Italeri 1:72 Sukhoi Su-34 Fullback Strike Flanker plastic model build photoset May 10th, 2022

This is a nice kit, and very affordable. However, it does have many inaccuracies. The tail boom is too long, but I did not feel like I have the ability to shorten it and have it look nice. I did adjust the geometry on the horizontal stabilizers, though. I scratchbuilt a ladder for the front landing gear as well as the step. Pilots enter the cockpit of a Su-34 through the landing gear well. I added wires to the landing gears using thin gauge wires and nav lights for the wingtips with one of Wave’s H-Eyes sets. Lastly, there is a sensor on the top of the fuselage that I noticed is completely absent on this kit, so I scratchbult one at the last minute for this build.

The model’s cockpit is pretty crappy. I bought a replacement resin cockpit by Pavla Models that really improves detail. Decals are from Authentic Decals. Here is a look at the cockpit I painted and unfortunately almost all of this fantastic detail became invisible once the canopy was attached.

I used Modelkasten’s Flanker Color Set for painting.

Finished: Italeri 1/48 North American AT-6 Harvard in RNZAF 1975 markings.

The only real issue that I had is that this kit doesn't have the option for the short exhaust stack, so I sort of bashed together on that works OKish. Oh, I also accidentally put the wing roundel on the fuselage, but it's fine, everything is fine.
