I mean , you can sit there and write a ten page essay on all the reasons you hate Daenerys, you're entitled to that and your opinion. But it doesn't change the fact that your personal favourites are any less problematic than she is. These characters live in an era and universe with social standards that we no longer abide by or view as acceptable. More so, these characters do not live in a time frame that catered to the needs of minorities. These characters live in an era and universe of very few revolutionary triumphs and their version of revolutionary is large rebellions that result in constant war. What does that tell you? These people are barbaric, they condone slavery, trading and selling humans for marriage as they're considered assets for military gain. Women and children are raped/tortured/murdered. Women are objectified. And pedophilia is normalized. Among many other wildly inappropriate customs, from what we know to be normal. Let's be honest here. No character on Game of Thrones has an angelic moral compass (except Podrick; you're doing amazing sweetie). These are not overly righteous people, and their society is much different than ours. So of course we're gunna be disgusted by Daenerys racist undertones, and Jorahs more than questionable attraction/love for a 13 year old girl (S1). Do we like that people are publicly beheaded or shamed for dishonour, treason and even homosexuality... no??? But this is how it was in the Medieval era, in their universe AND ours, this is how society used to work. And no television network, no author, no person in their right mind is going to pretend that that Era was one of good morals. It sucks, and it's hard to watch at times. And as much as I respect that a person is entitled to an opinion , as much as I am right now, I don't get the point of pretending that one character is really any shittier than the other. They are all kinda scum in their own way (minus a couple people who wouldn't even hurt a fly). Ya feel?
