Tried watching this video (the only existing evidence of the creel clock livestream countdown for the s4 trailer), which is apparently where the 'byler static kiss' originated.
The stream lasted 24 hours and was removed from YouTube shortly after airing. And so unfortunately, this is all we’ve got.
From what I can see, even watching at 0.25 playback speed, there was no static kiss, at least not at this particular time of the countdown, which was right before the trailer dropped at the end of the stream.
However, there is indeed a lot of static in this countdown. Like it’s kind of unnecessary tbh, with it even carrying through over to the trailer.
Also tv static in general tends to be mostly white. Not always, but usually color tends to come into play when there is an actual image projecting, only it's not fully visible bc of whatever reason, and so you get like this mixture of static and image.
Tumblr media
THIS
VS.
THIS
Tumblr media
When this happens, what you get is all sorts of colors (the colors that make up the image).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's almost as if there was a specific image they were using as a source to juxtapose discreetly as the static itself.
So it is interesting that the byler static kiss has very similar coloring to the static that we saw throughout the countdown...
Tumblr media
It’s entirely possible this image popped up more visibly at a different time within those 24 hrs, but we'll never know bc it's lost in history (minus the existing screenshot of course), which is pretty unfortunate.
For those that don’t know, there were also scenes from past seasons shown at the top of each hour for the countdown, along with other b-roll footage filmed specifically for this countdown scattered throughout.
So I do wonder if this static also accompanied each of those top of the hour recaps? Bc if this image did indeed come from the countdown, if there was a way we could actually find this exact still within the countdown, that would be crazy. I would fully believe it was intentional bc like wtf...??
Unfortunately, that’s not possible.

so i've been seeing ppl talking about finn wolfhard "love songs" playlist on spotify and how he made it for byler. (he also made a playlist for his character richie so making this wouldn't be out of the blue for him).
Tumblr media
i honestly thought it was a stretch at first but after further analysis... it's too perfect to not relate to byler (unless finn wolfhard has a love triangle situation going on himself).
anyways here's my analysis of each song on the playlist! (i'll only be talking about 6/7 because one of the songs is in an east asian language that i do not understand!!)
1. Boys Don't Cry - The Cure
so the first song on the playlist is boys don't cry which has been talked about and analysed multiple times because we see a poster of the song in wills bedroom. and although people say that it's will song, i believe that it relates to mike more! especially in the lyrics:
I would say I'm sorry if I thought that it would change your mind.
But I know that this time I have said too much, been too unkind.
we all know that mike wheeler says stuff he doesn't mean to (evident in the s3+4 byler fight) and he has a hard time apologizing. not only that but we don't really see mike getting emotional! will isn't afraid to cry but mike is. anyways this song has been analyzed lots already so moving on to #2
2. Let Her Go - Mac Demarco
i'm not gonna lie, when i first saw this song i was shocked to the very core because of how much it realtes to the mikewillel love triangle. the first lyrics being:
Tell her that you love her, if you really love her.
But if your heart just ain't sure, let her know.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
obviously mike can't tell her that he loves her because he doesn't even know if he truly loves eleven or not. (and when mike did end up telling eleven that he loves her, there is obvious hesitation coming from mike and even el didn't believe him).
Growing by the hour, love just like a flower.
But when the flower dies, you've got to say goodbye and let her go.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
hello???? literally the flowers that mike got her in ep2 and then we see the same flowers dead in the last episode. (not to mention this is when el hasn't talked to mike much in a couple days and their relationship is rocky). so is mike finally going to let el go?
3. Lovesong - The Cure
ok this song is absolutely adorable just look at the lyrics:
Whenever I'm alone with you, you make me feel like I am home again.
Whenever I'm alone with you, you make me feel like I am whole again.
Whenever I'm alone with you, you make me feel like I am young again.
Whenever I'm alone with you, you make me feel like I am fun again.
at the beginning of season 4, we see mike being closed off and definitely not like himself. he was a shitty friend to will at the airport and rink-o-mania because el was by his side. but once el had to leave to regain her powers, we started seeing more of the old mike as he spent time alone with will. i assume that will makes mike feel like he's home again even though they're in a completely different state and he makes him feel young again just how they were in season 2 (especially with the crazy together parallel in ep9).
However far away, I will always love you.
However long I stay, I will always love you.
i mean, come on even when they were in different states, they still loved each other! sure things were rocky the first few days mike came to california but then they went right back to being inspeperable!
4. Africa - Toto
this song has been used before in stranger things specifically in season 1 episode 1 in a stancy scene. and although there are multiple meanings behind this song, the more accurate one to our situation is "This song tells the story of a man who comes to Africa and must make a decision about the girl who comes to see him." in this case, mike comes to california and has to make a decision about el.
Hurry boy, she's waiting there for you.
It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you.
we all know that el is infatuated with mike and is the first to meet him at the airport and she has clearly been waiting for spring break in order to see him again. as for the second line, mike and el are obviously bonded by trauma which makes it so difficult for the pair to break up. mike will have to go through a lot in order to end things with el in order to be with will.
I seek to cure what's deep inside, frightened of this thing that I've become.
we all know that mike has internal struggles and lashes out at people (especially will) when he didn't mean to.
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had.
and when they both find out that their love is requited, then what!!
5. Inbetween Days - The Cure
this song is about having to choose between two people, and feeling guilty because you don't know which one to choose! basically a love triangle.
And I know I was wrong, when I said it was true.
That it couldn't be me and be her in between without you.
Tumblr media
those lyrics are basically this image. i really like this random person's interpretation of the song cause its so accurate: "it's the story of a guy being in now stagnant relationship with a girl but pining for someone from the past that he parted ways with, now he's realizing that the current relationship couldn't work without this someone always getting in the way." it perfectly describes their love triangle.
i also want to add how the singer is talking about apologizing for saying the wrong thing to his current girlfriend (which is very mike wheeler core) but based on what we saw in the last episode, el isn't taking any of mikes shit! (good for her).
6. Lost Weekend - The So So Glos
ok so i actually love this song, i have it in my playlist lol and i never realized how much it applied to byler!! this song is generally about youth and growing up with someone.
You and I, riding high, in a landfill building castles.
castle byers, obviously and i'd like to think that mike and will spent a lot of time in their youth there together!
And we can't speak, cause we're in too deep.
We've grown up eighty-sixed and ended up like this.
clearly mike and will aren't willing to confess their love for each other (and this is sort of on the nose) because they're so deeply in love with one another. also, eighty-sixed is slang for being thrown out or discarded which could relate to mike and will being heavily bullied when they were younger (which is canon). and then they went to each other for comfort and continue to go to each other to this day.
anyways that's all of the analysis i have in me! even if this isn't true, it was still fun to look at the lyrics of these songs and try to figure out how they relate to byler lol (and if it is true then finn wolfhard is one bold man).

SHARING MY THOUGHTS ON SOMEONE:
Tumblr media
This is no hate at all, this is what you call sharing an opinion.
Hey!! Let me explain what this post is about. This post will be about an girl with the username "strangerthingslatingirl" on instagram. She is basically just an account that shares her thoughts on Stranger Things on instagram but she also told me that she likes to her other people their thoughts too so don't call me obsessed or toxic for making an whole post. I am just sharing my thoughts and showing why i disagree with alot of things that she said. Don't see this as hate.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let's start with these two posts that "strangerthingslatingirl" posted on instagram and let's focus on the caption.
The caption said: "People say that it has never been confirmed that Mike is straight just because he has never said especifically "I don't like boys"
They defend that Robin did especifically say "I don't like boys".
As we can see, people don't take obvious interpretation like a truth, they want to hear specific words from the characters. So, based on that logic, why do you talk about Will like he is 100 % gay considering he has never especifically said from his own mouth "I don't like girls"?.
Based on your logic, Will could be bisexual or even straight with no problem, but sure, you won't accept that. And I know people is gonna say that Mike already confirmed Will's sexuality when he said "it's not my fault you don't like girls" But, people, do you realize that Mike was the one who said it, NOT WILL. Will himself didn't confirm or deny it, he just stayed silent. Plus, when Mike said that line, I'm pretty sure he was referring that Will was still childish, nothing to do with his sexuality. So Will has never confirmed anything either, we all only assume he's gay because that's why we interpret (In S4 it's obvious he's gay, I know, but when it comes to Mike his straight orientation it's not obvious, you don't accept obvious interpretation with Mike, you need specific confimation)
See? You only ask for specific confimation when it suits you."
In my opinion, this caption makes 0 sense. Mike has never been confirmed straight which is an fact. The only proof mileven shippers have of Mike being straight is that he is dating an girl (El). We byler shippers will only believe that Mike was confirmed straight if it was confirmed in the show OR BY ACTORS/NETFLIX/THE DUFFER BROTHERS. Mike's sexuality has never been confirmed. Not by Noah, not by Finn, not by Netflix, not by The Duffer Brothers and not in the show, meanwhile Will has been confirmed gay many times. I find it a bit weird how you are using Will as an example because Noah literally said "it is now 100% clear he is gay and he does love Mike". WILL'S SEXUALITY WAS FULLY CONFIRMED, HE IS GAY, meanwhile Mike's sexuality was confirmed by no one. Not by the actors, not in the show..by no one.
It's also not obvious Mike is straight?? Him dating an girl doesn't confirm anything and it doesn't make it obvious that he is straight. Before i am going to continue talking, i wanna show a few other posts that "strangerthingslatingirl" has posted on her instagram account so i can also just share my thoughts on those posts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are also both posts "strangerthingslatingirl" has posted on her instagram account. The second picture says: "1.They would have to make Mike gay from overnight, because they have never hinted before that he could be bisexual or anything related to LGBTQ community."
That is the part i am going to focus on for now. Now i can say it about both posts. It isn't obvious Mike is straight and yes, Mike has been queercoded many times actually. I will not get too much into the hints since this isn't really an byler proof post or anything, but i'm just going to say which hints there are. The eyewitness hint, Mike's spotify playlist, In the closet at Rink-O-Mania, The Mike being jealous theory, An official Stranger Things Book saying Mike likes El/Will, Mike's internalized homophobia theory and so much more. If you want to see all those hints just go to @kaypeace21 's account, Go to uhbylerisreal's TikTok account, Read the 320+ byler proof master slides ect. Keep in mind that The Duffer Brothers love hinting at things with very small hints like small background details, the lyrics of songs in Stranger Things, parallels ect which was confirmed.
Doesn't matter if Mike being LGBTQ+ will be canon or not, It stays a fact that Mike has been queercoded because queercoded means that when it was hinted an character is LGBTQ+ and it is a fact there are actually many hints, if you like it or not. You probably just sadly didn't saw all the proof yet. 🤷‍♀️
Another thing that post says: "2.They would have to BREAK UP Mileven, and this is practically impossible, and I'm not saying this because I am a Mileven stan (I am actually), but I'm saying it because Mileven has been the main couple since S1 before Jopper, Lumax and Jancy even existed. Eleven is the main character of the show, so Mileven is obviously the main couple and their love only got stronger in every season. So breaking up Mileven would be really hard and it would take time."
Uhmm, alot of that is false actually. Mileven was only the main couple in Season 1, not in Season 2, Season 3 or Season 4. An main couple is an couple that is focused on the most, and in Season 2 there were almost no mileven scenes, It only focused on El finding out she can live without an boy, In almost every episode of Season 3 Mike and El were broken up and in Season 4 the california group only got a few scenes. The main couple was Lumax in season 4 while it once again showed El dealing with other stuff than boys and just because El is the main character doesn't mean Mileven is the main couple? that literally makes 0 sense?
Not to mention that Mileven's love is only getting more and more weak instead of stronger but mileven shippers will never ever realize this because all they focus on is mileven in the show and not all the proof. You should see the mileven monologue theories, the star-crossed lovers thing, the Mike giving El yellow flowers thing ect.
Tumblr media
Lastly, i want to share my thoughts on this picture that was also part of one of "strangerthingslatingirl" 's posts on instagram. (Stan the wileven pictures tho lol /platonic).
The picture says: "Recently, I saw a post of someone saying that she is afraid that The Duffers will make Byler endgame even if it doesn't make sense just to please all the people who are putting pressure on them. But I'm here to clear your minds. Stranger Things is a Netflix show, is a serious show, so even tho everything is fictional the plot and the characters MUST make sense. So, if the show still had at least two more seasons then The Duffers maybe would have time to develop the plot and the characters to make Byler endgame. But considering that the show only has it's last season (like 10 more episodes for the whole show) and considering that ST has A LOT of characters to develop, it's practically impossible to have time to develop something like Byler."
First of all, if you actually watched some interviews you would know that The Duffer Brothers said that they don't write things for their fans, they write things that feel good to write in their opinion so if byler will happen it's not because The Duffer Brothers want to please all the byler shippers, it's because byler made sense all along which it does. If you see all the byler proof and put it all together like an puzzle you'll admit byler makes alot of sense actually. Byler is actually already building up by the way? Noah himself said that byler is building up ("byler is just at it's peak right now! they're building that up!") and byler has been hinted (two-sided) since Season 1, before Mike even met El. You know what it is called when they give us so much hints that a queer ship is happening and it was confirmed very small hints are important but then it doesn't happen? It's what you call queerbaiting which they wouldn't do in such an popular show since queerbaiting is an actual sad, serious and bad thing to do and the show already has 4 canon LGBTQ+ characters so.
They have enough time to make byler endgame because all they have to do is break up mileven and make byler canon because byler has been hinted since season 1 episode 1.
These are just my thoughts, there is no need to attack me. 🤷‍♀️

Echo Home - from Will's Spotify playlist
Watch me slowly go insane over a song, and make many dubious jumps in logic to connect the lyrics to byler, even though it doesn't really tell us anything new...
A lot of this analysis you could argue is a reach, apart from this:
Tumblr media
So, in the album Ash & Ice by The Kills, there's a little symbol associated with each song. The one for Echo Home, in Will's official Spotify playlist, is - oh, look, a telephone.
Tumblr media
Specifically a blue telephone, which is double points for supporters of the colour theory. And where are (blue) telephones linked to Will in the show?
Tumblr media
That's right, at the end of season 3, and phone calls between Will and Mike are a central point of their s4 Rink-O-Mania argument. There's also the first ep of s1 when Will calls for help, but the lyrics of the song don't really fit. So I think it's safe to say the song is addressed from Will to Mike, and is likely in regards to the distance that grew between them in the year before March 1986. ("This past year [...] I feel like I lost you")
Side note: I love how the phone is a perfect symbol of their miscommunication issues.
Analysing the lyrics though this lens, there's a few interesting things that crop up (though it's entirely possible this song was selected purely due to the phone symbol, angsty vibes, and the fact it fits Will's music tastes):
"I'm flowing with the waters
I'm spinning into orbit
So won't you come on home
And make it alright
I'm drifting in the same old boat
With a different crew"
There's a strong sense the speaker is lost and listless, without a strong purpose/drive, because someone important to them is no longer in their life. They aren't able to move on, and think having that person back would make it all better (sound familiar?). The line "drifting in the same old boat/ With a different crew" is probably referring to the move to Cali - but again that Will doesn't feel like he's changed much internally.
The line "won't you come on home" or "won't you echo home" is repeated several times. I think it's really interesting that Will is asking Mike to come home when it's Will that moved away in the first place - it could suggest that Mike is the one that withdrew emotionally, and it also links to the weirdness around the concept of home with byler, like when Mike took Will 'home' to his basement in s2.
Okay, and this is more of a fun thought than a serious suggestion, but wouldn't it be cool if the lines
"And if I take a turn for the worst
And I call you on the phone
Will you echo home when I call
Won't you echo back and make it alright
Won't you echo home and make me fine"
were referring to Will calling Mike from Cali when he was struggling with the anniversary effect?
Alternative meaning: Mike's mental health issues?
Okay, this interpretation is a massive leap and less coherent (and even more depressing), but a couple lines had me thinking...
References to water, with mention of drifting in boats and the very first line "I'm flowing with the waters". That reminds me of Will's fake body floating in the quarry - which was very traumatic for Mike to see - and maybe something else that happened there....?
"And it's a long long long long drop/ From the rocks to the pearls, we got so lost [...] for so long" Yup. Mike's cliff jump, aka one of the top ten signs someone is Not Okay.
Tumblr media
This song could be about the moment Will finds out Mike nearly died when Will was in the Upside Down. Also, this line is about dropping 'from the rocks to the pearls', descension through ascension, (kind of the opposite of the famous Miles Morales falling upwards shot), and if you really wanted to relate it to byler it could suggest that Mike drops from being close with Will, or from homosexuality (seen as 'the rocks', lowest of the low, at the time), to heterosexuality when he dates El - it's seen as an acension or the right thing to do by society, but it only causes Mike conflict and confusion. Following on from that, the line "we got so lost [...] for so long" could show Mike feeling lost due to heteronormativity, or that Mike and Will had started to lose each other from s1 when Mike jumped off the quarry cliff.
"You can keep your own dear life
You can lose it all if you wanna
But I can't keep you out of mine, oh no"
This could be Will acknowledging that he can't stop Mike either from ending things with Will or even from ending his own life, but he also could never bear to let Mike go.
Bonus references:
"We were dancing to a beat of our own/ Flying with our speakers blown". Could link to Mike and Will dancing to a (homosexual) beat of their own in younger years, before societal expectations and comphet drove a wedge between them. Also could relate to Mike/Will 'flying around with all the other fairies' as Troy puts it, just as Mike flew when El saved him from jumping off the cliff.
"Maybe you went out of your mind" Crazy together reference, anyone?
I apologise in the very likely case that someone has said some of the exact same things!

i think 2 main things could’ve been done better in s3 to put will in a better situation in s4 in regards to allowing him to move on and have a non-mike related romance plot.
the first being having a conversation with jonathan after his breakdown in 3x03. i always found it incredibly annoying that will and jonathan have conversations in s1 and 2 where jonathan reassures him that it’s okay to be different and like different things than other people but not in the season where will was explicitly struggling the the most with that and the isolation it causes. they don’t actually talk at all in s3 and i think a moment where jonathan somehow finds out that will had a meltdown and destroyed his safe-place would’ve been helpful to push will’s arc forwards. obviously will in s3 wasn’t necessarily ready to deal with his problems, and he couldn’t have some rapid change in the span of a few days, but jonathan coming to him and giving him a little talk like he usually does would’ve been good i think.
the second thing is that i think they should’ve had an actual reconciliation between will and mike in s3 after their fight. their fight at rink-o-mania in s4 hit the exact same beats because they never resolved that conflict in s3 and had to rehash it in order to mend their relationship in “dear billy”. the whole “i was maybe focusing too much on el and i lost you but we can work together moving forwards as best friends” would’ve been a conversation that could’ve been perfectly effective after their s3 fight considering the show pivots back to the supernatural plot after 3x03 and that could’ve been where they were “working together”. (it may have allowed will to be more active in the MF plot too but who knows.) i think it would’ve given will some good perspective onto his relationship with mike at that point and he may not have spent so much time stuck in and questioning those unresolved feelings.
those two things still wouldn’t have rushed will’s overall arc imo, and they could’ve given him a better opportunity to move on by the time s4 came around now that will is finally out to himself. maybe those feelings for mike in s3 could’ve been made into a passing comment in s4 about his way of figuring himself out or whatnot. now we’re unfortunately going into s5 with will being backed into a corner romance-wise. i don’t think it’ll actually take anything that significant for him to move on, and i think b*l*rs who insist will can’t move on in a single season (especially if there’s a time jump) make no sense, but it upsets me that it’s hard to know how much narrative weight they’d be willing to give will with a new love interest in a satisfying way.
Yeah anon I generally agree with all your points. If I'm honest, and I know that this might make some shippers extremely angry, I think the reason the rink o mania fight hits the same beats as their fight in season 3 is that the season 3 fight wasn't written with the idea of Will being into Mike in mind. I think it's definitely something that they had considered at that point, as shown in the original season 2 finale script, but I think by season 3 they could have gone either way with Will's story. Otherwise I feel like they would have hammered home the idea of Will being jealous of El much harder in season 3 - like, showing us Will specifically thinking of Mike when he destroys the fort, instead of showing the entire party as they did.
I don't want to imply the Duffers make shit up in the fly because I don't think that's fair, but as showrunners they seem to be really flexible in the way they allow the story to develop (Robin being gay, Steve's character becoming as important as he did, etc). And I honestly think Will's storyline is not enough of a priority to them that they had plotted it out carefully to go about it in the best, most satisfying way. I believe they always planned for Will to be gay, but him being into Mike was something they didn't feel super strongly about but decided to incorporate because they knew fans would like it and it was an easy way to showcase his story (if I'm super cynical, I'd add that it was also a way to have Will be gay without actually writing a gay romance and pissing off homophobes in the audience; but I will give them the benefit of the doubt here). Like Will's plot just doesn't wrap up in season 3 at all, and I don't think it was intentional, I think it was a writing failure because they cared more about other storylines and characters. I think you're absolutely right, a scene with Jonathan would have done so much for that plot. It could have been a more edited version of the conversation they have in season 4, to be honest - not explicitly addressing Will's sexuality but making it clear that it's not a problem to his brother that he "doesn't like girls". That way, season 4 could have progressed Will's journey a lot further.
And yes, I 100% agree B*l*rs are talking out of their asses when they say it's impossible for Will to move on in one season. Like Will is fifteen years old and he has never even had a first kiss. There's so much that he can still experience romantically that is bound to make a huge impact on him and that, imo, would make him forget about Mike entirely.
