Okay but can you imagine an AU of Bridgerton where Lord Ledger ends up a hot and somewhat-young widower and he and Lady Danbury are married for the events of the rest of the novels to just cackle over their entire freaking horde of grandchildren together?
THE SCENE:
Agatha: *storms in* “I want grandchildren!”
Ledger: *puts down his book* “Don’t we have about 30 of them?”
Agatha: *fans out several miniatures* “I want these specific additional ones.”
Ledger: *examines the pictures* “Gareth St. Clare is already our grandson.”
Agatha: “I can double up if I want to!”
Ledger: “Of course dear.”

Homeward bound
Benedict Bridgerton x Sophie Beckett
With a hint of Kate Sharma x Anthony Bridgerton
Modern Spies AU
Rated: G
Word count: 1.1k
Summary: a little follow on from A Spies Honour. Benedict (and Anthony) waiting patiently(ish) at the airport for their girlfriends to return from a mission that had gone a little array.
Author's Note: this is a little fluffy towards the end and it’s not really angsty just a fun little Drabble
Again thanks @ambitionspassionscoffee for the photo inspiration
Enjoy
Benedict stood frantically waiting for her, his legs and his entire body jingling with nerves as he waited at the airport terminal.
He both loved and hated their jobs, he loved it when they got to do jobs together but when they had to do jobs apart he honest to God, spent the time they were apart stressed out.
This time he wasn’t alone in his stress, Kate had been sent with Sophie on a mission. It required a pairing but as they had to infiltrate a female gang, he knew there was no way he’d be able to pull it off, even if he did look good in Drag.
But things hadn’t quite gone to plan, both he and Anthony had known there wouldn’t be much contact, but they would get some details, some information from their handlers, Lady Danbury, as the girls missions went on.
After saving the world from the deadly supervirus, they had all been recruited to be part of an elite team, doing off the book missions to help keep the country safe. Benedict and Anthony had done a few missions for Danbury before but never permanently but after seeing how they all handled Araminta’s terror organisation, Danbury wanted them all as a team.
They usually went as a foursome, or if they had to go in teams, it was Kate and Anthony and Sophie and Benedict, depending on what needed to be done.
But this time, it was Kate and Sophie for the first time working as a pair. They’d been confident, they used to run griffs as kids and had loads of little scenarios and between them they were unstoppable but something this time had gone wrong.
The girls lost contact with Lady Danbury and the team, they had no idea if they were safe, alive or kidnapped…
Anthony and Benedict had been frantic and had wanted to be sent over to find their girls but Lady Danbury denied them access, locking them out of all the classified material, the mission could not be compromised for their safety.
Their hacking skills left a lot to be desired and they’d asked Eloise and Hyacinth who’s skills rivalled Kate’s and Sophie’s but Lady Danbury had bribed them pretty good to keep them from helping their older brother, they’d been tasked with trying to aid Lady Danbury and just kept reassuring their brother’s that everything would be okay.
But two weeks turned into a month with no word on the girl’s safety and Benedict was growing frantic, Anthony was trying to demand updates as often as he could get them but it wasn’t forthcoming.
They had no idea if the girls were alive still, if the mission had been a success or not.
They knew the plan had changed, from the intel they been able to gather the gang had changed their targets and were looking to hit somewhere in the US but other than that they’d been unable to garner any additional information.
But after 6 long weeks, they finally got an update. Kate’s location tracker was back online, Sophie’s never came back on and Benedict was terrified it had meant she was gone forever but Kate managed to get an encrypted message through to Anthony, the details of the final attack, that Sophie was alive but was nursing a broken arm after they’d been ambushed by a war lord trying to get their hands on the very device they were trying to seize, which is why her tracker was gone, she’d had to cut it out of her arm when the leader of the gang had sent for the medics to set her bone, if they’d found it, she and Kate would have been executed immediately.
Danbury was able to send in a local team to prevent the attack from happening, the entire crew was caught and “arrested”, or least it seemed to be the case, Kate and Sophie were shown to be arrested along with the rest of the crew so not to give away their identities and put them in danger.
Both girls were transferred to a military hospital to undergo checks before they would be allowed to board a flight home.
Which is where Benedict and Anthony were now waiting, not so patiently, for the plane to come in.
It had been nearly 8 weeks since they’d seen their girlfriends, they had been sent on a last minute mission and their flight had landed an hour before they were due to land, Lady Danbury had offered them the chance to go and change as they were still in some of their military gear from their mission.
They watched as the American C-17 plane appeared in the air and started it’s descent towards the ground and Benedict grabbed Anthony’s arm “they’re here!”
“I know, get off me will you” he said, shoving his brother off him as he tried to make himself look smarter.
It took all of their patience not to go hurtling towards the plane the moment in came to a stop, they’d been warned not to get in the way and let them open the cargo hatch for the girls to disembark before making their way onto the tarmac but the moment the cargo ramp hit the floor they could see two figures making their way down the ramps, running at full speed.
Benedict didn’t even hear the resigned yells of “wait!” from the man behind him, he saw that streak of blonde hair and his feet took off.
He ran faster than he’d ever run in his life, “BEN!!!” He heard Sophie screech, he didn’t even see his brother and Kate collide next to him as he carried on running, Sophie wasn’t able to run as fast with her arm in a sling so Benedict got to her before she got him but she wrapped her arms around him as tightly as she could as she felt the tears burst forth as Benedict wrapped her in as tight but as gentle a hug as he could manage.
When they’d spoken before she left, both she and Kate had sustained bruised ribs, and a multitude of other bruises and wounds from the fights but her arm was what had fared worse off. “Never scare me like that again. I thought I’d lost you” he whispered into her ear as he clung to her, she was real, she was home.
“Never,” she whispered as she held onto him. “You’ll never lose me, it’ll take more than a gang of terrorists to take me away from you. It’s you and me forever remember”
Benedict just held onto her, revelling in the fact she was real, breathing her in, the scent he had missed for the last 8 weeks, she was home and she was safe and unable to help himself, unable to stop the question bubbling to the surface he placed a hand on her bruised cheek, kissed her temple and said the words that would make it all permanent, that would mean, forever…
“marry me”

a correspondence
Francesca felt a new ribbon of appreciation for her son twirl around her insides. In all his six months, John had never been a fussy baby, yet she was still thankful that he was taking so well to meeting several new people at once.
When she and Michael had first reached Aubrey Hall, Violet, Kate, and a fast-asleep Mary had been the only ones in the drawing room.
But, one by one, everyone else who'd already arrived had trickled in – in search of afternoon snacks – and discovered the Stirlings had a new addition to their family.
Everyone responded with a variation of the same astonished joy - Daphne had near-screamed and dropped the teacup she was holding, Edmund and Miles had stumbled in and knocked over a table in their haste to see who everyone was gathered around, and Colin and Gregory simply laughed and shook their heads at Francesca's flat-out not telling anyone of John's existence.
Francesca had perhaps never been given such a patent reminder that her family was a loud bunch. Really, it was a wonder little Mary had not woken up.
(keep reading, or read on ao3)
She now watched as her brother Benedict gently rocked John back and forth in his arms. Sophie had produced a rattle and now shook it in front of him softly, while Kate pulled silly faces to get him to laugh.
“He looks remarkably like you,” Benedict stated, as the baby nestled further into the crook of his elbow. Their niece Amelia leaned over to gaze at John’s scrunched up little face, and she murmured her agreement.
Benedict asked Amelia if she wanted to hold John, and she looked up at Francesca.
Francesca nodded warmly. She thought back to the afternoon in which their mother had taken her, Eloise, Hyacinth, and Gregory to visit Hastings House a few days after Daphne had given birth. Francesca had cradled Amelia delicately in her arms, just the same as Amelia was doing with John now. Francesca had been wondrous that day, trying to wrap her head around the fact that her sister had suddenly become a mother, contemplating how her life must have shifted into another phase entirely. When they had returned to Bridgerton House, Francesca had been imbued with a new sense of excitement; she had been a year away from debuting at that point, but she so looked forward to the day she could find someone she loved enough to share that with.
Francesca blinked. She hadn't meant to get emotional, and she certainly did not wish to cry in front of everyone, so instead, she cast her eyes around the rest of the room.
Anthony and Michael were chatting near the large window that overlooked the main road. Michael caught her eye and winked. She gave him a sly half-smile in return.
Francesca wondered if, with all the attention put on John at the moment, if she and Michael could sneak off and… settle in in their room for but half of an hour. Maybe even an hour, given the way several of her niblings were crowded around Amelia and John.
The thought of sneaking off would have to wait, however, because at that instant, Hyacinth opened her mouth to speak.
“Who has not yet arrived?” Hyacinth wondered out loud.
Gareth turned to her. “No,” he said plainly.
Hyacinth ignored him. Colin, eyes equally alight with mischief, immediately understood what was afoot.
“Eloise and Phillip are not yet here!”
Penelope turned to Colin with narrowed eyes. “No.”
Colin merely gave his wife a mischievous little smile, one that should have been at odds with his age, yet wasn’t. "Well, they aren't."
“Excellent,” Hyacinth said. She brought her hands together in anticipation.
“Why is that excellent?” Lucy turned her attention away from Richard, who was trying to stuff his fingers in his mouth.
Hyacinth turned to her. “Because, now we have an opportunity.”
Sophie squinted suspiciously. "An opportunity?"
Hyacinth smiled, a little too blandly to have meant anything other than mischief. “I propose we tell El that we have known about John all along, and that it is her who was out of the loop.”
Her proposition was dovetailed by several more voices (Francesca accounted for their mother, Penelope, Anthony, Daphne, Sophie, and Gareth at least) all chorusing, “No.”
“Why not?” Hyacinth asked, looking between each disapproving expression with a trademark impudence.
"It - you - " Penelope spluttered for a moment, "Francesca wouldn't agree to something like that." She turned to her.
Francesca, who'd been distracted momentarily by the way Michael had grinned and raised his eyebrows in her direction, just shrugged.
She really didn't care. In fact, the more they squabbled, the easier it would be to slip away with her husband for a bit.
Hyacinth grinned broadly. "See?"
"It would be fun to see Eloise splutter..." Benedict said.
Gregory took Richard from Lucy and eased his fingers out of his mouth. "Quite fun," he added. "It would serve her right for the time she told me it was okay to pet geese at Hyde Park, and then one tried to bite me."
"In her defense, you were seventeen when that happened, and should have known better," Francesca remarked. Gregory pulled a face at her.
"So we're all on-board?" Colin looked around at everyone. A few returned his look hesitantly, others with more enthusiasm; it didn't escape Francesca's notice that those who were willing to have fun at Eloise's expense were her own siblings, and it was only their mother and her in-laws who were shaking their heads at the ridiculousness of it all. Though most of her younger niblings were busy playing with the toys Charlotte had brought from the nursery, all of the older ones were looking to their parents in some disbelief as well.
“You don't really think Eloise would believe that Francesca wrote to the rest of us, but forgot to pen her?” Violet asked, making her question sound like an admonishment.
Hyacinth waved a hand. "We'll say Francesca wrote to you, then you wrote to Anthony and Kate, and they told Gregory, Daphne, Colin, and myself, while Colin wrote to Benedict. We all thought someone would tell Eloise, but no one got around to it.”
“You’re both mad,” Kate remarked.
"No, I think Hyacinth and Colin are right," Daphne said slowly. "It would only be in good fun."
Simon shook his head. "You too?"
Kate looked to Anthony to help quell things. "What do you say?"
Anthony shook his head, clearly close to being worn down. "I defer to Francesca and Michael."
Michael quirked an amused smile as he made his way to Francesca's side. "And I defer to my wife," he said. His fingers slid into hers, and he tugged her a little bit closer.
All eyes went to Francesca.
"As long as no one gets hurt, do what you please," she said.
With the amount of cheering and clamor that followed, Francesca could barely make sense of who was saying what. There was no need to, however, because just then, Michael took the opportunity to sweep her out of the drawing room.
-
Close to an hour later – after Michael and Francesca had indeed snuck off - both for a wicked interlude and a brief nap - a carriage pulled into view.
Violet, who had been perched near the large window, leapt up. "Eloise is here!"
She pointed a finger vaguely in the direction of the room, but it was clear she was addressing her own children. "After you've had your fun, you will tell Eloise the truth," she said.
She left to go and greet the Cranes outside.
Hyacinth leapt up as soon as she'd left earshot. She stood by Francesca, who was in an armchair cradling John in her arms, and Michael.
"Remember what we’ve decided,” Hyacinth said. "Francesca to Mama, Mama to Kate and Anthony, and so on."
Francesca did not miss the way Lucy glanced over at Gregory briefly, as if to ask, is this how you all are? Nor did she miss the way Gregory shrugged, as if to say, unfortunately, yes.
"I would like to say, I still think this is silly," Sophie said. Benedict elbowed her, and Sophie elbowed him back, while Kate muttered her agreement with Sophie.
Eloise strode in next to Violet, who was hand-in-hand with little Penelope and Georgiana. Both girls quickly let go of their grandmother’s hands to dash over to Agatha and little Violet. Amanda and Oliver hurried over to the the cohort of older grandchildren, and Phillip made up the rear, carrying a dozing Frederick in his arms.
Silence hung in the air as everyone waited on Eloise's reaction.
Eloise merely laughed at the strange lack of welcome, and said, “This is the quietest I’ve ever seen this bunch.”
Caroline let out a nervous chuckle.
“I believe congratulations are in order,” Eloise said, scanning the room. Several pairs of eyes widened, and everyone watched her curiously.
Finally, Eloise's gaze landed on Francesca and John.
Instead of the shock everyone had anticipated, Eloise's expression simply grew into one of knowing delight.
She immediately moved towards Francesca and held her arms out.
Ignoring more than one startled noise from elsewhere in the room, Francesca handed John to Eloise. As if on cue, John yawned and stretched a tiny arm out towards Eloise.
"Oh, Francesca! He looks just like you."
With Eloise and John on one side and Michael on the other, Francesca could not see Hyacinth nor Colin's faces, but she was sure they were spectacular.
Eloise looked up expectantly at Francesca and Michael.
"John," Michael said, sitting on the arm of Francesca's chair.
Eloise smiled at the two of them, then dropped her gaze down to look at the baby. "Hello, John," she said softly.
Colin overcame his shock a few seconds before Hyacinth.
"Did you tell her?" he asked Violet.
Violet looked like she was trying her hardest to refrain from rolling her eyes. "I would never hear the end of it from you if I did, would I?" she said flatly.
Hyacinth gaped momentarily, then turned to Gareth and Penelope. “Did you tell her?”
Penelope and Gareth, used to this sort of thing, were not even fazed.
“How could we have? We have been sitting here this entire time,” Gareth said.
Hyacinth frowned. "You didn't send a note, or anything?"
Penelope hands leapt up from her lap in exasperation. "Hyacinth, I can assure you, I have not had any communication with Eloise in the past hour."
Hyacinth gauged Penelope's expression for a moment, as though she didn't quite believe her, but nevertheless moved on to her last suspect.
She turned to assess Francesca, whose eyebrows idly sprung up.
"Francesca," Hyacinth said slowly. "Did you tell Eloise you had a baby, and not the rest of us?" Hyacinth didn't voice the second half of her accusation, but it was clearly: and did you just stand by and let us come up with a prank on Eloise that would backfire on us?
“She didn’t tell me,” Eloise answered for Francesca. "No one did."
“Well then, how did you know?” Daphne asked in incredulity.
Eloise shrugged. "I don't know. She looked different when I walked in."
"Looked different?" Gregory repeated.
Eloise smiled serenely in his direction. If she were not holding John, she certainly would have given him a condescending pat on the head. "Call it sisterly intuition."
Colin and Hyacinth, in particular, did not seem happy with this answer, but no one protested.
After a minute of silence, Miles burst out laughing, as though he could not hold it in any longer.
"You were right, Aunt Daff," he said. "This was good fun."
-
After dinner, several of the adults had resettled in the drawing room. Most of the children had already been sent to sleep, though Francesca was currently watching Colin try to bribe Thomas with sweets in order to persuade him to go to bed.
Francesca took a seat next to Eloise on the settee.
"How did you know?" Francesca asked.
Eloise grinned. "Like I said, sisterly intuition."
"Eloise," Francesca said. "You said congratulations were in order before you even saw me."
"Very well," Eloise bumped her shoulder. "It was your letters."
"My letters?" Francesca tried to recall if she'd written anything of John to Eloise. She was sure she hadn't.
"I had a hunch."
"A hunch?" Michael asked, coming to stand behind the back of the settee. Both women looked up.
"Every time Francesca corresponded with me," Eloise explained, "she would mention having some neighbor visiting or having called on the two of you."
She leaned forward, as though imparting a great secret. "You even hosted a few dinners."
Francesca and Michael exchanged glances. "So?" she asked.
Eloise shrugged. "You are not such a frequent hostess. Nor can I think of another time recently you've written to me of someone visiting you other than one of us, or Janet and Helen."
Eloise thought for a second. "Or at least, you'd rather not host so often, if you can help it, and I know your husband adores you too much to ask you to do so if you didn’t want to.”
Francesca rolled her eyes at that, but Michael acceded to it with a small smile.
Eloise was right – several people had indeed come calling, which Francesca had put up with, because everyone and their brother in Scotland had wanted to meet the young future Earl of Kilmartin.
Phillip joined their group, and Eloise glanced up. All at once, Francesca was reminded not only that Eloise knew her quite well, but also had married someone even more reclusive than she. Of course she would take note of such a thing.
"You even had Lord Winston over, and heaven knows you do not like the man," Eloise said. "I thought the only way you'd ever willingly do so were if you had a baby."
Francesca sat there for a moment. She hadn't realized she'd given her hand away so heavily, but she supposed she had written of several engagements to Eloise over the past few months.
"I suppose I didn't know for sure, but I suspected," Eloise pat the back of Francesca's hand, then rose.
"Shall we?" she asked Phillip, and they bade Michael and Francesca goodnight. Before Eloise departed for good, she gave her sister a kiss on the cheek and graced her with one more warm smile. Eloise didn't say anything more, knew Francesca would never want her to, but the love in her eyes told Francesca just how happy she was for her.
Michael held out a hand to her as well. "Shall we?" he murmured.
She took his hand, fingers gliding against the rough of his palm, and thought to herself that her nearly seventeen year-old self, the one who'd just met Amelia, would have been so pleased to have seen where she was right now.

Hey I love your writing and you srsl need to be less hard on urself! Especially when it’s so good. Now time for a request. So in the books Mary was a bit of surprise baby and I am not sure if that’s the case in ur AU or not but can we get Anthony and Kate freaking out abt having her so late in their lives? PS I love how old man Anthony still can’t keep it in his pants
Thank you so much! I’m unfortunately a little(a lot) bit of a perfectionist. And I’m unfortunately the kind of person that abandons new tasks very easily if I’m not immediately good at, it’s unflattering but it’s very true. I guess I just want to make sure that I put out the best content possible for you all!
Okay! I have discussed this a little here which you may have read, but I’ll tag it here in addition for anyone who hasn’t (tbh the bridgerton and sons tag is absolute lunacy)
It was never really a discussion in the 4 years after Charlotte was born, that they wouldn’t have anymore children. They had two boys and a girl and they both thought that three children was enough. Their family felt complete. Even so, when Kate realised she was pregnant with Mary she was thrilled, and honestly, so was Anthony he loved his children more than anything and how could another possibly be a bad thing?
And then the panic set in. Kate was, after all just shy of 40. Was it even a good idea to be having a child at that age? There were so many risks to her and the baby and it just seemed so terrifying. Things that had seemed so impossible when she’d done this the first time now seemed like huge looming prospects. Anthony was even more stressed than he’d been with their previous children, and god wasn’t this supposed to get easier the more times you did it? That’s what everyone said! That’s what Lucy said, now on her third child happily glowing with the joys of pregnancy.
The other Bridgertons of course all thought it was, hilarious. Colin had burst out laughing when they announced it at dinner, Penelope giving him a sharp elbow to the ribs as he said You sly dog Anthony! Benedict was laughing into his plate of pasta as Sophie smiled politely. then Edmund sighed and said I know. She’s getting rather old isn’t she? Colin loves telling this story and exclaims that he’s never loved one of his nieces or nephews more as he watched Kate’s mouth drop open in embarrassment and shock.
The Sheffields were just as shocked. They’d gathered together for brunch as normal and Kate had very nervously said Anthony and I have a bit of news actually. I’m pregnant. Mary’s eyes had shot up across the table her mouth opening in shock. Edwina’s husband Matthew smile politely, Edwina scoffed and said Jesus Christ Kate at least tell me it didn’t happen in the Kitchen again!
PS: (I love that at the beginning of TVWLM Anthony is so disgusted that Violet’s pregnant like really??? At 37?!!!! Guess how old Kate is when Mary is born: Yah. 37. Like Jesus Anthony, just too horny on main for Kate™️)

A Wildmoore fic. - Ryan worries about being replaced.
“Hey girl.” Sophie walked up to the bar and sat next to Ryan who was nursing a drink. Sophie watched the condensation drip down the glass. Ryan raised her arm and another glass was set down in front of Sophie. Sophie thanked the person who gave her the clean glass and she poured herself some of the Whiskey that was sitting out near Ryan.
“Hey Soph.” Ryan hardly looked up at Sophie and just sort of moved her head in Sophie’s general direction.
“Talk to me.” Sophie simply said. She knew something was bothering Ryan but she didn’t feel like playing guessing games. She just wanted to get to the bottom of it and see if she could help.
Ryan sighed. “You looked pretty cozy with Kate.” Ryan swirled the liquor around in her glass.
“Um-” Sophie started but didn’t know what to say. Was Ryan jealous? Did Sophie want her to be?
“Look Soph, I just started getting the hang of this thing.” Ryan gestured towards herself but didn’t utter the words, Batwoman. She was much more careful now chatting about Batwoman out in the open. She was happy that Sophie found out and now knows because it’s made them closer, and Sophie has been a great addition to the Bat team but she couldn’t afford any more slip ups.
“I don’t want to be-” Ryan couldn’t finish. She’d already cried in Sophie’s arms, she didn’t want to be a blubbering mess in front of Sophie every time they spoke. To Sophie’s credit though, she didn’t seem to mind. Sophie reached out and put her hand on Ryan’s knee, understanding now what was bothering her new friend.
“You’re not going to be replaced Ryan. I talked to Kate and she doesn’t even remember being Batwoman, let alone much else. She’s going through too much right now to just throw on the suit and start protecting Gotham. Plus it’s your suit now.” Ryan didn’t seem convinced. Sophie continued, trying a different angle.
“Look Ryan, I know you and I didn’t exactly get off on the right foot or see eye to eye. Mostly because I’m taller than you.” Sophie paused. Ryan snorted into her drink at Sophie’s joke about their height differences. Sophie went on, “I know a lot of that was my fault for how I treated you when I was a Crow.”
Ryan sighed. “When I was dying in Coryana and you sat next to me and held my hand... you apologized for us not getting along. And I said to you that it was because I wasn’t Kate.”
“You’re not Kate, Ryan.” Sophie started and Ryan’s head immediately dropped. Sophie reached out and caressed Ryan’s cheek and then used the side of her fingers to lift Ryan’s chin up. “You’re not Kate, and I don’t want you to be. You don’t have to be Kate to be special to me, Ryan. I care about you as Ryan Wilder, in the suit or out of the suit you matter to me and I love - I love working with you.” Sophie caught herself. Was she really about to say she loved Ryan? If she was it had to just be a friendship sort of love or a caught in the moment sort of thing. She can’t be falling into these lesbian stereotypes of moving fast in relationships. She didn’t even want Ryan in that way. Jesus who was she kidding.
Ryan watched Sophie’s internal battle. Ryan wasn’t dumb. She felt the connection or tension or whatever was happening between them. But she knew Sophie was gonna need time with it. Plus she was still with Imani. And now Kate, the love of Sophie’s life was back. This all was awful timing. But watching Sophie sputter was pretty amusing.
Sophie looked into Ryan’s eyes and noticed a look that she couldn’t place. Then Ryan’s somber face broke into her adorable signature grin and she playfully shoved Sophie’s thigh. “I loveeee working with you too.” Ryan said, a teasing twinkle in her eye. Sophie let out a breath. This girl was gonna kill her.
“You wanna come up to my place?” Ryan asked as she finished her drink and unnecessarily slammed it on the table.”
“What?” Came Sophie’s shocked reply. Ryan giggled.
“Mary’s up there and we can all chill. Watch a movie or something. Or start a new game of never have I ever.” Ryan watched Sophie relax.
“Oh yeah sure, I’m down.” Sophie finished her drink. “Lead the way.” Sophie sent up a silent prayer that she would get through these next couple hours with Ryan and her apparent new found crush on the girl. She wondered if Ryan knew about it. As they were walking up stairs Ryan glanced back at Sophie with a mischievous grin and then she winked. Oh yeah, Sophie thought. Ryan definitely knew. Fuck. I’m so dead. Sophie looked up after Ryan as she jogged the rest of the steps.
“But what a way to go.” Sophie mumbled to herself.

I'm so done with Kevin and Sophie. I'm also done with the writers throwing women at Kevin without any build up. The only characters I believe are well developed are Jack, Rebecca and Randall. I remember how at the beginning the writers would just put him with a woman instead of focusing on Kevin himself. The first episode the writers really worked on him as an individual person was the 2x08. After that, with the exception of very specific moments, he didn't have many moments where he shone. And that's solely because the content didn't give him such opportunity. However, on season 4 he became a scene stealer to me. I loved seeing his recovery, him getting closer to his uncle (and sort of doing what Jack couldn't do), his bond with baby Jack and Tess. It was amazing, he was evolving so much. I didn't like Cassidy's presence at all, it took away moments that should've been about him and Nicky and the story would've gone just fine - even better - without her. It's not like she was a character like William and the show would've have a different path without her. Anyway, after he left Nicky, the writers went back to their old habit of throwing women at him. Lizzie, Sophie, Madison. I actually would've enjoyed him with Lizzie if there was any chance of that happening because Sophia is an amazing actress. She gave life to one of my favorite characters of all time (Brooke Davis) and would've been an amazing addition to the show. She is amazing at drama. Unfortunately, they wasted their opportunity bringing her only as a guest to play the "will she be Kevin's baby mama?" game (how they were able to do this with her is beyond me, but alright). Sophie is just an over used card. It's predictable. It's repetitive. And it's problematic. He's let her down way too many times, if my memory serves me well he even cheated on her at some point, they are divorced, he always goes back to her when he is vulnerable... That's not healthy. I think some people ship them because she is the longest relationship he ever had and the other examples to compare are all almost even worse. The fact they aren't the worse Kevin ship doesn't mean they are good together. That's setting the bar too low. Kevin seems to never be able to be really open up to her when they are together. Kevin didn't even look like he missed and wanted her for most of the series. The way she was introduced was totally out of the blue, when he was divided between Sloane and Olivia and never even mentioned her or acted like he wanted someone else, but then he suddenly showed up at her door because he was in love with her? My guess is that Kevin is projecting to his younghood, a great love story like his parent's had and exist on movies. That's why he keeps coming back to her, because he is desperate for this idea of love and in a way Sophie is the closest thing he has to anything like that. We also have flashbacks that show them as teenagers having fun and everything, but there's never stuff about them struggling, disagreeing, fighting. Not that I believe couples should fight all the time, but there's no development. The creators have made a great job with Rebecca/Jack and Randall/Beth, they've shown the highs and lows of their relationships, they working together to deal with and/or solve their problems, their evolution... When it comes to Kevin and Sophie, they seem incapable of doing such thing. They've spent most of the series apart and Kevin only remembers of her existence in very convenient moments. It's not organic. At this point I want to him to be with Madison, a new woman, a man, a non-binary person or just being a single dad or co-parenting with someone. I just can't handle any more Sophie, it's become exhausting. I actually think they could take a really nice route with Madison or someone new. All of the pairings on this show were either introduced at day one or got together immediately. I've always wanted to see a couple that were friends first on this show. Unfortunately, Kevin and Madison already slept together, but they can write the two concluding it was a mistake and not doing it again for a while. They become friends, confidants, without any second intention, but slowly progress into something deeper. I know there's only a few months left for it, but it's still possible. The show constantly plays with its chronological time, it has flashbacks and time jumps, so it would still be possible to build a relationship. They can also show them spending time together weekly during the present time to develop their relationship slowly and well. She can get pregnant accidentally and they decide to keep it. I don't see any disadvantage between a new relationship for him and Kevin and Sophie tbh. Kevin has broke her heart multiple times, her friends hate him, she is engaged to marry someone else... In a certain, a fresh start would be easier to write. And would be amazing if the creators worked on the dynamics of him and Madison as a couple and both being so close to Kate. They could've explored that with Zoe/Beth, but since they didn't, that's a new opportunity. Doing a storyline with a pregnant woman who has a history of eating disorder would be fantastic as well, since this season is giving more attention to health problems. And if they bring a new character to be his endgame, it also can be great depending on how they build their relationship. Having Kevin being a single father or co-parenting with somebody could be incredible as well. I just believe that creatively wise is better to let Kevin move on once and for all.

Notes on Season 14- Part 2 (contains spoilers, are mostly complaints about Torres and Quinn, and are my personal opinions, don’t @ me)
Since Season 14 started rerunning in Australia on 9 October, I’ve decided to write down things I forgot or would like to emphasise upon:
Keep Going
Jimmy immediately running up to Ryan without a second thought, aww
Torres trying to be the hero, seriously?
Suicide is such an important, delicate topic, and it was done really well (with great acting, too)
Quinn is such a buzzkill, ugh
This dialogue is truly summing up millennial work experiences
Torres is such a dumbass, and not a cute one
Jimmy talking about Gibbs was so adorable and sad
Jimmy passing the M.E. test but not telling anyone because he didn’t want things to change was so relatable, I would’ve done the same thing
Tears were in my eyes since halfway through the episode, but the hug was what made them fall out
All those flashbacks throughout the episode brought back so many memories, and gave us great insight into Jimmy’s character
WHY COULDN’T REEVES HAVE BEEN THE THIRD AGENT SO TORRES AND QUINN WOULD HAVE NEVER EXISTED AND CBS WOULD’VE SAVED HEAPS OF MONEY HIRING ONE MAIN CHARACTER THAT AUDIENCES ALREADY KNEW AND LOVED INSTEAD OF TWO NEW ANNOYING ONES
Nonstop
Torres really is terrible at inferring and keeping up with conversations
The Sherlocks back at it again, plus Senior, aww
Everyone calling Jimmy ‘Doctor’ was so sweet
I love how they still don’t know what Lyle’s last name is
Does Quinn really have to insult everything and everyone she comes across?
Osorio shutting Torres’ obnoxiousness down was awesome
Bishop smashing the window was so badass
The clothes-swapping was pretty ingenious, and so was the interrogation bluff
WHY COULDN’T REEVES HAVE BEEN THE THIRD AGENT SO TORRES AND QUINN WOULD HAVE NEVER EXISTED AND CBS WOULD’VE SAVED HEAPS OF MONEY HIRING ONE MAIN CHARACTER THAT AUDIENCES ALREADY KNEW AND LOVED INSTEAD OF TWO NEW ANNOYING ONES
A Many Splendored Thing (Ep. 16, but for some reason it aired as Ep. 15)
Torres was such a dick about the pickpocketing, especially the fact that spilling coffee definitely isn’t a small thing, and Gibbs pickpocketing Torres was great- he got what was coming to him
Bishop’s wallpaper on her phone is the Washington Monument, so sweet
Stop complaining about first-world problems, Quinn- there are people with real ones, plus you should be focusing on the case
Reeves defending Bishop when he didn’t have to, aww
The congresswoman is okay, but I’m glad she and Vance didn’t become a proper thing- Jackie is his soulmate, and I don’t ship him with anyone else
Chen-turning-up-in-Gibbs’-house was a great plot twist, and so was him working with the CIA
Bishop and Reeves’ argument was so important, and so was Bishop and Qasim’s in the flashback
Quinn really does love stating the obvious, and Torres really does love doubting Bishop’s intentions
Bishop being a total badass was so awesome, and her ‘Sophie’s Choice’ plan was so poignant
The Qasim flashbacks throughout the episode were so sad
WHY COULDN’T REEVES HAVE BEEN THE THIRD AGENT SO TORRES AND QUINN WOULD HAVE NEVER EXISTED AND CBS WOULD’VE SAVED HEAPS OF MONEY HIRING ONE MAIN CHARACTER THAT AUDIENCES ALREADY KNEW AND LOVED INSTEAD OF TWO NEW ANNOYING ONES
What Lies Above (Ep. 17, but for some reason it aired as Ep. 16)
Of course Quinn’s being annoying as always, with her trying to get people to ask questions about her by saying elusive, secretive statements
I love the fact that Rosebud is hidden in a hollowed-out copy of Deep Six
‘Furrier’ is a questionable word (my mind immediately went to ‘furry courier’)
Why does Torres always have to be such a show-off
When someone has unnaturally-coloured hair, you know that they’re going to be important to the plot
The whole body-under-the-floorboards thing was very Edgar Allan Poe
Torres and Quinn are such hypocrites
The congresswoman was pretty annoying this episode
Torres said he could keep a secret- flashforward to S16 when he spilled the beans :/
Kate and Ziva, aww
Paul Triff was definitely an entertaining addition to this episode, and I really liked the storyline
M.I.A. (Ep. 18, but for some reason it aired as Ep. 17)
Quinn is such a dick even to waitstaff, ugh
Why is Torres so God. Damn. Annoying.
‘the more you talk the worse it gets’ hypocrite much, Torres?
Abby’s new thing with putting Caf-POW! in stuff is interesting, to say the least
I love it when Gibbs just puts the baseball bat over his shoulder and acts otherwise normally
Shut up Torres, she’s just trying to be nice to you and sympathetic to your experiences, so you could at least answer her politely instead of being an asshole about it
Lieutenant, you’re so pure and don’t have to apologise at all, especially to Torres
How are McGee and Bishop surprised that Quinn cheated on something, especially since it wasn’t mandatory (though I don’t know if it would’ve made much of a difference to her)
The end scene was sweet, but it wasn’t enough to make me feel sympathetic for Torres
Torres was such a douchebag in this episode, especially him talking about how much he loved Sofia- if he loved her so much, then why has he consistently been dating and playing with multiple girls’ feelings (including poor Bishop’s) since then
WHY COULDN’T REEVES HAVE BEEN THE THIRD AGENT SO TORRES AND QUINN WOULD HAVE NEVER EXISTED AND CBS WOULD’VE SAVED HEAPS OF MONEY HIRING ONE MAIN CHARACTER THAT AUDIENCES ALREADY KNEW AND LOVED INSTEAD OF TWO NEW ANNOYING ONES
The Wall (Ep. 19, but for some reason it aired as Ep. 18)
I kinda wish Torres and Quinn became an actual thing- it would’ve prevented Ellick from happening
Stop being so disrespectful, Torres, he’s a person with feelings
Poor Reeves- he’s so used to being alone that he self-destructs and isolates himself at every chance
Abby’s welcome mat for Henry was such a nice thing to do
The scene with Henry at the wall was so sad, and so was Gibbs and Reeves’ conversation in the car
Again, Quinn’s stating the obvious and being annoying about it
Torres and Quinn are so gross, but perfect for each other
The end scene was so sweet, it made me tear up straight away
Henry was the best part of the episode, and his and Reeves’ interactions were great and so important
A Bowl Of Cherries (Ep. 20, but for some reason it aired as Ep. 19)
Quinn’s mother is just as rude as she is
Reeves complimenting Bishop, aww
Vice Admiral Chase sending McGee the virus so he’d be forced to get rid of it was hilarious, you can’t deny
Torres is so self-obsessed
Bishop knows Reeves so well, too adorable
Gibbs’ little joke was pretty good
Ducky and Jimmy just sitting around and waiting for the bodies to thaw was awesome
Bishop and Reeves make such a great team whenever they pair up, and this episode was no exception
One Book, Two Covers (Ep. 21, but for some reason it aired as Ep. 20)
Torres is just so gross and inappropriate, it’s great whenever someone shuts him down
You chose to do all the things you’re whining about, Torres- you can’t complain
I love Vance’s analogies
That’s the second time by my count that the John Paul Joneses have been mentioned in this show
Oof, poor Bishop
Shut up Quinn, you know they’re not gonna talk that easily
I hate how Torres never thinks he’s wrong, and his writing is seriously messy- even more so than mine
Never underestimate Abby, Quinn- you should know better than that
I’m surprised Torres wasn’t fired when he resurfaced from undercover- the more his backstory is explored, the more of his misconduct is revealed
I know this episode was meant to make people like Torres and feel sympathetic for him more, but it just solidified my hatred for him
WHY COULDN’T REEVES HAVE BEEN THE THIRD AGENT SO TORRES AND QUINN WOULD HAVE NEVER EXISTED AND CBS WOULD’VE SAVED HEAPS OF MONEY HIRING ONE MAIN CHARACTER THAT AUDIENCES ALREADY KNEW AND LOVED INSTEAD OF TWO NEW ANNOYING ONES
Beastmaster (originally Ep. 22, but for some reason it aired as Ep. 21)
Torres knows all about sexual harassment, no wonder he volunteered to teach the class
Torres being misogynistic not even five minutes in, ugh
‘how do you know that’ ‘he dated Abby’ was pretty funny
Quinn, nobody trusts you
Bishop knows six languages, I’m not surprised
The pot guy’s joke was actually pretty good
Could you say someone died in a more offensive way, Quinn?
Reeves and the pepper spray scene was hilarious
Oof, I knew Spitz would find a way to get herself in trouble- she’s a classic SJW (which isn’t a bad thing, but violating boundaries is)
The scene between Vance and the Ambassador was really sweet, and showed solidarity and empowerment
Gibbs and Dawson had such a great dynamic
Reeves was even more dashing than usual this episode- idk why
Poaching is such an important topic, I’m really glad there was an episode about it
WHY COULDN’T REEVES HAVE BEEN THE THIRD AGENT SO TORRES AND QUINN WOULD HAVE NEVER EXISTED AND CBS WOULD’VE SAVED HEAPS OF MONEY HIRING ONE MAIN CHARACTER THAT AUDIENCES ALREADY KNEW AND LOVED INSTEAD OF TWO NEW ANNOYING ONES
Something Blue (Ep. 23, but for some reason it aired as Ep. 22)
Reeves looks insanely hot no matter what he’s wearing, and Abby in her suit was absolutely incredible
Jimmy, you’re so adorable
Torres, don’t be such a dick- that song’s perfect for Delilah and McGee
I love how NCIS shows all the different jobs that the military has, not just combat
Vance’s advice to McGee was so sweet
Stop complaining, Quinn- YOU CHOSE THIS JOB
Delilah and Abby were right- McGee was kind of being a dick about the wedding planning
Quinn unknowingly insulting Torres was actually pretty great, and called out his misogynistic personality
The hospital scene with Gibbs and McGee was so heartbreaking and reminiscent of the S11 one, and the acting was incredible
Bishop playfully teasing Reeves was so cute, and them going undercover as boyfriend and girlfriend, COME ON
‘on what charge’ ‘doubting my accent’ was hilarious
Reeves leaning in close to Bishop, aww
Reeves and Bishop turning to look at each other straightaway, COME ON
The wedding was really cute, and Gibbs giving McGee his dad’s watch was so sweet, as well as the engraving on it
WHY COULDN’T REEVES HAVE BEEN THE THIRD AGENT SO TORRES AND QUINN WOULD HAVE NEVER EXISTED AND CBS WOULD’VE SAVED HEAPS OF MONEY HIRING ONE MAIN CHARACTER THAT AUDIENCES ALREADY KNEW AND LOVED INSTEAD OF TWO NEW ANNOYING ONES
Rendezvous (Ep. 24, but for some reason it aired as Ep. 23)
Abby’s baby shower idea was really sweet
Bishop and Reeves turning to look at each other was very Tiva-reminiscent
Torres, must you insult everyone and everything?
‘I’d rather be stuck in an elevator with Justin Bieber than back here’ great line
Just suck it up and do it yourself, Quinn- don’t force poor Bishop to do it
This Curtis guy is so slimy and gross
‘who wants to tell this bloke we found his missing hand’ Reeves, you’re killing me
Vance looking up when he heard Gibbs’ voice as if he was God was so funny
McGee’s come such a long way since his first episode, so proud
Bishop and Reeves were standing super-close this episode- it was so cute
WHY COULDN’T REEVES HAVE BEEN THE THIRD AGENT SO TORRES AND QUINN WOULD HAVE NEVER EXISTED AND CBS WOULD’VE SAVED HEAPS OF MONEY HIRING ONE MAIN CHARACTER THAT AUDIENCES ALREADY KNEW AND LOVED INSTEAD OF TWO NEW ANNOYING ONES

[ad_1] Regency-era romance saga "Bridgerton" took off immediately when it debuted on Netflix on Christmas Day 2020. With its grand galas and salacious sex scenes, no one could escape the hold of "Bridgerton" fever. For fashion lovers in particular, it was the dazzling costumes, with their romantic silhouettes and ornate accessories, that stole the show. "We had this amazing foundation from season one," lead costume designer Sophie Canale, who worked under costume leads Ellen Mirojnick and John Glaser for the show's first season, tells POPSUGAR. "But I really wanted to individualize every character this season, like really push them in their different directions." There is, for instance, a "real distinction" between the Bridgerton brothers this season, Canale notes. "I think in the way their color palettes are and also how Benedict is on his artistic journey," she says, referring to the second-eldest Bridgerton son, who seeks a less traditional life than his brothers and goes off to art school in the second season. "He's quite distinctive in his color palette and also the choice of fabrics for his waistcoats, which were different from the [other] men's costumes." The most buzzed-about addition to the "Bridgerton" universe is the Sharma family. "The Sharmas are bringing in a new color palette, but it was also [important to] make sure that everyone else who sits in the same room as them doesn't look jarring with the colors chosen," Canale says. Even the color shades had meaning. Anthony Bridgerton's (Jonathan Bailey) blue palette started out darker and lightened as he became closer to the woman who would ultimately become his wife. His journey up the color wheel was a nod to that romantic ending. "With Anthony, he's in very dark colors," Canale says. "We see, as [he and Kate Sharma] move along together, he becomes lighter and lighter and uses the teals to transition between the two characters." In total, the costume department produced 700 looks for the main cast, which was in line with what they'd created for the first season. According to Canale, that works out to making about 160 costumes every six weeks. What helps the endeavor feel less insurmountable is having a dedicated team of four assistant designers and cast members who don't mind multiple fittings. Typically, the female cast members had four fittings per dress. "You don't sleep very much," Canale says. "It's quick decision-making. It was a military operation: everyone knew which dates everything was ready for. The jewelry team would then have a copy of the fabric, a copy of a design. It's having very talented and skilled people that can work very quickly." Ahead, Canale walks POPSUGAR through the Sharma sisters' style, the sartorial evolution of Kate and Anthony, the story behind the Bridgerton wedding-ring heirloom, and more. window.fbAsyncInit = function() FB.init( appId : '175338224756', status : true, // check login status xfbml : true, // parse XFBML version : 'v8.0' ); ONSUGAR.Event.fire('fb:loaded'); ; // Load the SDK Asynchronously (function(d) var id = 'facebook-jssdk'; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; if (typeof scriptsList !== "undefined") scriptsList.push('src': 'https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js', 'attrs': 'id':id, 'async': true); (document)); [ad_2] Source link

Batwoman Season 2 Episode 5 Review: Gore on Canvas
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
This Batwoman review contains spoilers.
Batwoman Season 2, Episode 5
There is such a thing as doing too much, and Batwoman is on the cusp. The last two episodes have introduced two new characters, Angelique and Ocean, each with pre-existing relationships—and baggage. There are also no less than three independent, parallel searches for Kate Kane, which… *sighs*  Fine.
Angelique is Ryan’s ex-girlfriend that she caught the drug change for—a story that has some plot wobbliness. In the season premiere, Ryan said she was framed. In this episode, she says she willingly took Angelique’s drugs (to keep them from her) and was caught with them after she reacted negatively to street harassment by some Crows. While the Crows may have been on some bullshit, accosting her without cause, using “framed” to describe this interaction is, well… a stretch. I hope it’s a retcon and not Ryan’s actual interpretation of events. People are framed and people are unfairly harassed, and there is overlap, but these aren’t the same thing. Nevertheless, Angelique is back in Ryan’s life, but the circumstances that separated them might not have changed as much as Ryan believes. This romance will likely test Ryan’s commitment to Batwoman, and if the past is anything to go on, Ryan may falter.
Then there’s Ocean, Safiyah’s brother, who she sent Alice to kill. Last episode, when Alice saw a photo of Ocean, she had a flashback of him on Coryana. When she catches up to him, she doesn’t immediately kill him, and when he captures her, he has a similar flashback of her. They don’t know each other, but they clearly do. Now Alice’s attention is split between doing whatever needs to be done to find Kate, and uncovering the truth about her missing time on Coryana with Ocean. I both love a redemption arc and believe some people should just get to be bad. I think the desire to humanize and ultimately save villains is even stronger when the villain is a woman, so I am wary of how this new or rekindled romantic relationship with Ocean might be used to redeem Alice. That said, I want her to be less pressed about Kate and am happy for her to fixate on something or someone new.
There is one central mystery, which several subplots center around: what happened to Kate Kane? And another, smaller, but potentially more impactful one: what is the Kryptonite doing to Ryan? Last season, the Kryptonite shard was treated like a lethal weapon that could pierce the Batsuit and mortally wound its wearer. And it seems to be doing just that, albeit very slowly and painfully. What this means for Ryan is not yet known, but it’s clear there is something looming. And it could potentially be life-altering.
When it comes to Kate though, pretty much everything else is about her. The Crows and Alice are both taking Safiyah’s word on Kate’s wellbeing and pursuing different leads to find her. Sophie is desperate to bring back the love of her life. Alice is on the hunt for Ocean. Jacob is using The Crows’ vast resources and manpower to find Coryana, and a Jack Napier —Joker— painting seems to be the key. The overlap in interests for the Bat Team and the Crows  means Batwoman accepts a temporary alliance to infiltrate an illicit art exhibit and retrieve the painting. Of course, this is an uneasy alliance with distrust on both sides, and nothing good can come of it.
The Crows are private cops (I’m still not entirely sure how they work) and Gotham sees them like any other corrupt, law enforcing body. ACAB — All Crows Are Bastards. This episode doesn’t just say that, it also shows us one of the many ways that corruption manifests. When Wolf Spider (a known thief, one presumes) steals the Napier painting from The Collective’s exhibit, the Crows that chase him down ram him with their SUV, retrieve the painting, and leave them for dead on an isolated tarmac. If not for Batwoman already being in pursuit, they likely wouldn’t have been found before succumbing to their injuries. Ryan didn’t want to work with the Crows because of her own experiences with their corruption, and now that divide is even greater. The Crows and Batwoman will eventually come to a head, and it will be brutal.
Batwoman is not pulling back on any of its “wokeness” and it doesn’t feel disingenuous that social themes like racism, classism, and distrust in government and law enforcement are being explored. Season one did have rogue Crows operating illegally in Gotham—the same ones who murdered Lucius Fox—but they were treated like outliers and their positions and power weren’t fully interrogated. This season is taking that further, removing the degrees of separation between the Bad Actors and the Crows. This episode reminds us that even the “good” cops are still complacent and still working within a corrupt system. Sophie may have fired the Crows responsible for Wolf Spider, but it doesn’t address the root of the problem.
At the beginning of the season, I asked what Batwoman being Black might mean for her relationship with the Crows and I love that this is being explored. Ryan has her own personal history with the Crows, and it’s coupled with the Crows’ public mistreatment of Batwoman. There are levels to this relationship, and it’s all heightened when the entire city of Gotham is watching the conflict play out. I am enjoying the writing around this.
Batwoman is doing a solid job of managing its characters and weaving their individual stories together in meaningful ways, but that could easily get unwieldy. Right now, things make sense—as much as things can make sense in a comic book world— but any additional characters and subplots threaten to muddle things. The writers have to keep a firm grip on the plot, or it’ll be beyond control or comprehension. I have confidence in them, and in the show.
Additional thoughts.
A relationship I am happy to see developing is the one between Ryan and Luke. Luke has valid reasons for not wanting to replace Kate, but his standoffishness has been frustrating to watch. I’m glad there is a sense of trust and camaraderie forming between them.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
If Kate Kane doesn’t return [see: if Ruby Rose does not make a cameo] I’m going to feel manipulated. There were several opportunities to put Kate to rest, yet the show insists on keeping her alive in the hearts and minds of the characters and the audience. If that isn’t leading up to a definitive goodbye to Kate—and Rose— it’s going to be a goddamn bitch of an unsatisfactory situation.

This Is How Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Baby Will Change the Line of Succession
Learning to “fall” pregnant
David Fisher/Shutterstock Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are far from what many consider a traditional royal couple. But now that Meghan is pregnant with the newest addition to the royal family (who will be seventh in line, according to the rules of succession), there will be lots of traditions to uphold. And the first is that in British terms, one does not “get pregnant.” Rather, one “falls pregnant.” So when you hear that Meghan has “fallen pregnant,” please don’t be alarmed. It’s perfectly good news.
The maternity wardrobe can’t be too adventurous
Shutterstock While you’ll likely see a lot of Meghan during the seven/eight months during which she’s publically pregnant, what you won’t see is a lot of skin. While maternity fashions have become more body conscious in recent years, it’s virtually unheard of for an expectant royal to show cleavage—despite that larger breasts are as much a natural part of pregnancy as a swollen belly.
Morning sickness is a public matter
Shutterstock Kate Middleton suffered terrible morning sickness in all three of her pregnancies. It was so bad, in fact, that it had a clinical name: hyperemesis gravidarum, which the official royal website explained in a press release is “very acute morning sickness, which may require supplementary hydration, medication, and nutrients.” If Meghan’s pregnancy proves difficult, as Kate’s pregnancies were, Meghan won’t be suffering alone. The entire world will be suffering right along with her.
Forget comfy shoes
Shutterstock A woman’s bosom isn’t the only thing that swells when she’s expecting. Swollen feet are a normal part of pregnancy, and many women cope by wearing comfy shoes, especially sandals, which allow those poor tootsies to breathe. But not expectant royals. Just as they must maintain decorum around their décolletage, they must also keep their toes covered, no matter how swollen their feet or how sweltering the temperatures. Of course, Meghan Markle is not always known to follow the rules; here are a number of ways in which Markle has already broken royal protocol.
Travel is truncated
Shutterstock Most pregnant women are advised against traveling in the third trimester. Royals, however, are advised against traveling at all during their pregnancies, especially overseas. But Meghan might get some wiggle room. The pregnancy news was announced right before she and Prince Harry launched a tour of Australia, and it can only be assumed that she’ll come back to England to give birth. Here’s what it’s like to travel like royalty.
No gender-reveal festivities
Shutterstock Since the 1950s, eager-to-know expectant parents have been happily dispensing with the “mystery” of whether they’re having a boy or a girl via sonogram. And some royals have joined in, including Princess Diana, who learned that Prince Harry would be a boy sometime during the pregnancy (although she didn’t tell Prince Charles, and here’s why). However, what a royal must never do is reveal the gender to the public in advance of the birth.
And about that christening gown…
Shutterstock Since 1841, every royal baby has been christened in an identical robe. The original robe was made for the christening of Queen Victoria’s oldest daughter. Queen Elizabeth was dressed in the same robe for her christening, and so were all her children. In fact, all the Queen’s grandchildren were dressed in that very robe until 2008, when the Earl and Countess of Wessex’s son was dressed in a replica designed to preserve the original, according to the BBC.
A limited layette
Shutterstock With the gender of the soon-to-be-born heir a tightly-held secret, Meghan won’t be able to prepare an elaborate layette, or at least she’ll have to go with a neutral color like yellow. In addition, anything but “formal” attire is frowned up for royal babies, so if Meghan has always dreamed of putting her baby in a bib embroidered with, “Spit happens,” sorry, but it’s not happening.
No baby shower
Tim Rooke/Shutterstock Meghan Markle won’t be showered with a cake made of diapers. The purpose of a baby shower is to “shower” the expectant mother with useful gifts she can use once her baby is born. To shower an expectant royal as such would be considered “bad taste.” That’s why Kate Middleton never had one, nor did Princess Diana or any other royal mummy. Don’t worry, the baby will still get lots of toys, just not these popular items that royal parents have banned.
Anyway, only special receiving blankets are used
Byron Kirk/Shutterstock A popular baby shower gift is a receiving blanket, which is a small, lightweight blanket used for swaddling your baby. But there will be no point in gifting Meghan and Harry with receiving blankets, as their baby’s will already have been made by G.H. Hurt & Son, which has been making all royal receiving blankets for the past century. Although when Prince George was born, he was famously introduced to the world in an Aden + Anais swaddle.
Forget home birth
Shutterstock Having spent her share of time in Hollywood, Meghan Markle could be forgiven if she sometimes thinks about what it would be like to give birth at home or even in a bathtub. But it’s not happening. Ironically, home birth was the way of the royals for far longer than it was the way of the general public, continuing all the way until the birth of Prince William in 1982 (Wills was the first royal heir to be born in a hospital). However, ever since then, the protocol is to deliver at St. Mary’s Hospital, in the Lindo Wing. Here are 13 other royal rules Meghan Markle must follow now.
Be prepared for baby’s first photo opp
Shutterstock Even when Kate Middleton had wanted to give birth at home in the Palace, it was not to be. The reason? Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told the Express that “the photos on the hospital steps of St Mary’s are a way of connecting with the public at large at a happy time.” And even if a royal baby were born elsewhere (say, in the case of an emergency, as was the case with Sophie, Countess of Wessex, in 2003), “an immediate photocall would have to be arranged if paparazzi didn’t get a ‘traditional one.'” Don’t miss these 19 official portraits of the royal family.
But first, tell the Queen
FACUNDO ARRIZABALAGA/EPA-EFE/Shutterstock When a royal baby is born, the Queen must be notified first and must learn all the details of the royal baby before any information goes public, according to the Express. And please note: If the baby is born before 8 a.m., the Queen must not be woken. “Babies be damned, the Queen needs her beauty sleep,” explains The List. Find out the 14 etiquette rules every royal must follow.
Royal birth announcements
Eddie Mulholland For The Telegraph/Shutterstock When the royal baby is born, Meghan won’t be picking out baby announcements from the local Hallmark shop. Rather, the baby’s arrival will be announced by a town crier, followed by a typewritten statement placed on an easel in front of Buckingham Palace. As the BBC explains, the public announcement of a royal birth “involves lots of pomp and circumstance.” Read on for 10 royal birthday traditions you didn’t know existed.   [skyword_tracking]

Doctors' mental health problems 'last taboo'
Impression caption Sophie Spooner feared that her psychological health and fitness troubles would not be kept confidential if she asked for enable
People count on doctors to seem after their mental wellbeing but is sufficient getting finished to help the medical professionals when they are the ones with problems? There are problems that some healthcare pros in England are not able to get the help they have to have.
In 2016, 26-yr-previous junior health practitioner Sophie Spooner suffered a worry assault when doing the job on a paediatrics ward.
Twenty-4 hrs afterwards, she experienced taken her individual existence.
Her mom, Dr Laurel Spooner, believes her suicide was the outcome of despair which she experienced struggled with in the past. She had previously been diagnosed with bi-polar disorder.
“She was on the lookout for a mental wellbeing support that would have comprehended her psychological health and fitness trouble in the context of getting a doctor,” Dr Laurel Spooner instructed the BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire programme:
“If she could have seen somebody… and experienced the suitable medication, I be expecting she would nevertheless be here.”
‘Incredibly large risk’

TV: The Americans Picking up three years after the conclusion of season five, The Americans finds the Jennings in a very different world. While Philip (Matthew Rhys) has moved away from the KGB spy life to focus on their travel-agency cover business, Elizabeth (Keri Russell) and their daughter Paige (Holly Taylor) are now involved deeper than before. Stan Beeman (Noah Emmerich) has settled down and shuttered the Soviet task force.
The sixth and final season of the show – a shortened run of 10 episodes, which ended earlier this week – uses the time jump to push its fictional world closer to the geopolitical upheaval around the corner (the end of the Cold War), though it’s more interested, as always, in how people get caught up on the other sides of battle lines through no inclination of their own.
Critics are full of praise for the season finale, calling it a heart-breaking and excellent end to a terrific show, and some labelling it one of the top 10 finales of all-time. “Part of the reason The Americans became such a rare treat is because it so rarely bowed to the usual pressures of TV story-building,” Variety’s Caroline Framke wrote. “It allowed itself to be slow and insular in a deliberate way that almost always found a satisfying payoff.”

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock – the latter of whom served as showrunner for the former’s previous comedy 30 Rock – for Netflix, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt follows Kimmy, a woman in her thirties, who was rescued along with three others from a doomsday cult in Indiana, where Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne (Jon Hamm) had held them for 15 years.
After getting out, Kimmy decides to move to New York City, where she meets gay, struggling actor, Titus Andromedon (Tituss Burgess), and street-wise landlady Lillian Kaushtupper (Carol Kane), and gets a job as a nanny for high-strung and lonely socialite Jacqueline Voorhees (Jane Krakowski). In the three seasons since, Kimmy adjusts to modern-day customs and slowly rebuilds her life, going to college among other things.
The show’s fourth and final season will air in two parts, with six episodes earlier this week and the other six in January 2019. Reviews have been positive: The Atlantic’s Sophie Gilbert noted how it “jokes, over and over again, about how injustice is ingrained within every level of society”, and Vox’s Alissa Wilkinson said “the darkness that’s always been present is finally breaking through, even though it’s also loaded with the same hysterical one-liners and fast-paced humour”.

Pose Prolific producer-creator Ryan Murphy, who recently signed a $300-million deal with Netflix, is back with a new show on FX: a musical dance drama called Pose, created by Murphy, Brad Falchuk (Glee), and Steven Canals. Set in the mid-1980s New York, it looks “at the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society: the rise of the luxury Trump-era universe, the downtown social and literary scene and the ball culture world”.

Well-known actors include Kate Mara (Megan Leavey), Evan Peters (American Horror Story), James Van Der Beek (Dawson’s Creek), Angelica Ross (Her Story), and stage performers Billy Porter and Charlayne Woodard. The show starts Sunday in the US, and will be available on Hotstar in India from Monday.
Reviews are mostly favourable. Entertainment Weekly’s Kristen Baldwin said: “For all of its ballroom flash and diva fierceness, Pose is a sweet, touching drama about finding your family, your purpose, yourself.” The Hollywood Reporter’s Dan Fienberg noted “an introductory quality to the opening episodes” and added: “Pose is poignant, funny and completely accessible, whether you’ve been part of this community or your only point of reference is Madonna’s ‘Vogue’ video.”

Directed by Ryan Coogler (Creed), the film received stellar reviews upon release from critics, including us. Thanks to an impressive cast, three-dimensional characters (plus a great villain), stellar writing and direction, resonating themes, and a soundtrack like no other Marvel film, Black Panther is likely the best of the MCU lot. Street Fighter: 30th Anniversary Edition has received good reviews. It looks good on modern hardware despite the respective age of the 12 titles (between 1987 and 1999), sports responsive controls, sounds great, and has a lot on offer in main content and extras. The only things we didn’t like were a lack of context in some places, and a higher price on the Switch.
