ooh i had a random idea come up for mat barzal x reader gf

where mat is protective of his gf when the paparazzi suddenly surround them after a game and someone tries to pull reader aside to get better shots of him

you still weren’t used to the crowds, the fans, the media that followed him around. it was something you knew you were getting yourself into when you started dating mat but it wasn’t easy.

after a particularly tough game, the two of you were making your way to his car when a couple of people came up asking for pictures with mat. he was tired and had a headache and you knew he wasn’t in the mood for photos but he plastered on a smile and nodded. you knew the drill so when he stood next to one of them, you automatically started to take a couple steps away but a hand grabbed your arm and pulled you in a different direction, making you stumble and nearly fall.

“watch it!” mat snapped, immediately moving towards you and pulling you closer to him. he glared at the guy who raised his hands defensively and walked away, along with the other people who had been waiting for a picture.

mat was grumbling under his breath as he directed you to his car, ignoring anyone that tried to stop and talk to him. he didn’t say anything until you were both in the car and driving home.

“can we go live in a cabin somewhere in the woods, away from everyone?” he joked but the idea was tempting to you.

“no ice rink in the woods,” you reminded him but he just smiled softly and reached out to hold your hand.

“as long as i have you, i’ll be okay.”

i don’t think so!

it offers her a chance to finally be rid of her abuser, once and for all. she will no longer have to suffer through his legal abuse and she will not be forced to relive her trauma again for the public or for anyone. she will be able to move on with her life, her activism, her acting, and raising her beautiful daughter!! hopefully this can begin to officially be behind her and she can move forward in peace 💕

To me Lou's answer basically confirmed two things. Tommy is a stepping stone towards Buddie, and that Buddie is happening. Like you can just tell and it's not just his answer it's all the freaking shit that has come out the last two weeks.

Personally I don't like to think of Tommy (or just any other person in general) merely being a catalyst or a stepping stone towards buddie, I think is a bit reductive. But this is just my opinion.

You might've been asked this before, but how do you keep your notes organized while you're taking them?

Since switching to digital note taking, I've found it much easier to keep all of my notes organised. I have a list of all the conditions I need to learn in a Notion database, which makes it very easy to filter by specialty and whether or not I have studied that particular topic. I make all of my notes in ANKI (in the form of flashcards), where I organise them into flashcard decks for each condition too. If I ever write notes by hand (on my iPad), I use Goodnotes and organise everything into folders!

it wasn’t often that the two of you got to go out together. both your schedules were hectic so when you were free, you would spend as much as time you could together. normally your favorite thing to do was to spend the night in but every now and then, it was fun to go out, whether it was dinner or a bar with some friends.

this particular night, some of your mutual friends were going out to a bar and invited the two of you. you didn't usually dress up, but tonight you put a little more effort into your outfit and you were pleased when Mat's eyes widened and he stared at you for a moment before grinning.

"we could just stay in for the night," he suggested but you rolled your eyes fondly and kissed him quickly before leaving the bedroom so he could finish getting ready. if he took a little longer than he should have, well you didn't say anything.

when you get to the bar, everyone is already here. one of your girlfriends drags you away and Mat starts chatting with one of the guys.

it's the perfect night until you're standing at the bar ordering a drink and feel a presence behind you. it's not Mat, you can tell by the strong stench of alcohol. you'd both decided ahead of time not to drink much that night so when you turn around and find a tall, drunk man towering over you, your back hits the counter top when you try to back away.

"want a drink sweetheart?" the drunk guy slurs, reaching out to touch you but before you can knee him in the crotch like the self-defense classes Mat insisted you take, he's dragged backwards by someone. he stumbles, falling backwards but is too drunk to stand back up and you look to see your boyfriend looking down at him in disgust. he looks like he wants to punch the guy, but a couple bounces come and escort him out. you don't hesitate before walking over to Mat and wrapping your arms around his waist. he pulls you closer and presses a kiss to the top of your head.

"home?" he mumbles and you nod.

bidding goodbye to your friends, the two of you quietly make your way home. you know it could have been much worse, but you're still shaken up and even once you get home and change into comfy clothes, you still don't say much. eventually, Mat coaxes you to bed and only once you're wrapped in his arms and feeling safe, you let out the breath you've been holding in.

"thank you," you say softly and he squeezes you gently.

"that's what i'm here for," he replies. you roll over so you're facing him.

"well that, and your good looks," you quip and he laughs.

it's the best sound you've heard all night.
