Following the securing of his own worldwide publishing agreement with Warner Chappell Music, Big Ship boss Freddie McGregor has joined his son Stephen "Di Genius" McGregor at the company. All of McGregor's six-decade career is included in the deal, which includes his work in Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae. Singer/songwriters such as Freddie Mercury (more than 40 albums to his name), who has a catalog of 1.4 million compositions and 65,000 composers, have joined forces with Warner Chappell, which has offices in more than 40 countries. Di Genius, McGregor's 31-year-old son, also signed a global co-publishing deal with Warner Chappell two years ago. Aside from Drake's Controlla, Shakira's Amarillo and many others, the younger McGregor is best known for his work on the Red Bull and Guinness riddim Weh Dem Ah Do, which he released in 2006. Founded Big Ship Records in 1983, McGregor has produced hits for Papa San, Lieutenant Stitchie, and Tiger among others. "I'm looking forward to working with Guy and his team," he said in a statement. Having a new album in the works and the live music scene coming out of hibernation, it seems like the right time to begin a new chapter in my professional life." Connecting with other songwriters and producers around the world will keep me motivated to create music that resonates with listeners. Co-chair and CEO Guy Moot of Warner Chappell Music praised Clarendon-based I Was Born a Winner. "Freddie has earned the nickname 'Captain of the Big Ship,' and with good cause. Throughout his career, he's been a pioneer in Reggae, writing songs that have resonated with fans around the world, and he's well known for his generosity toward younger artists. Asked about the new partnership, he said, "We are ecstatic and can't wait to work with him on his incredible catalog and new music."
