I renovated this house for the Singles househousehold in my Uberhood, I gave it a modern airy feel and loved how it turned out.  I did this last year back when I was playing with very minimal CC so this house is basically CC free.  I don’t have a download link cause I didn’t want to go through the trouble of using mods to make it safe.  Hope you guys watch and enjoy!

StrangeSpot, Round Thirteen: Vu

Tired of corporate restrictions shooting her projects down, Crystal quits her job as an architect. Those shills could never understand the genius of her concept for invisible skyscrapers! She tells Finn all about what could have been. He files it away to think about when he grows up.

Scot teaches Finn most of his skills (Crystal teaches him to talk - science jargon in particular) and thinks he’s going to be a great kid. He’s also loving being a high school teacher. Strangetown has such great young minds to foster!

           Olive was staring at him. She was looking right inside him. He almost started to panic. If she could see inside of him she would see what was inside of him and she would know. If she knew then it would be just as bad as telling her himself.

           Olive shook her head. She looked angry - but not at him. He knew what it looked like when someone was angry with him. "My sweet, sweet Baldr. They've got you all tangled up inside, don't they? I'm not sure I can fix you myself. But I don't have to, do I?" She lifted a bowl from the floor and set it in his lap. "Now, be a good child and eat your soup. It's good for you."

           "I have to go home," Nervous said. He tried to keep his voice calm. You couldn't let people know about the things inside of you. You couldn't tell them about the lab. That was against the rules.

           "You are home," Olive said. Her voice was gentle, but insistent. It would have been easier to argue with a wall. "Eat your soup."

           He ate his soup. It was delicious.

           Olive made phone call while he ate. Nervous couldn’t hear a word, but it looked like she was arguing with whoever it was on the other end.

           But she was glowing with triumph when she hung up. "He knows not to leave a debt unpaid, doesn't he? Even that one's got to pay what he owes.” She settled on the edge of her armchair. “He's got an interest in you, and I know it. He never could fool me."

Scenes from 1930s Strangetown

Aka almost nothing happens except for some chaos, and makeovers!

Pretty much everything is mid it’s 30s makeover so there are some jarring backgrounds but I no longer care cause if I only uploaded shots with everything done it would happen approximately once a millennium.

First off the Curiouses: Pascal has a baby daughter named Andromeda. 

Vidcund Curious, whom to this point I always thought was called Vicund. I like the professor vibe of his makeover.

Vidcund: Hmmn perhaps this young fellow may vibe with Nervous.

Nervous:

Pre makeover Lazlo, why? Why would you do this to your family that hates Loki probably for good reasons. Also why is Lazlo working in science when according to his bio he’s more of a pseudo-science guy? Also Also I know 2000 or whatever year sims 2 was made was a different time but phrenology? erh……………………………………….

Loki does look similar to Vidcund huh

A terrible picture of post makeover Lazlo. I think he would be one of those people who you can tell are really trying to dress cooler than they are.

Lazlo: How awesome is music amirite? Loki: Yeah I guess.

Lazlo: Oh I suddenly find this conversation uninteresting.

Abruptly switching to the Singles now, here we see the full glory of unfinished backgrounds.

This pretty townie shows up everywhere so I gave him a 30s-esque (emphasis on esque) makeover.

Interesting. This will be filed away for later.

The welcome wagon consists of possibly the two least welcoming people in the neighbourhood: Nervous and my sim Dieter, based on one of my Mum’s old sims 1 sims. I could not find a picture of that sims’s head online so I had to go by memory, I wonder if anyone could recognise which one it is.

Dieter’s arc in the original gameplay kinda went from angsty to just grumpy, (via being murdered by his sister and then remade. I’m telling you she straight up killed him, she started a fight with him and then he disappeared! He was gone from existence, he was more than dead, he was an unperson).

I won’t say he deserved it but it didn’t come out of nowhere.

Lola is upset that she was rejected for a kiss by Erin. Not pictured: that scene.

Then Nervous attacks Erin, which I can see makes sense to him: Loki mistreats him, she is Loki’s sister and is not in control of Nervous so therefore easier to target his anger towards.

Things don’t go well for him though. Erin looks to have the fighting style of completely flailing and winging it but that just makes it more terrifying.

Then this happens and I have no idea why.

New townie looks cool. Too cool even, he should befriend Lazlo.

Dieter and Nervous decide there haven’t been enough fights today. (I would really really love a shoe swap on Dieter’s outfit). 

Meanwhile these two are off being cute.

Lola is cute too.

....

One more fight later and I’m off to somewhere more serene.

30′s Strangetown - the misadventures of Nervous

Playing sims again after a long time, my aim is set Pleasantview in the 18th century, Strangetown in the 1930s (vaguely/as much as possible) I don’t care about Veronaville, maybe the apartment life one will be 1890s, and have a fantasy custom hood. Anyway I got bored just doing the makeovers and started playing the Bakers, Beakers? I think its Bakers. That’s why their weird castle house doesn’t yet look like the Frank Lloyd Wright designed classic I aspire for it to be. But here’s some of the game wooo! (the pics still have the pause border cause I’m lazy).

There is some surface level talk of Nervous Subject trauma below.

Here’s Nervous and Loki. Nervous is sad cause he lost a fight with Loki apparently.

This is my attempt to maintain some of Nervous’ punk look in a 30-ish setting.

Nervous deserves only good things. I will take you out of this place soon I promise.

Circe comes home and plays catch with Loki which only consists of them just chucking the ball right into each other’s faces over and over again.

… which they enjoy. And that seems very on brand for them.

So I had kind of planned a redo of what I did when I first played the game when I was around 12 which is to get Nervous and Pascal together, cause I think that’d be sweet. However that was before I had things like ACR and chemistry and traits to complicate things, all I had to do then was direct one of them to flirt with the other and as long as they had a high enough relationship score they would fall in love. Now I’m a grown up I want things to be autonomous and seem like it was their choice but also do what I want them to do - is this what being a god feels like? Anyway if they don’t have chemistry I won’t force it. Nervous did turn out to be gay though without my interference so all I can say is that 12 year old me called it.

I have Nervous use the (modded) crystal ball to find a date. Pascal isn’t listed so I pick this guy, cause look at his hipster facial hair that’s gotta be respected. And maybe being with an older, wiser guy could be good for Nervous, they have two bolts of chemistry, now they just need to flirt and…

Nervous slapped him :/  and he slapped back. Ok. Ok. This is my first time playing with traits, and I did give Nervous a few antisocial ones like, brooding and unstable cause yeah he’s actually a sweet boy underneath that but he’s got a lot of trauma and probably a lot of trust issues, so he’s not easily going to be able to form nice, healthy relationships if we’re being real here. I don’t know if this was caused by the traits or his personality/low aspiration though. But it’s just one negative interaction, maybe they can move past this and…

For reasons that can best be described as underlying sexual tension Nervous attacks him. Nervous wins. You beat up an old guy, well done.

But then behold! Pre-30s makeover Pascal walks by. I gave Nervous the servant trait by mortia (which I think will be more useful in my other hoods) cause I figured Loki and Circe would treat him as such, and so he greets Pascal like this. greetings here

Nervous seems to be neutral to Pascal chemistry-wise, but I think Pascal might feel differently cause he decides to flirt with Nervous! And it goes well. But then instead of continuing to flirt Nervous goes off to keep beating up that other guy, and Pascal goes and reads a book, stick with what you know I guess.

Oh Nervous is also a kleptomaniac (I figure he doesn’t get to hang onto much of his own stuff and so compulsively takes from others when he has the chance in an attempt to have control over something in his life – am I, am I making this too sad?) So he decides to steal from hipster grandad.

Look at his poor frightened face.

If you’re wondering where Circe is here she is enjoying the violence of a Nervous/hipster Grandad fight. Her 30’s makeover is my favourite so far, by far.

Then her and Nervous decide to slap each other, she gets a relationship increase from it and becomes best friends, and still cries about it.

Then Nervous decides to fight the fitter, healthier Circe and unsurprisingly loses.

A. No he didn’t. B. It’s not night. C. You spent the whole time reading when you could have slept anywhere there are inexplicably three beds in this house. D. Is this really about something else? What were you hoping would happen? Is there subtext to this Pascal? And E. Nervous seems to fear being rejected for a flirt by Pascal… interesting.

That’s all for now. I think I will go to Pascal’s house next but when that will be I don’t know, this is all very infrequent and random. Bye.
