re your notes on the latest 666 update: are you saying if alastor had pressured him for longer he could have convinced vox to "switch out his equipment"? making the whole experience uncomfortable at best and extremely dysphoric/potentially traumatic for him? damn that's one depressing thought... thank somebody alastor's sadism doesn't manifest aimlessly
Not exactly, but mostly because Vox wasn't lying about it not being physically possible to just swap shit out like that. I think that if Alastor was a very different kind of person, then he has the emotional leverage over Vox to be able to wheedle, browbeat, and "oh, it's not that big of a deal, no need to be dramatic" Vox into second-guessing himself and making concessions on his gender presentation that he would be deeply uncomfortable with. The fact is, Vox is drawing this boundary, but drawing a boundary and being able to firmly back it up to the face of someone you're deeply, obsessively in love and finally, finally getting a chance with when you've also spent the last many, many years in a second toxic relationship as your "normal" are two different things. And he almost immediately oscillates about comproming on the boundary before Alastor even says anything before outright asking Alastor to just tell him that he doesn't have to.
But Vox being able to do one of them and then not having to do the second is, in fact, still a very helpful thing for him to have happen!
