the way Leon getting more screen time in the show and overall being a more commanding presence likely mirrors the Wessel family dynamic .... Marlon's role in the show very frequently simply is Emotional Support Guy, and it is fascinating what that communicates about his character as a whole. Iirc he is the only character we never see struggle with his own shit, most if not all of his episodes resolve around the team as a whole. I would have loved a more intimate look into Marlon's head.
Frl, all of the Marlon episodes do focus more on his relationships with other people and how he supports them rather than him as a person. Would’ve been cool to get an episode where he had to deal with a personal struggle instead, but I guess that’s what fanworks are for

20th Anniversary of one of my favourite Childhood Movies
I'm from Germany and grew up with "Die Wilden Kerle", not just because of the movies and the TV show and all, but also because my brother had all the books and claimed that he was the reason my name is Vanessa, (same as the only girl on the team) because he was such a DWK Fan. Tactically the Movie came out on October 2th 2003, but rather a month late that never doing a post. Anyways, downstairs are a few informations about the cast and the production in German, ofc. P.S.: Maybe I'm going to add a few GIFs later on to visualise the movie for those who don't know it and maybe for those who didn't grew up in Germany and who came across this post by chance and are interested in it.

So we all know that after they lost against the DFB in the second movie, Leon left Die Wilden Kerle. But what I still wonder about is, what happened between him and Marlon after that? I mean, they were brothers and had a really close relationship with each other, even shared a room. Die Wilden Kerle was a big dream and goal that Marlon and Leon shared, and then, all of a sudden, he left them. He left him. So what happened? Did Marlon just decide to go away with Markus and stay at the racetrack all day to avoid his brother all he could? Did Leon rehearse with his band all day to not be at home with Marlon out of guilt? Or did they talked everything clear and were as close als always?

I'm bored so I'll be mumbling about Wessel's financial state.
Even though it was never mentioned directly, we can assume that Mr. Wessel probably doesn't have that much money. Why? Well, first of all, look at the flat they live in. Of course it's not an explicit poverty, but the walls look pretty scraped, moreover, it all looks pretty old and undone. It seems like they live in the apartment (I'm saying apartment but honestly I don't know what the fuck is this building, but I'm sure their family couldn't afford it), but not even in the "main" part of it. At least Leon and Marlon live in some kind of wooden additional room or something. Also, according to the map, they are the ones who live in the outskirts of the town. Plus those mfs eat butterbrot with water at breakfast and cheap-looking soup at dinner.
We also know that their father works at the café since he asked his sons to help him. He might even own it. So there comes a theory: what if Mr. Wessel tried to run a shop a while ago, maybe even succeeded at the time, but eventually this little business stopped bringing that much money and now he's in the financial pit. Might as well be the reason of Leon and Marlon's parents divorce, but I guess I'm digging too deep.
Just putting it out there for a discussion. Or for your inspiration for fanfics. Or as a note for myself for the future works.

Ellis Marsalis, Jr.
Ellis Louis Marsalis Jr. (November 14, 1934 – April 1, 2020) was an American jazz pianist and educator. Active since the late 1940s, Marsalis came to greater attention in the 1980s and 1990s as the patriarch of a musical family, with sons Branford and Wynton rising to international acclaim.
Life and career
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Marsalis was the son of Florence (née Robertson) and Ellis Marsalis Sr., a businessman and social activist. Marsalis and his wife Delores Ferdinand had six sons: Branford (born in 1960), Wynton (born in 1961), Ellis III (born in 1964), Delfeayo, Mboya (born in 1971), and Jason (born in 1977). Branford, Wynton, Delfeayo, and Jason also became jazz musicians. Ellis III is a poet, photographer, and network engineer.
Marsalis played saxophone during high school but switched to piano while studying classical music at Dillard University, graduating in 1955. He later attended graduate school at Loyola University New Orleans. In the 1950s and 1960s he worked with Ed Blackwell, Cannonball Adderley, Nat Adderley, and Al Hirt. During the 1970s, he taught at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. His students have included Terence Blanchard, Harry Connick Jr., Donald Harrison, Kent Jordan, Marlon Jordan, and Nicholas Payton.
Though he recorded almost twenty of his own albums and was featured on many discs with such musicians as David "Fathead" Newman, Eddie Harris, Marcus Roberts, and Courtney Pine, he shunned the spotlight to focus on teaching. Marsalis's didactic approach, combined with an interest in philosophy, encouraged his students to make discoveries in music on their own, through experiment and very careful listening.
As a leading educator at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, the University of New Orleans, and Xavier University of Louisiana, Ellis influenced the careers of countless musicians, as well as his four musician sons: Wynton, Branford, Delfeayo and Jason. Marsalis retired from UNO in 2001. In May 2007, Marsalis received an honorary doctorate from Tulane University for his contributions to jazz and musical education.
Marsalis was inducted into The Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2018.
The Ellis Marsalis Center for Music at Musicians' Village in New Orleans is named in his honor. In 2010, The Marsalis Family released a live album titled Music Redeems which was recorded at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC as part of the Duke Ellington Jazz Festival. All proceeds from the sale of the album go directly to the Ellis Marsalis Center for Music.
Marsalis and his sons were group recipients of the 2011 NEA Jazz Masters Award.
Marsalis was a Brother of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., initiated in 1953 at Epsilon Alpha Chapter, Dillard University.
Marsalis was a Brother of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia fraternity, initiated into Delta Epsilon Chapter (University of Louisiana-Lafayette) in 1965. In 2015, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia announced that Marsalis has been named Sinfonia's 24th Man of Music, the highest honor given by the fraternity to a member, for advancing the cause of music in America through performance, composition or any other musical activity.
On April 1, 2020, Marsalis died at the age of 85 from pneumonia brought by COVID-19.

I have never caught onto Blossom/Maxi, but maybe that stems from how much I continue to still be in love with MARLON DAVID WESSEL
I see haha maybe that’s the same reason why Markus/Düse aren’t my ultimate faves even though I still like them a lot (aka I love Leon Wessel Masannek too much 😂)
