I have brainrot about piglins, but it’s mostly one in specific. This is him— Flintbairn of Bastion Glowstone 23b… my homeboy, my sweet cheese, my good time boy. You know. Anyways, he started as an NPC for an in-game scavenger hunt I made with a bunch of redstone on a server a while back, and he evolved from there.
Flint got trapped in the overworld one day when his portal exploded behind him, leaving him with a heck of a scar and a pretty nasty case of advanced zombification. Luckily, he’s been able to stave it off for the most part with his knowledge of potions, but his supplies can only last so long. He’s hoping to find either a solid cure or to find a way back home before he completely loses himself— only a matter of time.
He’s kind of in a liminal space for me, always in the overworld and not quite zombified because I never got to finish his questline before the server shut down, alas. He’s pretty sweet and is a caretaker for the young piglets back home, but he helps around where needed.
Anyways. This guy I rotate in my head all the time. Constantly. Look at him. Ask me about him, but be warned, I will not shut up about him

Does anyone else wonder what nether cuisine would be like. What sorts of foods are out there that we’re not able to enjoy. Piglins must make THE best meatloaves and stews ever.
Like… all the varieties of mushroom. So. Many. Lots of meat too— hoglin and strider and ghast, maybe even magma cube or blaze, depending on their makeup. Could you eat shroomlights? They look like large fungi fruits! Would there be pastries or brews? Probably! Lemme at it, Mojang!!

Today I think I shall gush about my piglin naming system! Inspired by Technoblade :)
Piglin names typically come in three parts, being (attribute)(thing you’re known for)(bastion name). Bastion names are normally used if you’re interacting with anyone outside of your bastion or horde, because goodness knows how many piglins out there are named Gold…
First names are usually a personality trait or something alluding to one, not always literal. Techno was named as such because he’s cool and calculating on the outside, like technology. Flint (my oc, for a second example) was named as such because he’s hardy and dependable.
Second names are given later on in life (some piglins choose not to use them, or never earn them)— these can be a lot of things! Usually it’s a profession, but it can also be a notable event in your life; it’s something people would recognize you for. Techno got the name “blade” because of his prowess with blades in farming and on the battlefield, and Flint got “bairn” for being good with those who are born (animals, but children especially).
Some piglins never end up getting second names, and some don’t associate with a bastion. Those who are outcast or choose to move elsewhere may take up a different name. They also morph with time— if someone becomes more well-known for something after they’d already received a second name, they’d change it to match!
This is the short version, amazingly enough. More under the cut if you’re interested in it! You’ll get a glimpse into how my mind works, lol
First names aren’t given until piglings start to grow their tusks in, around which time their personality shows a lot more. As a baby, they’re given a placeholder name by their parents or caretakers, which can be anything! Typically, it’s from a pool of names that that bastion or horde holds dear, so litters a couple years apart may end up having the same childhood names.
I actually have a list of some names that’d work in one way or another, though not all of them may fit together smoothly. You can likely shift stuff around and add or subtract letters so it rolls off your tongue easier. I mean, technically this is in english, so it’d likely work in the piglin’s spoken language, but hey!
Birth names: Typically some physically defining trait, notable action, or person/idol/role model, given to the piglet shortly after birth. Examples include steve/alex/jean, mud, snow, speckle, leather, squeal, swift, trot, crinkle, crimson, trip/skip, hopper
First names: Typically an object or item, or field of study or important advancement in relation to the piglin’s temperament around 8-12 years of age. Overworld examples are used less frequently, but tend to be given to piglets with exceptional or odd temperaments. Examples include Techno(logy), Flint, Fence, Ash, Ember, Clay, Obsidian (Obi-), Cinder, Gold, Flame, Blaze, Rose, Water, Rust, Cobblestone (Cobble-), Honey
Second names: Typically a thing or descriptor/verb (usually in past tense), given to the piglin after finding something they excel at or become known for. This is usually a word that pertains to multiple aspects of them (as with Techno, ‘blade’ refers to his expertise with bladed items both in battle and cultivation). Examples include Blade, Bairn (born), Char, Forge, Lock, Arrow, Shield, Bloom, Ferrous/Aurous, Brew, Heal, Tame, Craft, Knife, Smith, Saw, Sword, String, Saddle, Spirit, Breath, Grown, Wrought, Torn, Write, Built, Read, Smelt, Bud, Scar
Literally just copy pasted from my notes app so apologies if stuff is repeated or doesn’t make sense! If you guys have piglin name ideas or oc ideas regarding this I will give you a kiss on the forehead, I adore it.
The more I talk about it the more it sounds like how warrior cats name themselves. I know nothing about warrior cats, unfortunately, so I can’t say it holds true, but… I feel like this may be a common thing I worldbuilding. Regardless, I just think it’s neat!
If you are insane about piglins as I am or still relatively sane with a little interest in them, do interact! I’d love to bounce ideas off each other ^^! Also if you got this far I love you and tuck you in all cozy like a snug bug!! Don’t forget to eat and drink today, you deserve it! Okay that’s all for right now! :D

Among other things, I wonder how glowstone works. It’s nice to think of it as an actual stone, but then I feel it’d drop like cobble or deepslate instead of turning into dust…
Instead, I feel it might be an extremely specialized type of fungus, since the nether tends to be filled with mushrooms in general. Something with the texture of a frozen bubble or a type of slime mold like wolf’s milk slime, but something that shatters or spreads spores more like puffball mushrooms.
It’d be super fragile in its natural state, explaining why it’d turn to dust if you try to harvest it without silk touch. The spores/dust itself isn’t as luminous, but can be re-compacted into blocks for use in construction or jewelry, etc. It’d have a different texture in compacted block form, but eventually start to grow out like it naturally does in the nether if given the right conditions.
It’d also explain why it’s edible, with its use in potions! Nether wart is also a potent potion ingredient, so nether fungi seem to work for a good range of uses. I wonder if warped or crimson fungi/stems/nylium/etc. could also be used in brewing as a substitute for one or the other? Maybe have different effects entirely?
I just think glowstone’s neat :)

A bit about the one who runs this blog (me!):
Adult, though I likely won’t post explicit stuff like ever
he/him or bird/birdself if you’re really feelin’ it (maybe even minecraft neos? goodness only knows, go crazy) Here’s my pronouns page for more in depth stuff!
neurodivergent & queer
you can call me whatever you like honestly, I’m excited to see if I ever get nicknames! “Glowstone” works, if anything :P
Asks for my ocs or headcanons are encouraged, as well as drawing prompts, though no promises I’ll be able to get to them. I just enjoy the people here :)
My posts will almost never be re-read out of pure excitement about the subject, so apologies for any spelling errors or incoherence along the way. If anything’s a little fuzzy, just ask me to clarify.
That’s about it for now! I may update as time goes on, but welcome to my blog! Little part of the bastion I like to call home ^^
Remember to eat and drink today, get some good sleep in you, and remember to take your meds if that’s something you do. You matter!

Hallo. I just saw your post about piglin man who is stuck in the overworld and all that, and you said if I asked you then you wouldnt stop talking about him. I want to hear it all. You sound like you have such an intricate plan for him, or at least did, and I would love to hear it

Loving you forever!!!! Okay you asked for it, beware! Here are some screenshots of the Man Himself in game through a server download I have of the old world. He's got a little minecart chair :)
The third pic is of his 'brain', per se, which is pretty simple redstone comparatively (but I'm not a redstoner, so I'm rather proud of it), which accepts gifts, quest items, and junk items, and will give gifts and responses in return. There's a dispenser right underneath the minecart he's in that would dispense the items he gave, and you could press the button on the wall to talk to him.
Fourth and fifth images are some screenshots of a puzzle I made for a quest he gave, which was INSANE by my standards! I didn't have much time to play, so being able to mine out such a big area, making redstone mechanisms aplenty, and terraforming like nuts, was pretty awesome for one person! The puzzle in the floor was controlled by levers to get a minecart at the bottom to end up in the right place so you could reach it. Along the top layer, there were potion-activated doors that'd drop down the gravel and concrete powder sections to reveal other blocks (after having 'transformed' them...). This was just to restock his gold supply & study other things from the overworld, but it was a BLAST to build!! The railways on the upper level had minecarts constantly riding through with other goodies, and would have been a way to get to a future quest later on down the line. Super proud of it still, I adore it very much!
Flint had a 'trust' system of sorts, where he'd get warmer to you the more things you did for him & open up to you! It was pretty neat! I just liked piglins (but the person I made the quests for at the time was who got me more interested in them), so he was who I ended up making. Later on, he's evolved a good bit!!!
He's roughlyyyyy in his thirties-fourties in human years (somewhere around 20-30 in piglin? still figuring that out), and about 6 1/2 to 7 feet tall when standing. He's really sweet and gentle once you get him to open up to you, but if you're not a piglin, that may take a while of de-traumatizing... He works at home as a caretaker for the piglets in the bastion, but helps where needed, which is how he got himself in the Overworld in the first place. His bastion specializes in potionmaking, so he has some limited knowledge of brewing that helped him get by. Regen & health potions helped a good bit, but not enough to prevent chronic pain after the whole ordeal. I'm still deciding on whether or not he'd use a cane or a crutch/crutches once he's healed, but he'd definitely be a little worse for wear than he was. On his free time, he loves carving gold! He likes to make hair beads, charms, or little trinkets to give to his little ones-- they go crazy for them!
There's so so so much I could go into detail on, but I feel I'd need some good drawings to illustrate my point alongside all my text. Clothing styles, transmission & aftereffects of zombification, husbandry of striders and hoglins, economy and trade routes, professions, bastion layouts, and just... any random tidbits I've picked up. So, so many! Anyways. This is mostly regarding his in game self, but hopefully I can draw a bit and share some info and little moments about him later on. Thank you for indulging me!! :D

Hello there all!
I don’t know if it’s a super common thing, but I’m starting a sideblog due to my love for piglins. I’m not kidding when I say I have a 40 something page long google doc filled with just notes about what their culture could be like, headcanon or not. I’m very normal about it. (I’m not)
Anyways, if anybody has piglin brainrot like me, please interact! I’m just here to vibe and gush about minecraft in general, but mostly the nether. A lot of nether.
I’ll likely change my banner and layout etc. later on, but for now my pfp is Flintbairn of Bastion Glowstone 23b, my beloved OC, and my header is GhostG4ming’s piglin origins sona (who can be found on artfight), both drawn by me.
That’s about it! Love you guys! Remember to eat and drink today! B)
