Thinking and thoughts here
Could you just imagine the impossible with me? Being in a loving marriage with your beloved husband -who you believe is human because why wouldn't you? He looks and acts like every other human and monsters aren't real. And he just adored you so very much, he communicates when he doesn't understand something or when a miscommunication is had. He never fights with you but you both work together to fix any problems, and focus on showing how much you care for each other. Truthfully he's the model husband. Almost to a scripted degree, but you've never felt so adored. Especially when he mirrors your affection and never seems to expect anything explicit, nor want it either. It feels safe, and comfortable... So why do you feel the sense of dread in your gut as you're looking at him right now?
Well, it might be how he's standing in the doorway, bag of takeout in hand, smile on his face. Mirroring how he always stands. But it's a brief moment, a flash of dark lines almost like thread wrapping around his joints, moving him like a giant flesh puppet.
And just as quickly as they were seen- they're gone again. Just your loving husband, Dorrin. Standing tall and gazing down, as though the mountain was watching the river below. Absolutely enamored and unyielding to everyone except you who he'd mold himself to better love as time goes on.
At your expression, his smile fades into a look of concern. His gaze follows yours, to his hand. And the brief flash of threading is gone but he knows exactly what you've seen.
His gaze returns to you, hollow. Slowly setting down the bag he was carrying and slowly crosses the room to get to you.
He seems... Empty. As if any signals for how he should be acting have been cut off. His looming figure almost listless as he gazes down at you with a dull gaze, no life behind his eyes. After a moment, his voice finally rings out. "Has this one displeased you, little love?"
You feel an inherent wrongness about how your beloved husband is speaking presumably of himself as if he isn't even here, with a slight stumble back it answers his question well enough.
Dorrin slumps, like a wind up toy who's finished it's final dance. The voice that drifts through the air is so familiar yet leaves your brain trembling at the sheer magnitude of the being behind it even if unseen. "I apologize, this puppet has proven defective for its sole purpose. Rest assured, such an oversight will be rectified promptly. Only the best shall be allowed closest to you."
With a horrified expression you can only watch as Dorrin- what you know to be Dorrin is... Folded away. Limbs snapping together into a ball not unlike when a child is ready to toss away their doll. And it's... Not there anymore. No blink of an eye, no noise or sight, it was there and it wasn't. And now you stand in the empty living room of a home you've shared with someone you thought you knew so very well.
What do you do?
What can you do?
You can feel gazes on you still, the same when that thing would watch you while you rested together. You can try to move towards a door or even a window and find them consumed in darkness. There is no threat here, but you are not allowed to leave at the moment.
You don't know it yet, but Dorrin just wants to keep you safe in the home he's so carefully crafted for you alone. Tonight he'll leave a new puppet at your door, identical to the last hundred that had done something leading to any inconvenience on you. You've never noticed before, and he doesn't know how to condense himself into a small enough form to be loved by such a miniscule creature he's so deeply fallen for. But that puppets strings weren't good enough to remain hidden. The new one will be better.
Only the best for you.
He will ensure it.
(Basically what happens when an endless creature of Eldritch being falls for a little bitty human? Why not craft a puppet to express his love for them on a scale they can comprehend! But those fickle puppets- never perfect enough for his little love)

Day 22: Tired - Gabriel
- The Year of our Lord 1048 -
Gabriel was so tired … tired of living … tired of being manipulated and deceived … His body was tired as well, both mentally and physically … He hadn’t slept properly in months. Not since the girl, Claudia was murdered. Zobek was still out there, he knew it deep within himself. He was too afraid to sleep, lest Zobek manipulate him in his sleep again and force him to take more lives.
As he stood upon the edge of the mountain top, dark thoughts began to prey upon his mind, tempting him to jump to his death, thus ending his miserable existence. He had nothing left to live for. Life seemed meaningless without his Marie. She had been his reason for fighting. It was for her that he embarked on this quest, and though he had succeeded in saving her lost soul, he couldn’t help but feel miserable. It was selfish of him, but at that moment he didn’t care. All he wanted was to be with his wife. Though he realized that jumping to his death might not reunite him with her, but rather send him straight to hell, for that was where he felt he belonged.
“Why did you give my life back to me!?” he demanded to know. “Why would you be so cruel as to deny me a peaceful death? What purpose do I have to continue living?”
The heavens were silent, just as he knew they would be.
“Where do I go from here?”
He knew of no place upon this earth that he could go. He had a home, but he did not want to return to it without his wife. It just didn’t seem right. There was no way he was going to return to the Brotherhood, knowing now the truth about their cause. Just like their founders, they would plunge the world into chaos just to save their own souls. They were no better than the cowardly Vincent Dorrin. He no longer wanted to be associated with such an order.
“Answer me, God!” he cried out. “Give me a reason to believe that Satan was lying! Give me a reason to believe that you really do love me! Prove to me that you haven’t abandoned me as he said!”
Once again there was nothing.
Gabriel hung his head. Perhaps Satan was right. Why else would God see to take everything that he ever loved, leaving him all alone in a cruel world to be manipulated by the will of mankind? His whole life he had been taught that God would never abandon him, that he loved mankind and that it was not good for man to be alone. His current situation seemed to contradict all those statements.
Letting the darkness in his mind take ahold, he stepped to the very edge of the cliff, ready to step over the edge and plunge to his death. If it was true that God didn’t care about him, then he couldn’t see any reason to keep on living for his sake.
However, just as he was about to take the step over, he was stopped by a familiar voice entering his mind. “Gabriel…”
He would know that voice anywhere. The memory of its owner was ingrained in his mind. It was Laura, the vampire child who had spared his life back in Carmilla’s Castle. It seemed that a creature like her had more compassion on him than God himself did.
“Hear me, Gabriel!” Laura called to him. “I need your help! I-I am afraid …”
Gabriel did not move a muscle, contemplating the decision before him. He was sorely tempted to just ignore her call and plunge to his death regardless, but at the same time, what was left of his damaged humanity would not allow him to do so. His mind filled with guilt at the thought of denying her request, especially after the mercy she had shown him.
“It’s not safe for me here anymore. I have no one else to turn to. Gabriel, you must help me!” she pleaded.
With that final plea, his mind was made up. He took a step back from the edge. Killing himself would have to wait. He could not deny her, for he too had no one else to turn to. It seemed a bit ironic to think that his only true friend, in the end, was a vampire, but it didn’t bother him. At least she had never hidden her true intentions from him as Zobek had.
Grabbing the Vampire Killer, he sent the hook flying up to the mountainside above him. Once it was securely grappled, he swung off the cliff and began his climb out of the Land of the Necromancers. As much as he didn’t like the idea of returning to the vampire's territory, he had a debt to pay, and he knew that he would not be able to die in peace before it was paid.

Hi! Your blog is so so great! I love your writing, your ideas are so unique and just fresh to me, I'm absolutely delighted <3 like it's past midnight (late for me) but I just couldn't stop scrolling!
While I'm not asexual myself, your blog is like a breath of fresh air for me, your writings of Dorrin and Acherus have especially caught my attention, I like those types of monsters and I don't see a whole lot of them.
And while I remember, one of your stories featuring a driad & human having a conversation in bed & how they expressed cornered humans being scary to them, that's a thought I love being mentioned since I tend to make the human in my daydreams sweet&caring but also capable of real scary stuff for angst reasons. So that's just a neat aspect of human behaviour I like that you brought up.
Have a nice day and thank you for sharing your talent with the world! <3
Person of non disclosed gender-
I appreciate you very much
I love that humans can be scary too, it's something so few touch on I feel like! Especially when it comes to monsters
What makes humans so terrifying is we're soft and squishy and can still be fucking monstrous! I can growl like a dog just cause I was that weird kid and the skill persist
We can be damn well rabid and I want more monster stories to indulge in that, not just reduce a human to meek prey helpless
Let us be scary!
Aside from that I just love Incomprehensible creatures like Dorrin, my baby Eldritch. I'm just glad people are enjoying my depictions of the uncanny or the discomfort of monsters that are horrifying regardless of their personalities or sometimes because of their personalities
Monsters are fun because they're inhuman, so I enjoy diving into the inhuman aspects. It can be soft and loving and horrifying all at the same time really
Love every aspect of your monster- even the scary bits because they love you too
