I love smaller companions, who are very used to their larger or size-shifting companions, being abruptly reminded sometimes of just how large and powerful their friends/partners are.

If you hang around a giant enough [especially one that usually is about your size because they're a size-shifter], eventually you get comfortable with them. Casual. Sometimes you forget, in the midst of their kindness and gentle-ness towards you, that they can level whole buildings. Crush boulders with a single hand. Let loose a beastly roar that shakes your bones and makes even the earth tremble beneath you.

You forget that a lot when you're so used to them laughing with you, taking walks, enjoying nature, letting you ride their shoulder or in their pocket.

And then sometimes, when they go to pick you up under your arms, you're sharply reminded of just _how_ big they are compared to you. Those moments of clarity keep you humble. Keep you... excited, almost.

After all, life with a giant requires a healthy level of self-awareness and respect. But it makes that deep trust and the special treatment you get from them all the more special.

Here I am! Returning to this obscure yet comforting corner of the internet with this. Paul and I actually spent far longer than 26,521 minutes together because s&g were my #2 artist and records make up about a quarter of my total music listening, but top 0.001% when my latest wave of the Bob Dylan invasion kicked off about 6 months ago (shortly after starting my new job — coincidence?)? Walking these grounds is but insult to injury, but with the world still turning and his bills all due, the show, in spite of everything, must go on.

Still, how he wishes so much that it god damn wouldn't. Reaching the entrance to a lecture hall, he walks right in. It had once been his, at least for the teaching of his Upperclass Seminars, and he thought to see it before the semester began, for sentiment's sake, so to speak. He thought he'd be alone, just him and his loafers. Yet, a man is there before he closes shut the door, and sharply, a twinge of apprehension clamors up his marrow--and him, this, he swears he knows. "Ah. I suspect I'm not the only one with apprehension nipping at my heels," he begins, glasses gleaming. They turn, and Gale's nerves frazzle like just struck coal. "Though, I wager the worry is all unnecessary. Holding the attention of deeply caffeinated undergraduates can be more than daunting, but your air, last I checked, is undeniable." A reckoning, in fact. Gale breathes. "Regulus."
