It's so wild seeing people call Ben an "abuser" and feeling disgusted that a show would romanticize him.

Like... that's an extreme take. I feel like they've skipped quite a few steps to get to that point.

Some of y'all give Margot way too much credit. Yes, she got Ben to respect her and to value art (and art helped him cope with his stress), and to not worry so much about his grades. But I honestly feel like she was only able to do it because he had already grown quite a bit by the time she met him. He was already more open to respecting other people's intelligence thanks to Fabiola and Paxton, and he was already a little more relaxed because of his conversation with Paxton, and most importantly, his conversation with his dad. Margot isn't some super girl who got Ben to calm down in a way that no other girl could achieve. And she also wasn't the first non-Devi person to get him to respect her intelligence.

Also, for the people who claim that Devi was more vulnerable with Paxton than she was with Ben - Oh like the time she moved into Paxton's house after she had that huge argument with her mother in season 1? Oh wait, that's not what happened, is it? Devi almost always tried her best to downplay her emotions with Paxton. For example, as soon as she says that she feels like everyone in her life is done with her, she asks him to forget she said that, and that it was weird. And his response is to kiss her. How is that a sign of great emotional intelligence? I think Paxton had some really wise moments, but I honestly don't think he's so much more mature than Ben or Devi (as some people claim). They had their fair share of wise moments too. And all three of them had their own flaws. Paxton is just less obviously off-putting than Ben and Devi. I mean I'm not put off by them, but I'm talking about the people who might dislike their "mean" or "crazy" sides.

not gonna lie, it cracks me out that daxtons are like “they can never copy the iconic window scene!” but the thing is, do they even know that the show isn’t trying to “copy” their ship but trying to make narrative parallels?? the fact both scenes take place on 2x09 (before prom) and 4x09 (after prom) means it was intentional. They’re aiming to illustrate the differences in each relationship by having them execute a similar moment that ends very differently (and i have a theory about the 409 benvi scene being a emotionally heavy moment).

A lot of the scenes between benvi x daxton that are similar are supposed to BE similar because that’s a common narrative tool when exploring narrative differences in love triangles.

Sometimes i feel like people complain and act like they haven’t seen typical media devices before.

I totally get being upset over your ship not getting the endgame. The universe knows I've been there lots of times and it's no fun, lol. But to reduce a whole, complex show with well-handled subject matters so important such as grief (and different coping mechanisms), friendship, teenage insecurities, family and coming-of-age processes to such a small thing is kinda sad, unfair, and frankly a bit pathetic.

Degrading and trashing a good show just because its writers didn't make your romantic fantasy canon is on another level of childish. It's fiction guys, grow up a little and move on.

Controversial but the d*xton kiss in ep7 makes sense. Devi was sad about Princeton. Like Paxton said, almost desperate, it makes it much sense that she looked for comfort in the past, aka Paxton. He's finally her equal, and she feels like he gets what it feels to fail. But after the kiss, she realized that the past is the past, even if it was a comfortable one

Completely unrelated to South Park, but I cannot tell you guys just how excited I am for the fourth and final season of Never Have I Ever, which drops this Thursday (June 8th)!!!

I've been #TeamBen from the very first season, so I hope Benvi prevails in the end and that my favorite couple finally ends up together for good. However, I'm also being cautiously optimistic about everything and I hope I won't end up being disappointed just like I was with the second season.

Ben never moved on from Devi. Devi never moved on from Ben. They dated other people to distract themselves from each other, but they were always drawn to each other.

In the end, there wasn't a choice. There was only Ben for Devi and Devi for Ben. You don't have to like it, but that's how it is.

I saw some fic that had Paxton wanting to give Devi a better sexual experience after learning about how bad her first time with Ben was. This is hilarious for two reasons:

A) It makes Paxton look really bad. He would never act that entitled about how it should have been him instead of Ben. He's too sweet.

B) The whole attempt to frame Ben and Devi's first time being mediocre, as a bad thing is ridiculous! It was the sweetest thing in the world that neither of them cared at all about how bad it was. They were only worried about the other person not liking it. They were both so clearly excited to be with each other, and it was only their insecurities that got in the way. It was actually better than if their first time had been perfect - much cuter and more realistic.

i don’t think the writers will revive a d/p romance either because season 3 did a good job closing that relationship and the triangle by having devi admit to paxton he was a dream and because usually when devi “ends” with someone it always goes back to one of the guys to signify the triangle. on s1, while she was kissing ben, we saw paxton calling her and leaving a voicemail. on s2, while she danced w paxton at prom, eleanor was telling ben “it’s not always been him” and that devi wanted to chose him. but on s3, devi has that “no stomach knots” moment for paxton while having them with ben. keeps looking at ben while he leaves w paxton right in front of her. they had that conversation w devi admitting he was a dream that helped her through her grief and after deciding to stay at sherman oaks w her family and friends. she goes to ben. and that’s where it ends. we never see paxton. that’s the final choice. devi choses ben. even if she doesn’t know that herself yet.

i think lang was doing the marketing thing and not closing the door on dxtons but to me he is very aware that there’s not use on reviving a romance that ended pretty well and this doesn’t seem like a mindy thing either.

i firmly believe that closet scene is the only one they have that can tease something for the fans on the promos but i have a suspicious that it will be the definitive closure with them having an almost kiss but stopping because they know there’s nothing there to hold onto the future. I think paxton will also be the push that devi needs to admit her feelings for ben and to stop running from that relationship commitment.

I agree!! It doesn't make sense to revisit their romance since it doesn't actually bring anything to the table re: their individual growth journeys anymore. They've already learned everything they needed from each other.

All of your points are so accurate and true! It's classic dream vs reality. Pxton vs Ben. At this point - since season 2, really - it's been clear that Ben was always Devi's true choice.

I'd seen a few predictions about Devi briefly dating Pxton again in season 4, so I wasn't sure if this was an unpopular opinion or not. But I certainly hope we're right about this, anon!
