New Album: Flavour - Ijele - The Traveler
The Highlife King, Flavour has released his highly anticipated album, Ijele - The Traveler.
The 17 track album will keep fans entertained and dancing as they listen to eclectic music sounds such as reggae, R&B, gospel, makossa and more.
The inspiration behind the album title, Ijele - The Traveler comes from Flavour’s indigenous background. “Ijele” is one of the rarest and biggest masquerades in Igbo culture. Whilst smaller masquerades show up at every occasion, Ijele's appearance is only at notable events where it brings that extra spice. Flavour and his music embodies the Ijele persona as he brings spice with his music everywhere that it is played. The album chronicles Ijele's journey through the world, adding that extra spice. In his own words, Flavour states:
“The album title, reflects my journey as a musician metaphorically. As a musician, I’ve transformed, evolved and transcended within my music and social responsibilities, and I am proud to share this journey with my fans and listeners far and wide.
“Music is in my blood, it’s all I know. Music is my life.”

Flavour of Africa’ the Africa’s Highlife
King famously known by his stage name Flavour N'abania or simply Flavour, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and performer.

Early childhood and background
He is well known for his ability to sing fluently in the Igbo language, was born in Enugu State, Nigeria. His family is originally from Umunze in Orumba South LGA, Anambra State, Nigeria.
Music career
He began his music career at the age of 13 when he started playing the drums for his church choir in Enugu. The resident pastor at his church introduced him to a friend, Chris I. Ordor, the CEO of SoundCity Communications.
In 1996, he was invited to join the company on an educational scholarship to study music. After three years of playing the drums, he started playing the drums professionally.
In 1999, he moved on from playing the drums and started playing the keyboard. He also used to provide backing vocals for other musicians at SoundCity.
Career beginnings
At the age of 19, he emerged unto Nigeria's musical scene as a drummer and pianist for a local Enugu band. After learning to play drums professionally, Flavour received an offer to perform at City Centre, Enugu.
The massive crowd at City Centre inspired him to gain new grounds and reach great heights. Flavour's educational background in music enabled him to learn music production from Dekumzy, Isi Charles and Nnachie.
In 2005, he released his debut album N'abania through Obaino Music. The album's success was relative and limited to Eastern Nigeria, particularly Enugu State.
He also collaborated with Mr Raw on the album's lead single titled "N'abania". The song was recorded at Kingsley Ogoro's music studio in Lagos, Nigeria.
Following the relative success of his debut album, he released Uplifted in 2010. While working on the album, Flavour believed the album would surpass his previous works.
Flavour's projection came true when the album broke national barriers. Lolhiphop Records, an established record label in South Africa, released the album after popular demand.
The album's top singles include "Nwa Baby (Ashawo Remix)", "Adamma", and "Oyi Remix" featuring Tiwa Savage.
Blessed was released on 18 October 2012 through 2nite Entertainment and iROCKING LTD. The album is the successor to Uplifted.
It is arguably Flavour's biggest album to date due to the number of producers that worked on it. It was launched on the same day of Flavour's 2nite Club grand opening.
Thankful was released in December 2014. The album consists of 22 tracks and runs for one hour seventeen minutes. Receiving generally positive reviews from critics.
Thankful sold thousands of copies and features hit tracks such as the love ballad "Ololufe" featuring Chidinma and the fast-tempo Afro-Pop song "Wake Up" feat. Wande Coal.
Ijele The Traveller is the latest album released in 2017. It contains 17 tracks - including a track featuring a blind Liberian fan.
In 2018 he issued two singles, "Crazy love" joining force with mama. Africa Yemi Alade as Flavour Nabania and "Yemi Alade".
Later that year, He came up with another traditional song "Awele" Featuring the igbo traditional duo Umu Obiligbo.
Style of music
Flavour’s brand of music is a fusion of African Rhythm, Highlife and contemporary Jazz, in one phrase: “Afro Hip-Life”.
His music has grown to be immensely popular and enjoyed by music enthusiasts all around the world.
Performance with foreign artists and tour
He has performed alongside acts such as Snoop Dogg, Ciara, French Montana, Lauryn Hill, Akon, Rick Ross and many other international acts.
In addition to performing for sold-out audiences worldwide, he has been featured in major newspapers and media outlets around the world.
In 2016, he launched the ‘Flavour of Africa’ campaign and tour, which had Flavour perform in a number of countries throughout West Africa as well as making a number of large charitable donations in these respective countries.
He has twice performed at two of the largest concerts in the United States of America featuring African artists: One Africa Music Fest in August 2016 as well as in October 2016.
One Africa Music Fest featured acts such as Jidenna, Tiwa Savage, P-Square, Wizkid, Davido and many more.
Controversy
On 29 August 2012, Nigerian Entertainment Today reported that Flavour N'abania was involved in a legal battle with Ghanaian duo Wutah, over the alleged theft of "Kwarikwa".
According to the article, "Kwarikwa" is an exact replica of Kotosa, a song made by the aforementioned duo. The singing duo accused Flavour N'abania of stealing their song's rhythm, chorus, and tempo.

There's a great deal of African art scattered throughout the lodge, but this is the centerpiece. This is an Ijele mask crafted by artist Nweke Kogulu. Ijele masks are a part of traditional dance for the Lgbo people of Nigeria. At 16 feet tall & 250 pounds, a single dancer would carry this masterpiece on his HEAD. Nigerian singer Flavour builds a blind school in Liberia
Popular Nigerian singer, Flavour has excited his fans after a kind gesture of building a school for the blind in Liberia.
Flavour, 35, did this to honour his blind friend, Semah G. Weifur.
Flavour linked up with Semah in 2017 for the first time after he was impressed by the youngster’s rendition of his iconic single, ‘Mama’ at a peace concert organized by Liberian singer, Juli Endee.
Flavour then featured him on ‘Most High,’ a gospel track off his fifth studio album, Ijele – The Traveler.
