happy ending // l.wienroither x williamson!reader
Tumblr media
summary: after signing with arsenal, you tear your acl and move into the ‘acl house’. you and laura grow close much to the dismay of your older sister leah
“now this is the kit you belong in.”
you rolled your eyes at beth, yelping loudly as an arm wrapped around your neck and yanked you down.
“it’s only taken her ten years to finally get that badge back on her chest.” katie teased and you clawed at her arm.
“let go of me!”
“don’t break her, katie,” leah laughed, stepping forward to help you out. “i’d very much like her to step foot on that pitch in one piece.”
as soon as katie’s grip loosened, you ran straight over to beth, taking shelter in her cubby. you glanced down at the arsenal crest on your jersey, feeling pride swell in your stomach.
unlike your sister, you didn’t sign with arsenal after leaving the academy. you signed your first senior contract with manchester city. of course leah wasn’t best pleased since you’d both been arsenal fans for as long as you could remember but ultimately she would support you no matter what you ever decided to do. needless to say, she was ecstatic when you told her that you’d signed for arsenal and would be transferring in the january window. and after two weeks of being back in london and training with the girls, you had your first arsenal start.
“nervous?” leah asked as the team made their way into the tunnel.
“a little.” you admitted, glancing back at her.
“you’ll be great, we williamson’s are.” she winked at you and a small smile grew on your face.
katie clapped you on the back as the teams began making their way onto the pitch and despite it being an away game, you could already hear the arsenal fans chanting.
standing in the joie stadium as part of the away team was surreal for you. it was once your home and with a quick movement of a pen, you had become a visitor. you shared smiles and quick handshakes with your former teammates before running off with your new ones.
“you got this little leah.” katie whispered to you and you rolled your eyes fondly at the nickname you’d been given.
and for the first ten minutes of the match, everything seemed perfect. or as perfect as things could be.
as you moved to kick the ball, your foot got caught on the ground and you fell the floor, clutching your knee in agony. straight away you knew what you’d done.
despite being on the other side of the pitch, leah somehow made it over to you before anyone else. her legs were moving before her brain could really register your cry of pain, hearing caitlin frantically calling for the medics.
leah knelt by your head, wiping your tears as the medical staff stabilised your leg. there was no argument to be had when she motioned for herself to be subbed off as well.
your sister held your hand through it all. through the initial examination, the news that you had indeed torn your acl as you’d suspected, even after you arrived back at your apartment a week later after your surgery.
in leah’s eyes you’d been the picture of strength. you hadn’t shed a tear—that she’d seen. and you held your head high as you hobbled around on your crutches.
and to you, leah had been your rock. a reason to not give up. she held it together for the both of you and not once had she left your side.
so after a few weeks leah decided to pop to the shop whilst you were napping—something you’d done a lot. but you woke up. and as you slowly began to realise leah wasn’t there, you looked down at your knee, tears burning in your eyes at the scars that littered your skin.
for the first time in weeks you let yourself feel. and you cried and cried, letting all the emotions you’d held back flow from you like endless waterfalls.
when leah re-entered the apartment and heard you crying, she panicked. she quickly placed the bags down before rushing over to you, pulling you into her arms and holding you tightly. she hummed quietly until you stopped crying, a shaky sigh leaving your lips.
you knew leah well enough to recognise her body language, she was tense and clearly holding something back. it was her turn to sigh and she gently ran her fingers through your hair. “bub, can we talk?”
“about what?”
“before you say no, i want you to really think about this, okay?” the tone of leah’s voice had you sitting up to really look at her. “i think you should move in with beth and viv. they can do more for you than i can right now. and laura’s there as well.”
your eyebrows furrowed and you could feel your lips trembling. “but why? this is—this is fine. we’re doing okay. i need you to help me leah, i don’t trust anyone else—“
“and i will help you in any way i can but i mean that they can do more for you up here,” she gently tapped your temple. “you need help with it mentally and i can’t do that for you. they can.”
leah watched as different emotions flashed across your face in quick succession and you looked at her. “you’ll come visit me right?”
“i’m not banishing you back to manchester,” leah laughed and you pouted at her. “you’ll be ten minutes down the road.”
“…but you’ll visit?”
“try and stop me.”
-
you moved into beth and viv’s house fairly quickly but you’d not made much of an effort to leave your newly appointed bedroom until you got the news that you could get rid of your crutches around a week later.
beth and viv were miles ahead in their recovery so you were thankful that you had laura—who had done her acl about a month before you. it was further proving leah’s point that you were exactly where you needed to be. and it was nice that a lot of the other arsenal girls popped in and out every day to see you all.
but with you off crutches, it meant that you had a lot more freedom and with a heavy heart, you attended a game at the emirates as a spectator.
at the end of the match, you couldn’t help but feel a little bitter seeing the girls celebrating with the fans. it wasn’t their fault but you hated that you weren’t out there with them because you should’ve been.
a finger lightly tapping your arm brought you out of your head and you turned to see laura smiling at you. “are you coming?”
you nodded with a smile, linking your arm through hers and following beth and viv onto the pitch.
once you were there, you walked as fast as you could to leah, throwing your arms around her. she chuckled and returned the hug, guiding over to where the girls had begun the huddle. you stood proudly between leah and laura, listening intently to kim. you waved to victoria—the other january signing—who stood across from you.
“celebrations at the acl house tonight i reckon!” katie called as everyone made their way into the lockeroom.
the suggestion was met with several cheers. beth and viv were more than happy to open up their home and that’s how you found yourself nibbling on a slice of pizza, listening to leah and katie squabble about exactly who it was that cheated at mario kart.
“you know, i like you,” someone said and you froze mid-bite, turning to look at steph. “you bring a much needed sense of calmness to this team.”
“thanks?”
“and you’re a lot easier to like than your sister.” caitlin added quietly.
you glanced over at leah to see that she was still arguing with katie and had she heard caitlin’s comment, absolutely would’ve kicked off. the three of you burst into giggles and you found yourself sticking close to the australian duo for the rest of the night.
but once the house had cleared, you found yourself in laura’s room, curled up in her bed whilst she slept soundly next to you.
leah was sat on the coach when her phone buzzed. she pulled up the text from beth and frowned down at it. suddenly she wished that the acl crew hadn’t opted out of joining the trip to broadfield stadium.
“what’s that face for?” lia asked the blonde, kicking her leg gently. leah slid her phone over, crossing her arms over her chest. “this?”
“yes.”
lia laughed and handed the phone back. “it’s a cute photo, what’s the problem?”
leah shrugged and looked down at the photo again. you were wrapped in laura’s arms, head resting on her chest. her arm was hidden under your hoodie, one of your hands gripping the one she was wearing. it was a cute photo but that didn’t mean she had to like it.
when the team arrived back in london, beth and viv’s house was leah’s first destination. after being let in by viv, leah found you outside with laura, the two of you huddled under a blanket, the austrian giggling at something you’d said.
“they’re cute, right?” beth asked, stepping beside her teammate.
“cute.” leah scoffed.
“you wanted this.”
“no i wanted to get her some support,” leah said. “not find her a new girlfriend.”
“laura’s a good person, leah, you know that better than anyone.”
leah’s jaw clenched. laura was a good person but so was your ex-girlfriend. but leah could remember that phone call like it happened yesterday, how you sobbed so hard that you could barely breathe or get the words out to tell your older sister that you had been cheated on and kicked out. and really the only reason leah didn’t end up in manchester is that chloe offered to take you in until you sorted yourself out with a promise that she and your other man city teammates would look after you.
“leah,” beth spoke quietly, tearing the other blonde’s eyes from you. “your sister really likes her.”
leah hummed in confusion until she looked down at the box that beth had put on the counter. she opened the box and her face softened a little bit upon seeing all the austrian sweets and treats sitting neatly inside. it was clear that you’d taken your time to arrange them and even to decorate the box. a soft sigh fell from her lips.
“oh hi lee,” she heard you say before your arms were wrapping around her in a hug.
“my god beth, put that away before she sees!”
“oh relax, she’s still outside,” beth rolled her eyes and you narrowed yours. “fine. it’s going back.”
you smiled sweetly before grabbing two bottles of water from the fridge and heading back outside. you held one out to laura who took it with a mumbled thanks, sitting next to her again.
“i do not think your sister likes me anymore.” laura said and you furrowed your eyebrows, looking over at the austrian.
“what? of course she does,” you insisted as laura shook her head. “laur, you are literally one of her favourite people on earth. you might even rank higher than me.”
you followed her gaze to the kitchen window just in time to see a flash of blonde disappear. with a quiet sigh, you mentally abandoned the plan you had and ventured back inside, giving leah a dirty look before grabbing the box from where it was hidden.
“this is for you,” you’d said quickly once you’d reached laura again, shyly holding the box out to her. “it’s a very late birthday present and a kind of thank you present, i guess. you’ve shown me kindness and patience over the last few weeks when i sometimes definitely didn’t deserve it.”
the silence that followed and the unreadable look on laura’s face had you thinking you’d done something wrong. there was clearly some line or boundary that you’d crossed and there was no going back.
but then laura smiled. a big toothy grin that had your stomach fluttering and your cheeks ablaze.
“where did you find all of this?” she asked you, hurrying to grab the box and rifle through the contents.
“online. there’s a few websites that have international food, i stumbled upon an austrian one whilst looking for a spanish one and… here we are.”
after a few taste tests of the ones laura deemed her favourites, the two of you laid back in silence, staring up at the sky. whilst you were content, you could see laura shifting every so often out of the corner of your eye so you reached out and grabbed her hand, entwining your fingers with hers.
and for a minute or two, it did feel make laura feel a little better but her mind wandered back to leah—and the glares she’d been on the receiving end of and your other teammates—who had told the austrian on many occasions that she needed to just bite the bullet and ask you out because you obviously fancied her too.
“laur,” you said softly, squeezing her hand to catch her attention. “you okay?”
laura nodded and turned to look at you properly, clearing her throat. “would you like to go out with me?”
your eyebrows furrowed slightly. “like… a date?”
“yes. a date.” laura confirmed, watching the grin grow on your face.
“well i thought you’d never ask.”
-
the fans erupted into cheers as the whilst blew, indicating the end of the match. without a second thought, you raced over to laura, throwing yourself into her arms. “i did it laur! i actually did it!”
“you did,” laura laughed at your excitement, bringing her hands up to wipe your tears before they could fall. “and i am so proud of you.”
the things you were feeling were magical and it took everything you had to hold back from pulling your girlfriend into a kiss in front of the sell out emirates crowd who had just witnessed you play your first full ninety minutes since returning.
“i love you. i know i don’t say it a lot but i really do—“
“ugh lovebirds enough!” leah shouted, throwing her arm around laura’s neck and dragging her away from you. “i’m kidnapping your girl, hope you don’t mind!”
you really didn’t. seeing leah and laura go back to the way they were before you came along was everything you wanted. and as the days passed, you grew more and more convinced that you had finally found your happy ending.

y/ndoesballet i do! i posted it, let me know if you'd like me to DM it to you 🫶🏼
lw6lover532 who is she?
amandapier32 she's like the world's most famous ballerina??
warsenal231 i love her interactions with Lotte, they are both so wholesome!
As you were cheering from your seat in the crowd after Arsenal succesfully beat Watford 3-1, Lotte caught your eye. She quickly ran over to your section and the people around you started cheering and asking her to sign their things.
"Oi, Y/N get over here!" She shouted into the crowd which made many people turn to you and a light pink blush washed over your cheeks.
As you walked down the stairs towards the barrier you were mumbling apologies to those you bumped into and heard a few people recognise you, "Great game you had, hey?" You offered shyly to the Arsenal player.
"You might be our new lucky charm," She quiped and you both let out a light laugh, "You should come down and meet the girls, they've been buzzing to meet you!"
Your eyes widened at the statement but before you could get a word in she turned to the left slightly and pointed, "Theres Laura and Leah there, come on I'll take you over," She grabbed your hand and directed to you over to where the girls were sitting.
When Leah looked up and noticed you she stood up with a smile on her face, "Oh my god, Y/N hi," She stepped closer to you and wrapped you into a friendly hug.
"Hi," You said breathlessly, in awe of the player infront of you.
"Y/N this is Laura and Leah, girls, this is Y/N. Big fan she is," She teased snarkily.
You turned towards her in betrayel, "I thought we were friends?" You asked with a hand on your heart, "And now your trying to embarrass me infront of some of my favourite players? How dare you?" Your turned you back jokingly on Lotte and gave Laura a hug, "It is so nice to meet you guys, she was right thought. I am a huge fan!" You smiled sheepishly and Lotte shook her head at you in bemusement.
"I'm a big fan of yours aswell, I've been to a few of your shows and every time you amaze me!" Laura complimented.
You placed your hand on your heart, "You have no idea how much that means to me," You pretended to wipe away a tear.
"How about we go say 'hi' to the other girsl?" Leah implored.
A large smile quickly overcame your face, "I would love that!"
The girls lead you to the pitch and you had to take a minute to look around in awe of how many people had come to watch the game, "I think I'd pass out if this many people came to watch me dance," You stated, wonderstruck.
They laughed at you and as you were still looking around the stadium you failed to notice a certain group of players heading your way.
"Hey, is'nt that Y/N?" Viv asked the group as she was looking at Lotte, Leah and Laura talking to someone she couldn't quite recognise.
Beth's head snapped over and she quickly recognised the ballerina looking around the stadium with a dazed look on her face, "Oh, it is! We have to go say 'hi', come on ladies!" She grabbed Viv by the hand and gestured to the rest of the girls to follow.
Movement on the pitch caught your eye and brought you out of your daze but panic was quick to fill you, "Lotte!" You whisper-yelled and grabbed onto her arm.
She looked at you concerned, "What? What's happened?" She looked around for threats becoming confused when she saw none.
You let go of her arm with one hand and placed it on your heart, "They're all coming over," You confided meekly.
Lotte, Laura and Leah laughed lightly at you and looked over your shoulder, "You've got nothing to worry about. They are all lovely and I know most of them have been wanting to meet you," Laura comforted.
Beth had released Viv from her grip and skipped eagerly over to your small group, 'Hiya, y/n/n!" She waved before pulling you into a hug which she broke before you could reciprocate, "It's lovely to meet you, Lotte's talked about you, all nice things of course, and mainly because I've asked about you maybe a million times. I am a huge fan by the way, I've seen quite a few of your shows and you are just magnificent! I can't imagine even trying half the things you do, and you do them with such grace! And-" You were blushing as the blonde continued to compliment you and she was beginning to turn red from lack of oxygen.
While you loved getting compliments, especially from people you look up to, you were grateful when Viv stepped in, "Beth, love, maybe take a breath or you'll pass out," She joked and Beth joined in with the group's light giggling, "It is lovely to meet you, y/n/n, Beth talks about you a lot and I've seen some of your performances, you are incredible," She wrapped her arm around Beth who sunk into her side.
You laughed awkwardly, you could admit you loved being complimented but you could also admit you never knew how to respond, "Thank you, it means a lot." You smiled brightly around the group, "I have to say the same for you lot though, I could never run for 90 minutes or even kick a ball straight for that matter, congratulations as well for the win! I don't actually know all the rules but you guys won so you must of been really good!" You flushed when you realised you had just admitted that you didn't know the rules of football to a group of professional footballers.
"Don't worry, Katie over here sometimes forgets how to legally tackle," Kyra poked.
"You little shit," Kyra took off running when Katie began to chase her.
"She's going to get punched one day that one," Caitlin laughed.
Lotte went around the group that had formed and introduced you to all of her teammates. You guys were stood there for at least 10 minutes just chatting when Lotte turned the conversation back to you, "Would you like to come out with us, y/n/n? We're going to a little restaurant to celebrate, you're more than welcome to come. I'm sure everyone would like to get to know you better," Lotte offered and there were quiet sounds of agreement coming from the girls.
You beamed at the group, "How could I say no?"

## leah williamson & awfc x american!reader !!
Tumblr media
contains implied themes of domestic abuse
next chapter - series masterlist - account masterlist
under 1k words.
“no you don’t fucking get it, bradley!”
“maybe i just don’t care!”
“grow up, brad.”
you walked away at that, grabbing your car keys off the hook and leaving the house - slamming the door behind you. it had happened quick, a comment thrown into conversation at the wrong time and it had gone down like a lead balloon.
you were in the kitchen, packing away the dishes from the dishwasher when he had come downstairs - phone in hand and still in his pjs from the night before. you weren’t trying to argue, asking him when he was going to get dressed and ready for your evening plans when he had snapped.
it had been brewing for days, hiding in the corners of your flat and shadowing your every move around the city. you could feel it at home, at work. you spent hours of the day trying to justify it to yourself, sighing and heaving deep breaths about how ‘every couple fights’ - but in all honesty, it felt like you and brad did nothing but fight. each of them starting and ending almost identically. he would snap at something you said, you would get pissed off and storm out and then you would go days without speaking.
the argument was three weeks ago. you didn't go back that night, or the next day. not for an entire week. you were done, mentally and physically.
you tried to justify it to everyone around you, divulging into how much he had on his pla te with work, but the constant bickering had been slowly eating you up inside like a bacteria feeding on your energy. until eventually, you realised that it wasn't normal how you would spend at least fifteen minutes outside the house every day after work, composing yourself with a few tender breaths from the safety of your car - dreading what may lay across the threshold. it wasn't normal how you would flinch when his hand raised above him too fast and too high. it wasn't normal how you felt a weight lift off of your shoulders at the thought of never, ever seeing him again.
you weren't really a 'party' girl as such (and as encouraged as your friends), after college you decided to settle into the life you had started to make. you got a job, a nine to five - spending every day talking to people about their problems and ways they could fix it. you got a house, pumping thousands and thousands and thousands into rent and essentials. when brad got his promotion, he decided it would be better for you to take a step into a more 'traditional' role. so for him, you stayed home. you cleaned, cooked and cleaned some more - until the copious amounts of bleach and detergent could no longer wash away the messy smudge of life.
you had come to terms with it now and had made peace with the fact that this specific chapter of your life was closed. buried. burnt and sent straight into the belly of hell.
so after the breakup, as any good friends do, they waited. they waited until you were ready. then they dragged you out of the house and into their favourite bar, a bar you had never stepped foot in and promised you would be forgetting all about brad.
in some ways, they were right.
well, in every way they were right.
so, so right.
chapter one will be here shortly, enjoy, love always - RGx

Prompt no 4 with laura wienroither where reader is lia walti's younger sister. She is newly signed to arsenal. Laura has a crush on her and tries to flirt with her but the reader is the most dense person and the team helps laura to woo the reader. Thanks
Tumblr media
"Are you asking me out?"
Laura Wienroither x reader
warnings: none
Laura Wienroither couldn't help but feel a flutter of nerves as she glanced across the training ground at arsenal's newest signing Lia Wälti's younger sister, y/n. Ever since she had joined the team, Laura had found herself inexplicably drawn to her charm and infectious laughter.
However, much to Laura's frustration, the younger Wälti seemed completely oblivious to her attempts at flirting. Whether it was a subtle compliment or a playful tease, y/n's reactions ranged from polite smiles to confused nods, leaving Laura feeling disheartened but determined.
Determined not to give up, Laura enlisted the help of some of her teammates. Together, they came up with a plan and devised clever strategies to help Laura capture y/n's attention.
From strategic seating arrangements during team dinners where Katie randomly felt the need to shove y/n into the seat next to Laura claiming it had the best view, to orchestrated coincidences on the training pitch, where Laura kept randomly getting chosen to be y/n's drill partner. Laura's teammates spared no effort in their mission to make y/n see what was right in front of her.
Despite their best efforts, y/n remained blissfully unaware of Laura's intentions, much to the amusement of the rest of the team. But Laura refused to be discouraged, determined to find a way to break through y/n's obliviousness and win her affection.
Finally, on a crisp autumn afternoon, as the team gathered for a post-training cool down, Laura mustered up the courage to make her feelings known. Taking a deep breath, she approached y/n, her heart pounding with nervous anticipation.
"y/n/n, can I talk to you for a moment?" Laura asked, her voice trembling slightly with nerves.
Y/n looked up, her eyes bright with curiosity. "Of course, Laura. What's on your mind?" she replied, her smile warm and inviting.
With a shaky exhale, Laura took y/n's hand in hers, her gaze steady as she met her eyes. "I... I've been trying to tell you something for weeks now," she admitted, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. "I... I really like you."
Y/n's eyes widened in surprise, her lips parting in realization. "Wait, are you asking me out?" she asked, her voice tinged with disbelief.
A soft chuckle escaped Laura's lips as she nodded, relief flooding her heart at y/n's sudden clarity. "Yes, I've been trying to ask you out and hint that I like you for weeks now," she confessed, her smile growing wider with each passing moment.
"I was wondering why you were acting so weird, and Katie come to think of it," y/n replied as she thought back over the last couple of weeks. She then said, "I would love to go on a date with you."
The entire team decided to make their presence known as they cheered them on. Y/n leaned in and kissed Laura on the cheek as Laura blushed.
Y/n then said, "was I really that oblivious" and the whole team replied yes in a variety of ways.
Lia came and wrapped an arm around her sister as she also replied, "it was the most painful thing I ever watched."

the set up II l.wienroither x reader
"-yeah she said she'd be here at ten but she's probably still on australian time." beth shrugged as viv gave her a look and laura frowned a little in confusion.
"that is not how it works." viv sighed with a shake of her head as her blonde girlfriend grinned with a shrug. "who will be here?" laura asked curiously, engaged in a fierce game of tug of war with myle on the sofa.
"oh my cousins coming over! the one whose been livin in australia for a couple years." beth exclaimed happily, kicking a few pairs of shoes out of the way as viv hurried to put them away in their proper place afterwards.
"oh she is back now? cool, have you seen her yet?" laura asked, hissing a little as her focus slipped and myle teethed on her hand for a moment. "no!" laura remanded firmly as the puppy watched on unfazed, launching off the sofa toward one of her toys.
"yeah she's moved back here now, living with her best mate until she can find a place of her own. we went for dinner a few days ago and caught up, she's a girl with a lot of stories." beth chuckled, the door bell cutting her off before the conversation could go any further.
myle barked and sprinted off to the door, getting under beths feet as she scooped her up and swung it open. laura wasn't able to see much still sat in the living room by herself, now suddenly wishing she'd asked before inviting herself over like she normally would.
"urgh beth! i don't know where her tongues been." you whined as your cousin held myle up allowing her to lick all over your face before viv came to save you and gently tugged the puppy away into her own arms.
"welcome back!" you grunted as your cousin quite literally jumped on top of you, stumbling a little as your knees almost buckled but you caught your footing. "i saw you a few days ago you idiot." you laughed, squeezing her before she dropped back down.
"but i didn't see you for like a year beforehand so i win!" beth stuck her tongue out as you rolled your eyes. "she's so tiny." you grinned, viv handing you myle as you cooed at the small dog, craning your head away to avoid her licking you again.
"don't avoid her kisses thats rude!" beth gasped snatching her back as you hugged viv hello. "our friend laura is here as well." the dutch woman nodded for you to follow, beth already disappearing.
laura felt herself get a little tongue tied as beth quickly introduced the two of you, and unsure how to best greet you she settled for a friendly wave and a smile which seemed to suit as you did the same and took a seat beside beth.
"your accent is all sorts of messed up we'll need to work on that if you want to be accepted as a british citizen again." beth teased as you playfully rolled your eyes, shoving her and falling into conversation.
an hour or so later beth and viv stepped out to get lunch ready, inviting both you and laura to stay as the two of you got to know each other better, finding it almost effortlessly easy to speak with one another.
"so why did you move back now?" laura asked, the subject not really having been brought up yet as you shrugged.
"australia is beautiful and the people are wonderful but its expensive to live there. and my family are all getting older and i miss seeing them as often, my friends are all getting engaged or having kids and it just felt like the right time to come home." you answered simply with a smile.
"and it would seem like the perfect time since i get to meet you!" you cooed at the small puppy sat chewing on a toy in between you and laura.
"lau's been trainin her!" beth poked her head in as you looked to the austrian impressed. "really? hope they're paying you for your services!" you grinned which she reciprocated. "i am a dog whisperer who sadly works for free." laura sighed dramatically.
"we pay you in food you're almost here now more than when you lived here laura!" beth yelled out from the kitchen. "go on, show me your skills." you smiled, tucking your legs beneath you and shuffling around a little.
"okay. myle, pang!" laura made a gun with her fingers and mimicked shooting, the small dog just looking up at her unmoving. "myle, pang!" the footballer tried again with a frown, huffing as again myle clearly didn't do as she wanted.
"myle, pang!" you hid a smile behind your hand as laura manhandled the dog, slamming her onto the sofa with a huff. "she is normally more obedient." the austrian blushed with embarrassment as viv whistled and myle leapt down and raced off to the kitchen.
"no that was brilliant, she fell down all by herself!" you teased the blonde who knocked her leg against yours with a playful glare as the two of you fell back into conversation.
"viv! look at them." beth whisper yelled to her girlfriend who raised an eyebrow but shuffled over none the less. "lau likes her!" beth grinned excitedly as vivs frown deepened. "what is not to like? i think i like her more than you." viv shrugged as beth scoffed.
"not like that. like likes her!" beth tried again as her girlfriend returned to dishing up lunch. "like likes?" the dutch questioned with an amused smile as beth rolled her eyes.
"yes! look at the way they're looking at one another. they're both single, around the same age, both could use a little somethin." beth shrugged like it was the most obvious idea ever.
"beth." viv warned with a raised eyebrow. "they would be quite cute you know, and then if they got married laura really would be part of the family!" beth grinned happily.
"no! you do not get to meddle, leave them be. if they like each other they will figure it out themselves." viv warned, pointing a pair of tongs at beth threateningly who huffed. "what those two? not a chance! all they need is a little loving push." the blonde winked and yelled out lunch was ready.
"are you coming to the match tomorrow?" laura asked curiously as the four of you sat around the dining table after lunch. "football isn't really my thing." you admitted with a shy smile as beth let out a long and overly dramatic sigh.
"yes she's the black sheep and the secret shame of the family, we actually exiled her to australia but clearly it didn't work." your cousin shook her head in disappointment.
"you do know you are sitting with three footballers, yes?" laura laughed as now you were the one to blush. "i'm not a sports person okay! thats not illegal." you rolled your eyes and sank a little deeper into your seat.
"you don't have to be a sports person to enjoy and support the womens game, terrible feminist you are." beth continued to tease as you scoffed.
"i am not! that is so unfair i don't enjoy watching any sports men or womens, equality!" you rebutted, beth and you arguing back and forth as viv nodded for laura to help her clear the table leaving you both to it.
when they returned it seemed you'd reached some sort of agreement as the conversation had shifted topics. "she's comin!" beth sang out with a victorious grin as you puffed air out of your nose and sent her a scowl.
"she bullied me into it and i'm only going in hopes of beth getting smacked in the face with the ball." you shrugged as now it was her turn to gasp and scowl. "when i'm on the return from a very serious injury? insensitive little shit you are." your cousin shook her head.
"you can sit with me and leah!" laura offered with a happy smile, frowning a little as you groaned and threw your head back. "not leah!" making your cousin laugh. "ohh yes leah, perfect idea lau!" beth grinned as you banged your head onto the table.
"what is so bad about leah?" the defender asked still a little confused. "she doesn't shut up the entire game and she mansplains everything to me like i'm a toddler!" you dragged your hands down your face as viv chuckled and patted your back.
"good! you need a 101 in proper football appreciation and education missy, and lau and lee will make sure that happens."
~
"yes i know! you told me that ten minutes ago leah." you sighed deeply as once again the blonde explained why the offside was called.
"im just making sure you understand! stop looking so miserable mate there's worse places you could be spending a sunday." leah pinched your cheek as you huffed and pushed her away, subconciously shuffling a little closer into laura who was sat on your other side.
"now do you see what i mean?" you whispered to the girl who let out a quiet laugh. "do you want to switch seats? i am very used to her talking." laura offered as you nodded eagerly and swapped, though leah was too busy groaning about the ref to pay much attention.
now freed from most of leahs commentary you instead found yourself much more enamoured in laura's takes on things, smiling at the way her nose scrunched up in annoyance when she disagreed with a call, or the way her eyebrows furrowed together and the tip of her tongue would push out when a pass was missed or possession taken.
"one thing i'll miss about australia is the weather." you huffed, wrapped in about five layers but still chilled to the bone as you were struggling to adjust back to the harsh realities of a frosty london winter.
"here, keep your ears warm." laura grinned, taking her her beanie off her head and tugging it onto yours, dismissing your protests with a wave of her hand and quickly changing the subject.
leah turning to lecture you about throw in etiquette was a little surprised to see laura now next to her, even more so as she noticed the way you two seemed so wrapped in your own little bubble as if you'd been friends for years.
with a raised eyebrow the blonde pulled out her phone, sending beth a message she knew wouldn't be seen until later and instead subjecting poor kim to her commentary who was sat on her other side.
by the end of the game you really could have sworn you'd known laura for years, it was near scary how comfortable you felt around her. which is why when beth offered for you to join some of the team for dinner and laura encouraged you come, you accepted.
though as you showed up to the restaurant beth had messaged, right on time, your guard was back up as you couldn't see your cousin or any of her teammates anywhere.
waiting outside in hopes everyone was just running late you breathed a little easier as laura showed up, the austrian caught a little off guard now as you pulled her into a hug which she settled into after a moment.
"no one is here?" laura frowned as you filled her in and shrugged. "beth said it was under her name maybe they are in another room or something." laura headed over to the front and gave beths name, and sure enough the hostess nodded for the two of you to follow her.
but as soon as she showed you to a table very clearly set for two, things started to make a little more sense. "oh sorry no-" laura tried to speak with the hostess but she was gone before she could say another word.
hearing your phone go you pulled it out reading the message from your cousin. "what?" laura questioned as you let out a scoff, turning your phone so she could read the message.
from; messy beffy ohhh no we got the time and the restaurant wrong....guess you and laura will just have to get dinner together instead, sorry!
"i don't understand. they forgot where we were going?" laura questioned clearly confused as you chuckled. "no, beth set us up." you sighed knowingly with a shake of your head. "she what?" lauras frown deepened a little.
"like...like a date. she's trying to set us up on a date." you explained knowing your cousin all too well, cheeks tinted slightly pink as lauras eyes widened in surprise. "oh." she stated bluntly, eyebrows shooting upward.
"but we don't have to! we can just go home, beth is just very very nosy." you assured, not wanting to make her uncomfortable. "no! we can stay, if you want to?" lauras own cheeks flushed red as you both stammered around your words before eventually taking a seat at the table.
the first half an hour was painfully awkward, both of you clearly a little unsure what this dinner actually was and not wanting to be the first to ask.
but once your food came and gave you some common ground the awkwardness began to melt away a little, both of you slipping back into a more comfortable pattern of conversation like you had before.
by the end of dinner once again it was like you'd known her for years, laughing and smiling and chatting about anything and everything as you both really got to know one another.
as you stepped away to go to the bathroom laura pounced, paying for dinner which you told her off for once you returned but your protests fell on deaf ears as she waved away all your offers to split the bill.
"what are you doing?" laura asked, seeing the uber app flash up on your phone as the two of you stepped out of the restaurant. "my best friend dropped me here but she isn't answering, i think she's asleep." you laughed with a shake of your head.
"i'll take you?" laura offered sincerely. "really? that would be great, thank you." you smiled, following her to her car.
"you can pay next time then!" laura teased as she pulled up outside your best friends house, who didn't live all too far from where you'd had dinner as you continued to berate her for paying. "you'd want to go out again?" you asked a little surprised as laura realised what she'd said.
"yes." the girl confirmed before she could overthink it, a smile settling into your features.
"good, i would too."
~
"do my eyes deceive me or are you here willingly and even looking like you might have enjoyed it?" leah gasped as you hovered by the barrier with a roll of your eyes, waving to viv over her shoulder who was busy trying to shake off victoria who'd jumped onto her back.
"don't get used to it williamson, i only come now you can't send me to sleep with your horrendous ongoing commentary and rules and boring chat." you teased, ducking as the taller blonde swung at you.
"please. i know the real reason you're here all too well buddy and whose name is on the back of that jersey even if you think you can hide it behind that jacket." leah smirked, ruffling your hair as your cheeks flushed bright red.
"shut up. i already get it enough from beth!" you groaned, pushing her away halfheartedly as the blonde you were really wanting to talk to started to make her way over.
"so its official then?" leah grinned happily, perking up as you shushed her. "no, we're just...enjoying our time together. now go away! go pester someone else." you rolled your eyes as leah chuckled, pulling you into a hug before racing off to catch up with lia.
"hi." you greeted with a soft smile as laura now arrived in front of you. "hello!" she beamed happily, the two of you settling into a hug which lasted a few seconds too long, neither of you really wanting to let go.
"red looks nice on you." laura poked at the arsenal home kit adoring your top half, the top she'd managed to wrestle you into this morning after you'd spent the night, placating all your whining with an abundance of sweet words and kisses.
"don't know, think i'd rather it was blue. i do really like light blue!" you teased, arsenal having just beat manchester city five to three. "sehr lustig, liebling." the austrian retorted in german making you frown.
"you promised no more german unless you tell me what it means, im still learning." you huffed with a frown. "with your very strange accent i don't think you will ever learn." laura teased with a smile, eyes flickering down to your lips for a moment.
"hey! i've been back here for weeks now, my accent is very very normal." you shook your head with a playful glare. but your conversation was interrupted as a flash of red barreled into laura, pulling her into a half hug half headlock.
"well hello lovebirds!" beth beamed, laura pushing her off with a roll of her eyes. "go away bethany." you sighed, but hugging her none the less. "where did you get this then! a football fan finally, i'll make sure you start to get invited to the family functions again." beth grinned tugging at laura's jersey on your person as you flipped her off and smacked away her hands.
"i'll pretend it says mead on the back then, shall i?"
~
"come on tiny tank lift with your legs! you've got two good knees now, no excuses." you teased the blonde who shot you a glare, dropping down the boxes in her arms with the rest of the pile and collapsing onto your sofa.
"is that everything now?" the girl groaned, hand covering her face tiredly as her body shone with a slight sheen of sweat and you closed your front door, gently placing down the box of kitchenware on the dining table.
"everything for today!" you announced, rounding the sofa and collapsing on top of laura who grunted. "stop pouting! you're my girlfriend lau its part of the job to help me move." you teased, shuffling back to push yourself up on your arms.
"if i knew that i would not have asked you." laura sighed, squealing as you pinched her sides for the comment. "would you rather we go back to sneaking about with my roommates around all the time?" you quirked an eyebrow.
"oh god no, they are more nosy than beth." laura groaned, hands sneaking up the back of your top and pulling you to lay back against her.
"don't you mean cupid!" you rolled your eyes, both of you constantly subjected to your cousins endless boasting that without her you'd never have gotten together.
which might have been partially true but you weren't going to give her the satisfaction of agreeing with it.
now finally settled back into london you'd secured a new job and an apartment all of your own. you and laura had only been seeing one another officially for about eight weeks so you'd both agreed it was too soon to move in together.
"you know even though you're my girlfriend maybe i should pay you for all your hard labour today baby." you sighed, lazily kissing her jaw as she perked up a little. "i think that is what is fair schatz." laura agreed with an eager nod and a smile.
"for building the sofa." you softly kissed one side of her neck as she squeezed your hips. "for helping me carry the fridge." you moved your lips to show the other side of her neck a little attention.
"for walking up and down all those stairs." you sighed, kissing the corner of her mouth. "for carrying all those heavy heavy boxes." you drawled sarcastically with a pout, kissing the other corner of her mouth, purposefully missing where she really wanted you.
"and for being the best girlfriend ever." laura smirked, tapping her lips expectantly as you raised an eyebrow. with a playful roll of your eyes you leant in but stopped, lips ghosting hers with a smile.
"the best girlfriend ever deserves dinner cooked for her." you whispered, pecking her lips quickly and trying to stand but before you could even push yourself up laura had easily flipped your positions now hovering over you.
"lau!" you laughed as she interlaced her fingers with yours and pressed them into the sofa, hazel eyes ablaze with adoration as she stared down at you, lips curled into a smile before she pressed them eagerly against yours.
you melted into the kiss with a small sigh of pleasure, hands cupping the back of her neck as she let you up, hers tangled in your hair.
the defender shifted a little on top of you before deepening the kiss, her tongue flicking against the roof of your mouth before she pulled away, teeth tugging at your bottom lip teasingly.
"i think as the best girlfriend, furniture builder, footballer and mover ever i should get to choose my own reward liebling."
