For @deadbranch 100 word drabble challenge.
-
Warnings: Angst, No Comfort, Implied Death
-
He blames himself for this, you were never meant to be in harms way, yet somehow they found you.
"It's bad, isn't it?"
"Just a graze-"
"Is it bad?"
"No, no, you're fine..."
It's not in a place you can see but you can tell from his body language, the usual composure of the man you love shaken entirely... You just know he's lying.
"Please, don't lie to me... Is it bad?"
"It's... Not good. I swear, I'm gonna fix this. You'll be alright, Dandelion."
He needs to believe that. Even as he watches your eyes go dull.

@deadbranch 100 Word Fic Challenge (love these)
-
The soft golden glow of the setting sun crept in delicately through the break of the curtains. Casting a warm hue into the living room, softening the edges and reflecting off the television screen as your head laid peacefully against John's bare chest.
Soft bristles of hair caressing your cheek with every deep breath, the rhythmic cadence of his heart echoing into your ear as your exhausted body splayed out over his dense, muscular form.
"Y'alright, m'lass?" He asked, curling a stray hair behind your ear.
"Mhmm." You hummed, unable to form a coherent sentence.
"Y'know, my heart only beats for you."
You answered with a smile. Closing your eyes, the world falling away as you focus solely on the steady beat of his affection within his chest, letting it soothe the ache leaching out from your overworked and tired bones.

texas 🤠
The first of what will probably be many submissions to @deadbranch's 100-Word Fic Challenge. Based off of my own shitpost.
Tumblr media
The weather's sweltering, but it doesn't deter the crowd at the doors. You let out a low whistle and hop out of your truck.
Price starts cautiously. "Y'know, when you said we were goin' to your favorite restaurant stateside, I thought…"
"Thought what?" You ask, dipping your head to the family in line before you.
"It'd be somewhere local." Gaz finishes, cringing in surprise. He's not alone. Soap's mouth is catching flies.
You scoff, hands on your hips. "Oh, I'm sorry. Didn't realize y'all were above unlimited rolls."
"That's not–"
"C'mon, y'all clearly need a Texas-sized yeehaw. You're actin' ugly."

Bells Ringing in the Chapel
Tumblr media
Bell walked even though she felt like she was floating.
She didn’t feel her legs, as they were numbing. Bell’s hands held onto the bouquet of forget-me-nots, those beautiful flowers she was given from the American CIA. In her peripheral view, she saw the cigarette smoke coming from the man sitting in the front row of the pew.
Bell stood next to the groom —her husband-to-be.
Adler’s cologne filled her senses. Whispering “I do” as Bell held her gaze on Adler, she saw the gunmetal pulled from Adler's suit jacket.
Just for her, the church bells rang in the chapel.

Just a little something for @deadbranch 's 100 word fic challenge 🩷
---------
It really should be a thing you're used to by now – the way he always seems to sneak up on you. Instead, the glass you were holding crashes to the kitchen floor and shatters the moment he startles you.
You both crouch down to pick up the larger pieces, but he quickly puts a hand over yours.
Taking the hint, you get up to retrieve the broom and dustpan. “Explain to me again how you're so big yet so quiet?”
“Years of practice.”
You roll your eyes, teasing him.  “Years of being weird, Simon.”
“Oh yeah,” he chuckles, “that too.”

For the 100 word challenge! Hosted by @deadbranch
Tumblr media
“Simon.” You cupped his cheeks in your hands, smiling at the way he leaned into you, like a great affectionate cat. “I love you, but you need to rest.”
“‘M fine,” he grumbled, stubborn man that he was, hands settling at your waist.
“Please?” You stroked your thumbs over his cheekbones softly.
Which is how you ended up sitting on the couch, Simon’s head pillowed in your lap, a movie playing softly in the background.
It was the perfect way to spend the evening. Simon's head in your lap, eyes slowly closing as your fingers helped soothe him to sleep.

Call-sign: Kilo
@deadbranch 100 word fic challenge.
Riley was a massive German Shepherd, a slight anomaly to the breed, he was loyal and had a good sense of character. He adores and engulfs you in his fur when he bunks with you.
How ironic is it that the one person on base that he loves to be trained by is Ghost, aka, Lieutenant Riley. He is more aloof than your dog, he engulfs you in stature, especially when he’s teaching you to snipe. He calls you ‘Kilo’ and it sticks.
Maybe you’re his to handle, putting the ‘K’ from K-9 in Kilo. Strangely, it's endearing. For Ghost.

Safety Off
100-Word Challenge by @deadbranch
Ghost x Reader
This is based on this post that I keep thinking about. Sometimes Skeletor just lives in my brain and I can’t get him to shut up.
Tumblr media
‘You always make me feel safe, Simon.’
Ghost lay there eyes trained on the target, those words kept playing over and over again in his head like a mantra.
‘You always make me feel safe, Simon.’
With those words, you would never know, you sealed the fate of anyone that would ever wrong you.
‘You always make me feel safe, Simon.’
You just condemned anyone that would think to hurt you.
‘You always make me feel safe, Simon.’
Without knowing it, you just took the safety off a gun you never knew you were holding so delicately in your hands.

Running in to Price (For @deadbranch 100 word challenge.)
The first time you run into John Price, you nearly get a black eye. He’s holding the door open for you when you trip. Instinctively reaching out, he narrowly misses connecting with your rapidly falling head.
You land heavily on your hands and knees, ending up on all fours before him. It would be funny if he wasn’t so concerned, leaning over to help you up with a palm under your elbow.
“Jesus, love, y’alright?”
“Living the dream.” You retort immediately.
Maybe don’t be a sarcastic shit to the handsome man. You’re begging your brain to reconnect with your mouth, immediately.

Keegan makes an attempt at cooking
And another for @deadbranch 100 word fic challenge!
Keegan didn’t know what to do. He planned on making you a nice dinner for date night, even going as far as being on the phone with his mom as he was preparing the meal so he’d get it right. “Don’t worry sweetie, I’m sure she’ll love it.” “I really hope so mom.” Now as he airs out the house of smoke, attempting to calm his racing heart. He turns quickly as he hears the door open. “Keegan? Baby why is the house so smokey?” You round the corner and find him holding the burnt meal. “Uh… I love you?”

@deadbranch how about some gym rat soap for the 100-word fic challenge.
-
The savory scent of tomatoes and basil wafted through the air as you casually put together yet another lavish dinner. The sound of the lock on the front door pulling your eyes away from the onion as you quickly glance at him barging in through the entry.
"Dinner will be ready in about an hour." You call, returning to the task at hand.
The loud thud of Soap's gym bag is the only audible response you receive.
Your eyes roll to take him in once more, and you freeze mid slice.
You know that look.
"Johnny, no." Droping the knife, you back away from the counter with a growing coil of excitement churning in your belly.
"Dinner can wait, bonnie. I need my protein snack." He growled, slowly stalking towards you with a dark and hungry glint in his eyes.

fighting dirty
For @deadbranch ‘s 100-Word Fic Challenge.
When the lights flick on, you nearly jump out of your skin. John leans in the doorway, arms crossed, shirtless, with his sweatpants slung lower than usual.
He's playing dirty.
"Thought you said you'd stay at Sam's for the night." He drawls.
"I said I'd be home late," You didn't. He's right. You're stubborn.
"Mm. Seems like you're ready for round two."
He faces conflict so calmly. It's infuriating. It's not fair. You always feel like you're overreacting.
"I'm not rehashing the argument, John–"
He steps closer. "Not what I'm suggesting. Think we ought to skip ahead to making up."

Adding another little 100 word drabble for @deadbranch challenge because I have been inspired today.
Tumblr media
You hummed in satisfaction, still catching your breath. Above you, John was no better, eyes still half-closed with the remnants of pleasure.
He shifted his weight, preparing to move, and you tightened your legs around him in silent warning. One eyebrow slowly rose as he looked down at you.
"I want to feel you," was all you offered, lifting one hand to scratch through his facial hair.
John hummed, accepting that, and stayed pressed against you, lowering his weight against you slowly, until you sighed in a different kind of pleasure.
"I'll stay as long as you want, love."

@deadbranch's 100-Word Fic Challenge
another one because I've realized these little challenges are great for getting myself in the mood to write
When a prank idea strikes, MacTavish is usually game. Today, however, even your puppy eyes and sheepish smile don't convince Soap immediately.
"Pink isn’t his color."
Your words drip with sarcasm, as you scoff, rolling your eyes, "He'll love it."
Soap’s protests only cease after you drag him to the laundry room.
You spend hours dyeing all of Ghost's skull masks and gloves pink. But the prank backfires when Riley shows up for the next mission sporting the pink set, handing you and MacTavish matching masks.
Price isn't happy.
Especially when Gaz questions his lack of a matching pink mask.
