Lena lets out a careful breath and says, “James and I have decided to end our— association.”
What a perfectly weird and roundabout way to describe the end of a romantic relationship, Kara thinks. “Oh?” she says, aptly demonstrating her own comparative lack of eloquence.
It earns her one of Lena’s crinkly smiles at least, affection clear on her best friend’s face. “Should I feel offended that you don’t seem all that surprised?” she flusters.
“No,” Kara says, “I am,” and she is, is the thing, she's actually stunned, but she’s something else, much more than that.
She’s elated.
“Bummer,” Kara says.

In which Kara makes a tiny new enemy, Alex has an actual functioning gaydar, and Lena breaks up with James only to immediately start dating someone else. And Kara is fine! Except for the part where she’s really, really not.

i believe, we can reach the morning light (COMPLETE)
HAPPY SUPERCORP SUNDAY I've spent way too long fussing over this chapter so I just need to fire it into the void - 70s AU from Lena's POV is now finished! I hope it's as unexpectedly fun to read as it was to write, because I had a great time!
“I need to talk to you,” Kara says firmly, before Lena has gotten more than a few stuttered words out. Her lips are a soft pink, the bottom one reddened from nervous biting, and her brows are light and less shaped than before. The smattering of light freckles across the bridge of her nose are on full display, and her eyelashes are soft and bright without the weight of her mascara. It makes Lena’s heart ache anew. She wrings her hands, focusing on the pool again. It hurts too much to look at Kara directly.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“I know it isn’t,” Kara says, reaching down to tug at Lena’s sleeve. The almost-touch is enough to make her heart jump. “But I need to.”
“Kara…” Lena whispers, glancing behind Kara out of pure habit. Mike has been the spectre at every party Kara has attended, always somewhere waiting to drag Kara home; it seems improbable that Kara would have brought him here, but even so the possibility of him appearing in a rage isn’t out of the question.
Like she’s read Lena’s mind Kara grabs for her hand, seemingly unaware of how that simple act rips apart Lena’s resolve, and tugs until she follows. Lena couldn’t resist if she tried – Kara leads them past the dance floor, past a group of people determinedly trying to fashion a bong out of one of Lena’s vases, and into the privacy of the hall closet.
Unfortunately, that privacy comes at the price of needing to stand so close that Lena can feel the heat of Kara’s body through their clothing.

Changes - 24.
Andrea sighs and mutes her call as Lena slips into the home office, despising the work week ahead before it can even officially begin. Time zone differences are the bane of her existence and it doesn’t seem like her workload is about to calm down at any point soon.
Which, really, had been the whole point, but now that things are changing, she wishes she could just pass on the company to some eager intern and forget about it for a while.
“Hey there,” Lena murmurs, her smile tired as she lowers herself into Andrea’s waiting lap. “Kara’s fine and in her bedroom, but she seems a little worked up about the new woman working in your kitchen.” She pecks Andrea’s lips, “I told her that I would discuss her concerns with you and that she should stay away from her until we’ve sorted all of this out.”
“Hmmm, Siobhan does seem a little too eager to spend time with her,” Andrea nods. “She could easily just be an annoying social butterfly, but I don’t particularly like it.”
Andrea wraps her arms around Lena’s waist and holds her close, resting her cheek against Lena’s upper arm with a sigh. “She was vetted before she was even interviewed for the position and her references are impeccable, but I don’t know… something feels a little off.” Andrea sucks her teeth, “no matter what, this is Kara’s home and it has to be somewhere she can feel safe.”
“She was a little worried about your reaction,” Lena quietly says. “You’ve spanked her in the past for run-ins with the employees?”
Andrea frowns and struggles to ignore the guilt that stirs in her gut.
“Yes, but Kara understandably brought an attitude home with her,” she murmurs. “It took her a while to accept the rules and expectations and sometimes she would be disrespectful to those around her. It makes sense because, you know, it sucks that this all even happened,” Andrea shrugs, “but it has taken me a while to accept that Kara should never have been brought here in the first place.”
She can feel Lena watching her, but Andrea can’t bring herself to meet those pretty green eyes.

"Sometimes, Lena," her mother used to tell her with a faraway look in her eyes, "life doesn’t go how you plan.”

Andrea can hear her suckling her neck, and can feel the blood being pulled from her veins. She grows weaker, pins and needles settling in her limbs. She’s going to die at the hands of the beauty she befriended a mere two days ago, and there’s nothing Andrea can do about it.
Her senses are muted. The jazz music from the bar just through the wall fades into nothing as Andrea feels the life slip from her depleted body. Then, everything stops.

Supercorptober 2022 Day 25: Comfy

Lena just can’t get comfortable. Which isn’t surprising, considering she has a small human growing inside her, and she wouldn’t change that for the world, but it doesn’t change the fact that she’s incredibly uncomfortable right now.
“I have an idea,” Kara says, pressing a kiss to Lena’s temple before she stands. She helps situate another pillow beside Lena, which helps a little, before Kara steps away. “I’ll be right back.”
Lena watches as Kara disappears down the hallway, and hears her enter the bathroom and then the sound of running water. Lena sits back and waits, trying to relax in the meantime.
Kara returns not long later, extends her hand towards Lena. “Come with me?”
Lena takes Kara’s extended hand and her wife helps her up. Lena’s feet hurt and her back hurts and there’s a constant pressure on her bladder but she already loves with baby growing inside her with everything she has.
Lena knows that Kara was running her a bath, but she didn’t expect the lights to be low, doesn’t expect the few candles scattered around the room or the bubbles in the bath. The scent is instantly calming, so is Kara’s hand at her lower back.
“Thank you,” Lena sighs.
Kara helps her undress, helps her pull the shirt over her head, helps undo her bra, helps steady her when she removes her pants and underwear and then Lena’s naked and she feels self-conscious for a moment, until she sees the way Kara’s eyes look over her body, the clear love in her gaze.
“You’re beautiful,” Kara smiles, and Lena knows she means it.
Lena steps over towards the bath, but is surprised when Kara slips out of her clothes too.
“You’re joining me?”
“If you want me to?”
Lena’s eyes glance over her wife’s now naked form. “Definitely.”
Kara laughs, unashamed in her own nakedness.
With steady and gentle hands, Kara helps Lena into the tub first, and then Kara climbs in behind her.
The relief is almost instant as she settles against Kara. She’s still sore, but she’s more comfortable, the pressure off her body at least.
“Better?” Kara asks, lips pressing against Lena’s shoulder, hands slipping along Lena’s sides.
“Hmmm,” Lena hums. “Much better.”
“One more month,” Kara says, hands moving over Lena’s stomach. The heat of Kara’s hands is nice, and she’s not sure if their daughter is enjoying it too, or wants it to stop, or if it’s entirely a coincidence, but the baby kicks out at Kara’s hand.
“One more month, baby,” Kara says, and Lena’s not sure if this time, Kara is talking to the baby, or to her. “I can’t wait.”
“Neither can I,” Lena says, hand settling over Kara’s. Kara is so warm and comfortable beneath her, the water warm and comforting, the smell of the candles relaxing and the soft press of Kara’s mouth to her shoulder is perfect.
It’s exactly what Lena needed.
