Resolution
This is the first time in ages that I've written B99, so apologies if they are a bit OOC, I'm a bit out of practice. This is my contribution to @b99fandomevents challenge. It's pretty short, but I've been busy 🙃
"Jakey! I'm so glad you're here!" Charles shrieked at the top of his lungs, skipping across the bar to his best friend. Jake was currently in the middle of wrestling with his hat and coat, the temperature inside substantially warmer than that of outside.
He glanced up. "Oh, hey Charles. Is everyone else here?" Jake asked, trying to peer around the extremely busy bar, in search of the other members of the precinct.
"Amy, Rosa, Holt and Terry are already here, Gina is late, as usual, and Hitchcock and Scully are over by the bar, eating." Charles rambled on as they began to head over to the back corner.
"Okay, cool, cool, cool." Jake pushed his way through the crowd in the direction of where he had spotted Terry, squished in a booth at the back of Shaw's. Amy and Rosa stood at the end of the booth, due to the fact that they were sharing their booth with two strangers. Shaw's was packed that night, due to hundreds of people crowding in to watch the fireworks for New Year's Eve, the end of the decade.
"Sup Peralta." Rosa stated blandly as she took a sip of her beer. The other three spun around, alerted to his presence.
"Hey Jake!" Amy cried, surprising Jake as she threw her arms around his neck.
"Oh, hey Ames." Jake replied, shocked, as his hands automatically came up to hug her back. She smelt faintly like mix of beer and perfume and her body was warm, despite the cold december air outside. He caught Rosa, Charles and Terry making faces at each other behind their backs so he decided that it was time to break apart.
"Hi Peralta." Terry grinned as he handed Jake a beer. "Happy New Year."
"Good evening Jacob." Holt formally said.
"Whats up, Captain!" Jake grinned, holding up his hand for a high five. Holt glared at him. "Alright, never mind." Jake raised his eyebrows and backed away.
"Did you guys decide on a new year's resolution yet?" Charles perked up.
"To make my life more private, and make less friends." Was Rosa's contribution.
"To get Jake and Amy together!" Was what Charles screamed, surprising no one.
"Ew, Boyle, gross." Jake wrinkled his nose. But what he didn't mention was that his was pretty much the same. And what he didn't know what that Amy's was as well.
"Oh, I don't know what mine should be, maybe to try and arrest more people? Solve the crimes faster?" Amy suggested.
The rest of the group nodded, sipping their beers thoughtfully.
"Why do all these people insist on all meeting in a crowded bar to view the fireworks? Do they not have perfectly working televisions at home, which they could use to watch them?" Holt stated, glancing in disapproval at the other couple sharing their booth, who were making out like their lives depended on it.
Charles cleared his throat. "Well, people just seem to like being together on New Year's." He shrugged.
"Humans like to spend a lot of time with other humans, I don't understand it." Rosa rolled her eyes.
"Well, it's scientifically proven that-" Amy began, before she was cut off by an appearing Gina Linetti.
"Hey losers! Don't worry, you can thank me later." Gina grinned, squeezing into the booth beside Terry, forcing Holt to move closer to the unknown couple.
"What are we thanking you for?" Jake asked, confused.
"Many things. One, for being my fantastic self," almost the entire group rolled their eyes in sinc, "two, I bought another round of chicken wings for Hitchcock and Scully so they won't be done for a while. I know, I know, sounds expensive, but Boyle thoughtfully paid for it." Gina smiled coyly as she handed Boyle his credit card.
"What! Where did you get this?!" Charles cried.
"That's not important. Thirdly, I almost certainly saved you from a boring lecture from Amy, about why people want to spend time with other humans." Gina finished.
Amy rolled her eyes. "Whatever."
"Oh, hi guys. We knew we'd find you somewhere in here." Scully said, as him and Hitchcock approached the table.
"What?! How- I just bought you all that chicken!" Gina stared at them.
"Yep. It was delicious." Hitchcock responded.
"2 minutes until the fireworks," Terry told them all.
"Anyone want any more drinks?" Amy asked. The entire group put their hand up. "Okay… Jake, can you help me carry them?" She asked, turning to her partner
"Sure." Jake replied.
They slowly moved through the crowd towards where Hank singlehandedly manned the bar, passing out drinks left, right and centre. "Hi Hank, can we grab nine beers please?" Amy asked, handing over the cash.
"No problem." Hank replied, winking at Amy before turning around to grab the drinks.
Amy blushed red and turned back to Jake. "So… happy new year?" She suggested. Things had been… kind of awkward, to say the least, since Amy and Teddy had broken up, and Jake and Sophia had broken up. And especially since that day when they had to pose as Johnny and Dora. Neither of them had mentioned what had happened that night and they had both kind of been tip toeing around each other, neither of them really addressing the issue. They both sort of knew that they liked each other, but… neither of them had acted on it.
"Happy new year, Ames," Jake replied, smiling at her fondly.
He met her eyes and she stared back, holding the eye contact, her cheeks and nose tainted pink from the cold and her hair loose over her shoulders.
"10… 9… 8… 7… 6… 5… 4…" Jake sighed and looked around at all the other men glancing towards Amy, finally deciding to man up and make a move.
He learnt over and as the last few seconds of 2019 disappeared, he captured her lips with his. All around them people screamed and cheered in joy, but nothing mattered to the two of them, who stayed trapped in their own little bubble of happiness.
"What was that?" Amy asked as they broke apart.
"My new year's resolution." Jake replied, grinning wildly.
Amy smiled back shyly, before she wrapped her arms around his waist, put his head on hid chest and together they watched the fireworks.
They were brought back to reality as a large camera flashed in their direction. They both blinked and looked up.
"Really Charles?!" They both said in sinc.
Charles grinned from behind his camera. "This is such a great way to start the new year!" He shrieked. "Come on, group hug!"
"What? No, no, please stop…" they both exclaimed as Boyle bounded over to wrap his arms around the new couple.
"Boyle, you're making this awkward." Jake tried, still stuck pressed between Amy and Boyle.
"Oh no! I'm so sorry!" Boyle cried, quickly letting go off the two detectives. "I'll just, uh, leave you two. Um, bye." He grinned, quickly heading back in the direction of the table.
"He won't stay shut up for long." Amy rolled her eyes. Jake smiled at her affectionately, nodding his agreement.
And sure enough, "Guys you'll never guess what happened! Jake and Amy just kissed!" was heard yelled throughout the bar.

This is very important and useful information for all young adults thinking of becoming sexually active. This should be sent and shared everywhere, literally.
DEAR TEENAGERS AND YOUNG ADULTS BECOMING SEXUALLY ACTIVE FOR THE FIRST TIME:
1. DEMAND condom use
2. Hold your partners accountable for what happens in the bedroom. None of this “baby I can’t control myself around you” or “I just wanted you so bad” bullshit.
3. Coercion is real and it’s very scary and hard to identify in the moment. Establish a dialogue with your partner. Be clear on what you both want. Be clear on what you don’t want. Your boundaries should ALWAYS be respected.
4. Sex can be really emotionally and physically over-stimulating the first few times; don’t be afraid or ashamed to ask your partner to slow down, take a break, or even stop.
5. Focus less on pleasing your partner and more on exploring your partner. Everyone’s body is different and there are no “tricks” to better sex. Chances are, if you psych yourself out worrying over how well you’re “performing” then nobody’s going to have a good time.
6. Ask questions, offer suggestions. Despite what porn has probably taught you, talking during sex isn’t weird or taboo. Your partner isn’t a mind reader. They don’t know what feels good to you. [Pro-tip, a looot of people without clitorises aren’t fully aware of just HOW sensitive a clitoris is. They can be a little rough with them. Tell them to chill!!!!]
7. Your sex life is YOUR business. Don’t ever feel ashamed of how many or how few sexual partners/experiences you’re having. Do what you want, touch the people who want to touch you back, forget the rest.
8. DON’T FAKE YOUR ORGASMS!! Don’t fake your orgasms!! DON’TFAKEYOURORGAMS!! If your partner isn’t getting you there, let them know! Tell them how!!
9. There is more to sex than orgasms. Sex is a really cool way to establish intimacy and trust, to have a fun time, to relieve stress, to explore a person’s body and bring them pleasure. Don’t get me wrong, orgasms are really cool and good, but your sex life is going to be a lot better if it doesn’t revolve around them.
10. LEARN ABOUT YOUR BODY!! This goes for everyone, but ESPECIALLY if you are a person in possession of a vulva, you have been discouraged and even actively kept from vital knowledge about your anatomy! Do some google searches, buy a human sexuality textbook, masturbate.
11. Virginity is a useless concept. It’s completely okay if your virginity is something important to you and I’m not trying to belittle that idea. Just, for the record, in the grand scheme of things it’s not a big deal. Literally nothing about you changes just because you bumped uglies with someone else.
This has been a public service announcement from your friendly internet poet.
