I got up in a hurry once I heard the doorbell ring from where I was in my room.
Today, A’ and I had planned a little date at my home. We were planning on playing some games on my nintendo switch just to have a little time together. It had been around two weeks since we had some proper quality time, and I was a bit embarrassed to admit that I geniunely did miss him a lot even if two weeks isn’t a very long time.
Behind the door stood A’: tall, vibrant, and messy red hair. I moved to the side and let him step inside, but I was immediately attacked with a bone crushing hug.
“I missed you, my honey!” He said from where he tucked his face in the crook of my neck. “You missed me too, huh? I bet you did! There’s no way you didn’t.”
I gently hugged him back and let myself savor the moment. However, it was getting increasingly difficult with how tightly he was holding me.
“A-tan, I can’t breathe.”
“I know! I can’t breathe when you’re gone, either. I missed you so much.” I felt his arms wrap around me even tighter. I did not think it was possible at this point.
I felt my body go slightly limp, and that’s when I heard the red head gasp, and he quickly let me go.
“Honey, are you okay?! You’re not hurt, right? I felt like I was gonna die if I didn’t hold you immediately.” He laughed and shook his head. “Just kidding! Not funny, but seriously, I missed you so much, and you look so lovely today!”
All I could do was smile back at him. In all honesty, having a conversation with A’ was a bit hard to keep up with, but I truly did enjoy talking to him about just anything.
I led him inside my apartment, and he immediately made himself comfortable on the loveseat. “What games did you bring?” I asked, gesturing to the physical game cases he was carrying around.
At this, his face lit up. I could have sworn I saw sparkles in his eyes. A’ pulls out three game cases and shows them off quite proudly. “I brough Super Smash Bros, Switch Sports, and-“ He reaches behind him to pull out the last game, “Mario Kart.”
“Are you trying to end our relationship?” I chuckled. A’ and I almost always end up getting really competitive when playing Mario Kart.
“What?” A’ laughed happily. “No way! Everyone knows Mario Kart only strengthens relationships, just like Uno.” I let out a gasp when he suddenly grabbed me and started to tickle me, fighting back the uncontrollable laughter that was threatening to spill out of my mouth.
The moment he released me, I collapsed on the loveseat trying to catch my breath from the tickle attack I had just received. I looked up at him with a small smile. “Alright, if you say so.”
“I do say so!” He rushed over to the TV in my living room to start up the Switch and inserted the game cartridge for Mario Kart. “Watch, we’re going to have fun, right? Right?” I didn’t even have time to give him a small nod before he was speaking excitedly again. “See, I knew you’d agree! Ahh, I’m excited! I love getting to spend time with my honey.”
A’ walked back to where I was sitting on the couch and handed me a controller. I got the neon green controller while he got the neon pink one. As soon as the game booted up, I felt the air shift into something more intense, and I had to supress a grin. As much as we argued during our Mario Kart matches, I had to admit he was right in saying it strengthens relationships, assuming they don’t end by the last match.
A’ and I chose our characters and got into position to start the match. I was quietly concentrating on not running into the walls, as that was my biggest downfall, while A’ was too busy vocalizing every single one of his frustrations.
“Aw, what?!” He shouted when he got hit with a bomb that I threw, effectively slowing him down enough for me to get ahead of him by a lot. “I never you had it in you, honey. What did A-tan do?” A’ started fake crying when he got hit by yet another bomb that I threw. “Wait, wait!”
We were at our final lap, and I could feel A’ getting increasingly desperate, causing me to let out a laugh. I was in first place while he was stuck in third. The fact that he was so close to catching up to me must have added to his desperation to beat me, because he started praying out loud from where he was sitting next to me.
“Please God, Buddha, Ciel. Anyone! Please lend me your power, I’m begging.” A’ leaned forward in a mock prayer before getting back into his gamer mode. I must have been paying too much attention to him, because he somehow managed to successfully sneak into second place. I could not let him win. He might have been my boyfriend, but I was not above getting competitive with silly games like these.
I threw another bomb, and it managed to hit him yet again, throwing him off course, and I heard a shriek from beside me. As soon as I crossed the finish line, I stood up excitedly from my spot, looking down at A’ as he hung his head in shame. “Third victory in a row! You owe me dinner.” I grinned at him.
“My honey, how could you?” A’ wiped away fake tears from his eyes before letting out a sigh of resignation and nodding. “I do owe you dinner. It is only fair.” His face cracked into a bright smile when I started to cheer and pat myself in the back. Upon meeting his gaze, I realized he was wearing a much softer look than before, and I immediately became a bit self conscious. To my utter dismay, he took notice of this and stood up to hug me.
“Aw, why is my honey getting shy all of a sudden?” I felt my face burn hotter at the teasing remarks, trying my hardest to hide my face from his eyes. I tried to push him away with a small groan of embarrassment only for him to hold me closer to him. “Nope! You’re not getting away from me this time. I’ve been missing you way too much lately, so just let me have this.”
I huffed in annoyance but let myself relax in his embrace. He really does give the nicest hugs, and to be honest, I did miss him as much as he says he misses me. We stayed like that for a few more minutes before he reluctantly let me go and pulled out his phone. “Alright, honey, what can I get you for dinner?”
He laughed when I started listing off ideas of what to eat, nodding at everything I said.
Our night ended with us falling asleep in each other’s arms after playing yet another intense round of Mario Kart. Maybe we should play Uno the next time we meet up for our dates at home.
