This is an American Lead Pencil Company penholder possibly the one shown in the 1914 catalog as the All-Nickel Penholder No. 820 Large, Plain Barrel, Reversible Tip. This 4 ¾ inch dip pen holder is designed to house the nib unit safely in the barrel when not in use and reversed and inserted into the barrel when needed, making the pen holder convenient for pockets and purses. The barrel is stamped AMERICAN over LEAD PENCIL CO. over the logo over NEW YORK. This is a Venus President fountain pen in blue striped celluloid c. 1944-1946. It's a 5 1/4 inches long lever fill fountain pen with a cap and barrel made from a striped celluloid similar to that used on Parker striped Duofolds. It has a large 14 karat gold nib with VENUS stamped in a banner at the top over 14K over MADE IN U.S.A. The clip face is stamped VENUS. The trim is gold plated. This model was made in several two-toned colors and solid black. There are no cap and barrel stampings. A product of the American Pencil Company of New York, it was heavily advertised and sold for $3.50 and with a matching pencil was $4.90.
