The posts are great for those days when motivation may need a jump start! #Repost @improvepractice (@get_repost) ・・・ The young lady in this video is Syd, an 11 year old, 6th grade athlete and Straight-A student from the State of Virginia. Her dad is @k_j_d_u_b, a youth, speed and agility specialist, so she is fast on the track, fast with her dribble and even fast in the swimming pool. A few weeks ago I posted a video of Syd training to make her middle school team which just doesn't happen for 6th graders. Syd made the team but was warned by her Coach not to expect any playing time. Syd and her father @k_j_d_u_b took that as a challenge and got back in the gym to work a little bit harder. Why can't Syd play as a 6th grader if she can contribute to her team winning games? Well as we can see in this video Syd did get to play. And she was able to contribute on defense and score points. Syd's team is now 4-0 and my guess is that she will continue to get playing time. Coaches like winning too. As a young player Syd will have ups and downs. That is the life of the competitor. YOU get challenged and YOU learn how to adapt and rise up and defeat those bigger, more experienced competitors. If YOU want to get playing time be in great shape and be a great defender. Conditioning helps everyone PERFORM their best in games. The basketball player in this video is 8 year old Collin Tjin , (@collintjin), a 3rd grade basketball player from Southern California. He plays basketball year round but in this 'off-season' @collintjin has been taking advantage of the nearby California beaches to get in some conditioning work in the sand with a few friends. Working out outdoors, using the sand to add resistance to your workout is an excellent option to work on agility and quickness. In this video, I will be demonstrating a highly effective basketball shooting drill called Wing to Wing. This drill is designed to help players improve their shooting skills from the wing and corner positions, as well as practice flare cuts and cutting off down screens. With just 1 passer and 1 shooter, you can easily set up this drill and start working on your shooting skills today! When the shooter cuts toward either chair, the passer throws the ball to the shooter. As the player shoots, the rebounder throws the next ball to the passer and rebounds the current shot. The shooter then cuts back and forth between the chairs.
On the cut from the corner to the wing, the shooter could pretend that a down screen has been set or that he's making a basic cut to the wing. On the cut from the wing to the corner, the shooter could pretend that he is executing a flare cut. For added difficulty, you can move the chairs closer to the hoop.
This will require the shooter to make quick cuts and adjust their shooting technique accordingly.
