How about Bojan and Jere at Linnanmäki (or any fare/amusement park)? There's different rides, maybe even a haunted house/glass labyrinth.
Can also be AU, with them being teens/young adults
Hey, thank you for the ask! ❤️ I may write glacially slowly (sorry!) but I do always get there eventually. I hope it was worth the wait! Full disclaimer, written with about the level of detail and accuracy you'd expect from someone who's never set foot in Linnanmäki, so thanks also @frikatilhi for helping me with a couple of references!
“This is... best photo. Ever.” “Oh, fuck off.” “No, I am serious. I will always – what is the word – ” “Laugh at it? Laugh at me for it?” “Well, yes, both those things. But what is it when... it is very special to me?” “You mean you’ll treasure it?” “Yes, exactly! It is like treasure to me.” “Again: fuck off.” “Bojan, what? I just tell you it is special to me! Very special memory in photo right here: me and my Bojan, enjoying Linnanmӓki together.” “...” “Besides, you not telling me to fuck off last night. In fact, you keep telling me – ” “Jere, shh! Quiet!” “You also not do much of that last night either.” “People could hear!” “And?” “We said – ” “Yes, I know. It’s okei, don’t worry. I will stop there – ”
“Thank y – ” “ – with that.” “Oh for fuck’s s – ” “This is what they teach you in Slovenia? I am shocked. Here, grandma would wash your mouth with soap.” “No, this is just how we deal with someone clearly overreacting to a normal photo.” “Bojan, you are photographed many times for job. I never see you look like this.” “Well, you’ve never seen me at a theme park. Or anyone else, apparently, if you think this is a weird photo.” “Not weird. Priceless.” “Jere, come on – ” “Look at your face, Bojan.” “Stop waving it at me! That’s completely – ” “Look at it!” “We were on a rollercoaster! People are meant to scream!” “But I see you scream before. At gig or on stage or when I – ” “Jere.” “Okei, okei. But this time you are like – ” “I swear to god – ” “No, no, look. You are like this – ” “...” “...” “...” “...” “... you do realise if you stay like that and the wind changes direction you’ll get stuck, right?” “Ah, so your grandma did tell you something!” “It’d serve you right as well.” “I not mind. Just look in mirror any time and be reminded of my Bojan. Like this – ” “I hate you.” “That is also not what you said last night.” “And what about you? You knew there’d be a camera and you couldn’t even keep your eyes open for it!” “Ah, no. This is on purpose.” “On – what?” “I mean to do this.” “I don’t believe you.” “Is all true! I tell you I come here before, yes? Many times when growing up?” “Yes, right around the time you mentioned Taiga and didn’t mention what it was actually like!” “Well, we come here so often we do things for camera. As joke.” “Isn’t that how you pitched your OnlyFans?” “Eh, maybe yes, but this is art.” “Jokes like what, then?” “We start off with things like pretend we sleep. Is easy, no need for preparing. Then later we pretend we make calls. Bring masks or hats. Jukka almost lose sombrero on Kingi. We glue together house of cards one time, pretend to build on Hurjakuru. Also one time me and Mikke take on razor and foam – ” “Sorry, what?” “Yes, yes, we think he will pretend to shave my face on camera. But staff find us and say no. Banned for four months.” “...” “Yes, I know. Too harsh.” “You know what? I’m actually kind of impressed.” “About our jokes?” “Well, mostly that someone as short as you managed to qualify for so many different rides.” “Fuck you, Bojan!” “Now who needs their mouth washed out with soap?” “If you are nice, while we wait for next ride, I will see if I have photos and show you. Maybe I must text the guys to see if they have. Last time is, eh...” “A while ago?” “About three phones ago.” “To be fair, for you, that’s like a month.” “That was only one month, but I will let you have this as you gave me photo. Maybe I text now so we have photos when we wait.” “...” “...” “...” “...” “... you’re taking a very long time to write that text.” “Is hard to text and walk, you know?” “Even with me steering you?” “Even then.” “But you do this all the time and you never usually – wait.” “...” “Jere, you’re not sending the photo are you?” “Are you?” “Jere!” “Relax, Bojan, I joke. I would not send photo to anyone – that is just for us.” “... why am I not reassured by that?” “No idea. You are too suspicious. I tell you I don’t send photo, I don’t send photo.” “...” “... so maybe I send video instead.” “What?” "Taiga takes video also. I buy both.” “You – ” “See, very popular already! My friends are glad you enjoy Linnanmӓki so much.” “Yeah, I bet that’s not what they actually said.” “Eh, is close enough. Joker boys answer in English though, so we can both read, but mostly is emojis.” “Wait, what do you mean – ” “Ah yes, I send to them also. Let them know we have fun here. Though I am not sure they will know from your face – ” “Jere!”

Can you explain why you chose each monster/power to go with each band member? For example why Kris is a vampire etc?
Yeah sure!
Bojan- the other option for him was a siren (cause duh singing voice being enchanting) with a full mermaid tail but I just didn't want to deal with those logistics and it felt like it restricted him.
I went with incubus cause it gave a good reason for lots of smut and cause of the Demoni scream which i adore. Also let's be real Bojan is just kinda slutty and seductive on stage so cranking that up all the way made sense.
Having bojan be the frontman who obviously likes attention to then expand on that to have him literally feed on and need attention and love to live is just icing on top.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kris- the man looks like a vampire. His cheekbones can cut glass. Legit that was the main reason. He just photographs very elegantly and seems older than he actually is which I feel fits with a vampire. I imagine a quite old school, charming vampire with a hint of marceline from adventure time. He has a variety of powers partially to make up for him physically only having pointy teeth and a bite mark on his neck.
Tumblr media
Nace- his stompy dance he does one stage and the fact he wears blazers a lot with very big/thick boots. I also liked the idea of him being really strong but in a human way, and being literally made to be helpful (oooh backstory) Also if I was a monster I would be a Frankenstein monster so I had to make one of them that. Soft spot in my heart.
The idea of Nace wanting to fit in to the band and do it so well it was like he was made to fit the role to go alongside him literally being a made man rather than born is also a fun parallel.
(Tell me you don't see it)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jan - he's a really hairy guy and his big fur coats look amazing on him so naturally he had to have the hairiest monster. Along with that I feel he's kinda monotone but once you understand him he's actually really expressive which I then used by having his tail express his emotions. And the angst of a wolf transformation was just too good to not play with.
Tumblr media
Jure- i had the most trouble with Jure. I tried to think of maybe a sphinx to play into the whole cat thing. There's also some fanart out there which depicts him as a mummy which I also really liked but then didn't want to deal with the whole ancient Egypt mummy in Slovenia kinda deal because as you might have guessed I like everyone to have logical backstories.
A show i really like is BBC's Ghosts so I thought about how a poltergeist actually works well. They can be cheeky and chaotic and it just ended up suiting him really, really well. Along with that the idea of him being seen less (him being stuck abd the back of the stage and being translucent) was a fun theme i could explore. Maybe he wants to be seen more than he is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bonus two i haven't introduced yet!
Martin: he's a vampire. Yes it's also cause he's tall and elegant with good bone structure and wanted there to be at least one double up to make the world feel more real.
Jere: he's a pixie! Cause he's very cheeky and mischievous and cause of that one show somone gave him fairy wings.

NaceKris prompt since you like angst and hurt and comfort: Kris is losing his shit over being compared to his dad again and feeling like he's not good enough, and goes to Nace to vent (I can't wait to read this one this is also very much for my own pleasure)
Sorry this took so long, this drabble got entirely too long. I hope you like it!
That said before reading. I wasn't actively trying to write Kris as autistic, but I might have slipped up. The meltdown he has is definitely...indicatory of that so just heads up for that. In case it may trigger someone, maybe skip this one
Kris stared at the headline of a portal on his phone. He shouldn't click on it. He really, really shouldn't.
Is Gušti's son on a way to surpass his father's fame with his band?
It was a click-bait. Kris knew it was a click-bite. And he knew his day was already shitty so he though: Oh, why the fuck not at this point? He clicked on the article. The article went in depth about Miha Guštin's career, and compared it to Kris'. And in comparison, Kris did not look particularly great.
And then the article ended with saying that a more appropriate comparison would be perhaps between Gušti and Bojan.
Kris closed the article. He put his phone on the table, away from him, but the words haunted him. How could he ever compare?
His whole life he was always walking either in his father's shadow or Bojan's. And he felt like a wilted flower, tired of forever trying to get to the sun.
No. He didn't think that. Being in the center of attention could be even worse. He saw the toll it took on Bojan. How his father still couldn't go anywhere in public without being recognized or photographed.
He just felt so...useless. Plain, in comparison. Bojan used to joke when they were younger that every good main character needs a few interesting side characters. That's exacrly what Kris was. A side character.
There is also a question of if Gušti's son would have ended up on the musical scene at all without the influence of his father.
His breath came in short gasps. Kris closed his mouth and forced hinself to try and breathe through his nose. Breathe in for four seconds, gold for seven, exhale for eight. And again.
He grabbed his phone and dialed a number he wanted before he could think about it.
"Hi, Kris," Nace's deep voice greeted him from the other side.
"Can I come over?"
Nace paused, no doubt hearing his voice wavering. There was sizzling in the background and Kris realized that Nace was probably in the middle of making lunch.
He truly knew how to pick the time for a mental breakdown.
"Of course. But are you...okay? Do you want me to come to you?"
"No, no. It's fine. I'll...we can talk when I get there."
Kris could practically see Nace furrowing his brows. Worrying if Kris was truly well enough to walk to his place, like they didn't live ten minutes away from one another.
"It's fine, really. See you in a few."
He ended the call before Nace coukd say anything else. Even just hearing his voice calmed him down a bit.
The walk to Nace's apartment wasn't long, but to Kris' spiralling thoughts, it felt like ages. When he finally reached it and rang the doorbell, he felt overwhelming relief.
Loud barking came from the other side of the door. Kris heard Nace cursing as he tried to get around Ollie and unlock the door.
Kris did his best to put on a smile as the doors opened.
"Get in quickly, before he gets out," Nace said urgently.
Kris stepped through the door, shutting it behind him. Ollie immediately began jumping at him and demanding attention. He crouched down to pet him and let him lick his hands. He grit his teeth and counted to ten to not flinch from it.
"Right. Ollie, that's enough, let him breathe."
"It's okay. Really."
He was still crouching down, so he had to look up. Of course, that was the moment he noticed Nace was wearing a black tank top.
The bassist didn't wear sleeveless shirts often, but God we he did...fuck. Kris had to concentrate.
"I'm okay, I think. It was. I read an article I shouldn't have and I just..."
...wanted to see you. He swallowed. Thankfully, Nace seemed to understand. He offered Kris a hand to pull him up.
"Let's go to the living room first."
Saliva from Ollie licking his hands suddenly became very uncomfortable. Almost burning. And Nace was probably going to eat.
"I'll just go wash my hands first," Kris said, getting up without taking Nace's hand.
Ollie whined sadly at the lack of attention and Nace gave him a worried look right before Kris dashed to the bathroom.
He took a few deep breaths, avoiding looking at himself in the mirror. Then he thoroughly washed his hands with soap. He stopped when the skin started getting red. He didn't want Nace asking questions about that.
He found Nace setting up the table in the dinning room. He put down two plates. And on the left side, where Kris prefered to sit, there was a fork, a spoon and a knife he liked. His chest felt warm. He never explicitly told Nace this, but he noticed anyway.
"I wasn't sure if you ate already but I figured it won't hurt to put another plate for you."
"Thank you," Kris said quietly.
He sat down and only then did he dare to sneak a look at Nace, who sat at the opposite side of the table. Maybe it was the light. Or the fact that Kris felt shaky and Nace was always so solid and steady. Like Kris could lean on him and he would not crack under the weight Kris was carrying.
Whatever it was, it made tears suddenly run down his cheeks. Like the pressure caught up with him all at once and was now crushing his chest.
There was a sound of chair scrapping against the floor, and it seemed so loud at the moment Kris had to cover his ears. He was sobbing, he realized, almost distantly.
It felt like he was shifting in an out of his body. One moment he was so overwhelmed with all the sensations and in the other he felt completely numb. He knew he was crying but felt none of it.
Then the lights turned off and the radio that played in the background was silenced, too. All he could hear for the moment were his own sobs and heavy breathing.
"Kris?"
Nace's voice was soft and quiet. It didn't feel like someone scratching their nails over his ears. Kris slowly lowered his hands from his ears.
"Can I touch you?"
Kris considered it. He didn't think he could stand that yet, though. He shook his head.
"Okay. How about we go through the exercise we do with Bojan?"
Kris almost snapped that he wasn't having a panic attack. That this was different. That everything was just too much. But that would use up too much air. And Nace looked so worried. He nodded.
"Okay. Only focus on five things you can see, okay? You don't have to tell me which ones out loud, just count them."
He didn't have the strenght to roll his eyes. Instead, he counted. One, Nace. Two, red tablecoth with a horrendous Christmas pattern. Why did it have Christmas pattern? It was October.
"Don't get distracted," Nace gently reprimanded.
Right. Counting.
Three, the table. Four, the plate. Fifth...the fork.
He looked back at Nace and nodded once, indicating he was done.
"Alright. Four things you can touch?"
One, the hoodie he was wearing. Two, his jeans. Three, the chair he was sitting on. Four...
He reached out and carefully grasped Nace's shoulder. Well, a place between his shoulder and neck, so his hand was touching his shirt. It felt more bearable when it was him touching Nace and there was a layer if soft cotton between their skin.
"Three things you can hear."
Nace's voice. Faint buzzing of the refrigerator. Their heavy breathing.
He nodded again.
"Two things you can smell?"
Tomato soup on the table, steaming from the pot. Faint traces of Nace's cologone.
Another nod.
"One thing you can taste?"
Nothing. Just water he drank earlier. He supposed that counted, though. He nodded.
"Okay. Do you feel a bit better?"
He considered it. He felt exhausted but certainly less overwhelmed. And his hand on Nace's shoulder wasn't painful sensation, but just a neutral one. That was a good sign.
"Yes."
"Alright. Do you want to eat, or would you prefer to lie down on the couch for a bit?"
"Lie down."
This time, when Nace offered him his hand, Kris took it. It was warm and slight callused. Steady.
He took him to the living room and covered him with a blanket when Kris laid down. Turned off the lights.
"I will just go get my plate."
So that was how Kris ended up with his eyes closed, listening to Nace eating his soup. And really, it should have been an annoying sound but somehow...it wasn't.
Then Nace put his plate on the coffee table with a dull clank. Kris cracked his eyes open, just to see Nace looking at him.
"Can I get you water? Or juice? Or...something?"
"Water would be nice."
When Nace came back with a glass, he held it to Kris' lips instead of letting him take it. His cheeks warmed. He drank and tried not to think about how suggestive this looked like.
Nace quietly set the glass aside after he was done and sat back down. Silence streched.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
Kris huffed. He supposed he should. He did just barge into Nace's apartment and had a meltdown. Potentially scarred his dog, since Ollie was nowhere to be found.
"I just had a really shitty day. My coffee maching broke, so I had to get a coffee to go from a cafe, which meant I was almost ten minutes late to the practice. And you know how that went, you were there. Jan managed to cut his finger on a string badly and there was blood and I couldn't find my first aid kit because Bojan put it in the wrong drawer-"
"Kris. Breathe."
He fidgeted with his sleeve and took few deep breaths. In and out. In and out. He rubbed his hands over his jeans, letting the texture ground him.
"Right. And then I came home and I was scrolling through Instagram and someone mentioned an article that talked about me and my dad. So I looked it up and it went on to essentially explain how I will never measure up to him and they are sort of right because. No I won't, our careers are different anyway, but then I realized how fucking useless-"
He stopped as Nace took his hands in his own. He gently rubbed over his knuckles and suddenly Kris was tongue-tied.
"Sorry. Should have asked before touching you."
"It's okay."
More than okay, now. It was comforting. He didn't always like touch and not from anyone, but he didn't mind it now.
"You are not your dad and you don't have to be. You are your own person, with your own way of doing things."
Kris opened his mouth, but Nace raised his hand to stop him.
"No-don't interrupt me. I know you know that, but you still try so hard to be perfect all the time. Jesus, Kris you sometimes hold yourself to such impossible standard, it pains me to watch."
Kris simply stared at him. No one ever put it that way. It was always just "You don't have to me like your dad". But never "You don't have to be perfect at all, even in a way specific to you".
"Oh."
Nace's expression softened. He gently pulled him into a hug, Kris' face perfectly fitting between his shiulder and neck. Few tears escaped him as Nace stroked his hair.
"You are good enough as you are. You don't have to try. And you don't have to compete all the time with Bojan, either. Life isn't a competition."
Kris chuckled, despite the tears.
"Kind of feels like it for me."
"Because you never let yourself relax and just...be yourself. Breathe. Relax. I promise you are safe."
Nace's words slowly sank in and to his surprise, he felt like he could finally relax. Let all the bitterness slip away for a moment.
He pulled Nace closer, so they somehow both ended up lying on the couch that was certainly not made for teo men their size. Still, they managed.
"Can you help me with that?"
"With what? Being yourself?"
Kris rolled his eyes and slightly pulled back so he could look at Nace. He reached his hand out and cupped his face. Stroked his thumb over his cheek. Finally allowing himself to do it.
Nace's breath hitched, but he didn't pull away. His eyes carefully considered him.
"No. To relax."
"I don't think your definition of relaxing is a good idea right now."
Kris huffed. Maybe it was the bone deep exhaustion that started to settle in, or the fact that he figured that surely, this day can't get much worse. Whatever it was, it made him lean in, pressing a quick kiss to Nace's lips.
Nace didn't kiss him back.
"I'm sorry-"
"I am not rejecting you. I just don't think this is a good idea while you are this upset."
That was...infuriatingly reasonable. Still, Kris felt embarrassed and slightly disappointed. It felt like a rejection.
Nace sighed.
"Kris. I promise we can talk about this later. For now...how about you get some rest? You look tired."
Kris bit his lip. He was tired. But he was also very comfortable with Nace next to him. He snuggled back into his neck.
"Only if you stay."
Nace kissed the side of his head.
"Always."
Not everything was okay, and however his talk with Nace later went, not everything will magically get solved. But maybe for now...Kris could relax. Just for a bit.
With that as his last thought, he drifted off into a dreamless sleep. Safe and sound.

Day5: jealousy (angst)
I couldn’t bring myself to write about a breakup because no so here is some childish jealousy brought to you by long distance.
It had only been a few days since Jere had seen Bojan yet he couldn’t help himself but miss the Slovene. Keeping the band and Bojan’s Insta stories active and alert was something Jere found himself doing quite often. So it wasn’t surprising when Jere had been scrolling, that the notification of Bojan’s Instagram story came like a Christmas miracle. But that Christmas miracle however was soon exchanged for a bag of coals as his eyes landed on his boyfriend lounging on top of another man. That man in question being the British photographer Damon Baker, who Jere had only talked to on the phone a few times while Bojan set off to do other things. The guy was nice from what Jere could see, touchy but nice. He had no need to feel any sort of feelings towards Damon asides from neutral but now with this guys hands all over his gorgeous boyfriend, the feelings could only be summed up as red, bright red. Of course, he couldn’t fault Bojan, as the Slovene was known for his love of physical affection but when the person he engaged this action with looked the way they did and was able to appreciate the beauty which was Bojan, it definitely left a sour taste in the Finn’s mouth. Where Jere was all loudness and childishness, only being able to mirror his love into a song about boats that some fans had coined as huhagay. Damon was poised and confident, capturing Bojan in truly beautiful and also hot pictures that had left Jere reeling for the last week and a bit. There was no competition really, Bojan loved Jere but that couldn’t reassure the Finn as much as he’d like. Neither could watching the story over and over again, the more he watched the more he noticed. From the hand placements (far too close to Bojan’s ass for Jere’s liking), to the stares, to wait… did Bojan just kiss Damon’s neck! Oh this was—-
Bojan ❤️ is calling…..
“Hey babe you weren’t picking up your texts? Are you alright? You completely forgot about our arranged call.” Bojan starts, his words seeming to trip over one another as he puts the camera closer to his face. Something that never ceased to entertain Jere as his boyfriend shows off his unruly eyebrows and big brown eyes.
“I just doing stuff you know very busy, I’m sorry it slip mind”
“Mmm you sure? You look sad” Bojan says, a slight pout to his lips as he continued scanning the Finn’s face.
“I’m not sad I just…”
“Hey Bojan, do you know where I put the fishnets?” And as if the night couldn’t get worse, Damon Baker had to make a star appearance.
“Oh last time I checked Kris had them. Now what were you saying Jere?” Bojan said, centring his whole attention to Jere. How could Jere be mad at his boyfriend? He was the best thing to come out of last year and maybe that’s what made Jere so jealous?
“I’m feeling just fine, rakas”
The mood board is inspired by the 2007 movie stardust ahhhhh after star Bojan I couldn’t help but think of stardust

Image of orangutan wins National Geographic photography Competition
A photograph of an orangutan crossing a river in   Indonesia’s Tanjung Puting National Park will be your very best picture from National Geographic’s 2017 Nature Photographer of the Year competition.
The photograph, titled “Face to face in a river in Borneo,” was seized by Jayaprakash Joghee Bojan of Singapore. He also won $10,000, along with his picture will be published in National Geographic magazine also featured on the @NatGeo Instagram account.
After waiting patiently at the Sekoyner River while he was 5 ft deep in water, Bojan took the winning picture. He said: “While searching for wild orangutans … we observed this remarkable sight of the huge male crossing a river regardless of the fact there were crocodiles in the river. Their habitat has been depleted by rapid palm oil cultivation and when pushed to the edge these animals have learnt to adapt to the changing landscape. This is evidence, thinking about orangutans hate water rather than venture into a river”
“Sometimes you simply go blind when things like this occur,” Bojan explained.   “You are so trapped. You don’t know what is happening. You do not feel the pain, you do not feel the mosquito bites, so you do not feel the cold, because your mind is totally lost in what is happening before you”
Judges selected winners to get four different categories: aerials wildlife, landscapes and submerged. First-place winners at each one of the groups received $2,500.

In winter when all oceans freeze, water creatures gather around the pockets in the lake. Some of them would catch fish, even while the rest are determined to steal fish from others or perhaps capture water birds. White-tailed Eagles are such birds, constantly searching for a chance to steal, and in the meantime that they figure out how to confront and struggle with everybody, even their conspecifics.

A macaque. The Jigokudani snow fighter park has become a major tourist hot spot, bringing people from throughout the world expecting to get a glimpse of the remarkable creatures huddled together in hot springs. But because of the warmer weather during this time, the macaques were found lazing about on some rocks instead of spending their time.

A fantastic gray owl hunting rabbits in a area at New Hampshire. This bird was a rare visitor to the area and was worth the 7 1/2 hour push to view it. The owl called or was not baited and this picture is through a natural search. Baiting is now a hot topic lately and it is very unfortunate that people do it for the sake of a photograph. With these owls specifically if you are patient enough you will see them search. They aren’t shy nor really intimidated.

That is the nature in its raw form stone from the stomach of our planet spilled over the side of the sea shores, before plummeting through a lava tube under the ocean, exposed to the atmosphere for a brief moment. You will find hissing explosions and noises as it struck the water. Cooler parts moved just like candle wax and also a section of lava collapsed along with the molten lava fanned out. At a distance you might feel the warmth. This is how the Hawaiian islands are made

Have attempted and failed a lot of times hoping to get lightning after dark in the Grand Canyon. Years of driving up there to just come home empty handed. It is a 3.5 hour trip one way to sit at a place and wait and wait and wait rather than just hope to get a storm to pop-up, but for it to stand out within the Canyon and also not to rain. So many things need to come together to exercise. And on this night, it did.

NBA trade deadline: the winners (Pelicans) and losers (Kings)
The New Orleans Pelicans took a step forward, the Sacramento Kings took a step back, the LA Lakers hit the reset button and the Boston Celtics went nowhere Heading into NBA trade deadline day, there was a very real fear that the biggest move of the year had already been made. But while nothing was likely to top the New Orleans Pelicans deal for DeMarcus Cousins, there was still plenty of talk that either the Chicago Bulls Jimmy Butler or the Indiana Pacers Paul George could find their way to a contender before the 3pm ET deadline.
Instead, for better or worse, both players remained where they were. It was all rather disappointing. There was, however, plenty of action, as some teams managed to improve themselves over the last few days, while others did the opposite thing.
Winners
Cleveland Cavaliers And its now official: the Cleveland Cavaliers have won the trade deadline.
DJ Gallo was partly joking when he concluded our live trade deadline coverage with that line, but only partly. Butler, George and the New York Knicks Carmelo Anthony stayed with their own teams while Cousins remained in the Western Conference. With no team in the east really making a major move, the Cavaliers path to the NBA finals remains just as clear as it did a few days ago.
New Orleans Pelicans Sure, maybe it wont pan out. There are enough question marks surrounding Cousins that its possible he will end up being a bigger headache than an asset. Its also possible Cousins and Anthony Davis wont make a good fit when it comes down to actually sharing the court. No matter what, however, it feels like there is no possible future where he doesnt end up being more productive than Buddy freaking Hield.
Brooklyn Nets In sending off Bojan Bogdanovic and Chris McCullough to the Washington Wizards for Andrew Nicholson, the immediately waived Marcus Thornton and a lottery-protected first round pick in 2017, the Nets finally made a deal looking ahead towards the future. While it wasnt super-great that they had to absorb Nicholsons contract, thats the price for picking up a desperately needed draft pick. Picking up the Houston Rockets KJ McDaniels right before the deadline was also a nice, low-risk move.
Houston Rockets The Rockets are one of the few teams that might actually have an actual shot at winning the finals, even if its not a particularly great one, so picking up Lou Williams from the Lakers for Corey Brewer and a first-round pick might end up paying off.
Dallas Mavericks Have we all forgotten how good Nerlens Noel could be? Well, apparently the Philadelphia 76ers did. Although hes not much of an offensive weapon, he was one of the better defensive bigs in the game and certainly a more useful piece that Jahlil Okafor, the player Philadelphia actually should have been looking to give away. Solid move for the Mavericks.
Emojis This was the year where NBA players realized they could single-handedly create a media storm just by tweeting out an ambiguous emoji or two. The Boston Celtics Isaiah Thomas, in fact, had turned it into an art form by trade deadlines time. First, he convinced all of Celtics Twitter that a major move was coming by tweeting a pair of eyes:
Isaiah Thomas (@Isaiah_Thomas) February 21, 2017
And, as the deadline approached, he noted that time was ticking for his team to make a move, a move which ended up never happening.
Isaiah Thomas (@Isaiah_Thomas) February 23, 2017
Toronto Raptors PJ Tucker from the Phoenix Suns for Jared Sullinger and a few picks? Sure, thats fine.
Minnesota Timberwolves Theyre winners just for deciding against trading for Derrick Rose.
Losers
Sacramento Kings Kings owner Vivek Ranadive thinks Hield has Steph Curry potential. GM Vlade Divac has publicly admitted that he had passed on a better deal involving Cousins, which seems like something one admits only if theyre actively trying to get fired. In the past few days, the Kings have made a firm push to establish themselves as one of the most poorly run sports franchises in the country.
Jim Buss and Mitch Kupchak Its been a miserable week for the two of them. First they were fired by Jeannie Buss and essentially replaced by a failed TV host/terrible Twitter user. Then, the Lakers started to look like an actual respectable franchise again the second they were out of the picture. Sending sixth man Lou Williams to the Rockets for Corey Brewer and a first-rounder looks to be a solid move for a team finally dedicating itself to a franchise reboot. Plus, it might turn out that Paul George could be looking at Los Angeles as his final destination.
Philadelphia 76ers First the 76ers received Tiago Splitter from the Atlanta Hawks for Ersan Ilyasova. Because they needed yet another center! Its okay because they made room by shipping Nerlens Noel to the Dallas Mavericks for Andrew Bogut, who they are expecting to buy out, along with Justin Anderson and a protected first round pick, which will most likely end up being two second-round draft picks. Yes, Okafor is still on the roster. No, none of this makes any sense.
Nerlens Noel, right, is heaidng to Dallas. Photograph: Carlos Osorio/AP
Chicago Bulls Well, the good news is that Jimmy Butler is still on the team, which would have been enough to keep them in, at the very least, the incomplete column if not the win column. Then, at the literal last minute, Bulls did make a trade! They sent Doug McDermott, Taj Gibson and a second-round pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Joffrey Lauvergne, Anthony Morrow and Cameron Payne. Yes, Chicago sent the pick in this scenario, which puts them solidly in the losers column here, especially if one factors in their failed talks with the Boston Celtics.
Denver Nuggets The Nuggets spent much of the day making a huge offer for Paul George. They ended up with Roy Hibbert.
Incomplete
Boston Celtics The Celtics were unable to make a deal for Paul George or Jimmy Butler, and so will once again sit on their treasure trove of assets. Was this a wise move, considering that theyre probably a year away from actually having a legitimate shot at making the finals, or have they squandering their last realistic chance of landing the star player they desperately need?
Indiana Pacers The good news for the Pacers? Paul George remains with the team. The bad news? The current status quo in Indiana is clearly unsustainable and George is apparently all about joining the Lakers either through free agency or a trade.
