Up until the 1300s clothing was relatively functional and basic, but during this century we saw the emergence of formally recognised "fashion". Previously draped garments and straight seams were replaced by curved seams and more fitted silhouettes thanks to the beginnings of tailoring, as well as the introduction of lacing and buttons.

Next in 1930s fashion is Zelda Darlington, who now goes by her wedded name Duplanchier. Although her looks here much more subdued than they were in the 1920s, they fit not only her current life but also her personality. We even see a retroactive return to many of muted tones she wore in her younger years. While these colors are more subdued than the bright ones she wore in New Orleans, they are also far from the somber palette of Josephine’s looks. Rather, they are calming and earthy, much in the same way Zelda views her life now.
Many of her looks are also suitable for work, although there are still hints of a more fanciful style of dress that she enjoyed in the last decade. This includes her wedding look, and even the silk party dress that she has now; however the latter is very much in line with the silhouette of this decade, representing Zelda embrace not only of their new life, but also the hyper-feminine, almost romantic looks that are now in fashion and well aligned with her personal style.
However, much of the growing rigidity of style in the 1930s as compared to the 1920s is absent in her looks, in part due to her lifestyle but also her personal fashion. We can see this perhaps most clearly in her hair, which is cut to a modern length but never really worn in the heavily styled coiffures and curls of the period. And of course her outfits are rounded out by her personal choice of pearls, now always seen in her wedding ring, and her sister Rosella’s floral pressed jewelry.
All CC linked under the cut.

200 Followers Gift: 19th-century Men's Lookbook
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally, here it is. A gift to you all for getting my follower count up to a whole 200. I know it's not a huge milestone, but I'm excited about it, and I'm glad so many other people are interested in the things I make. As of right now I have 212 followers, and there were only about 190 students at my elementary school. That's weird. That's a lot of people.
This is a more informal lookbook than my usual ones. I haven't really gone all in on the photo editing. It's more of a timeline of fashion than a true lookbook. Note that it's a mix of casual wear (1810, 1820, 1830, 1850), regular daywear (1800, 1860, 1870, 1880, 1890) and evening wear (1840).
1800s: hair / glasses (TSR) / suit / boots (Base Game)
1810s: hair / facial hair (Base Game) / vest / breeches / boots
1820s: hair / facial hair / vest / pants (Discover University) / boots
1830s: hair / facial hair (Base Game) / outfit / boots (Base Game)
1840s: hair / facial hair (Base Game) / suit / shoes
1850s: hair / facial hair / outfit / shoes (Base Game)
1860s: hat / hair / facial hair / suit / gloves (Base Game)
1870s: hat / hair / facial hair (Cottage Living) / jacket / pants (Sack Pants) / gloves (Base Game) / boots
1880s: hat / hair / facial hair (Horse Ranch) / suit / boots
1890s: hat / hair / facial hair (Cats & Dogs) / suit (Professor Plum) / shoes (Get Together)

The 1910's are my favorite decade and I would be remiss to let them pass by without dressing my heir up even if she's still a teenager!
Olivia comes from a lower middle class family - there aren't going to be any rich, vibrant, expensive colors to her wardrobe, but her interest in sewing means that she at least stays on top of the latest silhouettes and trends. She is very proud to be the most talented seamstress in her family, and hopes very much to work with better and more beautiful materials and colors one day.
Her daily outfits are always supplemented with knitwear from her mother or aunt - around the 1900's and 1910's knitwear began to gain mainstream popularity anyways - and she always wears her same trusty hat. The only parties in her neck of rural Brindleton are when the Xue's (family friends of the Rheist-Calaises) throw their annual summer garden parties, so her party outfit is summery and light and meant for socializing in a familiar, informal setting. Her hair is almost never formally, appropriately done up - she lives in the country, by the windy sea, and is her free-spirited mother's daughter.
CC links under the cut! If I didn't link it, it's base game.
Daily - hat / hair / skirt / shoes
Daily (warm) - hat / hair / skirt
Funeral - hair / dress / shoes
Sleepwear - nightgown / hair
Underwear - underwear & socks / hair
Party - hat / hair / dress / shoes
Swimming - hair / outfit
Summer - hat / hair / dress / shoes
Winter - hat / hair / dress / cardigan
Winter Alt - hat / hair / dress / shoes

Happy New Year! In celebration, I have created this lookbook for you all! A young lady upon entering her first social season, here we have Charlotte Milbourne. Details & links below the cut!
Charlotte Milbourne is nineteen years of age when she is out in society in 1811. Otherwise known as the Regency Era, in this period of time women’s dresses were high-waisted due to the French’s influence in fashion and the Neoclassical popularity that swept through Europe. Women’s dresses were more modest during the daytime, with slim and sleek silhouettes. Charlotte is the only daughter of a Baron, and though her family isn’t the highest in nobility, she still would wear beautifully made dresses that only the rich could afford.
Undress 1 - hair / necklace / dress / shoes
Undress 2 - hair / dress / stockings / shoes
Full Dress - earrings (TSR warning) / gloves / dress / shoes
Sleepwear - hair / dress (TSR warning)

Doyle Legacy 1890s - 1900s LOOKBOOK
Tumblr media
Helena Doyle Harrington 1890s - 1900s
Babies first Lookbook!😀
Helena's upbringing was marked by poverty, stemming from the loss of her mother. This hardship led her to turn to prostitution for survival. However, her future husband Eddy, rescued her from a dangerous encounter with a violent client, allowing her to leave that life behind.
Together, they transformed an abandoned hunting shed into a functioning farm for their family.
Known affectionately as "Dove," Which is a pet name given to her since she worked as a painted lady. The color red became symbol for Helena since she adopted it as her signature, using the color to accentuate her vibrant hair and attract clientele during her time in the sex work industry.
Even after transitioning from a sex worker to a devoted wife I kept that color in mind each time she got an updated wardrobe.
The Harringtons lived poorly which is also why some of Helena's outfits seem out of date for time, she utilized her knowledge of previous decades sewing patterns to make clothes for herself.
I used up every outfit slot in CAS and I'd rather not overwhelm myself so instead I chose my favorites to share!

Decades Simblr Live
I just launched a simblr (@ratchet-decades-challenge) entirely for decades challenge stuff so it can have its own place. Some of it is still in progress (and if anyone can tell me how to get rid of the submit a post option please help).
Since I'm starting after a long time of playing the family tree has some spoilers and is also incomplete because I have a lot to add to it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In honor of the launch, here are some adorable Victorian(ish) Ratchet simself pics (I realize some of the outfits aren't historically accurate, shhh). Planning on posting simself pics to correspond with each decade as the story moves into them. For now I'm thinking of putting them here since it feels more like lookbook territory.

The Baroque period saw a softening of women's fashion, with the silhouette becoming fuller and higher waisted. Leg-o-mutton and three quarter sleeves added a billowy upper half to dresses. Shimmering soft satins and tonnes of delicate lace trimmings were all the rage. Necklines continued to broaden, eventually even falling off the shoulders in some styles.

Kicking off a new decade in fashion is Josephine Duplanchier, who’s 1920s looks once epitomized the boldness of that era. Now she’s seen in the early years of the 1930s, out of her element stylistically and in life. For this reason, her color palette has gone from vibrant tones of red, teal, and yellow to a blend of purples and olives. While many of these colors are found in her earlier looks, they are now in a variety of somber tones to match her mood and that of this new decade.
However, we can still see some pops of bold color in this new version of Josephine, like her red heels or her mother’s ruby red ring which she wears when given the rare opportunity. Her silhouettes are also torn between decades, which would be sensible as she’s still wearing some of her older clothes; but her going out dress, which makes her feel the most like herself, is well out of style by this period. For a woman who prides herself on new bold trends, this represents an attachment to the past more than an adjustment for the period she’s living in.
Of course she has more or less been forced to adopt some of the stylistic accompaniments of her new life, like her work apron and kerchief. However even there, we can see elements of Josephine’s personality such as the pair of high waisted pants that she has stolen from her partner Giorgio and now prefers to wear during the day.
All CC linked below the cut.

Alexandrea Cole Morales: 1940s Lookbook
A later 1940s lookbook for Alexandrea Cole Morales in her mid-adulthood years. By the end of the decade, Alexandrea has achieved some success as a Hollywood actress. Widowed during World War II, she has found a second chance at love and began dating her fellow actor, Vito Ferraro. She is the parent of two children, teenage Salvador and preteen Gloria. In contrast to the wartime years, Alexandrea now wears fuller skirts and longer dresses, especially for formal events. (I haven't been able to feature all of Alexandrea's many looks in-game yet but hopefully will showcase them more as the decade nears a close!)

The Crumplebottoms | An Unequivocal Bond
Inseparable since childhood, Dowager Countess Agnes Crumplebottom and Lady Agatha Crumplebottom have truly never known a day apart. Together, they have had many a grand adventure over the last few decades. From evading unscrupulous suitors to dancing the night away in opulent ballrooms, they have seen each other through life's most joyous and saddest moments. Agnes inherited a sizable estate in the quaint village of Henford-on-Bagley. With Agatha by her side, Agnes established a prestigious finishing school, Miss Cordelia's Academy for Young Ladies. Families send their daughters from far and wide to become accomplished ladies under the tutelage of the Crumplebottoms.
So where have I been...somehow got sucked into historical gameplay (specifically regency era) and having so much fun building out my own historical save file. I'm trying to commitment to SimBridgerton Challenge and so far so good...
Truthfully I've been very much inspired by @janesimsten incredible mods as well as amazing tumblrs like @regencysims4, @moon-simmers,@inlovewithregencyera, @peebsplays and @notsooldmadcatlady to name a few!
I've tried to incorporate some of my favorite townies and loved building out the Crumplebottoms story. I'll be posting more soon!

This Vietwardian socialite, armed with a letter opener that is sharper than strictly necessary, is prepared to stab the next person who tries her patience. Her gown is inspired by a classic áo dài, but with an Edwardian train and cold-shoulder lace sleeves. The black bobbinet overlay retains the raglan line of an áo dài, combined with a sweetheart neckline. The body panels are linen damask draped over a structured under-bodice, embroidered and beaded with glass jet and cut steel. Rather than traditional trousers, the gown is worn over a frilly black cotton petticoat. The gold bib necklace is inspired by traditional Vietnamese kiềng, particularly the beautiful styles worn by the Hmong, and Art Nouveau enameled jewelry. Her khăn đóng is cloth of gold. She is framed and haloed by pale yellow and pink chrysanthemums.
I finally finished this piece!
