Hiiii i was wondering if you could give your opinions on the corayne x andry ship? Its because i actually think its kinda cute but at the same time not that well developed but most people seem to absolutely HATE it and i would like to hear someone else's opinion on them? 😊

OKAY so my take on this is a hot one, kinda boiling I guess.

If you read my live reading you can see that I'm personally not a fan of the ship. The main reason being that Andry sort of annoys me. XD Which I know sounds sacrilegious, and I'll let the stans enter the chat to cancel me in a moment, but I low key don't like characters who spend the majority of the time just despairing over things like he does. He just sort of grinds my gears with his thoughts. He also really didn't serve much of the plot in Blade Breaker other than to be this person who is just thinking about Corayne and despairs over how he is no longer a perfect squire. I felt as if his chapters could have gone to better use (*cough cough Ridha cough cough*). So I'm not his biggest fan which is know is sad cause I kinda liked him in book 1.

The ship is cute, I'll give it that. It's clearly a friends to lovers type thing, and in that regard its very sweet. I guess I just feel like there was no chemistry at first and it was just: welp, there are these two young people in close proximity might as well put 'em together. WHICH IS LITERALLY WHAT SHE DID WITH KILORNxCAMERON and notice how that shit died a death so quick we all fucking blinked and missed it after people were like: lol what the fuck? to it in War Strom. I guess I felt like it was sort of forced in Realm Breaker, and then it was definitely forced at the beginning of Blade Deal Breaker.

I'm probably not the best person to talk about Deal Breaker right now though. I'm still incredibly petty over it, and just have a lot of thoughts. I like Annie's idea of Corayne getting to have a girlfriend. SPOILERS: Victoria killed off one of the only wlw lesbian characters in the series and so I am here now to demand more from her. Her LGBTQIA kill count is suspiciously high, and I fear it may get higher in book 3 (*side eyes Erida nervously*).

I'm not a fan of a potential Corayne x Andry ship because it's like we're to assume they’re a thing only because they're the two teeenagers (m/f) together on a quest. Apart from a little crushing on Andry's side, I detect no chemistry. TBH, I hope Andry finds another love interest and that Corayne is queer. But the next books can always evolve in the romantic aspect and I like the first book has little obvious romance (besides the villain romance and the vague potential of Sorasa x Dom, my fave ship so far). We're just so used to obvious romance in YA novels I can’t help thinking there must be one like Corayne x Andry but I’d be glad if Aveyard went a different route - or makes Corayne x Andry a well-developed slow-burn also because Corayne is EG demisexual/aspec and takes longer to fall in love and I desperate need better aro-ace spectrum representation.

Though Aveyard also likened Andry to Kilorn (while the comparisons made me cringe because the characters of both series shouldn’t be put into the same boxes like that, it does Aveyard a disservice) so maybe he is mainly supposed to be Corayne’s friend as well?

to my sexy followers who read Realm Breaker⚔️, pls send me your opinions anonymously or comment on this post idk and tell me, what are your thoughts on the Corayne x Andry ship?? I just want to know if I'm alone on this or not bc this is my only issue with the book. I said it in my og reaction and the more I think about it, the more it bothers me. Corayne, being such an intellectual, morally solid, kind character, and Andry being such a wholesome, kind, morally righteous character (basically the same) don't complement each other as a romantic pair. They work amazingly as besties, but the moment their interactions hint at romance it sort of stunts the characters' entertainment value (at best, they become a snooze fest). Corayne is so mature and organized she needs a more chaotic, spontaneous partner, and Andry needs a prince someone a bit more morally grey to challenge them. Also, Corayne as aro/ace or simply single by the end of the story works wonderfully. The same can't be said for Andry bc of mainstream media's tendency to rob black characters of romantic storylines with happy endings. Idk I just wanted to put it out there before Blade Breaker drops and goes wherever it goes.

Realm Breaker reading part 4 📖

I couldn't put the book down after chapter 15 so this will be a bit of a mess lol

Ch 16: Sorasa is the mf boss. This part reminded me a lot of playing stealth missions on Assassins Creed. I keep wondering what happened to her, maybe her heart was too big for her to work for this Mercury dude?

Ch 17-18-19: Andry baby it's going to be fine I promise 🥺🥺 he just wanted to go with his mom 🤧 When Dom was looking at him I just wanted to wrap my smallest boy in a blanket and let him take a long nap: "And still dutifully trudging forward, without even a flicker of hope to light the way." I feel so soft toward him 🤧

also... ehem... did anybody else feel a shit ton bit of sexual tension when Sorasa was stitching Dom up? 😏😏😏 it's the muscles and the protectiveness of his newly adopted kids girly.

I suspected the Corayne x Andry romance was coming *sighs* fine. I hate this trope but whatever

Realm Breaker reading part 6/ last part 📖

Ok if this live reading was a mess after chapter 15, after ch 20 it's pure chaos. I barely stopped to take notes, bc I seriously couldn't find a good moment to put the book down.

Ch 21: Sorasa's backstory mystery is driving me up the wall. I NEED to know why is she "fallen, forsaken, broken" like yesterday. what was the need for that? it hurts like a mf and she just shrugs it off. She deserves the universe wtf. Don't know a better woman

Not Dom LITERALLY laying his life at Sorasa's feet to find Corayne. when I tell you I gasped 💔💔 that was the price?? I thought they had talked about MONEY this is so rude. the angst, the drama, the tragedy, THEY'RE KILLING ME FUCK THIS CHAPTER

ch 22-23-24: Andry providing some free therapy to his pals. relatable king.

I dig this little pirate town's aesthetic and Charlie is cool and all but as an addition to the crew is confusing but I guess it'll make sense later.

later came and Sigil is here, ready to kick ass. Tabern brawl scene 10/10 and Andry sleeping during that 20/10.

ch 25: I'M GOING FERAL. NO BRAINCELLS LEFT. I can't I just can't. I love Erida so much I can't even talk about it, it's disgusting 😭

I can only say: A) those 10k men marching to their deaths aint special, I would walk to my death any day of the week for her. Give me a toothpick and a water bottle and I'll conquer the realm in her name. B) Ronin you absolute cockblock get your pasty ass out of there.

This is the chapter that officially turns me into an Eristan shipper. Oh and the spindles look cool as heck... or maybe look isn't the appropriate word? bc these are letters on a page? idk I think they're neat. y'all get what I mean.

ch 26-27: the Corayne x Andry agenda persevering... in being the most unseasoned dish on the menu 😐 they don't compliment each other at all. They're both kind, wholesome, scared yet brave, too-serious-for-their-age characters.

The alternative title for this book should be "The many misadventures of an immortal grump" like I haven't been Dom's biggest fan so far but the guy deserves a break. I'm starting to warm up to him if only bc he gets mauled every other chapter lmao.

Ch 28: The brown folks's city has better infrastructure and organization without whites getting their grubby hands all over it, as it should be 💅

Sigil bounty hunting, as she should.

Ch 29: Ridha is still kickin all across the map and setting up the scene for the sequel. I really liked the boy king and his bear. Can we see more of him pls 🥺👉👈

Ch 30-31: HOW LONG DID SORASA KEEP THAT THERE??? since she hasn't lost her arm to an infection I'm going to assume not long but damn girl... 🤢

RIP the realm, but if the way to stopping the apocalypse is through SNAKES you can bet your sweet ass the world is ending because I COULD NEVER get in there. I had a horrible time reading that. -100/10 would not recommend 🤢🤢🤢 my skin crawled every second. Anxiety levels through the roof.

Thank you Corayne for stopping that nonsense, I felt physically relieved after she closed the Spindle... uh it's almost as if that was the point.

CHAPTER 32: Eristan truly said "fuck them kids". God I love them.
