imagine if Millicent ended up with lasombra!Astarion as a childer. she wouldn't torture him, but he'd definitely have a fear of shovels and being clipped around the ear

So I follow you because I stumbled on your Witcher fic on AO3. But the tags on the "unskippable cutscene" post got me curious. What are your headcanons on the Plague Tale games?
God, you've really gone and done it now
Idk if you've played the second game, so if you haven't uhhhh don't read this? idk, suit yourself, I'm gonna share one headcanon that isn't too spoilery (meaning it's from the middle of the game and not the end)
So my headcanon is that before Arnaud was a knight, he was a sailor. I think this is pretty much confirmed by various things, some in the context of the game, others outside of it.
[Edit: I have had to reformat this post because apparently on dash if you click expand on a long post it automatically opens a read more, so I'm moving the read more up here for spoiler reasons. It's not what I'd like, but oh well.]
Firstly, my in-game evidence
Hugo and Amicia go through the game telling multiple people about the island they're searching for, but no one can ever pinpoint it from the description they give. Then at the beginning of chapter 7, we learn that Arnaud knows not only exactly what island they're looking for, he knows its name and location (as evidenced by the fact he tells Amicia it's a "ten mile fucking swim" from where they are).
Now, how did he learn about La Cuna? How did he learn the siblings were looking for it? Surely not from Hugo at the end of chapter 6, because that was a very time sensitive situation, as Amicia was about to be eaten by rats. And besides, at that point, Arnaud had already hunted them down again, but obviously had no longer any intentions of killing Amicia, since he stepped up to Hugo instead of just watching her be eaten from afar.
This means that he knew about the island before he made his deal with Hugo. So my guess is that it has to do with why he was looking for Vaudin in chapter 2 (a question i've seen pop up multiple times online). It's never exactly specified whether the Count was affiliated with the order (or if it was I missed it in the chaos that was the last third of the game), but I don't think it's a coincidence that he moved to the very place where the macula originated. SO I think that Arnaud was looking for Vaudin to trace Victor through the order. Obviously Amicia got there first (probably leading Arnaud to believe she works with the order, fuelling his disdain for her), but what if Arnaud eventually made it into Vaudin's lab? What if he saw the mural of La Cuna and recognised it? And how would he recognise it from just a picture? That's right, by being familiar with the mediterranean sea.
Another piece of evidence is that he knows a lot about ships. In Chapter 7, when the siblings crest the hill and overlook the sea, Arnaud comes up from behind them and tells them about Sophia's ship. A discreet, fast ship. I don't know about you, but I don't think I could tell whether a ship is fast just from looking at it. Discreet, maybe, but not fast.
We know from Arnaud that Sophia owes him for not killing her when he was ordered to. And wouldn't you agree that it would be pretty idiotic to send footmen to deal with smugglers in their sailing ships? You need sailors for that. Preferably soldiers who were once sailors, so they can both capture the smugglers' ship and do away with the smugglers themselves.
And then, once they get to the ship, Sophia trusts Arnaud to get the ship ready to set sail. And when the anchor gets stuck, he knows right away that it was blocked. He doesn't think it might have caught on something, he knows its blocked, probably from experience and the way it feels. Then, when it comes to hoisting the sail, he knows right away which ropes to pull, and he says he'll "take port-side". If he didn't know about ships, he would hardly know that term - I sure don't.
Later, during an optional scene at the beginning of chapter 8, Sophia says she needs a hand because "the sail's pulling port side", so Arnaud takes charge and tells Amicia to pull the rope on the other side, and that he'll give her some slack on his. Again, he knows which ropes to pull and how to fix Sophia's problem, and she doesn't feel the need to instruct the two on what to do. The same thing happens again in chapter 14, as well.
This man knows what he's doing. Clearly he has sailing experience.
Now for my evidence from sources other than in-game. There are more serious endgame spoilers here, so don't read if you haven't finished the game yet (Pii, if you're reading this, click off now. I mean it. Don't.)
Tumblr media
Right, so in the gameplay reveal trailer for Requiem, Harry Myers, who is Arnaud's voice actor, recites the poem "Requiem" by Robert Louis Stevenson (I know, I went insane when I learned the poem is called Requiem too).
youtube
When I first heard it I already thought it actually fit Arnaud well even outside of his VA performing it, but I told myself I was just being delusional, and that it was obviously intended for Amicia and Hugo, since they are the focus of the trailer.
Well.
I was wrong.
Tumblr media
This set of tweets pretty much confirms that the poem was chosen with Arnaud in mind.
And with THAT in mind, the line "Home is the sailor, home from sea" is also applied to him. Maybe this seems like a reach, maybe I'm reading too much into it because I want it to be true, but I would not put it past the people who chose a poem whose title matches the game title to do this on purpose.
So yeah.
this is my case for why Arnaud Malpart used to be a sailor.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk. I DID turn into an unskippable cutscene.

I just played. . . .
Tumblr media
This was a sequel I had been looking forward to and it didn't disappoint. I will say though, it feels more like a part two than an actual sequel as it picks up shortly after the first game ends with our sister and brother duo, Amicia and Hugo, arriving in Provence in the hopes an order of Alchemists can help Hugo deal with the Macula in his blood.
The gameplay is similar to the first with the player controlling Amicia who specializes in stealth and range weapons. You'll have to deal with men with weapons and rat swarms while navigating a large environment. What I've noticed playing the game is there is no one or two ways of reaching a goal.
You start at one end of the map and have the reach the other end, but the means of arriving at your goal is numerous. If one route is too iffy, look for another. Stick to buildings or tall grass if that's preference.
Tumblr media
Also, Amicia has a new set of skills that level up based on your play style. If you rely on stealth more, then you gain points for sneaking past guards and not being caught or seen. If you prefer to take the more aggressive approach such as killing guards to get them out of the way, then more points are put in fighting. There is also a skill set for alchemy.
Just as in the last game, alchemy plays a big part. Amicia will find chests littered throughout the world she can open and find ingredients to throw fire, distinguishers, and other such tools with her sling. And there are work benches where she can upgrade equipment to carry more items or be more effective.
The environment is lovely to look at, whether it's a peaceful day or twisted by the Macula, I love the detail that went into the game and I know I haven't explored everything I could have.
Tumblr media
This brings me to the heart of the game, the story of love between siblings. Massive spoilers below about story and plot.
The heart is the love Amicia has for her young brother, beset with a curse the powers of this world seek to use. It's amazing how at the beginning of Innocence, she found Hugo a bother as a brother she barely knew and felt was favored by their mother, but at the end of it and you can also see it in Requiem, they have formed an unbreakable bond. Together, they overcame the Inquisition that sought to steal Hugo's power and hope the answer to curing the Macula could be found in Provence.
Unfortunately, we wouldn't have a sequel if that was the case.
Things quickly go downhill as it turns out the Order has no better answers for Hugo's condition save for experimentation and locking him away, however, Hugo has a dream of an island which made hold the answers they need.
I feel for these kids. They get moments of respite such as playing a game at a festival, helping a lost goat, or playing with a new friend, but everything always turns to shit for them. Their new friend is part of a family of territorial bee keepers, the island they seek is ruled by a cult, and the rat swarms are powerful enough to topple cities!
Amicia reaches her limits several times throughout this tale, but hangs tough for Hugo whose confused and scared by his power. He's a nice young boy who just wants friends and to play, but is often at the center of power hungry tyrants who want to use him for power.
Truth be told, I saw the ending coming and still dreaded to see it when it happened. Poor Amicia.
Tumblr media
Well, it looks like Amicia and Hugo's story has ended. Plague Tale has a decent conclusion, but with a means of a third game in the future, though it likely won't feature any of our favorite characters.
It has me excited to think about the new Carrier and Protector in modern times such as WWII or maybe something earlier like 1800s London.
Anyway, if this is the last game of this series, then I'm satisfied with the ending. I highly recommend both games, Innocence and Requiem and watch Amicia and Hugo's journey together.

[2/2] Tenbyou no Uta : Dream of Love [END]
----- [2/2] Tenbyou no Uta : Dream of Love [END] || A Taka Radjiman & Amicia Michella [NIJISANJI ID] AU
Tumblr media
Summary :  She wanted to scold him, make him listen to her just once. But the most important thing for her at that time was how she could hear the voice she missed so much. When Taka Radjiman prefers his vague dream, there is someone who keeps hoping that he will wake up soon.
WC : 1348 words.
Warning : Grammar errors, kinda OOC, WMMAP references, Ikemen Vampire references, angst with comfort, etc.
Disclaimer : Everything written here is FICTITIOUS. The personas written here are based on the avatar of the characters as vtubers, not the person behind it. This AU is not written to offend anyone. If you are not a TakaCia shipper or don't like this ship, I suggest you to just keep scrolling. Enjoy.
A/N : Final-year assignments are really killing me. I'm having a hard time finishing this part. This is part 1 for twitter and tumblr. Enjoy!
CIA was still sitting beside Taka’s bed. However, now she didn’t just focus on her sketch sheets. She did what her friends told her to take care of herself, so Taka didn't have to worry about anything other than himself when he woke up.
After closing the lunch box her friends sent for her in turns, Cia put the box on the table. She went to wash her hands. After that, she dropped her gaze back on Taka who was still unconscious.
She sat back down and sighed. "Don't you have any intention of waking up?" Cia asked while caressing Taka's pale cheeks softly. "The doctor said you can still hear me. Then, wake up!”
How could Cia expect an answer from someone who was unconscious? In the end, her words were only answered by the silence and the sound of the heart-rate monitor connected to Taka.
Cia hasn't done much in these two years since Taka was involved in the accident. She will continue to be by his side, only accompanied by her drawing equipment. She will leave only if she gets a job or errands to do, and even after that, Cia did it all in hurry because she wanted to be back by Taka's side.
Cia leaned back, busy with her drawing. Until she was bored, Cia put her drawing equipment down.
“Taka, wake up,” Cia started to plead. Her voice was hoarse from holding back tears. “I swear to God, I want to scold you!” A sob escaped her lips as she scolded him. However, Cia gave up. She buried her face in the white sheets where Taka lay. It was just a single tear. Surely, Taka would forgive her for one stupid tear.
But not long, Cia flinched when she felt something lightly touch her hand. She immediately straightened herself. "T-Taka?" Cia was silent for a moment, confirming what happened to Taka.
Her chartreuse eyes grew wider in disbelief as she watched the body in front of her started to move more. And finally, the obsidian-like eyes she had been yearning for opened up to her. "Taka," Cia muttered, holding back tears.
Taka, who had just opened his eyes was lost in thought for a moment before finally turning his head to look at the pretty eyes of the person who was calling him faintly. "Cia," Taka whispered weakly.
Cia nodded. The tears that worth for two years finally flooded her eyes before falling down her cheeks. Cia was actually became the first person Taka meets when he wakes up.
Taka's hand, which was still entangled by the infusion hose tried to reach Cia's cheek. A cold yet gentle hand touched her cheeks which were already wet with tears, making her cry even more. "Are you crying again?" he asked in a hoarse, weak voice. Naturally, it's been two years since Taka has used his vocals to speak. "What a crybaby..." he mocked weakly.
There was nothing that Cia missed more than the nagging voice of Taka. She was actually happy when she could hear the scold Taka threw at her for the first time in two years.
After being examined and transferred to the inpatient room, Taka and Cia just sat in silence. Neither of them knew where to start.
However, Cia was startled when she felt someone's hand patting the top of her head. She looked up to find Taka who was already looking at her. "You don't have to act strong," he said, cold but full of reassurance. "You want to scold me, don't you?"
"N-no? I mean, H-how did you know?! I mean--” Cia was shocked.
"I heard everything faintly, but I couldn't wake up," he replied before turning back to Cia. "So, I'm sure you really want to let your worries out to me," Taka continued. However, he dropped his gaze on the thin blanket covering his lap. "I want you to scold me for being so stupid," he whispered very quietly.
Cia clenched her fists so hard that her knuckles turned white. She wanted to cry, but she wouldn't until she could convey all her annoyance and worry to the man in front of her. Meanwhile, Taka just stared at the woman, waiting for her to speak.
"What you did two years ago really hurt me," Cia immediately started with quite hurtful words. “I was so sad when you won't listen to me. And I was also very sad when you don't even consider my worries at all."
Cia's voice began to waver as tears started to roll down her cheeks. Yes, Cia who was usually calm began to raise her voice.
“You are free to hate me. I promise I will listen to whatever you want to say, and I will consider your every word,” Taka dared not look at Cia who was already half crying.
"That is not what I mean!" Annoyed, Cia raised her voice, making Taka flinched and forced him to look at her. “Do you know how worry am I when my instincts told me something bad was going to happen to you?! And you don’t even care about it, saying you'd be fine, telling me not to trust my own instincts, but you got yourself involved in something bad and didn't wake up after that! I swear to God, that is the most annoying lie and I have hated the most in my life!” Cia, who managed to say all of that in one breath, yelled.
Taka widened his eyes perfectly when he saw this new side of Cia. "I'm ready to face the worst," Cia murmured. Taka looked up as he began to hear a sob escape from Cia's lips. “It would be a lie if I didn't expect you to wake up and everything would continue normally. I'm even ready if I can't hold your hand again."
Hearing the last sentence of Cia's words, Taka's heart dropped to his stomach. Not being able to hold each other's hands is probably his greatest nightmare. And now, he realized where he had gone wrong, the mistakes where once he did it, everything will disappear from his world. The nightmare he feared the most would happen.
“Don't you also have something you need to tell me—ah!”
Before Cia could continue her question, Taka grabbed Cia's hand, forcing her to stand up from her seat. With the small amount of energy he had, Taka sat Cia on the edge of his bed. "Taka—”
"I'm sorry," Taka whispered as he hugged Cia in his arms. Tears started to fall from the corners of his eyes. “I should have listened to you… I should have not yelled at you and treated you in such a way. Please forgive me."
With that, Cia let all her guard down. She broke in tears, soaking Taka's clothes. But both couldn’t give a damn about that. The only thing he cared about was how he could convince Cia that he meant his apology and regretted what he had done.
"I hate you, Taka! I really despise you!” Cia shouted in the midst of her tears. In contrast to her heart, Cia tightened her hug on Taka.
Taka's grip on Cia tightened. "I know," he whispered, kissing the woman's crown. "I know."
“You were really harsh to me!” she sobbed.
"That's my fault. Please forgive me." he apologized to her again.
“And you never listen to me!”
     “I really am sorry, Cia.”
Taka is a man who doesn't want to make others worry about him. But without realizing it, it’s only made people more worry about him. "I'm sorry I left you for too long," he whispered again.
“I should have woken up earlier and not fall asleep in a beautiful dreams about you, dreams that even I don't want people to wake me up. What is wrong with me?" Taka asked to himself, letting Cia hear his monologue. “Why would I prefer something so vague over the real thing?”
“I would get down on my knees and beg if I should. Please, don't cry. I'm sorry." ----[FIN]

I have had terrible thoughts about the scenario in which Evie was destroyed... Kara would genuinely become a terror. Fuck the Masquerade, fuck the family, the Camarilla, the Sabbat, the Anarchs, the entire fucking world because her precious daughter is gone.
The thing is, she’s got a short temper so her first reaction is to destroy everything in her immediate vicinity and rage until she can’t rage any longer. And that's when the Scholar takes over. The rage doesn’t break, but the anger burns out just enough for her to think. She delves into her studies, perfects her craft of Oblivion, stares into the abyss until it stares back, and she plots.
Kara was never much for politics, but her historical studies have given her a mind for tactics. She can pick apart an enemy by means of attrition, and knows how to hurt them, bleed them, flush them out of their hiding places. She finds out who’s responsible for Evie’s destruction and she finds every last person connected to them; family, friends, allies, associates, even the loosest of threads is enough. One by one, she picks at the threads, buys favours, turns allies on each other and then destroys them. It could take years, but she's patient. She's got all the time in the world. She'll survive as long as she needs to if it means she gets to see them burn.
By the time Evie’s killer realises someone is after them, their network is on fire and they can’t pinpoint where it’s coming from. Evie might well be an afterthought for them by now, as its been years now, and Kara is perhaps the least well known of Millicent’s children. Amicia is a business woman, the lover of a Prince, everyone knows who she is. Sullivan is less well known, but he has connections, a network of his own, there are people that know of him.
Kara? Her connections were largely Sabbat, and she lost most of them when the Sabbat fell. Anyone who knows of her now are mostly scholars, and the most they know is that she keeps out of politics whenever possible. She doesn’t tend to make enemies if she can help it, and she prefers to keep to herself. They might know about her having a daughter, but wouldn’t necessarily know enough about her and everything that’s going on to connect her to the attacks. They wouldn’t assume she’d wage a personal war against anyone. So precious few people would actually realise it was her, and the ones who know have seen just how far gone she is are either in full support of her actions or they've seen what she does to the people who cross her and don't fancy sharing that fate.
And if she draws SI attention? All the better. She needs blood after all, and the blood bags are just lining up to feed her now.
She just. Doesn’t care anymore. She’s on a warpath. If the Camarilla figured it out and put her on the Red List, she’d just laugh and promise to add them to her list. And pray that Sullivan and Beckett weren’t supposed to be looking out for Evie that night, because they’ll be on the list too. Morality, humanity, family, none of it means anything to her anymore. Her revenge is her touchstone now, it's what keeps her chained to sentience and keeps her from becoming a wight.
And if an opportunity presented itself to get Evie back? If a Hecata or necromancer or even an Antediluvian told her there was a way to restore her daughter? I promise you, she will go full Delilah Briarwood to see it done. She will kill anyone and everyone that gets in her way. She will break the world, shatter its foundations and tear free the bones of the earth to serve her purpose, and she will not give a flying fuck about anything else. No matter who tries to stop her.
Amicia has weird fucked up blood and an artificially lowered generation? That’s adorable, because Kara is a mother scorned by the world, she has the power of the Abyss, and she has literally nothing left to lose. Her sister won’t stop her, her mother won’t, and neither will her brother. Nothing and no one will stand in her way, and she will do whatever it takes to spite the world.
But she’s not like Amicia, who will go all in unless someone else reigns her in. Kara is tactical, and even though she’s completely unhinged, she knows better than to rage in the streets or to walk into her enemy’s castle and go beserk on them there. She’s tactical, she’s patient, she will see it all come down around her. Time isn’t an issue. It could take her a thousand years, but she will bring it down, she will avenge her daughter and herself, and she’ll force the world to bend to her will. And if others find her, others who feel betrayed as she does, who want their children back, well. She won’t turn them away.
...Kara would be a very scary lady if anything happened to Evie okay.
