Also, since I was writing about how old BVB’s first album being 10 made me feel, I would like to add that I felt true euphoria when Chris Hansen started investigating Dahvie Vanity. That motherfucker has been a creep for fucking ever and I was so enraged when I learned about the Jessi Slaughter (they now go by Damien Leonhardt) situation way back in the day after googling the band when I saw him being creepy to some kids at Warped Tour

So this was me when the investigation started

I was thinking recently about how We Stitch These Wounds being 10 in 2020 made me feel fucking old

Like so fucking old

I remember going to Hot Topic the day it dropped to buy it when I was 18 and being so excited

I remember Pan friending me on MySpace in like 2009 and looking into BVB because he had a massive rant on his MySpace at the time (no idea what he’s up to these days) because he had essentially been kicked from the band (don’t remember what the reasons he stated were, but a quick google says it was because the band felt he was lazy)

I immediately lost myself in BVB, they were immediately my favorite band and have remained so ever since

And man, I see some posts and feel so old

I realize how much people have forgotten or just don’t know because it’s not necessarily relevant to the band in the long run

I saw someone who didn’t know Sandra Alva was in BVB for We Stitch These Wounds, and I had to remind myself that she hasn’t been in the band in almost 10 years, of course people wouldn’t necessarily know that

I saw someone else recently who discovered that time Andy broke his ribs and I still vividly remember waking up the next morning to a million notifications from tumblr and Twitter, and texts about “did you see what that beautiful dumbass did?!” and knowing something absurd had happened. I had the gif saved on my phone to send to my friends whenever someone was about to make a bad decision for years after that

I remember the insane hate the band and fans of the band got when they toured with MIW, because some MIW fans decided that anyone who liked BVB first must have been fake fans and only liked MIW because they had toured together and didn’t actually enjoy the music (I distinctly remember writing a Twitter note that Chris Motionless retweeted at the time basically saying, just be happy people enjoy the music, don’t hate people because they discovered the band through a tour)

My old personal blog that I ran years ago had nearly a thousand followers because for a long time all I posted about was BVB, ETF, and MIW (which also lead to problems later when people thought it was a fan blog dedicated to the bands and got mad that I posted personal stuff in it)

Like, BVB has been a major piece of my life for so long, and last year that made me feel so old

I definitely got a lot of shit for liking them, which it seems hasn’t changed much, unfortunatley, as I re-enter the fan base after keeping my distance for some time. Seems like Army Members (or Fallen Angels, or Wild Ones, we’ve had a few names over the years, though I believe Army was first) are still getting a lot of hate simply for enjoying the band, which is pretty bullshit

But at least the band is still here. It seems in my time away from the fan base and avoiding being actively involved after several very damaging experiences in my early 20s, we almost lost the band

I’m just happy I can still look to my favorite band all these years later and still find the joy they always gave me, and seems they will be for a long time

No Nuance November: Black Veil Brides Edition

Welcome back to NNN, and this version is for Black Veil Brides. Take this lightly, these are just my opinions. Unless you support Ashley Purdy, in which case this post is not for you.

1. Re-Stitch These Wounds is better than We Stitch These Wounds in almost every way.

2. The only exception to this is The Mortician’s Daughter, in which case I adore both versions.

3. Carolyn is the best song on this album, which holds a LOT of competition.

4. I desperately need to hear Lonny playing the intro to The Legacy.

5. Savior is the best song on the album, no ifs ands or buts about it. Just everything about it is pure perfection.

6. Die for You and Youth and Whisky are way too underrated.

7. Every. Single. Song. on Wretched and Divine: The Story of the Wild Ones is pure perfection.

8. Black Veil Brides IV is their most underrated album.

9. Stolen Omen is Black Veil Brides most underrated song in general.

10. Vale has a lot to be discussed for sure.

11. Throw the First Stone is more badass than anything else they’ve put out combined.

12. I could go on all day about how disgusting I think Ashley Purdy is, so I will just summarize that by saying he needs to be in prison.

13. Hearing the guitar and violin solos in their songs is an experience that can only be described as godly.

14. For the guitar solos, I mean specifically on Carolyn, New Religion, Nobody’s Hero, Lost it All, Goodbye Agony, and Vale (This is How it Ends). For violin solos, I mean everything, including the overtures. All three.

15. (This one is kind of stupid) Jinxx is the most attractive member of the band.

16. There is no denying whatsoever at this point that Lonny saved Black Veil Brides.

17. CC would be hailed as one of the greatest drummers of all time if it weren’t for the fact that people hate Black Veil Brides so viciously.

Dear Lonny

Thank you.

When you were first introduced as the new bassist, we were all still reeling from the news of AP’s departure. At that time, we had no idea what wreckage he did to the group.

There were people calling Andy a dick, saying that he kicked AP out for no reason. These feelings were only increased when we were told of an NDA that was signed between the parties, information that was used to paint Andy in an even worse light. The narrative we got was that AP was either kicked out at the time he most needed something, or left voluntarily to work on his mental health.  Both theories had holes in them, and we never really were satisfied. Eventually, there was an uneasy peace between the two camps.

It stayed that way until June 20th, 2020. Then we learned what a monster he was. And how desperate Andy was to get out.

The guys may tease, but if someone tried to harm you, they would all jump to your defense. You mean a lot to them.

Lonny, you are the reason Black Veil Brides even exists anymore.

We don’t know how much you’ve been told, but here’s the run down:

When it came to light as to how much of a fan you were of BVB, Andy was just done with Black Veil Brides and the toxicity that had been in the band for 10 years. He saw no way out but to kill the thing he worked so hard for. Andy was even convinced that no one really cared about Black Veil Brides anymore, so he should just end it then. Things were not fun anymore, the joy and energy was sucked out completely because of AP’s abuse.

When Andy learned you were a fan of Black Veil Brides, he wanted to know what in BVB you loved so much, and he started to hear ways that the band had made an impact on other people’s lives, in ways he didn’t even know. When he would go through records with you, telling you the stories surrounding your favorite parts, that made him remember just how much goodness and fun there was in the band.

Every time that he got to hear you get excited about Black Veil Brides, that excitement rubbed off onto him. Getting to talk with you showed him just how important the band really was, and that there were parts worth saving.

Your Wild Ones name is Savior, and now you know why.
