Hi there! Ik you're not into homestuck anymore, but I was wondering if all your old piratestuck art is posted anywhere else, since your original blog got deleted? I used to spend so long just going through that tag, cause I love your art so much. It rly sucks that Tumblr is so hellbent on censoring everything to the point of just trashing a decade or more of someone's hard work :(

sadly at the moment no, tumblr was the only place where the great majority of my Homestuck art was (along with some One Piece art and a good chunk of my early bnha art) and even though I don't think much about Homestuck and Piratestuck these days, I wanted to share these art back then and the sentiment is still true today, I really want all my old arts to still be accessible for everyone to find, even if looking at them today myself might make me cringe due to it being old and seeing all the flaws in them lmao

I know I won't reupload them on tumblr (wouldn't be able to post the sexy here anyway and I refuse to skip it), or twitter or wherever, one by one like they were posted in the past, because we're talking about hundreds, possibly close to a thousand pieces of art and doodles

what I intend to do is to sort them into a few .PDFs (by fandom? by year?) and make those available for download

it's just that. the task right now is a bit daunting, that's a lot of art to sort through! and I would also like to write some level of commentary, you know like captions to give some context, maybe some of the lore and headcanons for Piratestuck, that kinda thing! but yeah, lot of work that I'm currently a bit afraid to start on so that might be a while...

yeah there's not really a way to announce it for anyone who followed my main account but don't follow me elsewhere and didn't already know about this back-up... they'll just assume I stopped posting, or won't notice at all that's possible too.. makes me a little sad but nothing I can do about it but move on

As a fan from back in the Piratestuck days, absolutely bonkers that your blog got taken down for porn. My good mod I thought there were exceptions for art! Syb's porn has not only artistic merit but historical value to the platform!

oh man Piratestuck, and all my Homestuck art TAT I was still seeing my old Homestuck art circulating tumblr from the notifications I was getting, that's something I liked about this place! old posts weren't lost to the void of time!

I also thought they had become a little more lenient for spicy art vs photography, and I was censoring the naughty bits too just to be safe... but the signs were there really when even non-explicit new art I was posting was still getting flagged and I had to censor it more

it really feels unfair that they're so hard on artists when pornbots are still all over the place...

I'm so sorry to hear about your account! Your bonus lore in the tags has long been my favorite thing about following you here. (Unfortunately for my ability to view your art, I had to bail out of Twitter a while back for my own good — and the site is totally unusable without an account now, even following your source links directly. :( )

I hope there is a way to restore your Tumblr without too much additional headache. In case there isn't (or maybe even if there is) and you'd like somewhere you can tag ramble, may I recommend Pillowfort ( https://www.pillowfort.social/ )? It is like a hybrid of Tumblr and LiveJournal, and it's user-funded so it can host adult content without having to appease advertisers. Not only does it support tag rambles and long-form posts, but there's also per-post flagging for adult content — so users can filter without having to rely on tagging conventions.

yeahhh I'm really sad to have lost all the tags and headcanon posts too, I had a backup of my whole blog made just after the first purge but I didn't think of making a new one since, which obviously was a mistake as I shouldn't have felt safe here...

so far I haven't heard back from tumblr support so I really don't hold much hope at this point for getting it back u_u

I got a pillowfort account back in the day (SybLaTortue over there too) but I never really got to use it (everything was still new and messy back then and it didn't feel that safe a place, idk if that changed?) and starting anew somewhere is always rough... would love to hear more opinions about it (and other platforms! Cohost is another that I thought might have potential?), bit like I heard of many creators starting to post over on Bluesky before starting to crosspost there myself, I'm a bit nervous jumping into a new place if I don't see a few familiar names around haha

I was literally searching for your tumblr once I saw all the drama about the ToS and I about freaked out. ): I'm sorry your account might be deleted.. I'm hoping you'll be able to recover your stuff.

my account was in fact deleted 2 weeks ago without any warning :/ any hope to recover anything (more than the screencaps of a few cached pages I was able to save) is pretty much gone now.

My art is all safe on my computer at least, but all the captions, tags, comments, etc, those are gone and it sucks. I hope to reupload all my art again at some point, when I find a suitable place. it’ll be time-consuming (that’s 7+ years of art) but I made my art to be shared so I’m gonna share it dammit!

Have you posted your art anywhere else?? I found your deviantart but none of your newer stuff is on it (which by the way, I remember admiring a lot of the art that’s there years ago and trying to emulate it while developing my art style so that was a cool blast from the past). I’ve seen the talk about pillowfort, but Curiouscat is another application ive seen artists use!

my DA certainly is still there for very old arts, and it’ll stay there, though atm I have no intention to go back to it. it doesn’t even allow porn! I wouldn’t be happy on there haha

my twitter is still there for recent art! I’ve crossposted almost every new art I did since I made it in July, so there’s that. and wherever I end up, I’m still keeping my twitter for exposure and I’ll keep posting over there!

as for reuploading old arts, I would like to do that! but I don’t know yet how I’ll go about it... I might put a few of my fav things on twitter eventually but it’s not a great place for archiving purpose. having an image gallery where I could just dump everything and sort it with categories and tags (and maybe let guests leave comments) would be a nice thing to have on the side, if anyone know of of an easy way to do that I’m open to suggestions!

and yeah I’ll be also looking into pillowfort, I’ll keep you up to date on that o/

I follow them too! and I’ve known about curiouscat for a bit :0 I made one just now even haha, I always liked receiving questions, that’s one of the feature I’ll miss from tumblr (the other being a functional tag system), so maybe that’ll help letting me ramble about headcanons and ships and stuff on twitter :3

Omg I keep seeing so many blogs being deleted! That makes me so sad and I was looking for your art (oof l love it but the URL slipped from my memory so I was trying to find you) and I come back and it makes me sad they took it down! I hope you manage to get your old blog back!

aww yeah this whole thing is really awful, even for artists who still have their blog, now they have to live in fear?? I actually feel lucky I was one of the first to get nuked because I didn’t have to go through that.

my trust in tumblr was reduced to ashes. so, even if by some miracle they’d give me my blog back (and as I was saying, it is very unlikely at this point), I would only take the time to back up everything and redirect people to wherever else they can find me and then close it.

I have not yet heard back from tumblr but so far three friends got permanently deleted with apparently no hope of getting their blog back, and it’s very likely I’m in the same boat.

I’m doing alright! it sucks but I’ll be moving on sooner or later.

I am @SybLaTortue on twitter and for now that’s a stable place to post any new art. I’ll see later if I’ll be reuploading any old art there.

Unrelated but I noticed you were asking about Pillowfort, I thought of migrating there too but that's still a beta site. You have to make a 5$ donation to be able to make an account there, so I guess you'd have to see how many people are there so far. The user base probably isn't very big. I do agree though, I'd really miss you on here if you moved entirely someplace else.

the 5$ thing would be the least of my concern haha, from just the overview on the website it could be a really nice place, I could sort my things how I want probably~ seems it could be a really nice place for fandom in general! it’s just a matter of enough people knowing about it...

it’s basically a collection of chatrooms(channels). usually like, separated by topics?

I am... not in many servers personally, because I get overwhelmed easily when conversation includes many peoples and moves fast so I tend to just lurk and put in my two cents once in a while. also someone may @ you if they want you to not miss a thing in a conversation or something, and there’s always DMs for one-on-one chat~

if I ever made one it’d be very me-and-my-fandoms-oriented probably? like an extension of my old blog for more in-depth discussion, SybLaTortue: the sequel, or something XD probably would only see activity when I post new art haha

#the one krbk server I'm in for exemple is really lovely #I can keep track of most active peeps there and they're all v chill #made a few good friends over there #it's very well organized and there's not too many channels #and well you can always mute channels that don't interest you #you can curate your discord experience like you curate your dashboard #flamingpumpkinbi
