Where Are They Now? Svetlana Dubova
Welcome to the first installment of Where Are They Now?, a series that tells what happened after the series of my American Girl OCs. First is the Soviet-American girl Svetlana!
-her father Dimitri (born in 1917) passed away due to complications from lung cancer in 1982, at the age of 65. Her mom Elena passed away in 1992 (born in 1919), at the age of 73.
-married a man she met in college, Grigori Nikiforov, in 1972. She took his last name, as is custom in the United States. The couple moved to Dover New Hampshire soon after their wedding, where they still reside today. The couple’s only child, son Viktor, was born in 1975. Viktor made Grigori and Svetlana grandparents in the winter of 1992 (January 4th, 1992, to be specific), when his daughter Anfisa Christina Nikiforova was born. Their younger granddaughter Masha Regina Nikiforova was born in the winter of 1993 (February 19th, 1993, to be specific.)
-Svetlana took a job as a bank teller upon moving to New Hampshire. She retired from the job in 2009, soon after her 69th birthday.
-visited Russia in 1998 with her family. She bought her granddaughter a toy of the Ultisa Sezam character Businka while visiting a toy store in Moscow. Her younger granddaughter opted to get a toy of the Ulitsa Sezam character Kubik.
-her older sister Anastasia passed away in a car accident in 1965, at the age of 23. At the time, she was engaged to a boy named Earl King. Her brother Vasily is currently alive, turning 82 in the spring of 2021. Vasily’s daughter Amelia (born in 1958) has one daughter, Aubrey, who was born in October of 1992.
