On the Moroccan Coast - El Jadida and Oualidia
We continue south along the Moroccan coast. We visit El Jadida, Oualidia and spend a few relaxing days on the coast at Bhibeh.
After two nights in Asilah it was back on the road and we wanted to head south quickly. Casablanca and the Rabat we skipped and made only a short stopover for one night in Mohammediaas the local Camping Mimosa is only five minutes away from the motorway. It has lots of trees for shade and the showers were hot. Roosters, guinea fowl and cats visited us at our truck and the staff were friendly and helpful. More comfort ...

Day 16: The Character Tour - Some Significant Places in Gabriella’s trip to Swynlake
1. The Waters of Isla Delfin, Avalor: She spent a few days just lingering in the waters around home, hoping that maybe someone from her family had escaped from, too, so she wasn’t all alone. She spent a lot of time hanging out with the dolphins that live and hunt around the island, getting used to her tail and being underwater for way longer than the occasional swim. When no one came to join her and she spotted boats, she swam away.
2. Sunken Shipwreck: A boat that had obviously sunk a long time ago where she spent a few nights, wanting to take a break from swimming all day. It had other fish and sea creatures living there, too. She explored the wreckage but there was really nothing interesting. It just made her wonder how many more of them were littered among the ocean.
3. Whale Encounter: Her first time seeing a whale! It was actually super fucking terrifying because JESUS those things are massive. It was a Humpback, go figure, and was obviously wary of her. But once she got close enough to communicate and it calmed down they swam together for a while. I’m thinking that sequence in the Little Mermaid 2 during “For a Moment,” when Melody is chilling on the whale’s back....yah...
4. Seafloor: She was near some shallow waters, the deep depths not so very scary and seemingly endless, and bucked up the courage to dive deeper than she ever had. She finally met the ocean floor and saw a whole bunch of fish and animals she hadn’t before. Including an octopus that was very interested in the bags she had with her. They became buddies, too.
5. The Waters of the North Sea: Where she witnessed a boat capsizing and a bunch of life boats floating in the middle of the stormy weather. She had planned on swimming deeper to get away from the rain and bad conditions until she saw someone get thrown over into the water. Once, then twice. When they started to sink, she saved them and brought them to shore. Otherwise known as the spot she met Eric Andersen for the first time.
6. Playón de Bayas, Spain: After being well and truly spooked from saving a human she swam to shore and got a ticket to somewhere far away enough from Norway but not far from England. She spent a while in Spain because they spoke Spanish so it was familiar enough to get by, despite it not being like Avalorian Spanish and their sign language was completely different. But she managed, because she had to. When she finally felt like she was just being silly and the person she’d saved hadn’t seen enough of her to be able to find her in any way/shape/or form, she returned to sea.
7. Side quest in the Celtic Sea: She had every intention of heading right to England to go to Swynlake but she got sidetracked when she ran into a pod of other merfolk that were being chased down by a boat. Apparently there were poachers in the area, and Gabriella was quick to help them with all the little ones they had to keep track of, so she had to yeet with them down to Morocco
8. Oualidia , Morocco: They pulled up to the port here where the family had friends waiting for them! Morocco was safer for Magicks as a whole, even if the family weren’t out about being Merfolk, and their friends were happy to take them in after they heard they were in trouble. She hung out with them for a while, because it was nice to finally be around people who understood her and after so long without talking to anyone but the wild life of the ocean it was nice! With them she actually worked out a plan for what she was going to do when she got to Swynlake. Applied to PrideU here! But also got comfortable, so she was here for QUITE a while.
9. Paris, France: After her time was up, she caught a plane ticket to France to take the train from there to London. She didn’t spend a long time there, but she did manage to see the Eiffle Tour at night, when it was doing the sparkly thing. Blinky-blinky. She didn’t really think it was all that romantic or what the movies hyped it up to be, but again, she wasn’t there for a long time. It was significant because it was the first time she was back around in the masses of people instead of just in the ocean, in a sleepy sea side town, and without her new friends to help her out.
10. London, England: FINALLY MADE IT TO THE UK! It was like a huge breath of relief to know she was only so far away from the destination she had spent more than like 2 years trying to get to. And she began her journey to Swynlake. Could only go uphill from there, right? RIGHT??
