#all of my gulity pleasures put into

Note
Rwby is such a gulity pleasure show for me because I know the show has a lot of problematic elements from the drama behind the scenes, some questionable writing and the fandom having the craziest and insane fans ever, that they put Voltron fans and maybe Miraculous Ladybug fans to shame. However, when the show does something good it's really good and it has the potential to be something great. You can't really stop watching Rwby completely because there are some aspects to the show that are genuinely good. Volume 9 is possibly my favortive volume because it actually gave Ruby character development and finally made bumblebee canon , it's not great but not awful either. It's still has issues but I still enjoy it regardless. Honestly the only reason I almost stop watching the show is because of the toxic fans constantly fighting back and forth if Rwby is a great show or sending death threats to anyone who dare talk shit about their beloved show. But the "youtubers critics" are possibly the worst because everytime I heard them trying to critique RWBY they're always mean spirited and only watch the show just to shit on it.
I can't really speak to the fandom, I miss out on most of that drama crap with RWBY, but there's like a weirdly dedicated anti-fandom. Like I'm not sure why a popular nice guy youtuber turns on a current episode and openly says "I haven't watched in seven years but oh my god what is even happening this doesn't make sense I wonder why that is" instead of just not having his head up his ass, but here we are.
The behind the scenes stuff... That hurts because I bought into the whole cult of RT thing but if I take a step back I can't feel guilty about this and watch any MCU movie, or play any Blizzard game, or read any comic ever made. I loved Arcane despite Riot's whole nightmare situation and bigger company means more people were hurt.
The truth of the matter is that all of the media we consume is made from the abuse of the people doing the work in order to benefit the rich guys up top. Some places are worse than others, RT was real bad and other than RWBY I've cut myself off from them, but they're all bad. The whole system is fucked. We're in a perpetual loop of rich people controlling everything and abusing everyone to become more rich. The only answer is revolution.

3 gulity pleasure/comfort movies to watch
I finally decided to give a public shout ot to my three gulity pleasure movies that you should definitly give a try if you do love character focused storytelling.
Disclaimer: the criteria that were important for me here is that the storytelling is consistent, no major plotholes, likable characters, a good aesthetic and good cinematography. They do not have to be “Good” in the classic way but “enjoyable”
1. Dracula Untold
Tumblr media
The movie a made up Dracula origin story with Luke Evans in main role. The turkish people attack his kingdom Transylvania so he makes a deal with a vampire. He gets the power of a vampire for three days and if he manages not to drink the blood of a human being in this three days he get turned into a human again. If not he becomes a vampire himself.
So far, so simple. The story is not super deep but as you can already tell by the poster the aesthetic of this movie is on point. They work a lot with the black/white/red aesthetic, espcially when it comes to Draculas wife (The movie has so many beautiful scenes, I am a sucker for it). Which is another good thing about the movie. While the straight marriage Dracula has in this movie is not super deep or meaningful, it is still not written agressive straight but actually lovable and wholesome to watch...
And the movie involves vampires and a gay actor so of course it is gay on a subtextual level. Seriously, Luke Evans letting another man suck his blood changed me forever.
Also the whole inner conflict of a man who doesn’t want to be a monster and does everything to suppress it but has to unleash the monster to safe the people he loves gets me everytime. Its about the suffer! Also Dracula is absolutley loavble in the movie. You just want to protect him... and you also want to see him suffer in every way possible.
It is not a horror movie but a dark fanatsy movie with some slightly gory scene but also here they focus more on the aesthetic then the gore so it is easy to watch. (In germany people from 12 years onwards are allowed to watch it. I would say 14 years onwards).
Also Christianity is not really used/shown in the movie. I am glad about that because this is something that can be really annyoing and triggering for some people and ruin their fun. But here are just some monks who say a prayer, thats basically it
Oh and some background knowledge about Dracula can absolutely improve your fun because he has his own Renfield and his bridges.
The ending is unexpected and super wholesome. And with 90 minutes run time you can easily watch it. So definitly give it a try if you a sucker for aestheticly pleasing movies, a monster fucker, a queer vampire lover or if you just love seeing beautiful man suffer for 90 minutes straight.
The only downside is that he has no wings, like teased on the poster so do not get your hopes up. And there is a really weird CGI scene.
2. King Arthur - Legend of Sword
Tumblr media
Yeah, I know what you are now thinking “She is out of her mind!”/”Why are all the movies white male lead?!” but please let me explain
*Heavy breath*. This movie is an origin story (You already notice I like those, because you can put so much bonkers ideas into made up origin stories) for King Arthur. It loosley follows the tale. When Arthur is a little boy his jelaous uncle kills Arthurs whole family. Only Arthur is able to escape in a boat. He is then raised by sex workers and lives a slightly criminal but normal life. His life changes when a magic sword stucked in a stone is found. As a result he has to fight against his uncle even though Arthur actually is not interested at all in becoming King himself
So... this adaptation is totally bonkers. I would never agrue about that. But this movie is still enjoyable. First at all, I am a slut for Guy Ritchties way of filming. You can already see it in Sherlock Holmes, how scenes are played forward and back again, how everything is moving when the character is telling a story or planing a heist. Here it is used in an extreme way. Not as much as in The Gentleman though where it was over-used imo. Here it is used in the right amount. It makes the story really fun and dynamic to watch. In general the movie has a dark aesthetic. But in contrast to Dracula Untold it is not dark from teh beginning but gets their over the course of the movie.
2. The soundtrack. Absoultly amazing! I remeber how the trailer was released and the people on YouTube tried to extract the music from the trailer immediately. It is absolutly on point
3. The magic. The movie has a lot of fanatsy elements with witches who can “borrow” animals and use their bodies to attack other people. We have Merlin of course, who is again criminally underused. Spritis of the wood, Spritis of the water and a really dreamish guest world??? Which gets never explained but hey, thats not what we are here for anyway
4. The characters are absolutly lovable. We also have the actor of little finger from GOT and he kinda plays the same role here. The movie has the obligatory female love interest ... who never gets turned into a love interest. Big yeah! Arthur hits on her one time, she refuses, and the rest of the movie we never have to deal with a forced heterosexual relationship ever again. And the sex workers are shown as real lovable human beings. As mother figures and sisters, which again is a big yay! And the movie has Jude Law… who sadly got a horrible written role but he still plays it really well
Only the finale fight is a huge let down. But it is still a fun to watch movie which always give you something to smile about. Not a depressing movie. And yeah... we all just ignore the criminal modern hair cuts and style of the main character, okay?
3. Vampire Academy 2014
Tumblr media
Yeah, again a vampire movie, what Can I say? I am queer. If PoTC wasn’t my bisexual awakening this movie definitly was it
First at all, please do not let you fool by the promo images, they are horrible and do not capture the spirit of the movie at all. But in a way they also do... its compliacted
This movie is told from the POV of Rose a half-vampire who is the protector of her best friend, Lissa, a born royal vampire. The movie is about Lissa and Rose who escaped from their vampire high school but are brought back after one year and are quickly confronted with royal conspiracies among the students, a big mystery and Lissa who has a really special ability (yeah there is magic involved) and of course the drama of high school love.
I know some fans who say that the movie is making fun of the book Vampire Academy is based on but seriously? I don’t think so. Vampire Academy (the movie) was released during the twilight hype but didn’t wanted to be confused with twilight. So the writers haven chosen a completly different route. Instead of being all romantic and taking itself too seriously it is really really funny. You do not cringe the whole time like I do when I watch Twilight (love the books).
Rose is a strong fighter who always has a punchline (not annyoing btw), Lissa who is all girly and princess and the older love interest Dimitri who is excatly capturing the spirit of the older boy we all had a crush on once. Hot, sexy and completly out of reach. You can already see the clichés but the movie is aware of those cliché and kinda turns it around, give the character a human side every viewer can connect to
There are a lot of training scenes with Rose and Dimitri which are a joy for every bisexual to watch. Natalie - a side chatacter - is the school nerd but instead of being potrayed as annyoing she is super loveable and human. Lissa is sure all princess, but you only want to protect her when you see her suffering.
The movie sure has a low budget, so there is no true aesthetic or stunning cinematography, it is just straight up an enjoyable movie.
And I think the more humoristic approach is why the movie is working so well. Why I am cringing when movie!Edward asks Bella: “You know what I am. Say it” but why I get weak knees when Dimitri calls Rose “Roza”
Vampire Academy truely said: “Those are sexy vampire who go to proms and do unrealstic stuff but in the end they are just humans, let us focus on that”. You know this movies were actors try to appear royal and cool and mysterious and it is just so uncomfrtable to watch and the whole time you are just begging the movie to stop? VV is excatly NOT doing this
I think the reason why this movie flopped so hard was because it completly changed the tone of the book, it was still confused with twilight and didn’t really fit into any category, because it is also not a parody. I do not knw if the world was and will ever be ready for this movie.
So if you want teenage high school drama movie which is funny, has amazing chemistry among the cast, who is full of clichés but also gets rid of them right away, if you love vampires and women with swords.. watch that movie

Can you do a fanfic (set in the early seasons) where a female friend of Deeks hangs out with the team during their off hours, but notices how they treat him unfarily and calls them out on their behavior. Deeks's friend stands up for him (when he isn't around) and really makes the team feel gulity about their treatment.
A/N: Oh look, another poor abandoned prompt. More apologies forthcoming. Set around season 3.
***
It’s Just A Joke
“And that is how it’s done, Gentleman,” Deeks crowed, laying his pool cue on the green covered table as he held out his right hand. “Pay up.”
He grinned, the very definition of smug while Callen shook his head in reluctant appreciation. Sam seemed annoyed by Deeks’ overwhelming win in the last three games.
“Nice job, Partner,” Kensi congratulated him, leaning over for a high five. Deeks returned it, still grinning.
She’d dropped out of their impromptu competition a few games ago after a string of bad turns. She’d didn’t seem all that bothered to sit out, but Deeks figured that had something to do with winning $30 off each of them before that.
As far as team nights went, it was shaping up to be pretty good.
“How is it that you almost never win, but tonight you beat us in half the games?” Sam asked, digging out his wallet and slapping a perfect $50 into Deeks’ palm. “You’ve always been mediocre at best. Kensi, you been teaching him?”
He turned to Kensi, who raised her hands to absolve her of any involvement.
“I had nothing to do with it. Deeks won completely on his own,” she told him, and Deeks felt just a tiny bit of pleasure at the respect in her voice.
“I wouldn’t exactly say I’m a pool shark, but I used to play sometimes with Ray in high school and off and on over the years,” Deeks explained. “Plus, I’ve spent the last two years picking up your strategies.”
“Uh-huh, likely story.” As they headed back to their table, Sam and Callen continued to rib him.
“Well, since you’re the big winner, I think it’s only fair you get the next round, Deeks,” Callen piped up.
“Ooh, in that case, I want some jalapeño poppers and nachos too,” Kensi added, nudging Deeks’ shoulder when he squinted one eye on here. “C’mon, for your beloved partner.”
“Not feeling super loved right now,” Deeks joked. “Those snacks are pretty expensive and I’m just a lowly detective.” He gave Kensi a pitiful look, which she gave just as much attention as he expected. Rolling her eyes, she pulled a crumpled five out of her pocket and stuffed it in his front pocket.
“There. Happy now?”
“Delighted. Two orders of heartburn coming right up.”
Deeks put in their orders at the bar, taking a couple minutes to chat with the bartender while he waited.
“Hey, is that my favorite detective?” A voice said from slightly behind him, and he turned, smiling when he recognized the woman connected to the voice.
“Marley,” he said, reaching over to hug the blonde woman. “It’s good to see you.” She leaned into the hug, giving him an extra squeeze before she stepped back with a wide grin.
“Yeah, it’s been way too long. I saw you playing pool earlier with your friends, but I didn’t want to interrupt,” she explained.
“Oh, they’re just my coworkers. You want to meet them?” Maybe it was a terrible idea to offer, but he was curious to see the team’s reaction to someone who could easily out debate him.
“Sure, as long as you don’t think I’ll be intruding. I’d love to hear about what you’ve been doing the last five years.”
Marley helped him carry the two trays of drinks and food when it came out a few minutes later. By the team they reached table, they were both laughing over a joke no one else ever found funny.
“Hey guys, this is my friend Marley Steiger,” Deeks introduced her, noting the way they all silently assessed her within a few seconds. “Marley, these are my coworkers Sam, Callen, and Kensi.”
Callen and Kensi each nodded, while Sam cracked a smirk.
“Nice to meet you, Marley. So you’re telling me Deeks actually has friends,” he joked, offering a hand to Marley. She took it after a brief hesitation, brows wrinkling.
“Uh, not really sure what you mean by that, but yeah, we’ve been friends since high school,” she responded pleasantly. Deeks could tell she was doing her own assessing as she stared Sam down. “We were the Star members of the debate team.” She turned to wink at Deeks.
“And let me guess, you guys ended up law school together,” Kensi said.
“Actually, no. We ended up at different colleges, different majors, but we’ve kept up over the years. I always have to get my Deeks fix now and again.”
Kensi’s eyes widened at that and Deeks rolled his eyes when Marley curled her arm through his. She had zero romantic interest him, never had, but she did enjoy flirting.
“Well, pull up a chair Marley,” Callen offered. “We’ve got lots of stories to share.”
***
Kensi tried to focus on Sam as he related a story from one of Deeks’ first weeks with the team. Her eyes kept flickering to the side where Marley was seated next to Deeks. One of her hands rested on his arm, her touch familiar and comfortable as she pressed up against his side.
From every story she’d told, it was clear Marley liked Deeks a lot. Ot made her curious, and oddly-though she was loathe to name it-jealous of their connection, their history. She’d seen Deeks open up in a way he rarely did in the presence of his old friend.
“Hey, can you get another beer,” Marley asked Deeks when there was a loll in the conversation.
“Sure.” Deeks stood, brushing her arms as he did so. Marley watched him walk away, then turned back, her smile dropping in an instant.
“Ok, do you guys hate Deeks?” she asked. “Is there some inside rivalry going on that I don’t know about?”
“What?” Kensi said, surprised by the questions and the sudden shift in demeanor. So far, she’d seen little of the fierce debater Deeks had indicated, but now with her staring them down, Kensi felt a tinge of unease. “Of course we don’t hate Deeks. He’s part of our team.”
“Well, you could have fooled me. In the last hour and a half, I’ve heard you imply Deeks was dishonest, insult his appearance, and criticize his work ethic.” She gave both Sam and Callen a pointed look. “That doesn’t seem like the kind of thing you say about someone you like.”
“Marley, it’s just the way things go on a team like ours,” Sam explained. “We all joke around with each other and Deeks knows that.”
“Really? So you’re saying that it’d be ok if Deeks turned around and questioned your skills in front of your friends or at all?” she countered and Kensi felt her cheeks heat as Marley sent her a disappointed look.
“We were joking tonight, but Deeks is a newer member of the team—” Callen started to say, but Marley cut across him a derisive sound.
“Look at you trying to justify it. I’ve had enemies that treat better than you do him.” She made another sound, this time disgusted and stood up abruptly. “You know what, I think I should go before I say something I really regret. Tell Marty I’ll call him.”
As she quickly turned and cut through the crowd, Kensi got up too, shooting Sam and Callen a dismayed look. They just seemed perplexed.
“Marley,” she called out, hurrying after the other woman. She managed to catch her as she was headed out the front entrance. “Marley, can I talk to you for a moment?”
Sighing, Marley finally stopped, crossing her arms over her chest.
“Fine. What did you want to say?”
Kensi paused, awkwardly rubbing her hands on her jeans.
“I want to apologize for what happened in there.”
“I’m not the one you need to apologize to,” Marley said pointedly.
“Ok, well, still. That’s not what we’re normally like. There’s a lot of history that you didn’t see, but we definitely respect him and need him on our team,” Kensi told her. As she spoke, Marley shifted back on one foot, tilting her head as she stared at Kensi.
“You really believe that, don’t you?” Marley shook her head, seeming more sad than anything now. “Maybe that’s how your team, whatever is you do, operates. Maybe it usually works for you, but to an outsider, probably to your other colleagues, it calls Deeks’ abilities and professionalism into question. And no matter what Deeks might say, that has to take its toll day after day.”
“I guess I’ve never really thought about it that way,” Kensi murmured, worrying at her bottom lip. She thought of Deeks who had sat through all their jokes, their teasing tonight. The way he dealt in sarcasm and rarely showed any sign that he was bothered. Was it all an act?
“Well maybe you should,” Marley said gently.
“He’s the best partner I’ve ever had,” Kensi admitted. She didn’t know why she was telling a near stranger something so personal, why it mattered. It seemed important that a Marley believe her though.
“Good.” Nodding, Marley gave her arm a squeeze. “Now maybe make sure that Deeks knows it to.”
As she turned towards her car again, Kensi headed back inside. Deeks was back at their table, head thrown back as he laughed.
Maybe Marley was completely wrong; maybe he didn’t care what they said about him at all. Either way, she was going to do everything in her power to make sure he stayed. Because she couldn’t bare to think of working without him.
***
A/N: I feel this turned out quite OOC and fairly unrealistic, but I hope it was still enjoyable.
I also know Deeks does his fair amount of teasing and such, though not to the same degree and with the same level of nastiness as the others often do.
Thanks for the prompt!

Spooky Tag Time!
I’ve been tagged by @starry-eyedandstormy. Since it’s officially the spookiest time of the year, celebrate by sharing your six favorite films or shows to indulge in during the season of the spooks (they can range from frightening and grotesque to the funniest and most light hearted thing imaginable), then try to tag six more followers/mutuals to keep it going!
Funny thing is I’m more into spooky video games then films or shows (such as Soma, Majora’s Mask, and Night in the Woods are my favorites as all are fun, and atmospheric, and chilling in all the right ways), but I do have these six to pull out and share with you guys.
1.) Alien (1979)
Tumblr media
Even tho Aliens vs Predator is my fav out of the Alien movies and a gulity pleasure (its a fucking MASTERPIECE your critics!), the first Alien is just too good to pass up for the season; the visuals, the suspence, the practical effects, and SPACE! I loved the buildup and the big reveal of the Alien and how it left a big impact Signourney Weaver becoming one of my fav actresses
It also brings me back to when I was younger and spend hours and nights watching the SyFy (back then it was SciFi Channel, fucking miss those days) and AMC channels. A LOT of the stuff on wasn’t even good, but when it was great it was GREAT (Predator was on too), and its one of the things where I really started my love for monster and science fiction movies.
2.) Stranger Things (2016-20XX)
Tumblr media
Can anyone believe it only took me NOW to binge watch Stranger Things for the first time ever? Well I caught up and it. IS. PHENOMENAL! Kids? FUCKING AWESOME! The adults *coughJoyceByersIsBadasscoughCOUGH* The teens always start off as the weakest part for me and the bullies were one dimensional but then they get better, but its such as strong series and those are relatively nitpicks from me. The characters are solid, the music and atmosphere are top notch, and the suspence and mystery are fucking awesome! I’m so excited to spend 9 hours next year for season 3!
3.) Pan’s Labyrinth (2006)
Tumblr media
I saw Hellboy 1 and Mimic on scifi channel once, but I forgot about them quickly later on (Hellboy made a rebound with me after another rewatch but its nothing like its sequel. Mimic is just bleh). Pan’s Labyrinth cemented me as Guillermo del Toro becoming my one of three only favorite and likable directors/producers right now in hollywood, and huge fan of his work and styles. It really made me appreciate and look deep into the power of practical monster makeup and design, smart camera work and lighting, large sets and environment, Doug Jones, and revitilized my love of movie monsters when I fell out of it for a time. I love how dark this story gets with its visuals and storytelling (I hate it when kids and animals die on screen, but del toro is SOMEHOW the only guy who makes it work for me. HOWDOESHEFUCKINGDOIT???), but yet still be so emotional and be full of energy and passion. Its just so. Damn. GOOD.
4.) Annihilation (2018)
Tumblr media
THIS^^^
I have NEVER left a movie theater in terror and shakes since I saw War of the Worlds as a kid (aliens with needles sucking up human blood? WAY TOO MUCH FOR A 10 YEAR OLD). This ^^^ THIS MOVIE? FREAKED. ME. OUT. Both as a casual movie goer and as someone with an environmental and biology career ahead. It’s another scifi horror and it delivers. The atmosphere, the setup, the crazy ass shit these scientists experience is both beautiful and terrifying, and its just chilling in a goosebumps through your skeleton kind of feel. If I were to spoil it, I dont think I could describe it justice bc I couldnt convey how fearful it can be, but there are gorey bits in it that might get too much for some.
Its sad that not alot of ppl saw it before I was put up on Netflix while it was still in cinemas, but I highly-HIGHLY-encourage ppl to watch this with a good ass sound system bc .... D A M N
5.) Young Frankenstein (1974)
Tumblr media
WHY AND HOW DID I NOT GROW UP WITH THIS? ITS THE BEST ALRIGHT! ITS FUNNY, MY KIND OF PARODY AND THIS DESTROYS ME EVERYTIME!
Tumblr media
6.) Over the Garden Wall (2014)
Tumblr media
Has anyone ever heard of “Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark”? Its a book full of anthology vignettes of gothic stories, folklore, and urban legends for kids? My parents would read them to us at night next to Goosebumps, Harry Potter, and lighter hearted kids books. I get that feel when I watch the mini-series with the brothers and their travels in the woods. Its just charming and weirdly engaging, and just odd in some places with this eerie undertone with the kiddy and goofy parts to even it out just right. Plus it has one of the best lines I was ever spoiled with but it got better in full context ever.
Tumblr media
PHEW THATSA LONG POST!
I was tagged by @starry-eyedandstormy and for my 6 peeps, I’m going with @little----wolf, @ellimm27, @notagrimreaper, @tipolini, @platypiandi, and @cesspooldrool@. you dont have to do this if you dont wanna, but I wanna hear what you guys have to say about your favs if you feel like sharing.
