According to historical records, Reckong Peo was born on May 1st, 1960, and his previous name was Kinnaura. The Tibetan Guge Kingdom governed the region from the ninth to the twelfth centuries, giving rise to the name Guge. The district's area was divided into seven sections once the authority was founded; these divisions were all known to as Sat Khund. Following that, Akbar seized control of the region, and it soon joined the Mughal Empire. The district, which later adopted the name Chini Tehsil after the Mughal Empire fell, played a significant role in the neighborhood's development. There was a District Chini Tehsil.
There are many facilities in Reckong Peo, including pharmacies, grocery stores, and stores that sell tech items.
