Good Morning: Hmm? Oh, yes, greetings Traveler and Paimon. Sorry, I didn’t see you there… I’m not much of a morning person
Good Afternoon: Did I miss lunch again? Eh, oh well. Traveler, wanna run by Miss Ryouko’s to get some food?
Good Evening: If I don’t get back soon, Chisato will certainly send someone out to find me
Good Night: Can you get back on your own? I’m afraid that I must return to Ritou for the evening
When It Rains: Quickly! The rain will cover our tracks!
When It Snows: Huh? Wow it got cold fast! Better go find some shelter before I accidentally freeze us
When It’s Sunny: Be careful, our enemies can see clearly in broad daylight
Favorite Food: Mmm, I could go for some Mondstat Grilled Fish right about now… I had it once during their Ludi Harpastum Festival that my Senpai took me to one year and I’ve just fallen in love with the flavour!
Least Favorite Food: Is… is that cabbage? No no, there’s nothing wrong, just don’t expect me to eat any. Why? Well… I don’t like the texture at all! Eating it feels like slime going down my throat which closes up my airways and then that sensation makes my brain feel like someone shoved a wet blanket between my ears and wrapped it around my brain! Please… never make me eat cabbage…
About: Vision: My Vision? How did I get mine? Well, since you asked so nicely, it appeared to me in a dream during the end of the first year of the Sakoku Decree. I had cried myself to sleep because of the anguish I felt coming from those who had their Visions stolen - those who I had sworn to protect as a Clan Heir - and I cursed out Celestia for allowing this to happen. In my dream, I appeared before seven giant thrones all glowing with elemental magic. In the blue throne sat a woman who gave off so much power that I could not gaze upon her. Yet, her words always resonate in my heart: “Your loyalties may change, but never change your principles. Do no harm to others, but do not let harm fall upon you and those you love.” When I woke up, the Vision was tucked under my pillow!
About: Kanjou Commission: One day, it will be my duty to oversee the Kanjou Commission. Am I ready? Probably not. Do I have a choice? Also no. I just want to make everyone proud… but how can I do that when father has already deemed me an embarrassment to the Hiiragi Clan simply because of who I am?
About: Sumeru Academy: The Academy? I grew up there! Fourteen years I spent roaming the halls absorbing all of the knowledge I could! *Sigh*… maybe if the Travel Ban gets lifted, I’ll show you around my old stomping grounds!
About: Ritou: I’m friends with some of the guys at the Outlander’s Trade Association. What do you wish to see? Want to head by a jewelry shop? Get some food?
About: Interests: Wanna know a secret? Deep down, I’m an alchemist at heart! Anything alchemy related, I’m sure I can be of use! It’s my special interest! Did you know that the luminescent spines of a firefly can—wait wait no I’m sorry. Father says that people get bored of my ramblings, my apologies for wasting your time…
About: Swords: You may have noticed that my sword technique is different from the samurai of Inazuma. That is because I learned how to use my blade at the Academy. I forged this blade myself when I turned twenty. Would you like to hold it?
About Ayaka: Miss Kamisato? I’ve met her once and she seems nice, but I still feel uneasy around her. But maybe that’s just me
About Raiden Shogun: You want to know why I refer to the Shogun as “Baal”? Well, that’s because I didn’t grow up in a place that calls her the “Raiden Shogun”. I’m used to my peers referring to her as “Baal” and I’ve yet to drop the habit. Also, I don’t have much respect for her, but don’t tell anyone that
About Ayato: Never met him, but his description gives me the creeps! Never appears in public, leaving his little sister to do all the work? The nerve of that guy! O-oh… that sounds like me? Ehe-he… oops
About Yoimiya: Oh Miss Naganohara! She makes the best fireworks! She and I are actually a lot alike. What, you don’t see it? I guess that comes from me spending a lifetime hiding my inner enthusiasm while she never quite grew up. We should go to the next firework festival to see her, I’m sure she’d love that! But… from a distance please. The popping noises from the fireworks hurt my ears
About Kaeya: The Cavalry Captain of the Knights of Favonius, huh? I’m curious to see how the pieces fall into place… what was that? Oh, it’s nothing… just gossip from some old colleagues
About Diluc: Diluc? Who’s that? Owner of the Dawn Winery? The Ragnvindr Clan? Nope, doesn’t ring a bell. The Darknight Hero? Of course! Why didn’t you just say that?! Yeah I know who you’re talking about now! What? He’s got a Vision too? I guess that guy’s just full of surprises
About Childe: So, that weasel is actually a Fatui Harbinger? Why am I not surprised... O-oh when did I meet him? After I graduated from the Academy. Did I sound too surprised about his identity? Sorry, when I knew him, he used a different name
About Albedo: Ah… the son of Rhinedottir. His master actually attended one of my lectures when I was younger in secret. I think they were using an alias during that time but I spoke to them in private. It was interesting to learn different things about ancient alchemy techniques from another land. I think Albedo is currently an alchemist in Mondstat, right? I’ll visit him when the Travel Ban is lifted to exchange notes
About Klee: Klee, daughter of Alice? Eh, I haven’t heard good things. I’m not a big fan of explosions... but that doesn’t mean that she’s a bad kid! I’m sure if I met her, we’d be friends
About Lisa: Minci-Senpai! We worked together a lot at the Acadmia! Why did I call her senpai when I’m older than her? Well, because she’s the Grandmage!!! Everyone knows how smart and powerful Minci-Senpai is! Once, she tasked me with finding ways to preserve pure Electro organisms. So, I coated the inside of a jar with Hydro Slime condensate so that her Electro roses can continuously be charged by the Hydro energy… Sorry, I’m getting carried away
About Mona: What, do you think that all Hydro users who practice magic know each other? Well, I do know Miss Megistus, but you can’t assume that! I met her and her master once during a lecture on fortune telling with the use of elemental abilities. Now that I have a Vision of my own, I will see if I can implement their techniques into my own practice
About Sara: To be perfectly honest, I’ve never met her. We may be the heirs to our Clans and our respective Commissions, but I’ve never had a conversation with her. Naturally, as a Vision holder and she as the spearhead of the Tenryou Commission, I am her enemy. However, as the heir to the Hiiragi Clan, I must keep up formalities. Besides, my dear sister Chisato is being courted by another member of the Kujou clan, Kujou Kamaji, and I don’t want to do anything to ruin that. You won’t turn me and my Vision in to her, right?
About Cyno: Ah, Master Cyno, one of the smartest members of the Academy. I owe a lot of my development to him. I don’t think I would have finished my Thesis paper on the eighth nation without his guidance
About: Names: You know, my name means “first treasure”, but despite such an endearing name, my father has yet to reveal my face to the public and claim me as his heir. He was also the one to send me away when I was a boy to Sumeru because I was not like other children. Was I meant to be gift to my family? To the other nations? Was I an unwanted gift? … Oh, sorry about that. I don’t usually get dark like that! Tell me, Traveller, what does your name mean?
About: Politics: Ugh… Sakoku Decree this, honor the Commissions that, I don’t understand any of it. If I’m ever left in charge, I’m sure that I could handle the bureaucratic side, but the people side? I get overwhelmed when talking to people I’m not comfortable with. I shut down mentally, fumble over my words and eventually I end up having a panic attack and Chisato has to pull me from the room. My father thought that I would have grown out of those outbursts when I got older, but I’ve only found a way to mask my behaviors. But you’re different, you haven’t looked at me like a child nor spoken less of me simply because I’m different, why is that?
About: Family: My mother passed away while I was gone, my father Shinsuke is the head of the Kanjou Commission and my younger sister Chisato is his main assistant. When my father gets upset, Chisato is always the one who has my back and in turn, I’ve begun escorting her secretly to Kondo Village to meet with her secret lover, Kujou Kamaji. I guess that’s what siblings do for each other, we protect each other from everything because no matter what we go through, no matter what arguments we have, we always will have each other. Ah, Traveler! I didn’t say anything to make you upset, did I?
About: Khaenri’ah: … You ask a lot of questions, don’t you? What do you think I know about that cursed place? Yeah, I wrote my Thesis paper on Khaenri’ah, but that was a while ago and I’ve learned my lesson. Now, the only connections I have to that place are hearsay from lecturers, rumors at the Academy and the plucked plume of a proud peacock.
About: Time Gap: Huh? Oh yeah, I went to Sumeru when I was seven and studied there for fourteen years. Uh… what did I do for the missing five years of my life before returning to Ritou? Ehe-he… I don’t think I’m allowed to say everything, but I can tell you this: that’s the time that I met a disgraced Knight, a bloodthirsty child and learned how to wield a sword. I was able to travel with them while writing my Thesis paper. Ah… how time flies when working with like minded people
This is the most thought I’ve ever put into an OC, I hope you like him!

Kimetsu no Yaiba Chapter 195 Review
youtube
There’s a theory that the series will end on 200th chapter. If it’s true, now it’s a really good time to announce the infamous “five chapters to go” statement. Whether it happens or not, the climax is certainly here and this chapter made it clearer. Tanjiro and Iguro are the only one standing, but a long-waited guest will arrive very soon.
In my last chapter review, I was left wondering whether or not Kanroji was treated already. The chapter’s cover answered for me. It’s left to Chachamaru to give the antidote as she’s resting. What a sigh of relief. Out of all characters, she’s the one with the lowest death flag. Biasness aside, I can’t say the same for the rest. Sanemi and Giyu remain unknown, and Himejima’s status isn’t assuring. For now, it’s all on Tanjiro and Iguro, who arguably have the highest death flag raised, more on the latter.
Muzan’s downfall continues. He remembers his first and only encounter with Yorichi. He saw him weak, lack of fighting spirit, and an easy prey. It bit him hard when he came close to killing him; a perfect example of underestimation. Rightfully deserved for his arrogance. It speaks high volume when Muzan calls Yorichi the true monster and not him. When a demon calls a human a monster, you know that to be true. Thank goodness Yorichi isn’t the main villain. It would have ended much sooner and a lot darker.
Tanjiro’s monologue reminds the fans the sacrifices and contributions from everybody. This is the climax, so everything must come to an end. That is unless it’s setting up for a dark outcome. That would be the biggest middle finger since it first acknowledged. It’s a good thing the announcement for the actual end has yet to be dropped. It keeps me on the edge of my seat. The setup can be used for the ending or segue to a second part. Either way, I’m heavily invested.
This is quite possibly the best chance they have to defeat Muzan so far. Tanjiro doesn’t need Transparent World anymore; now when the weakness is heavily exposed. However, he persists to assist Iguro with his eyesight. The boy continues to be the most wholesome person of the series; hell, even in current Weekly Shounen Jump lineup. If you remember the tags that Kanao and others brought, they’re Yushiro’s tags and that gives Tanjiro an idea. I love when a small moment can lead to a bigger thing.
In the upmost shocking turn of event, Muzan decides to take a detour and surprise, surprise, proceed to run away. If this doesn’t scream the endgame, I don’t know what does. I thought this would happen at the very end, but to happen at 40 minutes til dawn, this threw me off-guard. With that said, this increases the pacing of the action, which translates to excitement. It also helps the direction shifts to, for lack of better phrase, “The hunter becomes the hunted” case. It’s the final chase.
Tanjiro couldn’t believe it, but remembers Muzan as someone who only clings to life. There’s no honor or pride to fight to the death. In short, no damn to give. Tanjiro can’t keep up and Iguro can’t see; soon, every sacrifice will be in vain. To add more damage, Muzan tramples the corpses like grasses on the field. That’s incredibly insulting, and that was a huge mistake.
Tanjiro may be a good boy, but cross his line, you’ll instantly regret it. Just when Muzan thought he has nothing to worry, swords come flying toward him. They’re from the dead and Tanjiro honors their lives by tossing their swords at Muzan. It’s also a way to say, “This is for them, you bastard!” I love how this series tribute to small pieces, fodders, and/or Pillars. To make the scene even more awesome, out of nowhere, Iguro comes striking down, stabbing straight through Muzan’s throat. Reminder, I didn’t think much of him before, but this arc won me big time. Man, what a satisfying shot.
Tanjiro still has Iguro’s back whenever Muzan strikes; a good supportive teammate. It’s the right time to hand over the tags, but Muzan won’t allow it. The strike hits Tanjiro badly, which causes him to let go of the tags, hovering into the air. Instead of trying to grab some, he directs Iguro while he protects him. Who knew a scene with a blind man catching papers could be this intensifying? Tanjiro yells at Kaburamaru to grab. Praise the sun, that snake got them.
Iguro can see again (for temporarily). The best part, he tells Tanjiro words that hold so much weight, “Thank you.” Next to the last scene which we will get to next, this was the highlight. To add more greatness to already great moment, Iguro repays the favor by saving Tanjiro in the nick of time. Teamwork display couldn’t look any greater. Muzan is actually tiring out; more evident to the battle’s end. All they have to do is kill time; hopefully, none gets killed in the process.
The last page or rather panel is striking as hell. Nezuko is near at the location. The timing couldn’t be any better; she can kill enough time till dawn. However, the real takeaway is her form. Much like the time she first speaks, the last panel is powerful. The humanity cries once again, and so as the fans. She is turning back to human; only half remains demon. Does this mean she will turn back completely? For how much longer? The climax is killing me.
This was an exhilarating chapter from start to finish. It was rather very uplifting from all fronts. Muzan is running away, which means the end is near. Tanjiro was a badass. Iguro got his sight back, even if it’s from a different source. The teamwork was riveting. The cliffhanger got me so hyped for the next chapter. I hope the sensation isn’t so much of a “too good to be true.” Part of it does feel that way, and that scares me. But maybe, just maybe, there will be a happy end.

Kimetsu no Yaiba Chapter 187 Review
youtube
Flashback is often predictable in terms of destination. So why bother with it? It’s the journey that compels the fans. It can fill in the blanks, it can unlock a new secret, and above all, draw a connection with the character. Yorichi believed he was born to eliminate evil from the face of the Earth. Sadly, we know the outcome due to the current scenario; however, I find it much sadder knowing the man’s downfall.
Right from the start, the chapter’s opener draws you in to the resentment feeling towards Muzan. One glance is all it takes to hate the man. Yorichi’s monologue does a great job describing the battle with his viewpoint; like reading off of a novel. The illustration complements well with its wordings; essentially, bring out the chills in me. His words made Muzan as a convincing, intimidating foe. It’s that moment where he felt chills for the first time, and that says a lot.
It amazes me how he was able to see Transparent World. Reminder, Tanjiro couldn’t grasp it due to Muzan’s phenomenal speed. That’s an impressive feat, no doubt. That’s when he got his forms completed and unleashed the 13th Form. It’s so fast, yet greatly presented in the spread. It’s a sight I wish to see in the present. The dumbfounded look of Muzan is priceless. It’s a shame Tanjiro can’t communicate. I’m not sure how can he, but perhaps it’s best to wait.
It’s interesting to learn the red blade was established to be the key to halt the regeneration. It worked well against Kokushibo. The fact it can work on Muzan is very significant. It’s a damn shame that Tokito is no longer with them, so someone else needs to unlock it. Yorichi asked Muzan about the value of life, but no response due to utter rage. I like the inclusion of Tamayo in this story. She was there watching, hoping Muzan to die. The sight gave Yorichi an impression that would benefit her eventually. Small detail like that helps out the anticipation feeling.
As we all know, Muzan did escape from death, but at least Tamayo had nothing to do with it. To escape, his body burst into 1,800 pieces of flesh and Yorichi only managed to cut down more than 1,500. Amazing that he can count that much. The remains escaped and the rest is history. Even after Tamayo’s death, I still feel sympathy. She lived through serious hell; Yorichi’s failure didn’t help whatsoever. Like finding the only vaccine to cancer, only to drop it, it’s heartbreaking.
She cursed out with bitter rage, but Muzan did nothing. This is when she escaped the imprisonment since he was at a weak state, so one good thing came out of Yorichi’s action. Another good thing is the passing information about Muzan and how demons link to him. Lastly, it was that moment where she agreed to help him. At first, I thought it was odd to introduce her as if we couldn’t figure it out, but I am quickly reminded that this is Tanjiro’s point of view. It wouldn’t make sense if he knows who, when us fans have the liberty to see the imagery. It’s why the monologue narrates like a novel; I wouldn’t mind no visual.
The most painful part of the chapter is the following scene: the downfall. The news broke out about Kokushibo’s transformation. I have been waiting for the reaction, yet there was none to behold. All he had was a blank expression while his comrades became resentful towards him out of all people. The worst part is how some wanted him to commit suicide. That’s purely absurd. For the record, Rengoku’s ancestor was one of the few that defended him, so kudos to him. His master, an Ubuyashiki’s ancestor, denied the request, but sadly, Yorichi must leave.
Upon my recollection of his character, he has to be one of, if not the most tragic character in the series. While the passing of Breathing and allied with a demon would be helpful down the road, nothing good ever stick or remain for him as a person. He failed to kill Muzan, who he believed he was made to fulfill the so-called destiny. He allowed Tamayo to escape, only to get backlashed and hated by his own comrades. He lost his brother, who he loved dearly but became the sole being he hated. The saddest part is, he felt sadder that people around him will continue to suffer because of his failure. He carried too much weights for his own size.
Tanjiro feels awful for him; who wouldn’t be. It is frustrating that he can’t do anything. It’s all based on the past memory, so if Sumiyoshi didn’t say anything, then that’s how it is. At first glance, it sort of interpreted Sumiyoshi as a man who didn’t do anything to comfort Yorichi. I could imagine the fans would be irritated for not helping a broken man. The child wants to hug Yorichi, so Sumiyoshi insisted for him to carry her. That’s when it ensues the most emotional scene I have seen this year.
Yorichi carried her up high like he had never seen one before. She charmingly laughed, having a time of her life. It finally struck Yorichi; this is the life he wished to have but never granted. Tears came flowing down, hugging her as if she was his own child. Such a powerful shot; I was getting weepy over it. The mother arrived and comfort him that it will be alright. Tanjiro said it best for the fans. We have a fight going on, but staying here and hoping for Yorichi to find a little peace is a wish we love to see it come true.
This was an emotional chapter. It is astonishing on how much I cared for a character who already passed away. We know the endpoint, we know what he couldn’t accomplish, but I really want to learn more of him. It’s not to say the series under-delivered; it’s the nature of a fan wanting more because how deep and well-written they are/were. In this case, the story was well-written, the 13th Form looked pretty cool, and above all, the insight of Yorichi compelled me. He appeared as a mute or someone with no attachment, but he was carrying everything in. It was only a matter of time to let it go. I know we’re here to learn the 13th Form, but I hope to learn that he has found a glimmer of peace.
