Due to a current boycott of Paramount and Paramount+ I'm watching this from a pirate cove and I'd encourage you to do the same and without further ado live blogging of Star Trek Discovery and as always 🌟SPOILERS🌟
Season 5 Episode 3
I knew it's a unpopular opinion but I like the design of the 32nd century ships they feel so advanced from regular trek that it really helps out the feel of being so far in the future
A joined Trill oh how lucky we are imagine if it wasn't and the trail just went cold
God Damn the Crossfield Class is getting some great angles here
Trill Zhian'tara time
Oooooh I like Saru new diplomat outfit
Giving Saru a plant is nice and fitting
Ah Rayner is getting along with the Discovery crew like a rusty nail and a uncovered foot
I like this Jinaal Bix seems a bit untrustworthy but I'm liking it
Is that a Selay? I always thought they looked cool wish we'd seen more of them tbh
I looked it up my complaint from last week has been solved all that odd looking aliens from the background of 32nd century Discovery have been named! The wonderful Facian, Deakohn, Ckaptir, Sarrotheyn, Schlerm and Hornish all have names and even logos now yipee!!
Mr. Duvin your sounding like the Vulcan purist yourself 🤨
Saurians are Asexual damn just like me for real
Adira and Gray break up? :(
I heard a rumor that Paramount was purposely ending any lgbt representation on Nu-Trek from Seven and Raffi on Picard, Mariner and Jennifer on Lower Decks and SNW didn't have any to erase anyway but I personally always thought that was the reason Discovery got canceled was all the lgbt representation baked into the show you can't get rid off or write off
Saru noooo don't listen to Druvin noooo
Yes T'Rina saw straight through Druvin fear mongering
Twas all a test of morality Bix? I actually like that
Awww Saru apologize
Slug-O-Cola??
Tzenkethi space you say
I'm not big on the game Star Trek Online too much fighting not enough exploration but I did like the appearance and lore they gave the Tzenkethi but I doubt they'll appear on screen but I also wouldn't be too bothered if Discovery went their own way with it
I'm liking the optimism of the future theme this season has so far
A tracking device I was wondering how the bonnie and clyde duo would keep up because I doubt that they'd pass any test
Another really good episode I enjoyed quite a bit and while I've always been neutral towards it Saru and T'Rina has been growing on me
Small edit: I just read Lower Decks is also canceled after 5 seasons maybe it's just the new thing also I forgot to mention how happy I was to see Reno again

september reading
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
disclaimer when i say reading what i mean is that i Have Been Reading and may not have finished yet.
pax romana ★★★★
i got this as a gift for someone and liked it so much when reading that i went and downloaded an epub of it online for myself too. good gift for the classical studies student in your life. there is a glossy color page spread in the middle of it and many photos of sources 😍
seven deadly sins ★★★★
this book was easy to get into with my basic knowledge of the sport and an engaging read. i also go crazy for a 'seven deadly sins for seven wins'. some reviewers have pointed out that they heard way too much about walsh's own life in this book but i didn't have a problem (person who loved amis' koba the dread voice... yeah...) cheating in sports and the omerta of silence is an interest of mine.
a big enough god ★★★★
haven't finished reading this yet but we are off to a promising start! i'm always interested in reading seminal texts from the past century and see how well they hold up and what value they retain in the present (published in 1994).
one of those mothers ★★★
took it out as part of my library's two week bestie loan program. have to admit that i've been lacking in appreciation and reading of nz authors which is something that i am working to rectify... not much to say about this book other than that it is solid 3.5 stars for me. i had some issues with the way the dual timelines worked (the twists of the past timeline being revealed had me going 🤨 idk about that.... if that had happened 9 months ago!! i think i would still be thinking about that in my present timeline????) but overall this was a good book if you wanted to pick up and read something in one sitting. did have some fun with the author's crawl in the "gutters of the [white nz] middle class" too.
koba the dread ★★★★
rip martin amis sorry it took some great obituaries and thinkpieces written about you post mortem for me to decide that i should start reading you. fascinating book. if you hated walsh injecting in parts of his life into seven deadly sins you might not be able to enjoy this book either. however when your father is kingsley amis i think you definitely have a right to be injecting in stories of your relationship with him and life.
fake accounts ★★★★
i have not finished this book!! this and 'the list' were two books that i saw in store and had down on my tbr, so glad that i am making a start on it 🫡. oyler's long sentences and use of multiple clauses gives me hope for myself in the future. may we all have bright careers ahead of us.

Dunk & Egg are mostly on track.
Game Of Thrones prequel series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, based on George R.R. Martin’s ‘Dunk and Egg’ books, will begin filming in spring 2024, pending a resolution to the SAG-AFTRA strike. The series, which will be set a century before the events of Game Of Thrones, will centre on Ser Duncan the Tall and his companion Egg. HBO first announced the series back in April. George R.R. Martin and Ira Martin will write and executive produce Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms, with House Of The Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis also serving as executive producers.
That bit about "pending a resolution to the SAG-AFTRA strike" is interesting. If filming for Season 2 of House of the Dragon was not affected by the strike, why would filming for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms? Isn't the latter going to be filmed in the UK with mostly UK actors like HotD?
Just wondering. 🤨
Regardless, stand with SAG-AFTRA!
