Koh’a to Misto – 4. “I know I shouldn’t, but I can’t stopthinking about you.”

Koh’a had seen him in Gridania several times now. Vibrantblue hair tied back in intricate and cool braids, bright eyes, and an easysmile. Koh’a admired the way he walked through town with such confidence. Healways looked happy and at ease. He looked important and clever. There wassomething very attractive about his face that Koh’a couldn’t quite put hisfinger on. But most of all he just looked like a really cool person to hang outwith. And Koh’a didn’t have any friends in town yet. He imagined himself beingfriends with the blue haired miqo’te.

Koh’a’s sister had taught him that if he wanted things hehad to be straight forward. He couldn’t skulk about and expect people to readhis mind. He had to say it. So Koh’a made a promise to himself. The next timehe noticed the blue haired miqo’te in Gridania he would approach him and sayhi. He’d tell him he was new in town and ask something normal like where is agood place to eat and the blue haired guy would be kind and suggest they eattogether which would give Koh’a a chance to show that he could be cool too.

That day came. It was overcast but still Koh’a spotted thevibrant blue hair and ears heading his way through the market the moment theother miqo’te arrived. They were both alone. This would be the best chance. Koh’asuddenly felt nervous. He clenched and flexed his fingers. No, he was going todo it. He’d promised himself. He waited for the blue haired miqo’te to drawcloser then stepped out in front of him and before he could change his mind, spurtedout, ‘I know I shouldn’t but I can’t stop thinking about you.’

He immediately regretted it.

Oh twelve, he was acting like a creep! If the nearest treecould just bare its roots, snatch him up, and burry him deep beneath, thatwould be ideal. What the hell kind of confession was that?! Oh twelve. Hisface turned ashen and his hands froze where they were in front of his chest.  

The blue-haired Miqo’te tilted his head, ears twitching, mouth open. "Eh?"

A mixture of surprise, amusement, and plain bewildermentfaced Koh’a. Koh’a noticed the blue-haired Miqo’te’s gaze shift from Koh’a’sface to his hands. Confusion. The blue miqo’te didn’t understand sign language!Oh thank the twelve!

Koh’a lowered his hands. “Sorry!” He spoke. Heat was risingwithin him. He could feel his entire body flush. “Sorry.” He repeated andturned to run away.

I've been doing 'Toughening Up' and 'Coming into it's Own' at the same time as I go and leveling up a bunch of classes at the same time.

Could they survive an apocalypse?

At first I was leaning towards no. Misto is not the toughest nor the hardiest person by any means.

However.

Misto has routinely survived against all odds before, be it as an orphaned child on the streets or the lone survivor of a sahagin attack and subsequent shipwreck.

Odds are Misto would, somehow, survive and hate every minute of it, as most of the things he loves would be in short supply in an apocalypse.
