RWRB FirstPrince AU Recs - Part Three
Tumblr media
I'm back with more! Dive into some recently-read AUs with me below.
pixel perfect by rizcriz. G, 1k. Alex is looking over the directions with barely contained glee, and Henry—Henry’s looking at Alex. He’s pushed into the wall of the Photo Booth when Alex suddenly leans forward and pulls his wallet out of his back pocket.
“We are so doing this,” Alex says excitedly.
The corner of Henry’s mouth twitches. “Oh?” He asks, watching Alex pull a ten dollar bill from his wallet. “And here I thought you’d only pulled us in here to make out a bit.”
Or, Alex and Henry are in love in a photo booth.
Total Eclipse by @myheartalivewrites. T, 1.2k. Alex is not sure what the fuck is happening here.
“And if you only hold me tight…”
A man—probably the most beautiful man he has ever seen—is up on stage in this karaoke bar, absolutely murdering Bonnie Tyler’s Total Eclipse of the Heart and he’s pretty sure the guy is crying and it’s one of the most horrifying things he’s ever seen and Alex cannot. Look. Away.
all we are is skin and bones by @indestructibleheart. T, 1.3k. Alex didn't plan to push Henry Fox into oncoming traffic.
it might be worth it for once by blueberriesandcream. G, 1.6k. quick little alternate scene. what if alex's protective streak had made an appearance when zahra found he and henry in their hotel room?
We've Got To Stop Meeting Like This by @everwitch-magiks. M, 1.9k. Alex books an Airbnb studio with a shared bathroom. The other studio is occupied by a man with lush pink lips and impressive personal hygiene — really, he’s super diligent about lathering and rinsing. Alex would know, seeing as the lock to the bathroom is seriously unreliable.
Or: the Airbnb romp you didn’t know you needed.
exclusive member deal by stutteringpeach. T, 2k.
Alex: "Let me take you on a date."
The date: Costco.
beyond measure by T, 2.1k. alex and henry host nora, june and pez for weekly fellow travelers watch parties.
tonight, they're watching the series finale. it comes crashing down on henry, and alex is there to catch him.
Couture of the Juicy Variety by ronans. G, 2.1k. It's Henry's birthday and his work crush has what some may call a wardrobe malfunction.
Adrift by TuppingLiberty. T, 2.2k. Alex works in the Texas Department of Justice as a research attorney. He's been low-key flirting with his downstairs neighbor Henry for the past few months. Unfortunately, he works himself sick and ends up at Henry's doorstep accidentally.
you all over me by @dumbpeachjuice. E, 2.3k. When Henry organises an evening of group sex, he never expects to meet a gorgeous man he wants to marry and have children with.
Or, a meet-cute at a sex club.
something more, something right by rizcriz. T, 2.7k. Alex blinks at him, seemingly entirely unimpressed. “So, you’re just going to pretend we’re not in love with each other?”
Let the flickering flame of your soul play all about me. by barthelme. E, 2.8k. Around them, there is the rustle of trees and the crisp whip of wind against nylon. An owl hooting. Faint whispers of campers still lingering around the dying campfire that Henry would like to block out entirely because, “We shouldn’t be doing this.”
“I’m aware,” Alex says, but his mouth clearly says he doesn’t care.
Or, the one where Alex and Henry are camp counselors who lead overnight hikes and fuck around at night.
please report to HR by @smc-27. G, 3.2k. Alex frowns at his inbox.
The only reason he knows Henry’s name is that people keep calling him “hot HR Henry” as if there’s anyone else in this office named Henry. Alex hasn’t met the guy yet. He’s been avoiding it mostly out of pettiness.
Henry and the Charisma Vortex by ronans. NR, 3.7k. ‘How’s about I take you to a bookstore and treat you to a trashy romance novel to say sorry for interrupting your first date with the love of your life?’
‘I fear the longer I spend time with you, the longer I will be unable to live this spectacular failure down.’
He warms at the thought of spending more time with Henry. ‘Solid deduction, you are absolutely right.’ He takes a punt and grabs Henry’s free hand. ‘C’mon.’
Or, Alex is sat next to a tragic date and has the urge to intervene.
Cloudy With a Chance of Fuckery by ronans. M, 3.9k. ‘Henry’s here with us for the weather.’ He pivots in his seat and grins over to the other corner of the studio. ‘Now, is it hot in here, or is it just you?’
Without missing a beat, Henry smiles cordially and gestures to the green screen behind him. ‘We’re actually in the middle of a cold snap.’
Or, an ode to Alex fucking with Henry live on air.
A Sin Better Than Heaven by @anchoredarchangel. E, 3.9k.
“Show me,” the king says, a demand. He sets the vial back down, careless to where it lands compared to where it originated. He leans back against the table, crosses his arms over his chest; chin raised, jaw set- a picture of regality. Henry’s heart is pounding in his chest, the unstable beat of too many horse hooves overlapping, like the canter through the woods that very afternoon before he was shoved from his saddle. For the first time, he considers the possibility that perhaps he had hit his head harder than he realized- against the ground or against the tree, because certainly his hope is misplaced; certainly he is not following this conversation as well as he presumed. “Show you what, Your Majesty?” The king only deigns to move a hand, untucking it from his elbow in order to wave it vaguely. “How your body responds to men.”
Or: A criminally loose reimagining of the tent scene from Mary & George, only Alex is a sexually confused king, and Henry's the one who has been sent to seduce him.
Don’t You Dare Look Away by @emmalostinwonderland. E, 3.9k. “Jesus, Fox, if you wanna fuck me so goddamn bad, you could just say so.”
Alex fully expects to be dropped to the floor, but Henry just tightens his grip on Alex’s waist. “You… you’re not serious.”
And really, what could go wrong? “Serious as a heart attack, baby.”
// Alex and Henry are paired up for a pro dance on DWTS one week, but they just can’t seem to get along… until something clicks.
a feeling like this (could it be bliss?) by rizcriz. E, 4k. There’s a blonde woman plastered to Alex’s front. Ten minutes ago, he’d been grinding up against a brunette man half a foot shorter than him. Ten minutes before that, he’d been laughing with a red head at the bar. And ten minutes before that?
Ten minutes before that, he’d had that megawatt smile directed at Henry, laughing at something June said. And then he’d wandered off to get them more drinks, and now he’s off, giving his attention to people who are, quite frankly, not good enough for him, and Henry? Henry’s — christ, okay, Henry’s jealous.
Henry’s fucking fuming.
Or, Henry wants his boyfriend back.
Another Door Opens by @14carrotghoul. T, 4.1k. Henry takes a long drink. “If it makes you feel any better, my dad's dead. He and my mum had the type of love straight from the storybooks and it got cut tragically short, so what is the point in finding something real if it's just going to hurt you?”
Alex bites back a smile and shakes his head. “How in the fuck was that supposed to make me feel better?”
He waves his hand awkwardly. “Oh, I just thought we were both sharing the trauma that impacted our romantic relationships.”
Henry and Alex first meet when Henry reveals their partners are cheating on them with each other.
north star by sharkfins. T, 4.9k. “God, you know, I could stare at you all day,” he says finally. “I want to get this tattooed on the inside of my eyelids.”
“Ugh, gross,” Henry says while scrunching up his nose. Even still, his cheeks flush.
“Seriously, Hen, you look pretty.” Alex runs his fingers through Henry’s hair and places another kiss on his forehead.
Henry bites back a slightly embarrassing excited noise and shoves his face into Alex’s neck and smiles into his skin. Hen. Alex calls him that all the time, but for some reason now it’s making something stir inside his chest.
“I can’t believe I get to call you mine,” he adds, running his hand down the back of Henry’s head and settles his arm around his shoulders again.
Henry moves impossibly closer to him and looks up to meet his eyes. “Pretty, huh?”
“Absolutely gorgeous.”
or: Henry experiments with gender <3
Best Practice in Sexual Favours by everwitch. E, 5.1k. They meet at a bar. Alex is young; fresh out of law school, sharp and charismatic and oh-so attractive. The sex is absolutely incredible, and Henry has no regrets. At least not until the morning after when he finds himself opposite Alex in a meeting — equipped with the painful knowledge that Alex’s boss thinks Alex’s only function in said meeting is to sit there and look all pretty. Somebody ought to call HR right about now.
Or: when sexual relationships mix with professional ones, Alex and Henry make the most of it.
We met in the Park by TuppingLiberty. E, 5.3k. Henry is absolutely obsessed with the runner he sees in the park every day at lunch.
cause you're classic, and i'm reckless by @firenati0n. T, 5.4k. “I've, actually, uh. I've never done this before.”
At this, Henry stops short, takes a second as his gaze moves up and to the left, trying to recall something. “I've seen your films. You most certainly have done intimate scenes.”
Alex clears his throat. He hopes his nerves aren't completely obvious, the slight waver in his voice about to give him away. “Yeah, well. Never with a man, so. Not at this scale, anyway.”
“Would it help to, er, practice?" Henry winces a little as he says it, which does not inspire confidence. But Alex is shocked nonetheless. What the fuck?
Diving In Dick-First by quill_and_ink. E, 5.5k. "So... we're doing an intimate piercing today?"
Alex promptly crawls under a rock to die.
Trying My Patience (Try Pink Carnations) by @cha-melodius. E, 5.6k. Unfortunately for him, the only things more beautiful than Alex himself are Alex’s cakes. He’s the most in-demand cake artist in the city, and as such he books a lot of weddings. Many of the very same weddings that simply must also have Fox Florals arrangements for their centrepieces. Weddings like, apparently, this one.
(Or, Henry the florist and Alex the cake artist are forced to collaborate last minute at a wedding job, make a mess, and learn some things about each other in the process.)
A thousand dreams that would awake me by @kiwiana-writes. E, 5.9k.
“It’s not about punishment.” Alex just nods; Henry had been very clear on the form that he wasn’t looking to be dominated or put in his place, so that won’t be new information. “And it’s not the pain as such.” He runs his fingers along the edge of the mug. “I mean, don’t get me wrong, I like to feel it, but I’m not looking for pain for the sake of pain. It’s more about… control, I think.” There’s a long silence. “Taking it?” Alex prompts finally. “Or giving it up?” “Does it sound ridiculous if I say both?”
Or, Henry visits a sex club to get spanked the way he's craving.
Want Me by @orchidscript. E, 6.1k. Henry had always been weak for a nice smile, but his was impossible to ignore.
Blame it on summer heat and a fresh flush in his cheeks. Blame it on sunset painting the outdoor bar sweltering, romantic colors. Blame it on two healthy glasses of albariño thrumming in his bloodstream, or the good music floating on the air.
Henry could blame it on anything liked if he thought long and hard about it, but that didn’t change much at the end. The core remained the same: he had been gone from the jump.
Henry and Alex hook up on a vacation in Spain. Henry falls a bit deeper.
i think about jumping (just to see you come running) by @coffeecatsme. T, 6.1k. Henry Fox likes to think he’s led a good life.
He’s been a good son to his parents, though his grandmother would probably disagree with him being a good grandson—although, if he’s honest with himself, he’d rather take that as a compliment. He’s used the family money for good, built a life for himself. He’s saved the sweetest beagle from a shelter and paid an arm and a leg bringing him to the States from England. He doesn’t think killing a few mosquitos in his lifetime and the select words he had for the homophobic part of his family should curse him for years of torture.
Alas, that’s the only explanation as to why the public library he’s worked for for years would move him to a branch right next to a goddamn fire station.
Or, 5 times Henry embarrasses himself in front of Alex and 1 time Alex embarrasses himself in front of Henry.
Five letter word for 'unobservant' by @clottedcreamfudge. E, 6.9k. And podfic by @thirdeye1234. “He's so annoying,” Alex says, the words spilling out of his mouth before he can stop them as he sits down at his desk opposite Nora. Nora – colleague, semi-sister-in-law, and unfortunately his best friend – is used to this by now, and continues eating a croissant over her keyboard in the manner of someone who has the only ergonomic, crumb-resistant keyboard in the office, and wants everyone to know it.
“Please,” she says, not even looking at him as she presumably whizzes through accounts or something, mouth full of buttery pastry. “Elucidate. I have no idea who you're talking about and there is no precedent for you interrupting my morning with those words at all.”
Alex scowls at her. “Wordle Guy.”
in this home series by riversdeep. T, 7.5k. At that, Alex looks him straight in the eye. “I'm sorry I fell in love with you years ago and never said a single thing about it.”
A self indulgent childhood best friends to lovers AU, exploring the transition from best friends to boyfriends
me and you and awkward silence by @kill8a. M, 7.5k. Alex has a bit of a predicament. The new librarian, Henry Fox, has proved to be a little too attractive to go un-noticed, and he might be harboring a bit of a crush.
make it five by @anincompletelist. M, 8k. “Fifty bucks says I can get that guy’s number.”
Popping the bubble of cinnamon-flavored gum Alex had just blown, he glances up from his phone to look at where Nora’s pointing. Just over the soles of his shoes, crossed at the ankles and propped on the flaking black wood of the shop’s front desk, there’s a man with broad shoulders lingering by the far wall. Alex hadn’t even heard the guy come in.
“Nora. He’s literally looking at one of the biggest dildos I’ve ever seen,” he deadpans quietly.
alex works at a sex toy shop. it's usually a pretty easy job — if he could just stop daydreaming about the blonde guy that keeps coming in to buy literally all of alex's favorite sex toys.
pour some sugar on me by @sunnysideprince. M, 8.2k. Alex makes not-so-safe-for-work baking videos on Instagram for a living, and Henry, unsurprisingly, goes through a crisis because of it.
An Amateur’s Guide to Professional Gift-Giving by anincompletelist (soldouthaz). T, 8.9k. Alex, a former-law-student-taking-some-time-off turned professional part-time gift giver, is tasked with finding a gift for the most high profile client he's ever worked with, both in and out of the world of law.
It turns out finding the perfect gift for the Prince of Wales might be easier than he'd anticipated.
secret admirer by rizcriz. T, 9.5k. Today, though, he’s watching in delight as a massive bouquet of roses makes its way through the office, the delivery guy carefully weaving between cubicles as he heads for Nora’s desk. Last week, Nora had revealed to the office one of his embarrassing college hook up stories that involved a thong and sitting cold and shivering in a police station while he waited to be picked up. Today—today he’s sicking Nadine and Alberta on Nora as payback.
His gaze flicks over to Nora where she’s sitting at her desk oblivious to her incoming doom, and then back to the delivery guy. Anticipation, hot and excited, bundles up in Alex’s gut as he clears the final turn of cubicles, and just as Alex is about to grin, wicked and delighted at Nora, the delivery guy makes another turns and comes to a stop at the completely wrong desk.
And then he sets the flowers down and leaves.
or, an accidental flower delivery.
my little dove by dearestalez. M, 9.8k.
“Kinda cliché,” Alex says, looking up at the mural.
“It’s Bea’s favourite piece,” Henry says.
Alex looks at him, “that makes sense.”
They travel through a plethora of shops. Henry picks up a hat, Alex holds a jumper to his chest and twirls until Henry is giggling into his fingers.
“Why do they never have my size?” Alex laments, holding a nice pair of shoes that don’t come in seven and a half. Only seven or eight. Henry doesn’t mean to laugh, he didn’t really think that was something he did. Laugh at people’s expense. But he isn’t doing that. Alex is pouting over a pair of shoes, with wide brown eyes and slumped shoulders, and Henry is laughing at the absurdity of it all.
He never thought that the man across the building cradling a beer to his chest was the type to pout and whine when a shop didn’t carry his size. He never thought he’d find that out. He never thought that stranger from that bar would turn into someone he knows.
“You’re a dick,” Alex says, but he’s grinning and Henry is weak.
i want to mark my skin (it is paper thin) by @violetbaudelaire-quagmire. M, 10k.

Hello,
Attached you’ll find a line art drawing of the constellation Orion. The shoulder blade is the intended location.

i dream of our odyssey by violetbaudelairequagmire. E, 10k. Alex rests his elbows on the counter of the small cafe attached to Bankston’s Books, enjoying the quiet period in between the morning stay-at-home-mom-crying-toddler storytime crowd and the rush of college students that appear in the afternoon. It’s only a couple hours, but it’s nice to have that time with just a few black coffees in between the rush of “pumpkin spice latte and a cakepop” and “quad shot espressos and keep them coming” that dominate the busy periods at the bookstore. He’s not complaining though- he loves this job. He gets a discount on books, no one cares how much coffee he drinks in a shift, and, in the last couple of weeks, he’s had a great view of the new guy quietly shelving books.
A Tapestry of Intimacy Unfolded by hqwhna. M, 10k. It's a case of textbook serendipity when Senator Alex Claremont-Diaz and Dr. Henry Fox first meet at a fundraiser in D.C. Now, Alex just has to think of an excuse to see him again...
no drug like me by stutteringpeach. E, 10k. “I’d like to pay for your schooling,” Henry says casually. “Move you into a better apartment. You’ll get an allowance, of course, but that will be for you to do with what you will. Your expenses will be covered outside of that.”
Alex blinks. He’s drunk off expensive wine and Henry’s attention. His brain isn’t functioning. “What?”
Henry’s expression hasn’t changed. “Do you need me to repeat myself?”
XOXO Gossip Girl by alyaasca. T, 11k. Diazes love gossiping. And Henry, well, he wants to be a part of Alex's family. Thanks to his therapist, he has a number of breathing exercises up his sleeve, and also a dream. Watch him take his rightful place by learning the art of family gossip.
i don't know how not to by smc_27. M, 11k. “Here’s what we’re gonna do,” he tells Martha in their next meeting, which takes place two hours outside of London at her parents’ ‘cottage’. To think they talk of her family as commoners when they have this much money is fucking insane. It just goes to illustrate how out of touch the whole monarchy machine is.
“Tea?” she offers, and he nods just to be polite. A literal, honest to god butler comes over to pour for him. “Carry on.”
“You’re gonna disappear,” he tells her, and her whole face lights up. Her shoulders relax. She looks straight at him. He can hear the kids playing with their grandmother in the next room.
“Tell me more.”
Or, Alex is Martha's divorce attorney
cut by @havanasroses. E, 12k.
Holy fucking eyelashes. He’s all tan skin and bright eyes and charming smile— everything that makes Henry weak in the knees. Pretty brown eyes dart between the lineup and his clipboard, trying to put two and two together, but all Henry can focus on are those arms. Those hands. That arse. “Can I call you up, handsome?” Henry almost blacks out.
or, the five times alex and henry shoot a video together as (not so) strangers, and the one time they do as a couple.
into temptation by stutteringpeach. E, 13k. When Henry wakes, there’s an ache in his arse and a wet patch on the sheets.
He tries to imagine how it happened. Whether he was on his side or his front already, whether he had to be rolled over. Whether they took their time or couldn’t wait, so turned on by the sight of him lying there.
It shouldn’t turn him on this much—the not knowing. But that was the point.
You've Been My Muse for a Long Time by @affectionatelyrs. E, 13k. There aren’t many instances in which Henry would claim he exhibits a colorful vocabulary. In fact, he could likely list them on one hand: when wretched people say the most bigoted things, when the local grocer has run out of their Jaffa Cake stock in the minuscule international aisle, when he gets bored and resorts to writing homoerotic poetry in his moleskin journal with a fountain pen like some lovelorn literary scholar from the eighteenth century.
And now, when he’s assigned to a gig he doesn’t want to be at. As in, he would rather publish said poetry to the unrelenting, merciless masses of the internet than be at this gig.
“You must be bloody fucking kidding me.”
Or, When Rolling Stone names Alex Claremont-Diaz as the number one rising star to look out for, Henry is tasked with the sole responsibility of photographing him for their cover shot. Which, truly, wouldn’t be an issue—it’s an incredible opportunity—except Henry doesn’t trust that miscreant to be within ten feet of him ever since The Incident™
Star-Crossed by schmulte. T, 17k. Alex is a principal ballerino with a hatred for Henry Fox. What happens when they're paired up and forced to dance together as star-crossed lovers? Will their partnership crash and burn, or will they cross uncharted territory and make ballet history?
Not An Act by quill_and_ink. E, 20k. It was bound to happen at some point. Alex and Henry had both started modeling within three months of each other and they'd both become known for dramatic, high fashion shoots, editorials, and runways, so it had just been a matter of time before they would be hired to work together. He could have handled it if they'd just been on the same set at the same time without actually having to shoot together, but no - the premise of the campaign is sensuality, intimacy. He has to pretend to be in love with Henry.
getting good now by Standinginmoonlight. M, 20k. Alex sighs and balls his hands up into fists, digging them into his eye sockets until he sees stars, and then he’s speaking without his brain giving his mouth permission.
“I can’t believe I’m going to marry someone British.”
Or: the Love is Blind AU that no-one asked for.
we should get married by smc_27. E, 25k. He’d spent most of the week sitting on the floor with his laptop open on the table, typing away about absolute nonsense in between sessions and phone calls with immigration and a lawyer trying to see if it’s possible there’s any way in the world he can stay in America while this gets sorted. The good news is this doesn’t bar him from trying again and just returning when it all gets sorted. Not that that will be easy, but still. It’s a possibility.
He makes the absolutely foolish mistake, after pouring his second drink, of googling ‘marriage visa’ as if that will be the answer to any or all of his problems. Allows himself a brief, excruciating moment to imagine he has someone to marry and make that a reality.
But then…he does, does he not?
OR, a greencard marriage AU
Clean Slate by smc_27. E, 25k. “Henry.” Pez comes over, puts both hands on Henry’s cheeks and looks him dead in the eye. “You are not a sad man who’s gotten dumped. You’re in the prime of your life, and I quite desperately need you to act like it.”
“The prime of my life,” Henry scoffs, more incredulous than questioning. “I’ve just gotten out of a 15 year relationship, endured a divorce, am suffering an almost impressive case of writer’s block, and your hands are like bloody icicles.” Pez grins, doesn’t take his hands away. “Explain to me how this is my prime. Please.”
Pez tilts his head, and sounds entirely serious when he says, “Literally anything can happen from here.”
In Accord by @absoluteaudacitywrites. E, 27k. Pursuant to the establishment of an ongoing relationship between The Crown and the Office of the President of the United States, the representatives of the The Queen and Her interests are authorised to establish a contract of marriage between His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales and Alexander Claremont-Diaz.
Claremont 2008 by @happinessofthepursuit. M, 28k. What if Ellen Claremont had gotten elected in 2008 instead of Obama? An alternate timeline story of FirstPrince.
2009 at Buckingham Palace for tea. A sleepover after a quinceañera in 2010. The 2012 London Olympics. A 2014 Model UN Conference. A funeral in 2015. College and another campaign trail.

By All Means, Rome by @iboatedhere. T, 29k. During a goodwill tour of Europe, Prince Henry rebels against his tedious schedule and disappears into the heart of Rome, seeking reprieve from a life of relentless royal obligations...
Alex Claremont-Diaz, an American journalist living in Rome with a British Monarchy-sized chip on his shoulder, stumbles upon a young man…
Each man keeps a secret to benefit themselves, not thinking how it would affect the other until love gets in the way.
seven fallen angels in atonemеnt by riversdeep. E, 31k. Bea takes the diary from him and snaps it shut. "Well, love, that's because I'm meeting Alex. We'll be at the studio in an hour, so if you're coming with, you should probably wear some nicer trousers."
Henry looks down at his shorts. He thinks they belonged to Pez at one point since they have the words juicy written over the arse in fancy script. "That," He says, "Is completely beside the point."
She shrugs, "Alright. If you want to see the man you've crushed on for two years in those shorts, be my guest."
Well. That only covers part of the problem. The part where Alex infuriates him, that he has to put in an unreasonable amount of effort not to drop things around him because of how beautiful he is. That he is, admittedly, a little bit in love with him.
Or, Alex is a singer collaborating with Bea and Henry is dragged along for the ride, much to his reluctant delight.
would you be my love, my love? (would you be mine?) by ohprongs. M, 32k. When Henry Fox’s fourth series as a professional dancer on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing rolls around, he’s got a good feeling. He knows what he’s doing — he’s a two-time semi-finalist — and this year he wants to win. That is, until he’s knocked off-kilter by two revelations: they’re allowing same gender contestant/pro pairings for the first time in the show’s history, and Alex Claremont-Díaz is joining as the newest pro dancer.
He is, to put it mildly, absolutely screwed.

Or, a Camboy!Alex AU
A Cloud on Fire Makes its Own Rain by foux_dogue. M, 40k. Henry ends his relationship with Alex in Texas at twenty-one years old.
At forty, Alex's heartbreak is just another relic from the past that he left behind. He's made a name for himself, steadily dismantling the system that never truly welcomed him from the foxhole of a critically-acclaimed late night news show. He's not living his happily-ever-after, maybe, but he's doing work that matters, and he's content with what he's got.
At forty-one, Henry finally decides to abdicate. There's only one person who he trusts to break the story.

“ALEX CLAREMONT-DIAZ TAKES ON EUROPE!
America’s darling, ACD, is setting off on his first international tour of Europe and The UK next month. His first stop is in London at the sold out O2 arena.”
Alex is a singer. Henry is a podcast host. They should know that secret relationships don’t usually pan out, but they’re willing to give it a try.
What could possibly go wrong?
(Strangers to friends to besties to lovers)
It's Nice to Have a Friend by mainstreamelectricalparade. T, 59k. Two boys meet on a beach, build a sand castle, write letters, and fall in love.
Someday We'll Know If Love Can Move a Mountain by @three-drink-amy. E, 60k. The emails were never leaked, but the Queen has forced Alex and Henry apart. Alex believes they're biding their time until they can be together for real. One day at work, he's forced to confront how wrong he is when Henry's engagement is announced. With both of them miserable and neither wanting the wedding to happen, they grapple with how or if they could even stop it. Or even if they should.
False Dichotomy by chamel. E, 61k. One of the world’s largest retailers is opening a store on his street. A bookstore. He looks down at the article in his hand again and catches sight of a phrase: “We hope that people will see this as more than a bookstore, and hope to foster a sense of community.” As if Henry Fox-Mountchristen has any concept of what community means.
Alex very narrowly does not break something.
(When global mega-retailer Mountchristen opens a new location—led by the infuriatingly attractive and insufferable Henry Fox-Mountchristen—near his LGBTQ-focused bookshop in Soho, Alex's comfortable life is turned upsided down. Luckily, he has one of his best friends to turn to: a guy he met online and knows only as H. Meanwhile, Henry is battling against his family to make a positive difference in the world and falling further in love with a man he's never met. But... what if they changed that?
(make me) misbehave by @onward--upward. E, 65k. Alex Claremont-Diaz has done it again. The Texas-born singer-songwriter released his fourth studio album second skin Thursday at midnight. Full of Claremont-Diaz’s signature lyricism, critics are praising the album for the cohesive image it paints. second skin is the result of a young writer at the top of his game, and every lyric depicts for the listener a picture of a sun-drenched secret romance. Fans are clamoring to be the first to uncover the mystery girl at the center of it all, although Claremont-Diaz remains tight-lipped on the subject…
Or: Alex Claremont-Diaz is a singer-songwriter rising up in the music industry. Henry Fox is the shining star of an acting empire.
This is a love story.
All our Sweetest Hours Fly Fastest by @ahistoricdistraction. T, 69k. It has been three years since they were outted and Henry and Alex have finally settled into a groove that works well for them, except for the fact that it feels like they're always having to steal time together. Queen Mary constantly coming up with excuses to get Henry out of public events with Alex isn't helping, and Alex is done with it. After a long conference in Tokyo that Henry couldn't attend, Alex's flight home being delayed is the last straw and he calls Henry to say they need to figure out a better way to do this, to which Henry agrees. But fate has other ideas. Alex's flight goes missing somewhere over the Pacific, no trace of it to be found, leaving Henry and Alex's family struggling to not lose hope while unable to do anything.
Such a Burden, This Flame on My Chest by allmylovesatonce. E, 76k. Alex Claremont-Diaz is relocating back to Austin to join his dad's firehouse. His days as a firefighter in Washington D.C. ended badly, but no one knows that, or knows why. And he plans to keep that close to his chest. He has to shove it back down if he wants to seem like a normal person, if he wants to do the job, if he wants to get along with his new crew, and most of all, if he wants to get to know the hot British firefighter on the squad.
No one can know what really happened.
It takes a lot to know a man by dazedandconfused. E, 86k. Alex is doing good. Life is good. Work is good. There's just one tiny problem. He can't get out of his head enough to enjoy sex. Nora has a solution in the form of a not-quite-sex-club called Sweet Encounters where he meets Henry, an attentive dom who shows him the joys of BDSM and sex with a man.
Alex gets a new problem when he starts falling for the man, and it turns out Henry might know more about the case Alex is working on than he lets on.
And then it all stacks up from there.
Heavy Weighs the Crown series by @dwell-the-brave. M, 88k. “I’ll be back by Thursday,” Philip promises, giving Martha a hand up the jet’s steps. She gives them a brief wave from the top of the stairs before disappearing.
“Make sure you don’t ski off a cliff!” Bea calls after him as he follows his wife into the jet. He waves a hand dismissively at her and then withdraws into the darkness of the cabin.
That’s the last thing any of them say to him.
Philip dies, and Henry becomes heir.
Something Borrowed, Something Blue by anincompletelist. E, 116k. When June gets engaged, Alex, her brother, and Henry, her best friend, are asked to be the official Guys Of Honor. There’s a month to plan the whole thing, which would be near impossible anyway, only made worse by the fact that being around each other the last several years has only ever led to petty fights and useless competition. Unfortunately, as the two most important men in her life - aside from her fiancé - they don’t really have much of a choice.
Alex has a lot of feelings about this. As it turns out, Henry does too.
Trust Your Heart If The Seas Catch Fire by Light_of_Bane. E, 171k.
Alex had a plan.
And then his life got thrown upside down after finding out President Claremont is his mother.
Now his plan is shot to hell and he's stuck navigating a world he never expected to be in - one of privilege and the spotlight and a family that's far cry from the abusive one he had grown up with. How's he supposed to do this?
And why is Prince Henry so much prettier in person?
This was not the plan.

"Mama, wanna watch movie." Chaeyoung leaned over in her seat and laid her head down in Momo's lap. She used her best puppy dog eyes on the older girl. Momo tried not to look down, but it was just too hard to resist a little Chaeng in her lap. Momo sighed and nodded. She pulled her iPad out of her backpack and pulled up Disney+.
"If you watch a movie now, then no iPad when we get to the hotel, okay? Straight to bath and then bed." Momo held her tablet above Chaeyoung who huffed but nodded, holding her hands out.
Once Chaeyoung leaned back in her seat to pick a movie, Sana pulled a headphone out, turning to look at Momo.
"What's that look for?" Momo squinted her eyes a bit, knowing fully well why Sana was looking at her like she had just made a huge mistake.
"You know that giving them your iPad was a terrible choice, right?" Mina chimed in from her seat beside Jeongyeon. She paused the YouTube video she was watching and Momo just playfully rolled her eyes.
"What was I supposed to do? If I didn't give her my iPad, then she was just going to keep looking at me like that. You two can't say no to that face either!"
Sana just sighed and shook her head, putting her headphone back in. "You're dealing with this if they get out of control."
//
Chaeyoung held Momo's iPad in her lap, scrolling through all the movies on Disney+. She had seen most of them at least twice, but there were a few she always went back to no matter how many there were she hadn't seen.
Dahyun and Tzuyu leaned against Chaeyoung's shoulders and watched as Chaeyoung endlessly scrolled. There were a few movies they each liked, but they knew that Chaeyoung wouldn't want to pick the ones they wanted.
"Doggies! Doggies!" Tzuyu got excited and pointed to 101 Dalmatians, but Chaeyoung just shook her head and scrolled past it.
"We watched dat yesterday, Tzu."
Tzuyu pouted and crossed her arms over her chest. Just because they watched it yesterday, that didn't mean they couldn't watch it again today.
"Oooh Pooh!" Dahyun excitedly pointed out The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, but Chaeyoung shook her head again and continued her search.
"No. Pooh too boring."
Dahyun just glared at her little sister and groaned. "You never wanna watch what we wanna watch, Chaeng."
Chaeyoung just shrugged her shoulders in indifference. After a few more rows of movies, she finally picked one she knew she'd never get tired of watching. "Cindewella!" She excitedly shouted the name out and bounced a little in her seat.
Dahyun and Tzuyu looked at each other and shook their heads. They had seen Cinderella with Chaeyoung and without her at least a bajillion times. They liked the movie enough, but with the amount of times they'd each seen it, it had gotten boring. There were so many more movies that were so much more fun!
//
Tzuyu only watched Cinderella for about five minutes before she got tired of it. She tried to exit out of the movie to try and force Chaeyoung to watch something else, but this only frustrated her older sister.
"No, Tzu! Wanna watch Cindewella!" Chaeyoung pulled the iPad away from Tzuyu, turning so her back was facing the youngest. Dahyun frowned at the action and tried to pull the iPad out of Chaeyoung's hand.
"Ya! You have to share!" Dahyun tugged at the iPad, accidentally changing the language to French from how she was grabbing it.
"Hyun! Stop!" Chaeyoung was more than frustrated now. She just wanted to watch her movie, but now she couldn't even understand what they were saying and she didn't know how to change the settings.
"Don' wanna watch!" Tzuyu started to pull on Chaeyoung's shirt, trying to get the older girl to turn around. She didn't even care about what movie they watched at this point as long as it wasn't Cinderella. She had seen it too many times and she was tired of Chaeyoung always picking the movies they watched.
//
Most of the girls had fallen asleep. The ride to the hotel was fairly long so they had more than enough time to catch up on sleep.
Mina, Sana, and Momo were fast asleep. They were enjoying the rare time to rest and relax before they had to get ready for the concert tomorrow.
As soon as the littles started to argue, Sana's eyes shot open. She pulled one of her headphones out and groaned. She threw her head against the back of her seat and rubbed her eyes. She did not want to be dealing with this right now. Especially not by herself.
"Ya you gotta deal with them." Sana smacked Momo on the arm a few times, successfully waking the older girl up. Momo groaned and opened one eye. She didn't know what Sana was talking about until she heard Chaeyoung's all too familiar whines.
"Why do I have to deal with them?" Momo rubbed her hands over her face and sat up a bit.
"You're the one who gave them the iPad in the first place!" Sana laughed in disbelief as she turned her body towards Momo. At this, Momo just gave her a guilty smile.
"Oh. Right." Momo sighed and threw her blanket off. She got up and stood beside Dahyun's seat. The three littles were too invested in arguing with each other that they didn't even realize that Momo had gotten up.
"I wanna watch Cindewella!" Chaeyoung was full on yelling at this point and Momo was afraid it was going to wake the rest of the sleeping members up or at least annoy the crap out of them.
"No! Tzu doesn't want to and we-"
"Ya! Why are you three yelling? I didn't give you the iPad just so you could fight over it."
They finally noticed Momo standing over them, three heads turning to look at their mama all at once. There was perfectly beautiful silence for about five seconds until all three of them decided to start talking all at once.
"What-hold on. I can't understand a single thing any of you are trying to tell me." Momo sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. She was in no way equipped to deal with three screaming littles, especially not when she had just woken up.
//
Sana turned around once they all started talking over each other and rolled her eyes. She got up and stood beside Momo, her hands on her hips. Her usually sweet and happy face was extremely annoyed.
"Hey! Please. One at a time. We can't figure out what's going on unless you go one at a time."
Dahyun grumbled but stopped talking. She crossed her arms and just pointed to Chaeyoung and then the iPad. Chaeyoung wasn't much help either as she just mocked what Dahyun was doing. Tzuyu... well, Tzuyu was just pouting. She turned so her face was against the window, eyes closed as she mumbled to herself.
"Okay, one at a time doesn't mean saying nothing. Chaengie did you share the iPad?" Sana sighed, trying a lighter approach to see if they would respond any better, but this just caused them to all start talking again even louder.
At this point, most of the bus was woken up, including Mina. The littles we well as Momo and Sana didn't notice as Mina sat up, turning to the noise that had drawn her away from her peaceful sleep. She stretched and got up, taking her headphones out before setting everything on her seat.
By the time the littles had finally gone quiet, Momo and Sana thought they had just gotten tired of talking over each other. They turned and high-fived each other, immediately jumping once they saw Mina standing behind them. The look the girl had on her face was far from pleasant as she stood there, arms crossed.
"You three. One, you're going to give me the iPad." Mina held her hand out and Chaeyoung gave it to Mina with a slightly shaky hand. "Two, you're going to stop arguing and apologize to each other and the rest of the bus." Mina waited until they said sorry to each other and everyone else. "Three, you're going to sit away from each other. No phones, no iPads, nothing. You're going to sit there and think about the commotion you just caused until we get to the hotel. Once we get to the hotel, you're taking a bath and going straight to bed. Understand?"
It wasn't often that Mina got upset, but when she did, it was scary. She didn't raise her voice, but her tone was so stern and commanding that it even struck fear into Sana and Momo who silently stood beside each other.
The littles grumbled but didn't dare do or say anything as they sat far away from each other. Dahyun sat at the front of the bus, Chaeyoung in the middle, and Tzuyu in the back beside Jeongyeon who had somehow stayed asleep through it all.
//
Once peace had been restored and the littles were in timeout, the three caregivers sat back down. Sana leaned over to Momo and whispered, "Remind me to never make Mina mad."
Momo just looked at Sana and nodded in agreement. Although she was scary, they couldn't deny that she got the job done. By the time the bus made it to the hotel, the littles had apologized to each other again and were happy enough to take a bath and go to sleep.
Too exhausted to continue their fighting at the hotel — too scared of Mina getting angry again as well — they all ended up wrapped up in each other, somehow squeezed into one bed.

"Revenge of the Janitor and Maid" a hospitality story
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There stood Mike at my door, nervously at first, then slowly inflating  amidst  his ungoverned posse comitatus (always hallways, and this time full of shams),  in his best “break your kneecaps” performance --  and also mercurially like Dickens, who’d  decided  to throw  Tiny Tim a three-hour-bone-window -- before Tim or ME, could use said window for my own auto-defenestration.
Get-shit-and-leave, was the command, bellicose from  recollected cop shows, or neighborhood escapades -- this  shit was keeping him from some TV.
Tumblr media
However unwieldy Mike the Janitor’s authoritarian impersonation (no doubt, the inequity of his having witnessed it from the big-end of the telescope), the authority he lacked,  he now wielded,  previously hacked, in a very  ‘special circumstances’  supplementary determination only by Hizhonor’s erudite discretion -- ‘special’ being synonymous HERE with this NO WRIT, NO ORDER, NO COURT EVICTION, NO WARNING, NO CAUSE, NO COURT OPEN, NO LEGAL WAY TO EVICT DURING A PRESIDENTIAL EVICTION MORATORIUM WHICH SOMEHOW THE COP HAD NO CLUE OR CARE ABOUT   eviction,  displacement,  seizing, COMMANDEERING, of and  from this PAID IN FULL IN ADVANCE, NEVER LATE, RESIDENTIAL STATUS 10-MONTH TENANCY DWELLING property or person dwelling in said property, or  affecting process, AND ALL WITHOUT  authority, also LOOTED, by  falsely commandeering such authority to the benefit of the unlawful action; and by way of utilizing an official  party, under whose dominion  the correct application of legal court-ordered process might be deemed lawful and credible, and   under whose false pretenses in commission of said action, and during “Emergency Act" to the constitution had been recognized, in which these actions considered hazardous or forbidden if carried out, and unlawful (under  CDC State of Emergency, Eviction Moratorium), enacted in order to help combat the spread of COVID-19 from enforced homelessness, due to the close quarters of shelters, of which evictions would multiply ...
Tumblr media
But, no matter,  this action had been autonomously  carried out on Christmas, no manager on duty, and, as if all of this were not incredible enough ...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was illegally evicted  BY THEIR  JANITOR -- but slyly under the direction of the 25-year General Manager of this formerly “Best Western” Richmond Inn & Suites --  from desuetude, which is their business, by venerable 80-year, until O. Harrison Smith’s recent passing, now, straight from middle-aged  Cotillion wedlock, a dyed-in-the-ivy, co-blueblood member of  Shreveport’s elite Socialite daughters and sons, whose nuptials, as  antediluvian as a Tennessee Williams Play, this was their troth, plopped down in  ever-so-sartorial, Old Folks at Home, Stephen Foster-loving, Matin Luther King, Jr., eschewing sooo Southern it made this southerner sick, Social Section of  Shreveport's newspaper, this betrothal, bought and paid for, 100 times over (Harrison is one of the most notably generous givers to that dowager lovingly scraping by called the Met Opera), by Daddy Harrison Smith, devoted benefactor, artsy type cat - which I like, and seemingly, stand-up, self-made -- as opposed to his one, of four, disappointing scion, snag-toothed unmarriageable, Frat / Yuppie / Country Club Shreveporter --  President, only posthumously upon assuming by inheritance, overseer of  family biz, SMC Hotels Group, Shreveport, which  his esteemed  daddy ran until his death, when he called in late, until last year.

AND also, very recently elected  benign President / Figurehead (unofficial) President of the  more pretense and booze than Hotels and Rules  -- (re)movers and (palsy) shakers' Good Ol’ Boy Lodge, called Louisiana Hotels and Lodging Association (whose updated site needs  Deltoid’s first order of business --  promotion from Director to President), which lists him as:

and a duped member of the BRPD, whose color he also shared, with the other maid in the posse, and whose ignorance or willful indifference to this blatantly racist, unlawful, wanton travesty, it was  occurring on his invoked authority, therefor by the authority of his Police Department.
{me) a paid in full,  10-month resident hotel guest of  Richmond Inn & Suites, Baton Rouge, LA, Energy St., 70808  Corporate Blvd. Business Community,

With last-minute scrambling for transportation from  my mother,  whose health he recklessly compromised (this sub-managerial, self-professed Marshall representing SMC Hotel Group --  and ultimately Wyndham Hotel's ownership) obtained for GM Trudi Veals, my eviction:  a happy ending to her story acquired. smchotels.com

Chicago, 1914:
Chicago’s Germans held huge rallies as the fighting began. The corner of Clybourn and North Avenue in the heart of the North Side German community, the city’s largest and most compact, saw crowds gather to discuss the fighting. German Americans decked out their homes with German flags. The Illinois Staats-Zeitung called for a rally at the North Side Turner Hall to raise money for Germany’s fallen heroes, and German reservists soon marched down neighborhood streets. By August 3 some seven hundred reservists clogged the ninth floor offices of the German Consulate in the People’s Gas Building volunteering to fight for their fatherland. On August 5, Germans held a huge rally at the Auditorium Theater and raised sizeable funds for war relief, while also criticizing the English-language press and vowing support for Germany and Austria. Five thousand protestors took to the street to assert themselves at the offices of Chicago’s major dailies and sing “The Watch on the Rhine.” That night, a pro-German crowd gathered in Grant Park. No Chicago ethnic group had ever displayed such an outpouring of nationalist enthusiasm for their homeland. Business leaders, such as brewer Charles Wacker and meatpacker Oscar F. Meyer, helped raise money for the German Red Cross. Meanwhile, German American organizations berated the Slavic countries, many of which were subject to German and Austrian rule. The war had broken out between Austria and Serbia, but the Germania Club insisted that the fighting was between Teuton and Slav, calling Germany’s neighbors the natural “serf ” races of Europe. Irish nationalists saw the war as an opportunity to gain Ireland’s independence form Great Britain. The August 2 rally at Emmett Hall on the corner of Ogden and Taylor on the West Side recruited one thousand Irishmen to prepare to fight England in two regiments and a medical corps, which would wait for Dublin’s “call of help.” In mid-August, Chicago’s Germans and Irish held a combined picnic and listened to nationalistic speakers harangue the British.
The conflict even spilled over to Chicago’s playgrounds and to its premier cultural institution, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. On September 2, 1914, Mrs. Ella Flagg, superintendent of Chicago schools, issued an order to stop the fighting among children of warring nationalities on Chicago’s school playgrounds. Strife rocked the Chicago Symphony Orchestra when musicians began to argue over the war. In an effort to appear neutral, the conductor scheduled several nationalist songs for a mid-August concert at Ravinia. Germans made up the majority of orchestra members, but their French, Belgian, and Russian associates erupted over the thought of playing “The Watch on the Rhine.” German musicians played sour notes during the playing of the French anthem “Le Marseillaise,” and a free-for-all among these representatives of high culture almost broke out at Ravinia. The members eventually agreed to not play any patriotic songs for the duration of the war.
Shanghai, 1914:
Shanghai’s credo was cosmopolitanism, and it was performed all the year round. The city’s foreign communities liked nothing better than an excuse for celebration, preferably decorated with the ‘Flags! Flags! Flags!’ of ‘all Nationalities’, as advertised by the Santow Yoko store on Boone Road. Even as they sweltered that summer, they were toasting each other and showing off as usual when they marked Independence and Bastille days, and the birthdays of the King and the Japanese emperor. Naval ships were dressed, launched fireworks, and landed men to march and salute. Foreign residents paraded in uniform as members of the Shanghai Volunteer Corps (SVC), and the town band, led by its fine German conductor, Rudolf Buck, played the necessary national hymns and anthems.
On 4 July the Americans had opened up the consulate for Independence Day, with a reception at the Astor House Hotel, and all Shanghai drank to their liberty. Threading its way through the heat ten days later came the French community, led by the Volunteers carrying lanterns, marching behind Buck’s musicians and a Tricolore-decorated tram car. At the French consulate and at the elite Shanghai Club it was open house, and the day swam past in toasts of mutual regard. Shanghailanders, as foreign residents called themselves, had nothing but admiration for each other’s monarchs and republics, and they pledged friendship and solidarity under the watchful eyes of the crowds of Chinese who lined the streets to watch the parades and the lights. On Bastille Day many of these found themselves learning that the French concession was being extended westward to include their homes. For masked by all this affable cosmopolitanism, and underpinning all of Shanghai’s foreign communities, was the practice of empire, of land grabs neatly agreed in treaties, and backed up by warships, garrisons and those marching volunteers.
While the recent anniversary of the 1904 Anglo-French entente was much remarked on in July, Frenchmen and Britons remained wary of each other, and closer and easier relations had long been forged locally between Britons and Germans. They were firm partners in the great Shanghai enterprise. In January Briton Edward Pearce, chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Council (SMC), had inspected a parade of Germans marking the Kaiser’s birthday with a torchlight march. Led by the Mounted Sikhs of the council’s police force, and following the band, the SVC German Company marched to the steps of the Club Concordia, the riverside heart of the German community. They were followed by their fellow nationals and ‘their friends of other nationalities’, and then by marines from the cruiser SMS Emden, and a gunboat, SMS Otter. Pearce was lavish in his praise: the ‘motto in Shanghai was “Omnia Juncta In Uno”’, he proclaimed, ‘which meant that as they were together collectively, so they all had to pull together’. He was proud that his council could call on the German volunteers, ‘who after all were German soldiers, who knew their business and who knew the game’. He was ‘more proud than he could say’. All present cried three cheers for the German company, and as they were dismissed the men threw their torches onto a great bonfire on the foreshore.
The outbreak of war did inconvenience the Shanghailanders, but they tried to hold things together. On August 4, 1914, the North China Daily News called for friendliness between the nationalities:
Shanghai, as we are often reminded, is a cosmopolitan place, where, in spite of occasional causes of ill-feeling elsewhere, many nationalities contrive to dwell together in a very friendly spirit. In the days that are coming it is to be feared that this friendliness will be tested as it has never been before.
The North China Herald, on August 29, 1914:
‘Here we are, and all of us wish to remain, after the war is over,’ wrote one of the enemies, in impeccable English, to the paper in late August. Beware of those ‘wildest rumours’ that were sweeping the port, and their impact on ‘our “hosts” here’ – the Chinese, he meant. Briton and German were and would be ‘dependent on each other’ to preserve their camaraderie and their Shanghai foothold against the manoeuvres of their ‘hosts’.
Robert Bickers:
After all, the China British did not want war, or if they must have it, they did not want it in their backyard. Again and again came variations on the same refrain: the war must be confined, it could not possibly be allowed to dissolve relationships out here; the Shanghai, or Tianjin, or Hankou Germans or Austrians were a good lot; they were partners, colleagues, friends. ‘This war is a terrible business,’ wrote Sir Francis Aglen, Peking-based Inspector General of the Chinese Maritime Customs, to his German subordinate A. Heinrich Wilzer, who was commissioner at Qingdao.
‘It is a thousand pities it could not be confined to Europe but must invade the Far East where our countries have so many mutual interests and where we English have so many German personal friends.’
Japan had declared war on Germany on 23 August, and since then had been preparing its forces to land in Shandong and capture the German leased territory, in which Qingdao was the key prize. Aglen offered to accommodate Wilzer’s wife and children when they shipped out of the soon-to-be besieged port to Peking. ‘Good luck to you,’ he wrote, ‘take care of yourself . . . Keep out of the way of shot and shell and endeavour to maintain the neutrality of the Customs.’
For three years, Germans, Austrians, Britons, Belgians and the French shared the Shanghai settlement, and China remained neutral. They remained personal friends with their national enemies. Of course, not even neutral Shanghai could deny Europeans their patriotism:
What should Shanghai people do? For some there was no option. Law required that they rejoin the colours: the German consul general issued its mobilisation order that same baking Saturday [August 1, 1914], so some of Shanghai’s Germans were the first to leave, making their way north to join the garrison at the port of Qingdao, in Germany’s leased territory in Shandong province. Twenty men caught the midday Nanjing express train, followed in the evening by another forty, five of Buck’s musicians among them. Some of the hysterical enthusiasm for the conflict that was starting to sweep Europe edged in. A crowd of 300 men and women assembled at the station, singing ‘Die Wacht am Rhein’, and ‘Deutschland, Deutschland über Alles’.
Zum Rhein, zum Rhein, zum deutschen Rhein, wer will des Stromes Hüter sein?

Ginebra keeps rights to Slaughter as PBA gets group's offer sheet
Tumblr media
BARANGAY Ginebra is keeping the playing rights to malcontented large man Greg Slaughter.
The duplicate of the offer sheet implied the 31-year-old Slaughter, who as of late reported his vacation from ball, will stay with the establishment, which chose him as the no. 1 generally speaking pick during the 2013 PBA draft.
Slaughter prior uncovered Ginebra hasn’t given him an offer sheet not long after his agreement with the Kings terminated before the finish of January.
Under PBA rules, Slaughter would consequently turn into an unlimited free specialist following a month should the Kings neglect to offer him another agreement.
San Miguel Corp. (SMC) sports executive Alfrancis Chua in any case, demanded that there was an offer sheet hanging tight at the group office for Slaughter.
He said Slaughter didn’t try to ask or even ask – including his agent – with respect to the issue.
The absence of an offer sheet from the Kings was accepted to be among the reasons why Slaughter chose to enjoy a reprieve from playing ball.
Simultaneously, he denied having any thought on the supposed exchange encompassing him and NorthPort partner Christian Standhardinger which he posted on his Instagram account when he declared about his choice to take a holiday from playing b-ball.
Mentor Tim Cone, who has been among the supporters of Slaughter at Barangay Ginebra, conceded about the previous Ateneo champion conversing with him in regards to his arrangements to briefly leave b-ball during the group’s post employment survey not long after the Kings won the season-finishing Governors Cup.
In any case, Cone has not uncovered whether he conversed with the board about the issue that could have kept Slaughter from making such intense move.
During the PBA Media Day on Thursday at the Okada Hotel Manila, Cone uncovered that in his discussion with Slaughter, the Fil-Am focus said he’s probably going to sit out at any rate the initial three to four months of the period.
Slaughter traveled to the US right away upon the termination of his past three-year contract.

Gov. Baker Congratulates 15 Statewide Winners of MassEcon Impact Awards
BOSTON – Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker congratulated the 15 MassEcon winners of the Fourteenth Annual Team Massachusetts Economic Impact Awards, telling them, “You have competed in all shapes and sizes and played in all kinds of spaces” in the Commonwealth.
“This is part of the incredible embedded intellectual capital of the Commonwealth from one end to the other,” Baker said, addressing a record MassEcon Impact Awards crowd of more than 350 people at a luncheon at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel.
It was Baker’s third appearance at the annual event. “I really enjoy hearing about what is going on at companies honored by MassEcon,” Baker said, adding that he had visited about half of the winning companies and Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Jay Ash had probably toured headquarters of the other half.
Ash joined winners and MassEcon members at a reception before the lunch, which was emceed by WBZ-TV News Anchor Lisa Hughes.

Gov. Baker
Together this year’s winners have added almost 1,000 jobs to the Commonwealth, invested over $381 million, and expanded their facilities by more than 2 million square feet since January 2016.
Winners in each of five regions of the Commonwealth were selected in Gold, Silver, and Bronze categories, the Gold awards going to ThermoFisher Scientific in Waltham for Greater Boston; Cumberland Farms in Westborough for the Central Region; U.S. Tsubaki in Chicopee for the West Region; Kronos in Lowell for the Northeast Region; and Cold Chain Technologies in Franklin for the Southeast Region.
The winners “represent the backbone of the economy – both local and for export – that Massachusetts has become,” said Brian Cohen, Chair of the MassEcon Board of Directors.
Girard Sargent, President of Citizens Bank Massachusetts, which was a lead sponsor of the event, introduced Baker, commending his regional approach. “We have leadership in New England that is functioning,” Sargent said. “We thank him for investing in the workforce here in the Commonwealth and being a terrific collaborator.”
Christopher Todd, Senior Vice President of Operations and Chief Services Officer for Kronos, accepted the award for his company, which undertook a half-million-square-foot expansion in Lowell and added 200 new jobs. “Great businesses are powered by great people,” he said, noting it is the company’s 10th anniversary.
Cold Chain Technologies, which consolidated three locations with a $10 million expansion, was celebrating its 50th anniversary. Larry Gordon, Chief Executive Officer, said, “We’re both proud and humbled to be the Gold Winner.”
Dan Shine, Senior Vice President and President of the Analytics Instruments Group at ThermoFisher Scientific, noted that the company had its origins at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1956. “We enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer,” he said. The company’s new headquarters in Waltham are certified LEED Silver for sustainability.
Mike Tierney, Vice President of Construction and Planning at Cumberland Farms, which invested $15.5 million and added 300 jobs with a new 100,000-square-foot corporate office in Westborough, thanked the company’s 8,000-plus employees “for your contributions to this great state.” He added, “We provide the bare essentials 24/7/365,” referring to filling the needs of emergency responders at more than 200 locations in Massachusetts alone.
All the winning companies were recognized for making outstanding contributions to the Massachusetts economy. The winners were noted for job growth, investment, facility expansions, and community involvement.
The winning companies come from across the state, range in size, and were drawn from diverse industries, including life sciences, medical devices, information technology, food, footwear, advanced materials, and the automotive industry.

Labor groups hail move to pay workers during quarantine
#PHnews: Labor groups hail move to pay workers during quarantine
MANILA – Labor groups on Thursday lauded the efforts of companies to cushion the effects of the work stoppage due to the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine on their workers and other stakeholders.
Arthur Juego, president of the Kilusan sa Jollibee Foods Corporation-Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (KILUSAN-JFC-TUCP), rank-and-file employees union of the Filipino fast food chain, said the move boosts their morale.
“This will definitely free us from such anxiety and would enable us to tide things over. Thank you Jollibee,” he said in a statement.
JFC is providing PHP1 billion to pay for the one-month salary and 13th month pay to employees unable to work during the quarantine which is aimed at curbing the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the country, the group said, citing an internal memo from the firm.
Meanwhile, Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) president Raymond Mendoza is hoping that other companies would follow suit.
“The move will create a race to the top momentum and raise the reputation of the Jollibee brand to customers and compel other enterprises to do the same good company deed in the light of looming economic adversity for workers,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Associated Labor Unions (ALU) commended SM Supermalls and Robinsons for waiving the rental fees of mall tenants from March 16 to April 14 to enable these micro and small enterprises to pay in advance the salaries and 13th-month pay of their employees.
The group hailed business tycoon Manny Pangilinan for releasing in advance the 13th month pay for employees of PLDT, Smart and Manila Electric Company.
Other companies that released the salaries and 13th month pay of their employees are the Aboitiz Group of Companies, Asian Terminal/Solaire Resort Hotel, JG Summit and Gokongwei Group of Companies, Lucio Tan Group of Companies, and SMC Group of Companies. (PNA)

SRINAGAR: With the dipping mercury in Srinagar valley, there are still some needy people who are shivering in this season. In order to help those people cope with harsh winter, the boundary wall of a gutted hotel on the Bund in the Abi Guzar area of Srinagar has a graffiti, which reads: ‘The wall of Kindness'. The initiative was taken by a group of 33 people associated with a global volunteer organization, ‘Who is Hussain'. The organizers said that their sole motive is to collect warm clothes for the needy. As expected, scores of locals turned up at the place and donated their jackets, coats, suits and mufflers for those in need of warm clothes during the chilly winter. One of the members of the group narrated the story of this concept. He said that this idea has been taken from Turkey, Iran and Paris where people hang their clothes on the roadside for the people in need. He further explained the joy he felt when those in need came and took clothes from the wall. At the mere sight of the wall on the Bund, they initially thought the unused clothes were on sale and enquired about the price. When they were told these clothes were free of cost and that they could pick whatever they wanted, for a second, they were taken aback. With a smile on their face, they proceeded and picked whatever they wanted. “I have not seen such a thing happening around, this is something new and I am really surprised,” said a woman rag-picker who picked a sweater for her daughter. The organizers are appealing to everyone that if they have some unused clothes back home, they can donate for the generous cause. The group has already sought permission from Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) to collect clothes on a wall at six locations in Srinagar city. The group is further planning to set up shoe racks so that people can donate their shoes also. In 2015 Iranians set up "walls of kindness" where people could easily donate coats and other warm clothes for helping the poor. The concept was simple – a few hooks and hangers installed on a coloured wall next to the words: "If you don't need it, leave it. If you need it, take it." Many cities around the world took inspiration from the Iranian Initiative. Read the full article

SMC Clusterf***: Richmond Inn & Suites, Baton Rouge, La. Only Good Ol' Boy Hotel Group in Shreveport -- Hotels for Walmart Corp. -- Could Have Anti-White GM, Trudi Veals, F***-up The 'One-car Funeral' Which Was My 10-month Stay ...UNTIL BLACK JANITOR & COP EVICTED ME CHRISTMAS 2020!
(via Who Kicks Out Hotel Guest During Pandemic? Wyndham Hotels Richmond Inn & Suites GM Trudi Veals Baton Rouge LA, Owner SMC Hotels Group, President Delton Smith, Trademark Collection : mrjyn : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive)
Richmond Inn & Suites, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, 225-924-6500 Front Desk, 24 Hours, Trudi Veals, GM
In retaliation with protection of owners, SMC Hotels Group, Wyndham Hotels Resorts, Trademark Collection, a concerted campaign of Constructive, Self-Help Eviction and Violation of Federal , CDC Eviction Moratorium, 12.27.2020, this commemorates Trudi Veals first extortive influence of former Front Desk Clerk, Faith, her first principal conspirator.
Faith tried what the Janitor did succeed, in temporarily impressing a sullen -- from censure -- Trudi Veals had her  momentum halted by superior,  Senior Vice President of Hotel Holding company, SMC Hotels Group, John Holmstrom, who upon hearing from an ex-employee through me what had been happening, had ordered Veals to fire her Assistant, Faith, but because of Faith's faithful efforts in helping her boss, Trudi’s illegal force-out of long-term tenant (me), Veals refused, with a tbsp of lies, and with that, crossed the line of no-return, forcing, on the morning after, a pall   throughout the employees faces.  And they all blamed me, courtesy of the rumor-mongering Trudi Veals.
Dispatch one employee to preserve stability, assuage a resident offended is necessary business to corporate execs, and if they happen to stop the personally motivated machinations  of an employee like Trudi Veals, which they had no idea existed, then all the better.  Whether it was rabidly disputed, although well-known among her confidants and helpers, they knew she was lying because they’d blown it and given her free reign.
For Trudi, just groom another assistant in the final intimidation -- the same spoiled dinner which put her appetite down -- only whetted it now.
Commission, as agent of Hotel, someone with no authority, who could then be explained away as acting autonomously in whatever foolish, non-procedural lunacies he decided of his own to commit, as  what occurred with the janitor, whom she picked as her favorite, one day after Christmas Holiday Weekend,  standing in my hall among his posse commitatus, all in the presence of a silently nodding BRPD, as if to say to any question I definitely had about the absurdity of this shitshow of authority, “... n da tom perrod'f tree our  firm nah (read in Jamaican patois) ...” officer nodding, there wouldn't be an answer. Just a command by the janitor to vacate, as a paid in full, with no court writ or order or notice to leave, to pack and be gone in three hours during the height of COVID-19 lockdown and Presidential Eviction Moratorium, December 27, 2020 -- 10 months since I had, a tenant in good standing occupied legally the dwelling at Richmond Inn & Suites, Baton Rouge, La.
Flight of Ideas and Magic Thought with a virulent predilection of her fantastical imaginings; her inability to control her trait -- relating as fact, lies of incredible construction, Dalian Hotel Policies of absurdity meant to entertain her during these manic episodes which, if confronted, she would blithely revisit, delighting herself again in her shock at admitting, ‘yes, it was all true,’ --  the grievances at Richmond Inn & Suites  left unaddressed for at least the year I was there were accommodated under the management of Trudi Veals.
Two coequal haints visit themselves upon unsuspecting whitebread rubes causing chaotic dustdevils of indeterminate origin.
What number in a year?
How many in a decade?
Of what percentage in the recent past did she dispense with issues in precisely this manner?
Veals enjoyed (as i would see it perpetrated) the $250 assessment.
A rainbow of dreaming washes over me to see its filthy lucre pour from tablespoons of sugar which Trudi administers herself and stirs in that same Macbeth Witches cauldron, while she is now rendered diabetic, debited of limbs and digits -- payment for criminality which through mawkish tears to a shrill interlocutor, she will respond in her Video Sentencing, as the culmination of a life in hospitality.
Inhospitable. No matter, Judge, nor Virtual Jury, Habeas Corpus Delecti, let him / her / it prevail.
That when HIS HONOR enter through Virtual Gallery his Courtroom, Hizzoner, heard bursting from Bailiff, virtual or corporeal, motions remanding  to house arrest, not withstanding, an ankle device shackles, which she did through counsel plead, too much like slavery its burden, her ankles hurting; unto which, adjudged too late, she fell prostrate, her clangorous show farced, and from request of referent obdurate did the Seersucker clown, whose Public Defense came from her diminution of payment -- she was entitled to her Constitutional Right to an attorney --  provided freely by the court, from the unrefined cowshed, overburdened, he couldn't remember which case was hers again -- from his car, to his watch, to his heels -- and through motions improper to a stickler at home for Kramer Vs. Kramer, but not in this Federal District Court of Appeals, appellate counsel for appellant to Bard of the Bench, his days at Harvard and Oxford and his rise through the ranks, horsehair wigs, robes, bibs and gavels,
Criminal barristers will keep wigs and gowns, as the Lord Chief Justice intends to keep the current court dress in criminal proceedings. The Bar is a single advocacy profession with specialisation in particular practice areas. There is logic in having the same formal court dress, where formality and robes are required, for criminal and civil barristers... There is strong identification of the Bar of England and Wales in the public's mind and its formal dress nationally and internationally.
to Justice whose scales weild equal to the malice practiced by those whose Liberty it steals, the gavel heard in the Barrister’s Vatican, like a Solomonic Revelation brought from  unsealing  those Seven Seals -- no Branch Davidian to waste judgement further,  enthroned, not  by Holy Rood,, but Terrible Swift Sword -- the Word of Law -- and before it ,she ask Mercy, which jurisprudence disinclines, a Judicial Granting on what she was standing, on grounds that she just couldn't stand up much longer,  Honorable man in the robe she did cling to as he floated on issue to his decision, a final declination to a continuance deemed by  court; that, And hereby, on this day, now, Say:
By preponderance of irrefutable evidence and with special circumstance, a verdict of guilty, through choice of Defendant --  wishing no man to judge her, but the eminence through Law Whom Ruleth Equal  All. No Prejudice Nor Fear, did he set down sentence which should end thus: To a term no longer than that which Defendant should be incarcerated, as to  the amount of days and nights in moral turpitude she squandered her victims, he rendered the craven acts with special malice and cruelty of intent, as a mere agent Lessor of Lodgement, an Innkeeper, unlawfully with deprivation in violation of Plaintiff’s Covenant of Peaceful Existence, did she relieve.
And so by Order of the Court, she SHALL serve out her sentence under the overpass where the I-10 ends in a maze of Los Angeles’s Skid Row, in a tent where she be remandered, although not really standard, under the lowermost overhanging awning, in a place of habitation -- already, before her, the I-10 so loud and fumid, where she'd be able to think clearly throughout the ordeal.
Warranty durable, should it of necessity in its fulfillment of determinant, subsection policy of coverage to which no clause, nor likelihood of risk amortization, through those Great Bodies of Bayesian Logic, Probability Statisticians, managed to assess that which boldness demurred, with warning our proclivity of enjoyment, times of danger and lack of inhibition, such courageousness wasted of adrenalized wash, natural narcosis, which we enjoy, compared with our duty to dispatch one-quarter century of pent-up niggling, as visited our frustration, whose credit shall present us who read this, no obloquy which I caused, you hear, as that to same degree, I shall enjoy a fireplace on the side of the transcontinental dedicatory slab to the movement of all our narcotics, this land, from its West to its East, an hyperbolic Woody Guthrie pharma-colonized mixture, which is our land now, and made for you and me.
In the deep, wretched South of my birth, says Barry Hannah -- wretched, but, still howling -- like the dinning rubber meeting road of Mario Andretti on nights you hear high-whining Formulae, its Straightaway Quarters where races are won; cacophonous to God -- to the Devil such an idea of fun -- inner-perturbation become discomfit as in dreaming,  you find yourself lost in its midst, the ringing never respite,  tintinnabulation -- this starts, so you now do, clangorous noise you weren't dreaming, remember the concept of Hearth, warm like home, your stay it may see you through this place, the same way as Religion absolves, guarantees of mortals to Glory and Promise of sinning, wanting you commit  your memory as Gospel, when you from sweating awaken into a sub-tropical destination, at 90 degrees humidity, it's really not the heat, it's the torpidity which require strong one-two punch to cough-up your lunch, from economy of motion lost is gained 90 degrees insight whose side of the Highway is not paved with gold, nor paved with  sound barriers, when looking across, it is seen, the thing which precludes  asking aloud when outside, but which would provide perfect protection from eavesdropping G-Men tailing John Gotti and Sammy the Bull, who loved nothing more than eluding them through Bridge and Tunnel traffic massing upon Little Italy Gravy Joints,  FBI packing in for home; the other side, where I, from my third story watch as you, like the painting by Munch, I cannot hear, but the shape of your mouth is as though you appear, ready to scream.
I know because it happened to me, I, like you, now also deafened by sounds only Eviller ears hear, they abound on both sides of the Slab, I-10, where you hear -- its squeals, through the name of the One, it to you hearkens with dread, and dead cursed squall, its sequel, again, and once more, it screams: Trudi Veals!
You late check-ins may wish her, or beware (by reading) The Curse of Richmond Inn & Suites, a Wyndham Hotels and Last Resort Trademark Collection, or the story of Trudi Veals. She is most simply recognized by her bromidic, counterfeit deficiency of presence, resembling the Executive doubles, who, saved by the Plague and its Social Distancing, indispensable to onerous owners of Inns and Suites which are inhospitable and untenable, and cannot be defended. Though Katrina would finish a Century of Death denied it by five years with interest, and finally restore it through penalty of profiteering, abusive mobs, unlike the present Gallows Humored fable, 'Ring Round the Rosie,' illustrative of Corporate Raiders and bottom-tier Hoteliers, whose review provides, simply through teetering acquisition by newly installed CEO, for reasons illustrated by its janitor, Mike, with two unopposable thumbs, the minimum rating it can receive is 'Two Thumbs Down.' SMC Clusterfuck, only Good Ol' Boy Hotel Investment Group of the Shreveport Country Club, Marina, building Hotels for Sam, over to Alabama, Walmart Corp., right in their back yard, who through anti-white racist tending by a General Manager of one-quarter century employ, Mrs.Trudi Veals, to fuck up the 'one car funeral' which was my brief 10-month stay at his lodge,  Richmond Inn & Suites, a Wyndham Trademark no one wants to steal. But everyone wants to read what really went on in the NEW Hospitality Horror Mystery Novella:  The Curse of Richmond Inn & Suites Repeats - a Trademark Collection John Holmstrom, through what strikes me as sensible,  and intuitive in his initial resistance in support for Trudi Veals -- refusing to authorize her request to evict me over what was transparently fallacious.

Private sector’s Covid-19 response overwhelms Palace
#PHnews: Private sector’s Covid-19 response overwhelms Palace
MANILA – Malacañang on Thursday thanked private firms for helping the government in bolstering its fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
In a press statement, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said the Palace was elated by the private sector’s significant contributions to the ongoing efforts to stop the further spread of Covid-19.
“Given that the Palace considers this current situation as a time for solidarity, it also appreciates most of these companies for stepping up to the challenge through their significant donations to various entities which are at the front of this battle,” Panelo said.
The Philippines now has 202 Covid-19 cases, with 17 deaths and seven recoveries.
To prevent further transmission, President Rodrigo Duterte imposed an enhanced quarantine community in Luzon until April 12. This means people from Luzon are required to stay at home and limit movements to accessing basic necessities.
Panelo noted that Metrobank and GT Capital Holdings Group pledged to give the government around PHP200 million for the production of more coronavirus test kits, while Dennis Uy's Udenna Corp. vowed to deliver 1,000 diagnostic kits to the Department of Health (DOH).
He added that Andrew Tan and the Alliance Global Group promised to give 1 million liters of ethyl alcohol to the DOH and other government enforcement agencies, while the Belo Medical Group pledged to donate the remaining stocks of its clinic’s personal protective equipment to hospitals and health centers.
Panelo also acknowledged that Ceres, HM Transit, San Agustin, MetroExpress, RRCG, Precious Grace, Jac Liner, St. Rose, and automotive company Foton, as well as Avis Philippines, Westcapboa, West Cavite Philippine Bus Operators Association, and Jasper Jean for offering free shuttle services for health workers and other exempted persons.
He likewise thanked some big business firms that heeded the government’s appeal to provide their workers and employees their respective salaries and benefits during the month-long enhanced community quarantine in Luzon without charging them against their leave credits.
He said among those business entities are Aboitiz Group of Companies, Asian/Terminal Hotel, Ayala Group of Companies, JG Summit/Gokongwei Group of Companies, Jollibee Group of Companies, Lucio Tan Group of Companies, Manuel V. Pangilinan Group of Companies, SMC Group of Companies and SM Group of Companies.
“There are also those companies which would do their share in alleviating and responding to the needs of the daily wage earners and regular employees but would not want to identify themselves and will do it discreetly. To them our commendation,” Panelo said.
Panelo said Filipinos’ “indomitable” spirit has prevailed over national calamities and adversities.
He expressed hope that other businesses will follow suit within their means.
“The Palace is aware that there are more companies and persons offering their resources and services to help contain the spread of Covid-19 and they too deserve kudos for such selfless acts,” Panelo said.
Panelo also reiterated that the government was thankful for the health care and service providers, law enforcement agents, and other people on the frontline of the country's battle against Covid-19.
“Their sacrifices during this period are invaluable, and the services they are tirelessly rendering for the nation will forever be remembered. The Office of the President will continue rallying behind – and giving the necessary support in favor of – these heroic men and women until we defeat this pandemic,” he said.
Panelo also called for unity during the coronavirus crisis, stressing that it is the only way to stop the further spread of Covid-19.
Amid the country’s fight against Covid-19, Panelo told Filipinos anew to follow the government’s precautionary measures to ensure the successful prevention of the infectious disease.
“As for our countrymen who remain at home and faithfully follow the protocols set by the government, your patience and obedience are equally appreciated as the same are the keys to the successful containment and eradication of Covid-19 in the Philippines,” Panelo said. (PNA)
