Friends to Lovers Tournament: Round 1, Side A, Match 4
Tumblr media Tumblr media
propaganda under the cut!
Rahulanjali:
THE ULTIMATE FRIENDS TO LOVERS!!! college best friends, incredible banter and competitiveness and teasing. mutual pining and a SLOW burn (like over 9 years). their chemistry in every way is through the roof, and honestly rahul’s line “pyaar dosti hai” / “(romantic) love is friendship” defined my perspective on love and i’m sure it did for a lot of the south asian kids who grew up with this movie
Dexer:
Waaaaaahahhhhhh they're so adorable. They have the sweetest, most caring relationship. They've been friends for 10 years now, since they've been 8. They really love each other. A problem they're dealing with is the homophobia of the 80s, and they support and stand up for each other. My phone autocorrects their names into all capital letters because I yell about them so much haha

having a bollywood encyclopedia for a mom:
her greeting me when i come back from school (but with an empty plate)
Tumblr media
me watching spin and saying that the dad is the guy from znmd and she giving me abhay deol's first movie, best movie according to her and family tree.
making me watch mohabbatein with her which is in her top 5 srk movies and reciting every. fucking. line.
everytime i left for a school trip and when my cousin sister went to uk for college: tussi ja rahe ho? tussi na jao
naming every star who came in deewangi deewangi
one of the few people aware that anjali khanna in kkhh is played by the same person who played tanya in soty
she can name every movie srk and kajol have done together
when i came out to her, she asked what made me realise it. i said that in kkhh why would i have a crush on srk when kajol and rani are right there! she goes "Adu, i don't care if you're bi i'm perfectly fine with that. but don't you dare insult shahrukh ok-"
makes a filmy reference every chance she gets. like me and my dad were discussing superheroes and she starts singing "koi hero yaha, koi zero yaha!"
has made me watch all of her favourite 90s movies
she has personalised ringtones for everyone and they're all bollywood songs. mere ghar aayi ek nanhi pari for me (🥺), raabta for my dad, maa ka phone aaya for my paati, yaaron by kk for her childhood friends etc etc
the first movie my mom took me and later my brother for in theaters were bollywood movies (om shanti om and dilwale).
her phone cover literally says "my brain is 90% bollywood lyrics"

ANJALI MODY FOUNDER & CREATIVE HEAD OF JOSMO STUDIO
Mody spent a part of her childhood in Goa but moved here permanently at the age of 31, when she and her husband wanted a slower pace of life and found Goa to be the perfect place to foster their personal and professional growth. She launched Josmo Studio soon after, and today, she runs Goa’s premier furniture studio with 85 employees, a 6,000sqft store and a 30,000sqft manufacturing facility. She currently resides in her family home in Nerul with her husband and twin babies. “When I lived in Mumbai, the pace of the city had control over me, but here it’s the opposite,” she says, despite still working 12 hour days through the week. She takes regular breaks, sometimes heading to the beach in the middle of the week, while on other days she switches off her phone. “Goa is grounded in the elements and we’re lucky to be surrounded by beaches, forests and waterfalls,” says Mody. “I always envisioned bringing up my kids around nature and trees and mud, close to the earth. Goa did that for me and I hope it does the same for my kids.”
Her Goa: Mody’s newly-revamped store in Porvorim has something for every home. She recommends trekking to old Goa to see the ruins and old churches, as well as to the waterfalls which flourish in the rainy season. “Adventure seekers should explore that aspect of Goa. Twice every monsoon, I arm-twist my friends and family into packing a picnic and heading to a waterfall. It’s simply splendid.” Vsit Isprava to read more.

Building Trust in a Global Economy - Key Takeaways from 2022 YPO EDGE
Tumblr media
With a membership of over 30,000 business executives, YPO is one of the largest leadership communities in the world. The organization was founded in 1950 to help members become better leaders in their professional and personal lives. YPO members can enhance their professional knowledge and skills through local chapters, global networks, and online forums. Since its founding, YPO has also developed partnerships with Harvard and other prestigious institutions to deliver high-value business learning programs. In addition to these learning opportunities, members have access to various YPO events, including the group's flagship conference, YPO EDGE.
In 2022, over 2,700 YPO members from more than 80 countries gathered in New York City for the first in-person EDGE conference since 2019. The three-day event took place November 2-4 and included discussions with major figures from business, government, sports, and other areas.
The opening night of the conference featured a discussion with Larry Summers, former United States secretary of the treasury under President Bill Clinton. Along with other government and business leaders, including Vimeo CEO Anjali Sud and former NATO Supreme Allied Commander James Stavridis, Summers discussed ways for executives to navigate the changing economic landscape affected by supply chain issues, rising food prices, rising energy prices, and inflationary pressures. The discussion also touched on geopolitical issues influencing global business.
On day two of the event, the global theme continued with a presentation by Parag Khanna, FutureMap managing partner and founder and CEO of Climate Alpha. Khanna highlighted the necessity for today's business leaders to be aware of geopolitical issues, geoeconomics, and geotechnology. Retired Marine Corps General James Mattis also reiterated the importance of understanding the connection between global politics, economics, and business.
In addition to globalism, trust was a major theme of the day's discussions. Harvard Business School Professor Frances Frei cited Walmart and Microsoft as examples of companies that have found success by building trust in the workplace. Likewise, TikTok CEO Shou Chew emphasized the importance of building trust among his tech company's employees, users, stakeholders, and policymakers.
The final day of the conference expanded on the importance of trust and related it to ethical leadership and corporate responsibility. One of the highlights of the day was a discussion with Nobel laureate and Rappler CEO Maria Ressa, who discussed the negative impact of media disinformation and ways business leaders can address the issue and the harm it causes. She urged attendees to think of their responsibility as extending beyond their shareholders to include the everyday citizens of the world affected by untrustworthy information ecosystems and their effects on democratic institutions.
YPO EDGE 2022 also featured discussions with Olympic gold medalist Eileen Gu, former presidential advisor David Axelrod, and New York Stock Exchange President Lynn Martin. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in masterclasses, workshops, and in-depth learning forums covering a wide range of topics, including making a work-life balance, connecting profit and purpose, and building inclusive workplaces. YPO EDGE will return to New York City in 2023 and 2024, and the organization invites all YPO members to attend. For more information, visit www.ypo.org.
