Alexandrea Cole Morales: 1940s Lookbook

A later 1940s lookbook for Alexandrea Cole Morales in her mid-adulthood years. By the end of the decade, Alexandrea has achieved some success as a Hollywood actress. Widowed during World War II, she has found a second chance at love and began dating her fellow actor, Vito Ferraro. She is the parent of two children, teenage Salvador and preteen Gloria. In contrast to the wartime years, Alexandrea now wears fuller skirts and longer dresses, especially for formal events. (I haven't been able to feature all of Alexandrea's many looks in-game yet but hopefully will showcase them more as the decade nears a close!)

Que signifie – pose en lés inversés – ?

Votre nouveau papier peint a une étiquette sur laquelle figurent des informations et sur laquelle on trouve différents symboles qui font référence aux caractéristiques de votre papier peint. Parmi ceux-ci, il y en a un avec deux flèches côte à côte, une qui pointe vers le haut, et l’autre vers le bas. Ce symbole signifie : pose en lés inversés. Ce blogue expliquera pourquoi des lés de papier peint pourraient être posés ainsi et la manière dont vous devriez procéder pour réussir cette méthode.

Les raisons de la pose en lés inversés

Les papiers peints unis sans raccord ou texturés, les papiers peints naturels et les papiers peints textiles sont parfois posés avec la méthode de la pose en lés inversés si leurs bords présentent des petites variations de couleur ou de structures, par exemple à cause du procédé d’impression. À première vue, et même pendant que l’on coupe les lés de papier peint, ces différences ne seront peut-être pas immédiatement évidentes. Mais une fois le papier peint posé au mur, ces « imperfections » (par exemple des ombres) pourraient se voir sur les bords et les joints, nuisant à l’aspect général. Par conséquent, les rouleaux de papier peint qui pourraient faire partie de cette catégorie portent le symbole de la « pose en lés inversés ». Un lé sur deux est posé dans le sens inverse du premier — en d’autres mots, il a « la tête en bas », c’est-à-dire qu’il est renversé.

Si votre nouveau papier peint design porte le symbole avec les flèches inversées, il faudrait le poser comme suit. Afin de ne pas perdre votre rythme quand vous travaillez, nous vous recommandons de couper un lé puis de le poser immédiatement, suivi par celui inversé, etc.

Les papiers peints traditionnels nécessitent un temps d’imbibition spécifique (pour absorber la colle à papier peint) avant que l’on puisse les poser au mur, alors que ceux de type intissé peuvent être posés directement, car la colle est appliquée au mur lui-même. Pour éviter d’être pressé par le temps, appliquez la colle seulement sur la partie qui sera recouverte par un lé. Coupez le premier lé selon la hauteur de la pièce, plus 5 cm (en haut et en bas). Si c’est un papier peint intissé, vous pouvez le poser directement sur le mur sur lequel on a appliqué la colle. Pour les types de papier peint traditionnels, vous devriez écrire le mot « haut » au crayon de papier au dos du papier peint. Ainsi, vous éviterez de poser le lé dans le mauvais sens quand vous le déplierez.

Maintenant, coupez le deuxième lé. Tournez ce lé de 180 degrés afin que le bord inférieur soit en haut de votre table à tréteaux. Pour les papiers peints intissés, prenez le lé dans cette position et posez-le à côté du premier. Pour les modèles traditionnels, vous devrez d’abord appliquer la colle ; à nouveau, marquez « haut » au crayon de papier au dos du lé pour éviter toute confusion plus tard.

Maintenant, coupez le troisième lé et posez-le dans la même direction que le premier.

Le quatrième est de nouveau posé dans la direction opposée.

Continuez en utilisant cette méthode qui alterne les directions.

Évidemment, il faut aussi faire de même pour les plafonds. Au lieu de mesurer la hauteur du mur, vous devez mesurer la largeur du plafond (verticalement ou horizontalement selon la direction du motif et votre méthode préférée pour poser du papier peint) avant de commencer à couper les lés.

Early 1940s (circa 1941) lookbook for Héctor David Morales, an optimistic young man who has moved from small-town California to Los Angeles. Growing up, Héctor was raised by his aunt and uncle. Héctor has friends aspiring to make it big in the movie industry, and he married one of them, Alexandrea Cole after she got pregnant, and is helping to raise her son, Salvador. Currently, he is employed as a dishwasher and waiter at Giordano’s restaurant, though he is unsure where his career will take him. Héctor’s traits are Cheerful, Active, and Outgoing.

Consuelo Huntington Morales: 1930s Lookbook

The first lookbook of the decade was Consuelo in her early 20s, so here she is in her early 40s toward the end of the decade, around 1938. Some of her outfits are repeats from the beginning of the 1930s, but she has some new outfits that reflect her husband’s higher status and some menswear influences to match Consuelo’s androgynous style. Around the house or doing work in the yard, Consuelo finds it much more comfortable to wear trousers. She enjoys gardening, fishing, collecting natural items, and spending time with her family. Consuelo’s traits are Loves the Outdoors, Self-Assured, and Noncommittal.

Gloria Morales: 1940s Lookbook

1944-ish lookbook for Gloria Ofelia Morales as a toddler. Gloria's mother enjoys dressing her in soft, feminine clothes, though with the war still ongoing, some of Gloria's clothes are more 1930s-style, with the feedcloth-style patterns of the Depression appearing in Gloria's outfits (her overalls are also a hand-me-down from her brother). Gloria's father, Héctor Morales, died in World War II, and she is being raised with her older (half-)brother Salvador with their mother, Alexandrea. She has the Charmer trait.
