Part 1/3 of the Kelly Files: teas 6 science notes by Kelly

I’m not the original creator of these notes. They were originally shared in a free teas study group on fb but have since been removed. I’ve seen them be posted on several pay sites so I decided to share them here freely as intended.
Although these were created for the teas 6, I still believe the information can be helpful for those studying for the teas 7.

8/21: tomorrow is my first day of nursing school and I’m very nervous and very scared 😅
But incredibly excited!! I can’t wait until I can officially call myself a nurse… 💜

Edit 7/28: I took the teas 6 at the end of may right before the teas 7 was released. I just wanted to add some things I saw on the test to help anybody that may be looking for what exactly to study for. I’m not exactly sure how much the two tests differ from each other, but this is what I remember from mine. I passed and I start my nursing program next month 💕
MATH: math is my worst subject, but somehow it was my highest score!!! it covered proportions, percentages, percentage increase/decrease, writing a problem from words (“three times 5 is greater than 4”), percent to decimal, decimal to percent, adding/subtracting, multiplying fractions, and the foil method. I also got the infamous pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters question (Basically everything on the test was covered in Brandon Craft’s Teas Videos and The Organic Chemistry Tutor’s teas math review video!!!)
READING: identifying main idea, supporting details, author’s purpose/tone (persuade, inform. Etc) identifying expository, persuasive, narrative, etc. Primary and secondary source. I had a strange question that gave me a bunch of letters and you basically had to follow the directions of changing them around to get the right answer. Overall, pretty simple. My advice would be to study and just take practice tests.
SCIENCE: I had several basic body system questions. for example one asked about which system was associated with fighting infections or something similar. Parts of the CNS. I had questions about the blood flow to the heart, and where it travels. Questions about back muscles(??) BONE REPAIR STEPS. I had several questions on random diseases and stuff like one asked me which of the following bacteria was “spherical shaped” and I guessed that it was staph? lol I had a few chemistry questions. I can’t remember the choices but it was basically asking me which element had the lowest of something, but It didn’t give me the numbers or anything just the letters :( lol so I guessed on that one as well. It asked me about hypertonic solution, ionic/covalent bonding, I had a question about what happens when Ice is placed in water. There were a few scenarios where it asked which variables were the independent and dependent variables. I remember something about combustion? I also had a few cell questions regarding the functions, protein synthesis, dna/rna, etc. Overall my advice would be to just study the body systems as much as you can because that’s the majority of the questions or at least it was for me. You really need a good understanding of chemistry if you want a really good score. I passed and I literally had no idea what those questions were. The ati study manual is definitely not thorough enough!!!! The Kelly files were incredibly helpful! If you don’t have them, please don’t buy them online. They are free and located in most teas study group files on Facebook. I will try to post them later this week.
ENGLISH/LANGUAGE USAGE: lots of punctuation questions like where an apostrophe/parentheses would be used. Identifying sentence types, few questions on identifying the correct spelling of a word, subject/verb agreement. It seems very simple, but it can get very tricky. I was surprised how low my score was for this section. So don’t skip out on studying this portion!!!
