When you do not know a thing about the issue at stake...
...perhaps it's better to remain silent.
Some of you know, others don't - and that's fine - but my main field of expertise is labor law.
I just read this in anger and disbelief:
Tumblr media
Look, lady. I don't care who the hell you are, what you do for a living or why you felt entitled to answer those insistent questions on your side of the fandom. I suppose you are North American and have no idea of how things work on this side of the pond. It is fine: I might know what a Congress filibuster is, for example, but I'd be severely unable to judge the finer points of competence sharing between Fed and state level.
The difference between you and me?
I keep my mouth shut and/or do my own research before opening it in public.
Have you no shame to write things like: 'It was discovered clothing factories in Bulgaria and Portugal made it and how workers were exploited, mostly women, because these factories were in special economic zones in these countries exempt from EU employee rights and regulations.'
HOW DARE YOU? What strange form of illiterate entitlement possessed you to utter such things with confidence, comfortably hidden behind a passive voice ('it was discovered')?
Portugal joined the EU in 1986. Bulgaria (and my country) joined the EU in 2007. I have given 5 relentless years of my life to make this collective political project a reality, along with hundreds of other people my age who chose to come back home from the West and put their skills to good use for their country. In doing so, I rejected more than 10 excellent corporate job offers in France and China. To see you come along and write such enormities is like having you spit in my face.
Article 4 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (aka The Treaty of Rome) is formal and clear, as far as competence sharing between the EU and its Member States goes (the UK was still, back then, a full member of the EU - it quit on February 1st 2020):
Tumblr media
That means that ALL the EU regulations are being integrated into the national legislation of the Member States. This is not a copy/paste process, however. And because it is a shared competence area, the Member States have a larger margin of appreciation into making the EU rules a part of their own. While exceptions or delays in this process can be and are negotiated, the core principles are NEVER touched.
Read it one hundred times, madam, maybe you'll learn something today:
THERE ARE NO SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONES IN THE EUROPEAN UNION. THE WHOLE FUCKING EUROPEAN UNION IS A SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE, THIS IS WHY IT IS CALLED THE SINGLE MARKET.
What the fuck do you think we are, Guangzhou? We'd wish, seeing the growth statistics!
Now, for the textile industry sector and particularly with regard to the Bulgarian market, a case very similar to my own country. Starting around 1965, many big European textile players realized the competitive advantage of using the lower paid, readily available Eastern European workforce. In order to be able to do business with all those dour Communist regimes, the solution was simple and easy to find: toll manufacturing.
It worked (and still does!) like this:
The foreign partner brings its own designs, textiles and know-how into the mix - or more simply put, it outsources all these activities. The locals transform it into the finished product, using their own workforce. The result is then re-exported to the foreign partner, who labels it and sells it. In doing so, he has the legal obligation to include provenance on the label ('made in Romania', 'made in Indonesia', 'made in Bulgaria' - you name it).
The reason you might find less and less of those 'made in ' labels nowadays at Primark and more and more at Barbour, Moncler and the such is the constant raise of the workers' wages in Eastern Europe since 1990 (things happened there, in 1989, maybe you remember?). We are not competitive anymore for midrange prêt-à-porter - China (Shein, anyone?), Cambodia and Mexico do come to mind as better suppliers. To speak about 'exploited female labourers in rickety old factories' is an insult and a lie. They weren't exploited back in the Eighties, as they are not now (workers in those factories were and still are easily paid about 50% more than all the rest) and the factories being modernized and constantly updated was always a mandatory clause in any contract of the sort. Normal people in our countries rarely or ever saw those clothes. You had to either be lucky enough for a semi-confidential store release or bribe someone working there and willing to take the risk, in order to be able to buy the rejected models on the local market.
If I understood correctly, you place this critical episode at the launch of the limited SRH & Barbour collection, for the fall of 2018. How convenient for you, who (I am told by trusted people) were one of the most vocal critics of S during Hawaii 2.0!
And as far as Barbour goes, it never pretended to manufacture everything in the UK only:
Tumblr media
This information is absolutely true. You can read the whole statement, signed in October 2017 by one of their Directors, Ian Sime, here: https://www.barbour.com/us/media/wysiwyg/PDF/Ethical_Statement_October_2017.pdf
And a snapshot for you:
Tumblr media
Oh, and: SEDEX is a behemoth in its world, with more than 75.000 companies joining as a member (https://www.sedex.com/become-a-member/meet-our-customers/). Big corporations like TESCO, Dupont, Nestle, Sainsbury's or Unilever included.
I am not Bulgarian, but I know all of this way better than you'll probably ever do. The same type of contracts were common all over Eastern Europe: Romania, Poland, the GDR (that's East Berlin and co, for you) and even the Soviet Union. I am also sure your Portuguese readers will be thrilled to see themselves qualified by a patronizing North American as labor exploiters living in a third-world country with rickety factories.
You people have no shame and never did. But you just proved with trooping colors you also have no culture and no integrity. More reasons to not regret my unapologetic fandom choice.
I expect an angry and very, very vulgar answer to this, even if I chose to not include your name/handle. The stench of your irrelevance crossed an ocean.

It seems that there are so many 🍬 that would require planning and preparation. Do you think they are just that good at improvising, or they really do plan these things (e.g. Bobo filming that extra video in red that day he was filming Monclear ads weeks/months ago just to post it today for the XFX 7th anniversary?)
Hi Anon!
Tumblr media
Fake, fan fiction, CPN.
Anon is talking about this video clip, which is 7 seconds long, where DD is wearing a Moncler Disney Roger Rabbit hoodie and red clothing that was posted at 7:07, on the 7th anniversary of XFX (GG's solo fandom).
Tumblr media
Regardless of whether it was pre-planned or not, I personally believe it was intended as a reference to the anniversary. After all, he's the captain of the GG fan club! 😅
I think it's almost impossible that the outfit was pre-planned to be an intentional reference to GG, though. That look was something he wore for a photo shoot in connection with Moncler's Disney Roger Rabbit partnership and would have been styled by the brand's people, and of course would have included rabbit clothing given the focus of the campaign.
I think that this clip was probably just one of many he records and keeps on hand. DD is known for filming a lot of these things at once and then releasing them in a trickle as time goes by. It could be that when he was at the Moncler photo shoot he took the opportunity in his downtime to film some video clips.
What I think is possible is that when he saw that he'd be wearing this rabbit stuff he consciously chose to film some clips to use when he wants to reference GG in a future post. It might have felt like a golden opportunity to drop some candy at some point, when he saw them dressing him all up in red with a rabbit sweater.
DD has been known to make posts that reference GG in some way. He used to do it a lot more back in 2020, but hasn't been doing it much lately (probably due to the tense climate in the biz right now).
Also, the way in which this post lines up so well with GG's hot pot post, I doubt that was an accident. I think it's likely they pre-planned that part of it. Perhaps they planned that the next personal post GG made would use the 👍🏽 and DD's would use the ✌🏻.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's one thing I think almost every BXG noticed immediately and went 👀 over.
For those who aren't familiar, GG and DD are frequently associated with those two emoji because of their use of those gestures during promo for The Untamed. The much-loved Sina Day photo features those gestures.
Tumblr media
There was a fake rumor a while back that referenced GG and DD using those same light toned ✌🏻 and darker toned 👍🏽, and BXG were already pretty excited to see GG use that same toned 👍🏽 for his hot pot post. Seeing DD use the ✌🏻 just a few weeks later made a lot of turtles happy!
Of course we'll probably never know for sure, but those are my thoughts on it.
Edit: More on this here.

What's the vibe? #13
Tumblr media
Tube strike is on the 15th March.
Tate Britain is doing a rehang and focusing on female artists.
Pokemon Sleep is going to be released at the end of the year. It's basically a fun sleep tracker and the goal of the game is to encourage sleep and encounter new Pokemon that have the same sleep style as you.
So here we have an emphasis on rest, in this and also in the Rick Owens installation at Moncler last week.

Maker of the week:
Bailey Hikawa - ergonomic dynamic 3D printed phone cases.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why? According to the brand: "We use our phones so much it has become unconscious. My phone case designs transform the phone into an object with a body and texture. When we interact with an object that has a body, we can see it as separate from ourselves, and maybe even transform our relationship to the phone."
Things I saw this week:
Still House Plants at Kings Place on Thurs: really cool band, very experimental rock and loose music, anything was going at that point.
Broker (film) - probably would say it's a 3.5/5 film, the cinema was packed which is quite interesting. People have the hunger for foreign films or just known good films. Was beautiful but something was missing - some of it was beauty with no substance.
Dustin - dir Naila Guiget (2020) - modern French short about raving, sexuality and change.

Streetwear brands in collaboration with high luxury designer brands.
Written by Adriana Gallardo
Hello, Adriana here!
As previously mentioned, most of our blog and about 'Lucky Fortune' is solely based on indie and urban brands known for an inclusive target market.
This week we’ll be going through some of our favorite fashion archives of collaborations with brands we’ve been fortunate enough to have inspired all of us.
In 2023, as social media consumers, we start to pay close attention and notice what the future holds for these fashion brands. It's by scrolling through our Social Media feeds and taking notes on what is trending. We start to notice high fashion brands collaborating with brands with streetwear brands. It's interesting, because these urban brands may have less exposure and sold at a low price point. We can understand what these collaborations may do for the consumer. It may convince them to invest themself into a limited edition item and be the first to have it. Let's talk about it.
Moncler Maya 70 by Palm Angels® FALL 2022
Tumblr media
Source: TikTok @kyonamy
Thought we've seen it all? When this collaboration dropped, it seemed to have light up the consumers world with new and behold features this down-filled jacket had to offer.
This collaboration became available to the public and website October 15, 2022 on moncler.com.
Francesco Ragazzi is the founder and designer of Italian streetwear brand Palm Angels. Ragazzi was working for Moncler in 2015, eventually becoming its creative director later in 2018.(BoF)
“We worked with an optic fiber that lightens up. For me, metaphorically, this meant to shed light on the future, literally putting the spotlight on it.” In order to illuminate Moncler’s future, Ragazzi worked with the brand’s technical expertise, as the technology used in the jacket. (HighSnobiety)

Gosha Rubchinskiy x FILA 2017
Here we have Kendall Jenner seen in Gosha Rubchinskiy x FILA graphic t-shirt in Paris fashion week.
Kendall is an example of someone that we define her style as 'urban streetwear'. She has the look of someone who didn't try hard to throw on a chic, but casual outfit and is ready to walk the streets confidently.

Supreme x Louis Vuitton FALL/WINTER 2017
Tumblr media
The whole world was shocked when the American clothing brand Supreme, known for skate-wear, teamed up with Louis Vuitton and made its way on the runway. Louis Vuitton x Supreme crossbody bag as seen on Hailey Bieber.

Tumblr media
Supreme x Burberry SS 2022
We may know now, this isn't Supremes last collab with high end luxury designer. We are seeing this become a trend for both iconic brands, every couple years with little marketing schemes behind it. What we do know is that, we are only able to get our hands on these drops by buying resell these days. As soon as it drops on Supremes website, it is sold out within minutes.

DIOR x STÜSSY FALL 2020
During the Pandemic we were still seeing fashion runway shows being celebrated into more for comfort, practicality, but for style as well.
Two creative brands and our personal favorite.

Tumblr media
VETEMENTS x Canada Goose FALL 2016
An unexpected collaboration that made into the runway was VETEMENTS x Canada Goose
It is awesome to see a European brand like VETEMENTS to have reworked the down-filled puffer jacket and make it couture with a brand made for only specifically for outerwear.

Coach x BAPE FALL 2021
We have Hip-Hop artist, Megan thee Stallion, taking glamour shots for the Coach x BAPE campaign.

Louis Vuitton x OFF-WHITE x NIKE SPRING 2018
In 2018, we started to watch Nike launch collaborations with big name brands, ever since Nike brought back the Jordan 1's back.

Maison Margiela x GENTLE MONSTER SPRING 2023
Believe it or not sunglasses will always be a part of luxury fashion as well as for everyday use. Why not mesh both styles into a pair of fabulous eyewear for all.
GENTLE MONSTER is a Korean eyewear brand founded by Hankook Kim in Seoul, Republic of Korea in 2011. This brand is able to execute and create high-quality eyewear at a reasonable cost. (Showstudio)
This year we have an upcoming collaboration with European designer brand, Maison Margiela and GENTLE MONSTER. This collaboration is giving us blue light protection for the eyes, as well as various frames and shapes to choose from for style.

Moschino x Palace 2020
What is more to come from high fashion brands?
We are totally seeing clothing become inclusive for men and women. We love to see urban clothing worn as unisex. Here we have a Instagram post of Jeremy Scott, creative designer of Moschino wearing his two-piece set collab with skate-wear brand PALACE. (Photo on the left)
We have the same outfit worn by Russian model Irina Shayk in New York City casually strutting outside. Worn with a white crop top and a statement orange handbag. (Photo on the right)
