Rising Star: New Disorder
I New Disorder nascono a Roma nell’aprile 2009.

Interview with the UnDungeon composer - stonefromthesky
youtube
1. Tell us about yourself. How did you start making music? What were your influences?
As you know, I make music and perform it live under the name of stonefromthesky. I started this affair in 2012. Before that I played in several bands including I afloat, which was accepted quite warmly by the fans of underground music here in Ukraine. As for my influences, I believe that on subconscious level I’m drawn to art and aesthetics of 1990-2000s. You know, White Pony, Ghost Dog, Mezzanine, Fight Club, A Sun That Never Sets, that kind of stuff.
2. Soundtracks to pixel-art games are usually stylized after 8-bit or chiptune music. You offered a different approach for UnDungeon. Your music has much more live feel to it. Why did you choose such a course?
I believe that there is no point in following “established” rules. Pixel art and chiptune music are not interchangeable in my mind. Besides, UnDungeon has a certain vibe, and I did my best to translate it into a soundtrack.
3. Are there any specific rules or techniques that you follow while working on the soundtrack and sound design for the game?
When I’m working on music, I visualize myself playing the game. I try to interpret the visual and verbal art into audio. It is like translating. I look for an audio equivalent of the emotion I get from screenshots, videos, or the story.
Also, I believe in combining synthesized sounds with live recordings for the most interesting result. Furthermore, I like to use field recording in my music a lot. For example, the kick in The Shift was made by recording a tennis ball bouncing off a mirror. Yes, I’m that kind of a neighbor that throws a tennis ball into a wall for fun. That particular time the ball accidentally ricocheted into the mirror, and I was like: “That sounds cool. I need to sample this”. So, I took the mic and recorded the bounce. That’s what ended up being the kick drum in The Shift.
4. Tell us about your gear. Does a musician depend on material stuff, or is it more about the skill set and hard work?
If you want to make music, you will need some sort of gear anyway. Be it a guitar or a computer, or even a pair of drumsticks. Despite this fact, I believe that the skills and hard work are definitely way more important than gear, especially nowadays. A good musician will be able to make music with anything he has access to.
Regarding my stuff, I don’t need much. My guitar, bass, a couple of mics, and a laptop with an audio interface - is basically all the “hardware” that I need. On the software side, Ableton Live is my DAW of choice. In regards to VST’s, I use Reaktor, Kontakt, Diva, XLN stuff. You can hear Arturia’s Mini V in The Shift and Wasteland Law. When I don’t need to record a real guitar head and cabinet, then I use Amplitube or ReValver. Additionally, I record lots of live stuff, be it a guitar or some everyday objects that sound interesting. My mic of choice is SM57.
5. Are you playing video-games? What are your favorite ones?
I used to play a lot, but now I have to choose whether I spend my time playing a game or making music. Well, I choose the latter most of the time. However, video-games are very useful if you need to clear your head after a long creative session. And the cool thing is that they are still as fun as 10-15 years ago.
My genres of choice are RPG and Action, but I don’t restrain myself to them. My all-time favorite game is Max Payne. I’m a big fan of Fallout, Gothic, SW: KotOR, Baldur’s Gate, etc. The last game that I thoroughly enjoyed was Hyper Light Drifter.
6. Are there any ideas regarding your future work on the sounds and music of UnDungeon? Will you experiment more or are you certain about your vision?
There are lots of ideas. I will certainly experiment more.
7. You play live regularly. Are you performing any songs from the UnDungeon OST at your concerts?
I’ve been performing The Shift for almost a year now, both solo and with the band. You can check out the video here:
youtube
Additionally, lots of people asked for Riding the Void, so I consider adding it to the live set at some point.
8. Tell us more about your live shows. How do you transform the tracks for playing them live?
At the moment of writing this, I have two live-show formats: ‘solo’ and ‘with the band’. When I play alone, I shift my music towards the electronic side. Live drums are substituted with drum-machines and samplers, bass with monosynth, that kind of stuff. Playing with the band, on the other hand, has more rock feel to it.
9. What do you think is missing in the sound of modern games? What would you change in it if you could?
The sound of modern games is more professional than ever. Still, there is room for improvement. I would like braver, less generic, and more experimental soundtracks and sounds.
10. When is your next release? How different is it comparing to the last record?
The release of the new album is planned for this year. Sonically, I believe it is a solid step forward. This time everything will be way more diverse and deep. The record is loaded with food for thought if you are willing to surrender to it. That’s all information I can share right now.

Custom Bikes Of The Week: 26 November, 2017
What happens when a notorious flat track nut decides to build a chopper? We take a look at Roland Sands’ latest build to find out. And then cast our eyes over a murdered-out Aprilia Tuono, the slinky new CCM FT6 tracker, and a monstrous CR500 wheelie machine.
Aprilia Tuono by Ireful Motorcycles Of all the bikes I’ve ridden over the last few years, the Aprilia Tuono is easily one of my favorites. The ferocity of acceleration, the engine sound and the precision handling are even more addictive than nicotine. But not everyone is a fan of boy-racer bikini fairings.
Dario Denichilo of Milan-based Ireful recently put a Tuono 1000 on his bench and the result, Tumultus 130, is absolutely gorgeous. All the liveried plastics have been binned, in favor of flowing, hand formed aluminum. The rear subframe is also all-new and creates an elevated perch, delivering an aggressive riding position while also hiding the electrics. In profile, it gives this nouveau-cafe a look reminiscent of the Lotus C-01. And that’s no bad thing.
The Ape’s mighty V-twin engine, suspension and braking are top-notch right out of the box, so little work was needed on the performance front. But a new SC Project exhaust has been fitted to shed some weight, and clean up appearances—and it undoubtedly adds extra baritone to Tumultus’ thunder. [More]
Indian ‘Mescalero’ by Roland Sands Design Choppers aren’t usually our thing around here. But every now and then, one sneaks up and demands attention. Such is the case with Mescalero, the latest creation from flat track and cafe icon Roland Sands.
Designed to pay homage to a bike Roland’s dad built back in the 70s, Mescalero is a modern ‘road bomber’ powered by an 111 cubic-inch V-Twin from an Indian Chief. But outside of that powerplant, everything else is essentially custom, and completely old school. The chromoly frame is a plunger unit, giving it the appearance of a rigid without the spine-crushing ride quality. Up front, Mescalero uses a custom girder set-up with a little help from an Öhlins shock absorber.
Of course, the retro treatments don’t end with the mechanicals. An impressive padded sissy bar and tri-bend bars have been fitted to further accentuate the bike’s massive rake. RSD’s chief fabricator, Aaron Boss, even tooled up a foot clutch and jockey shift—for authenticity and, well, radness. [More]
CCM FT6 Tracker Need evidence that the tracker movement is in full swing? Look no further than the latest bike to be green-lit by England’s CCM Motorcycles, the FT6.
Based on the same architecture and engine used in their already tasty (and sold out) Spitfire line, the FT6 is a carbon-fiber clad runner. And it has real ties to the dirt oval: Ten years ago, Marco Belli rode a CCM to the European Championship.
Like the other bikes in CCM’s portfolio, the FT6 will be a completely hand built model, bolted and welded together by an escapee from Lockheed Martin’s original Skunk Works. The 599cc thumper powering the FT6 is good for 55 hp, and rumor says it should tip scales at a scant 125 kg (275 pounds). Unfortunately, as with the drool-worthy Spitfires, the FT6 will be a limited production bike. Only 250 are set to see the light of day. But the good news is that this awesomeness can be yours for around £9,000 (US$12,000) if you’re quick. [More]
Honda CR500 by Dab Design To mark the end of a successful 2017 and celebrate a year in business, 26-year-old Simon Dabadie has created what might be the ultimate wheelie machine: a supermoto CR500.
If you drooled over Simon’s last LM Series build you’ll know that he integrates 3D scanning and printing into his build process for optimal fitment and design. That process has continued here to deliver Dab’s signature LM look—but it’s the choice of donor that has us truly intrigued.
The CR500 that underpins this bike is one of 360 models that were homologated for road use in the early 90s by a French Honda dealer, Diapason. With around 65 horsepower spooling up in abrupt 2-stroke fashion, and barely 100 kilos of mass to move, LM #5 should be a blast to ride. Of course, Simon’s also upgraded nearly everything, including brakes from Beringer and some custom, revalved suspension bits from the masters at Öhlins. Now that is truly something worth celebrating. [More]
Moto Morini Ti22 Corsaro What is it about a custom build that speaks to you? Is it a slinky set of expertly welded pipes? Smooth, flowing, hand built bodywork? An exposed trellis frame? Or MotoGP levels of performance? How about all of those things, in one incredible package? Enter Moto Morini.
The Ti22 Corsaro is an absolute masterclass in design and craftsmanship. It’s also the latest example of just what you can order from the Trivolzio, Italy manufacturer when you sign up for their ‘Yours and Yours Alone’ customization service.
Based on Moto Morini’s already handmade Corsaro ZZ, the Ti22 version retains the trellis frame, Brembo brakes, fully adjustable Mupo suspension and 137 hp, 1200cc V-Twin found in the original. But it ups the ante with bespoke bodywork and one of the prettiest sets of pipes I’ve ever laid eyes on: a titanium, pie-cut exhaust custom made by the folks at Arrow.
The revised endurance racer bodywork is all aluminum, and so is the new custom tank. Together, they deliver a timeless look that I’m sure anyone would be happy to parade around. Pricing isn’t mentioned, but it’s probably a smidge more than the Brough we showed you last week. [More]

How Can I Get A Smoother Ride From My Motorcycle? Dear MOby, I have a KTM Duke 390 and it is the only bike I use for everything. That includes, but is not limited to, touring, riding to buy groceries, and just riding around town. The problem I have is that at times I ride to destinations that don’t necessarily have tarred roads. Sometimes I have to ride on unpaved roads that have rocks on them. You can imagine how painful the ride is, but I can’t afford another bike for touring. So the question is, is there an economical solution to fix my suspension? Regards, KK Rockville Your Duke’s suspension isn’t exactly plush and you wouldn’t expect it to be given the bike’s low price and its mission, but it’s really not so bad either. The only adjustment in the stock suspension is for spring preload at the rear, so make sure it’s not wound in too far for your weight. Adjusting Motorcycle Suspension Smoother suspension action can be had if you get a reputable tuning shop to revalve it for your weight and riding environment or upgrade it with aftermarket parts. If you’re really light, like less than 150 pounds, you could try softer springs, but then you might also open several new, expensive cans of worms. Sometimes the simplest solution is the best one, Rockhopper, sometimes so simple as to be right under your nose, or butt, in this instance. The great Steve Anderson, the last EiC of Cycle magazine and a real-live engineer, once pointed out this not-so-obvious fact to me: The first component of any motorcycle suspension is its seat. We’ve ridden a KTM or two equipped with KTM’s own comfort seats, and found them to be a truly worthy investment for long rides. As a matter of fact, we tested the one for your very bike here, where we wrote: Another sore spot – literally – was the stock seat, which isn’t especially compliant and uses a plasticky cover. KTM’s PowerParts catalog provided relief in the form of the Ergo Seat, which uses much nicer material for its cover and plusher, thicker foam. It’s vastly more comfortable than the stocker and remained so even after nearly 200 miles in the saddle when I rode it out to Chuckwalla Valley Raceway for a trackday. “Its 20mm of increased seat height certainly helped increase comfort in the legroom department for my 5-foot-11 chassis,” T-Rod lauds. “I wouldn’t hesitate to take it on a longer ride.” KTM’s Ergo seat for your bike is KTM part number 902.07.940.100. It’s 20mm taller than the stock seat, packed with “technologically advanced components” like “3D structural mesh special foam with built-in tunnel form,” etc, and sells for about $130. If that’s too rich, consider something like a Saddlemen Tech Comfort Gel Pad, a strap-on deal that comes in five different sizes and puts a layer of shock-absorbing gel between your fundament and your Duke. The size Medium sells for $85. A lot of riders swear by their AirHawk seats, which as the name implies, use an air suspension-based system to cushion your behind. You’ll have to measure your Duke to see what style/size will fit, but they’re around $110. I bet you’ll find any of these three will be a huge improvement over your thinnish stock saddle, and there are a lot of other saddle makers out there too. Check forums for advice, but realize that no two butts are exactly alike. Direct your motorcycle-related questions to [email protected], though some say we’re better at non-motorcycle-related ones… How Can I Get A Smoother Ride From My Motorcycle? appeared first on Motorcycle.com.

Top 6 Best FK8 Civic Type R Coilovers and Lowering Springs
While the Honda Civic Type R FK8 might be the best front-wheel-drive car to ever be offered to the general public, it’s not perfect. Straight from the factory, it has a really tall ride height to help accommodate the strangely large 20-inch OEM wheels.
Luckily, it’s pretty easy to lower your Civic Type R thanks to the vast aftermarket support. Unfortunately, it can be a little difficult to find the perfect suspension setup for your needs and budget. To help you find the perfect suspension setup, we’ve created this short guide of our favorite FK8 Civic Type R coilovers and lowering springs.
HKS Hipermax IV SP
When it comes to JDM tuning manufacturers, HKS has long been one of the biggest names around. For the FK8 Civic Type R, they offer a plethora of different parts. The specific part we’re looking at is their Hipermax IV SP coilovers. What’s unique about these coilovers, is the included HKS Error Canceller with cancels the error message that appears when the stock suspension is removed.
Price: $2300
30 way adjustable damping
Adjustable front camber
Error canceller included
1 year warranty
Pillow ball upper
The Hipermax IV SP coilovers offer 30-way adjustable damping with adjustable camber in the front. The front coilovers use a pillow ball upper with the original upper design in the rear. The only downside to the Hipermax IV coilovers is the price tag, but if you want the best performance possible, these coilovers are hard to beat.

Lowering Springs vs Coilovers
Deciding if you want lowering springs or coilovers mostly comes down to your goals with your Civic. While lowering springs are very cheap and simple way to reduce wheel gap, they simply cannot offer the performance of coilovers. The lack of performance from lowering springs comes from a mismatch in damping with the OEM dampers.
Your OEM dampers are designed to work within a specific movement range and work with specific spring rates. Lowering springs can put your OEM dampers outside their ideal movement range and most lowering springs will also use a higher spring rate.
Aftermarket coilovers, on the other hand, are designed with spring rate and damping in mind. Aftermarket coilovers match their stiffer spring rates which stiffer damping, resulting in much more controlled body movement.
On top of the better control, most aftermarket coilovers offer damping, preload, and height adjustment, which opens up a world of performance benefits if you understand how to properly tune your suspension.
To put it simply. if you want a cheap way to lower your ride height and give your Civic a more aggressive look, lowering springs could be the best option. If you want the most performance possible and adjustability, aftermarket coilovers are definitely the better option.
