Ich: Nein, ich steigere mich nicht in die Wilden Kerle rein, weil diese Filme literally keinen anderen Sinn haben außer, dass Kinder Fußball mögen.

Auch ich: der gesamte erste Teil ist eine riesige Allegorie für Leons internalized homophobia und seine ungeklärten Gefühle gegenüber Fabi.

20th Anniversary of one of my favourite Childhood Movies

I'm from Germany and grew up with "Die Wilden Kerle", not just because of the movies and the TV show and all, but also because my brother had all the books and claimed that he was the reason my name is Vanessa, (same as the only girl on the team) because he was such a DWK Fan. Tactically the Movie came out on October 2th 2003, but rather a month late that never doing a post. Anyways, downstairs are a few informations about the cast and the production in German, ofc. P.S.: Maybe I'm going to add a few GIFs later on to visualise the movie for those who don't know it and maybe for those who didn't grew up in Germany and who came across this post by chance and are interested in it.

The boys with two homes

With their adoptive mother

And with their birth parents, Leon and Vanessa  

This is not always easy

Especially not in the beginning

When they had only just found out Vanessa and Leon gave them away to one of Vanessa’s cousins when they were very young

Especially Leon was very sour about that

Which is, of course entirely understandable

Vanessa and Leon do tend to be very strict parents

Which is not what Leo and Elias are used to

But Leon and Vanessa want their boys to be strong and firm, so they try to teach them that

And of course Elias and Leo prefer to just be Wild

Tho Leon and Vanessa by now learned there is a time and place for that

They expect direct and clear communication from their sons, at all times

Elias proves much better at it than Leo, who is much more impulsive than the younger brother

Within those premises the two brothers have a lot of freedom, but they have to obey the set rules

And keep their promises

On which especially Vanessa is very strict

This Elias and Leo respect a lot, because this is also a value of their own

They are given a much more free hand by their adoptive mother

Which especially the head strong Leo prefers

This does not always please Leon or Vanessa

And they have to work hard to find a middle ground

Why does the elder bro is named marlon wessel but the younger bro is named leon wessel masannek? and the dad is joachim masannek too?

Well their parents married after Marlon was born and usually if the parents aren’t married, the kid gets the mothers surname.

From 1991-1993 parents were able to give their children a double surname, so thats why Marlon has his mothers surname and Leon has both of his parents’ surnames.

So we all know that after they lost against the DFB in the second movie, Leon left Die Wilden Kerle. But what I still wonder about is, what happened between him and Marlon after that? I mean, they were brothers and had a really close relationship with each other, even shared a room. Die Wilden Kerle was a big dream and goal that Marlon and Leon shared, and then, all of a sudden, he left them. He left him. So what happened? Did Marlon just decide to go away with Markus and stay at the racetrack all day to avoid his brother all he could? Did Leon rehearse with his band all day to not be at home with Marlon out of guilt? Or did they talked everything clear and were as close als always?
