. This does not mean I'm abandoning them, I promise. I really do want to finish them, I even have the ending of Shifting Gears plotted out, I just need the be able to write. Relatedly, I really wish I could share the progress on my original works, because the positive response my fics get really does help encourage me to keep writing. I really can't thank y'all enough for that.

I’ve been feeling very emotional about my old dog recently. When I got him we were both young, but now I’m still young and he’s very old. How does he feel about that? Does he understand?

When we were both young and he would get covered in mud from playing outside, I would wash him off with cold water from the hose or my mother wouldn’t let him come back into the house. He hated it, but I would tell him, “it’s ok. I’m doing this because I love you,” and he would let me. Now, it’s been so long since then and so much has changed. I live in my own house and he still lives with me. He has started to develop incontinence, but I clean up after him without complaint because I love him. And when I lift him gently into the bathtub and wash him with warm water, I tell him, “it’s ok. I’m doing this because I love you,” and he looks me in the eye with his own that are mostly covered by cataracts now and he nudges me with his nose and I think he understands.

I’ve been relistening to the Magnus Archives. I never actually finished it because it was coming out when I caught up the first time and I’m terrible at keeping up with things as they come out, but I listened to enough to recognize the very impressive foreshadowing in the earlier seasons. I had kind of forgotten, but it’s a really damn good podcast and I’m having a great time catching up again.

I finished the fourth part of Diverted Route. It was incredible, I really liked how you pushed farther the concept of deshumanization and how even with help, sometimes people are just too late and it is harder to heal. It is really well written.

I also began (and almost finished part 2) of Off the Rails. I want to read your previous works to work up to the more recent ones. I find it amazing. I could see at first the differences in your writing style, but it was as much compelling as Diverted Route. I loved this new concept, all the story you made around it, and really liked how you wrote each relationship (the strain of the time, separations and life threatening events).

Now, I am slowly beginning your fangame, and I have a few questions on Diverted Route. But maybe, if it is alright with you, I could DM you about those?

That's very sweet of you. I'm having a hard time in my personal life, admittedly, but I'm doing my best to get through it.

I'm glad to hear you liked it! I really enjoyed getting to write that alternate look on how things might go if things took a little bit longer and got a little worse.

I'm also glad to hear you're liking the older works as well! I've gone back and read through them occasionally, and you can definitely tell where my writing style has changed (and improved, I think). When I started writing Unknown Tracks, I hadn't written anything in over two years and that was the first fanfiction I ever wrote, so my skills were pretty rusty. It's kind of amazing how much that's kickstarted my drive to write, and even if I still haven't done much with my original works, I feel like it's been great for my mental health as well as my writing skills.

I stumbled upon your work in ao3 "Diverted Route". And I just love it. I read all the 3 first parts in 5 hours, and I enjoyed every moment of it. I find it amazing how you wrote just everything : how Ingo turns feral, Lady Sneasler, just Emmet, the process of trying to get back to humanity. (Sorry I struggle with words) Everything feels real and relatable. Especially when Ingo says he doesn't know how to be human.

If one day I am motivated enough, if I have your permission, I would like to make a fangame of your fic (crediting you ofc). That's how much I loved your fic.

I'm so glad you loved Diverted Route so much! It was honestly one of my favorite fics to write, which is why I ended up writing four parts instead of the two I initially planned.

And, I don't know really anything about game making, but if you need any help with like, dialogue or scene setting let me know. Ugh, I'm stuck in some kind of ADHD hell-loop. I'm stressed as hell because my house if falling apart and my paycheck is short because my manager fucking sucks so I can't even pay someone to come out and fix it (I'm a decent electrician but I'm not a fucking miracle worker so I can't do it myself). I want to write but I can't focus on it, and when I try to do something else, I feel like I should be writing so I can't focus on that either. It's the worst feeling and I know why it's happening but sometimes it feels like my brain is holding me hostage and I fucking hate it.

Trying to decide how hard I should go for my Febuwhump fic. One of the prompts is "killing in self-defense" and I have a solid idea for it, but it's... a lot? I guess? I mean, of course it is with that prompt. I'm just trying to decide if I should replace it with one of the alternate prompts instead. Like, I do think it would make a good story, it's just a bit darker than I was hoping to go with this.
