What?
Prepend 12ft.io/ to the URL of any paywalled page, and we'll try our best to remove the paywall and get you access to the article.
Why?
I believe Google Adwords killed the web. Google Adwords incentivized sites to peddle SEO optimized garbage. Sites who aren't are forced to optimize for email capture so they can market directly to you. Search results now show "news", ads, and SEO spam instead of surfacing information.
You ought to be able to search something on Google and get an answer to your question without signing up for some newsletter. This is why I created 12ft.io.
How does it work?
The idea is pretty simple, news sites want Google to index their content so it shows up in search results. So they don't show a paywall to the Google crawler. We benefit from this because the Google crawler will cache a copy of the site every time it crawls it.
All we do is show you that cached, unpaywalled version of the page.

have you tried 11 foot ladder?
It didn't work in this instance, but this is a great resource! Thanks for sharing!

I just learned about this website. It’s a free proxy website. If you’re trying to read an article and it’s behind a paywall, go to this website, paste the address of the article in the box, and select “Remove Paywall” and poof! You can read the article. Just used it on The Atlantic and it worked!

You know. I was trying to get more info about that whole Trump raid bc I’m rooting for the FBI agents to finally find something incriminating enough to put that annoying orange away for a while to get him to shut the fuck up for five minutes.
And the only thing that wasn’t blocked by a paywall (I’ve tried the 12ft ladder btw, it doesn’t work on big article companies now. No NYT, no WP, etc.) and it was an opinion article. The Entire Thing was talking about how the police were too overpowered and were overstepping and about the ‘Regime’ (what fucking regime?). The entire thing just reeked of an over excited Trump supporter and Q.
This is their first experience of having cops raid a building. It’s not like normal everyday people have their homes raided/get shot/literally abused by cops on a daily basis. But the guy who literally called for death of his coworkers, indirectly caused the deaths of millions, tried to jail his opponents, and almost started a literal revolution is Totally Innocent and Didn’t deserve to have his home raided (with a warrant). /s Then there’s people who started a whole convoy to Trump’s house to ‘protect it’ or something. Idk how these people are so loyal to the guy who sends spam emails asking for money sounding like the scam emails you’d get in the late 90s/early 2000s. I’m so confused and literally nothing is answering any questions.
At least maybe now some conservatives might hop on the ‘defund the police’ train.
Trump supporters who find this post will be blocked on sight btw. I’m not here to argue or “Debate” with any of you. (No idea what that type of person would be doing on tumblr anyways but still. There’s some clowns out here and if one replies then that pads out my blocklist.)

Use this when you need to get around paywalls to read news articles. Because people with money want to bleed us dry, even when the information that they hold could be lifesaving.
