To answer your question, yes I think he had. My vibes for Tom in that story were that he was very much in his manic vindictive phase immediately after finding the chamber and (in his mind) proving his own fantasies about his identity and superiority all true, but before he becomes so confident and flagrant with this sense of surety in his superior that he gets arrogant and careless like we see later. I think this is a super untapped part of his story, when he's basically high off the discovery of his connection to the one thing he's always been denied and looked down upon for lacking, and he's also coming to enjoy just how powerful a weapon it is in his arsenal.

So ya, in that story he's in the hyper emotional high post chamber pre violence.
