Prodrive P25, 2022. 25 years after they debuted the two door Impreza WRC, Prodrive has reimagined what this car would have been today. Carbon fibre has reduced the car’s weight to less than 1200 kg while Subaru’s latest 2.5 litre flat 4 has been tuned to produce 400hp, enough to propel the P25 from 0-100kph in 3.5 seconds. Prodrive will make 25 cars which have six speed sequential gearboxes and a WRC-style launch control system.

PRODRIVE REDEFINES AN ICON WITH THE P25 25 years since the first Subaru Impreza World Rally Car (WRC) made its winning debut on the stages of the World Rally Championship, the Prodrive P25 recaptures the essence of that very Impreza, while taking inspiration from the 22B arguably the most iconic Impreza. Modern technology ensures the P25 is more powerful, lighter and with better handling. This time it will have a 2.5 litre flat four ‘boxer’ engine producing in excess of 400 bhp, a six speed semi-automatic paddle-shift gearbox and, due to extensive use of carbon fibre, a lightweight chassis. The P25 will be produced in a limited run of just 25 cars, all built at Prodrive’s headquarters in Banbury, UK. Peter Stevens, who styled the original Impreza WRC for Prodrive, has defined the design, while the engineering of the car has been overseen by Prodrive technical director, David Lapworth, who was responsible for the original Impreza WRC. The P25 is the idea of Prodrive chairman, David Richards. He said: “The original 22B Impreza is considered the most iconic of Subarus and highly sought after. We wanted to enhance everything that made that car so special by applying the very latest technology to create our own modern interpretation of a car that’s established a place in motoring history.” The Prodrive P25 will make its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June. Sebastien Loeb gana la Etapa 7 del Dakar 2022 y recupera la segunda posición detrás de Nasser Al-Attiyah
Después de una mala Etapa 6 en la que cometió un error de navegación por estar abriendo ruta, Sebastien Loeb recuperó la senda correcta al ganar con claridad la Etapa 7 y comenzar la segunda semana con su triunfo N°2 en este Dakar 2022. El alsaciano le sacó 5 minutos y 26 segundos a Nasser Al-Attiyah, que terminó P2 y 10 minutos a su rival por el segundo puesto, Yazeed Al-Rajhi, que fue quinto. La diferencia de Loeb en la general sigue siendo importante: Le queda por descontar 44 minutos para llegar al liderato general.
Loeb lideró la especial desde el kilómetro 221 de 400 y no miró atrás, beneficiado por una mejor posición de salida luego de sus problemas de navegación en la Etapa 6. Batalló la primera mitad de la especial con Carlos Sainz, que arrancó poco después de él, pero finalmente fue cediendo tiempo y terminó a 7 minutos y 43 segundos en la tercera posición. Es la tercera victoria de Prodrive en el Dakar 2022 (y en el Dakar en su historia) y segunda consecutiva, demostrando que los BRX Hunter están a punto para la semana final del rally.
Nasser Al-Attiyah volvió a tener un día conservador, en el que no brilló y se mantuvo entre 4 y 6 minutos de Loeb durante toda la etapa. El piloto de Toyota Gazoo Racing sabe que manteniendo la ventaja tiene asegurada una cómoda victoria y no está forzando. Aun así, obtuvo la segunda posición detrás de Loeb, aunque cede 5 minutos de su diferencia.
Lucio Álvarez fue séptimo y aprovechó los problemas de Giniel de Villiers (P42 hoy) para volver a la cuarta posición de la clasificación general. Orly Terranova fue P11 y escala a la sexta posición general, en tanto que Sebastián Halpern fue P16 y se mantiene cerrando el Top 10.
Laia Sanz terminó P25 para mantenerse dentro del Top 30 y ahora es P26 general. La catalana lamentó dos pinchazos en los kilómetros finales de la especial.
