The Ultimate Guide to the Best Microphones for Podcasting
Podcasting aficionados, it's time to amplify your voice with the perfect mic! Geekanoids brings you the definitive list of the best podcasting microphones to suit every need and budget.
For the wandering podcaster, the Rode SmartLav+ offers unparalleled convenience as a lavalier microphone. This is perfect to vlog on the go or indeed capture on location snippets of audio that could later become part of your podcast.
When versatility is key, the Blue Microphones Yeti Nano has been around for a long time and stands out for its adaptable recording patterns. However, if you're diving into voice recordings, the Rode Podmic is your go-to for rich, warm audio that captivates listeners. In fact, I have personally used the Rode Podmic USB (which has both XLR and USB connectivity) for my own recordings and have always been impressed.
Do you crave that studio-quality sound without breaking the bank? Look no further than a brand that may well not be on your radar. The Earthworks Audio EVO looks absolutely stunning and the tonal quality is exceptional. This would certainly be one of my top picks.
The Shure SM7dB reigns supreme as the all-around champion for podcasting, delivering professional-grade audio that has graced the studios of podcast legends. This new version has a beefier output, so is a little easier to use in your audio production setup.
If you are ready to let your voice be hard and elevate your podcast to the next level, snag your ideal microphone and capture every nuance of your vocal brilliance. Stay tuned for more of the latest geek findings in the world of podcasting, only on Geekanoids.

Hi! I enjoyed your podfics! May I ask, what is VoiceTeam? And what did you use to make your recordings and to do the editing? The way that the files are embedded in AO3 is really clean and nice too. I'm so impressed and curious!
Hoooooo lordy! If this isn't basically my favorite kind of ask! First off, thank you so much for complimenting my podfics! I love podficcing, listening to podfics, and the podficcing community so much and psst, we would love have you.
Question 1: Voiceteam is an annual audio fanwork challenge that is housed on Dreamwidth and Discord wherea a bunch of podficcers, aspiring podficcers, and their friends are broken up into teams by an incredible mod team to compete for points. The challenges include things like, "Make an audio fanwork where you alter the voice of at least one character in the editing phase" or "Listen to an audio fanwork of another Voiceteam member and make a moodboard for it." The points equal bragging rights and a personal sense of accomplisment, but we all win because yay! More podfic and other audio fanwork! Voiceteam takes place over the course of the month and included 3 one-week rounds (with 10 challenges per round) this year. There are also sometimes mini Voiceteam events at other times of the year. Question 2: I have a Yeti Nano mic right now and I record straight into the program Audacity, which I also use for editing. It is free and there are Mac and PC versions. My husband (who is a musician) is very annoyed that I use Audacity and he really wants me to start using GarageBand but like, soooo much of the podficcing community uses Audacity and they are way more available to help me with editing problems than my husband so haha. Before I had this mic, I used one of my hubby's super fancy mics. And before that, I used my phone and the tiny mic on my convenience store headphones. I say this to say YOU CAN START ANYWHERE. There are ways to make phone mics sound just fine for podficcing! Question 3: I upload my podfics into archive.org for posting. It's nice and easy to embed and to share download links! I got into podficcing primarily by being brought in slowly by friends...audio breadcrumbs if you will. And I am more than happy to bring you along too! I (we) are always looking for people to do bit parts on multivoice projects and that's a great way to get started because you don't have to do anything but record! Additionally lot of us also read this post by @the-dragongirl when we were getting ready to make our own pods for the first time (from recording to editing).
I should also say, I break a lot of best practice podficcing rules all the time and it's still okay. I've improved a lot over time, but also I listen to some of my first pods and they're still pretty great.

tumblr girls... do any of you have recommendations for a cheapish, mid-quality usb microphone or headset... I don’t need anything super fancy just want to record clear narration for youtube videos sometimes.
I’m looking at a blue yeti nano right now because I’ve used one through my university before and liked it fine but I do not have much experience with mics so I’m wondering if there’s something better in a similar price range or cheaper and equally good

Ok here it is 10 years I can stop talking about it now.
This is the first video I’ve made since...probably the AMVs i made in like 2007 when I was 13. Those were made with Windows Movie Maker, this was made with Camtasia, the same program I use to make gifs.
I’m pretty shy about this and watching it fucks me up tbh so I’m probably not gonna watch it again but enjoy a simple Falz fight since I can’t do a cool one anymore RIP my childhood character. Sorry for choppiness in voice I cut a ton of silence out in unneeded spots early because idk wtf I’m doing its my first video with this program and once i noticed it it was too much effort to redo lmao Also the fluctuating volumes (nothing major) is from my Yeti Nano which is a decent mic just didn’t pick up my voice fully ._. I adjusted the best I could which may have also added choppiness.
Here is my sourced post for the Desktop background as Pixiv will require you to sign in since its flagged as NSFW
I did skip talking about my 1+ year consistent absence. Its hard to talk about because while I’d like to be transparent I don’t want anyone thinking I’m talking about it for pity. I’ll just say I was in an extremely difficult time in my life that caused trama lmao but in the same absence I was also healing from it and I’m fine but it was just a really rough time in life. I apologize for that and feel guilt for my inactivities regularly but for what its worth I did go from homed to homeless to apartment to my first house during that absence and slept with my ex’s boss after he cheated on and dumped me. Interesting time in my life.

Hey Meek, not sure if you have been asked or answered the question already. What do you use to film your YouTube videos? As far as the equipment goes like the microphone, headphones if any etc. I want to start making my own sim videos but unsure what equipment I should get. Thanks in advance!
Hey,
I use yeti nano for my mic. & OBS to record. I don't use headphones.

Since my Blue Yeti arm stand is broken and my Blue Yeti mic wasn't working super well, I had bought a new mic on Amazon for recording Podfics. Blue Yeti Nano. 😁 The stand goes to the trash, my old mic to a recycling center.
I still got my old C920 Logitech Webcam but it work very well and I don't see the need to upgrade to a newer, expensive model with 4K video recording. I barely use it too. 💧
