hotd episode 5 thoughts
rip rhea royce, you seemed cool so even though i knew your death was coming i’m a bit sad about it. at least you got to bully daemon before the end.
loved that we got to see larys strong do a bit of scheming and i am quite excited to see where his character will go.
house velaryon and driftmark seem extremely cool, hope we do end up getting a spin-off about them someday.
corlys i am TRYING to stan you but trying to marry off your daughter at 12 and saying your gay son “will grow out of it” is not great behavior.
i do love that rhaenys and corlys are a total power couple who clearly respect and love each other a lot.
i liked the the scene of rhaenyra and laenor walking on the beach and forming their alliance/friendship very much since i’ve always interpreted them as being friends.
i’m glad we got to see some of the relationship between laenor and joffrey before things went south, they seemed really good together and i do wish they had gotten their life of a king consort and his sworn bodyguard.
of the different rumors surrounding rhaenyra and criston cole’s falling-out i have always thought the one where he suggested they run away together and she turned him down made the most sense so i’m glad they went with that one.
i also appreciated that his bitterness towards her is not just “criston’s crush doesn’t like him as much as he likes her” but also his sense of ruined honor.
i Do Not Trust grand maester mellos, something is up with that man. please stop with the leeches i swear to god.
the velaryons entering the wedding was ICONIC, they are legends, they are the moment, i love them.
it was nice seeing seasmoke and meleys but where! is! vhagar!
lyonel strong remains the only person on this show with common sense.
daemon showing up to rhaenyra’s wedding feast despite being in exile was legendary, i expected no less.
also rhaenyra being mean to him when they were dancing and throwing his words back at him was excellent.
alicent entering the feast in her green dress and calling rhaenyra “stepdaughter” was such a power move i literally cannot wait for her villain era.
that wedding was So Fucking Stressful even though i knew going in roughly what was going to happen i was on the edge of my seat.
oh joffrey, if only you were not so good at sussing out who is sleeping together and criston could be normal about his break-up things might have had a much happier ending :(
was hoping we would get more than the few harwin strong crumbs that we did buuuut it seems like he’ll be important in episode 6.
i’m going to miss milly alcock and emily carey but i cannot WAIT to see emma d’arcy and olivia cooke, they are going to absolutely kill it

Jonsa and Jonerys
I can't speak for other people, but I don't ship Sansa and Jon because i think they will blindly fall in love with each other, I don't even want that. I'm not even saying how their love is right now. Of course I love the parallels with Ned and Cat (best couple in the Seven Kingdoms), I do believe in the theory about Lady Ashford, and other stuff. But Got/asoiaf is not a show/book made for ships. It's not Disney nor Nicholas Sparks' love story. So let me explain how I see these things. I read the books (no, this does not make anyone better than anyone), I watched every damn season, and yes in my shame I read those leaks (not my fault, if D&D and George won't feed me, i'll find who will). And what I see it's a mess about the ship thing, especially with Jonsa and Jonerys. Someone could say that the incest thing is disgusting and they would be right, if you think with the head of someone in our time and most of the cultures. This is not the case. So let's think about how the incest in the westerosi culture it's seen. A relationship between a brother and a sister is not welcome in all the nobles houses, but the Targaryens, they're okay with this, but the other house aren't neither the Faith of the Seven, and this is part of the downfall of the dragon house. First the most obvious thing, they wouldn't make alliances, look to what Cat's father did, he wedded his two daughters with powerful lords that created a tie between the North (Stark) and the Riverlands (Tully), and the Vale (Arryn) with them as well. Three powerful families, three kingdoms together. A marriage between cousins, it's accept in all Westeros. Famous couples? Tywin Lannister wedded his cousin, Joanna Lannister, and they had three kids. Ned's parents were cousins, four children they had. Lysa intended to wed her son Robin with her niece Sansa. It's pretty normal. Hosnetly I don't know too much about a wedding between uncle/aunt and niece/nephew is seen in WESTEROS, it isn't common there. The only case outside the Targaryen that I know, was between Sansa Stark (other), who was Lady of Winterfell, with her uncle Jonnel Stark, and even though we can't know if was consumed, since they didn't had any children. So if it's not a sibling marriage / relationship, Westeros would probably be ok with. Obviously they despite this, see their reactions when they heard about Cersei and Jaime or Targaryens in general. They're not a family well loved by the people they used to rule. "A Targaryen cannot be trusted, nor a Lannister", this was said in the episode 2 of this season by the Lord Yohn Royce, who is a respected and honorable man (at least in the books). Jon and Sansa are cousins. "But they were raised like siblings" you would said. And I'm like "and this matter why?". Honey, when a match is made they usually sent the girl to the family of her future husband. Like? Myrcella was sent to Dorne, when she was supposed to marry a Marttel. Sansa would been sent to King's Landing even her father wouldn't went to be the Hand of the King. Stannis' grandmother who was a Targaryen princess was sent to the Stormlands when she was betrothed to the heir of Baratheon. I not even saying that Jon and Sansa would like the idea at the begging, but they would be Ned and Cat 2.0, yes they would. And I think it's beautiful. I like the fact that they didn't have any interaction in the books (only memories of each other), not yet anyway. Jonerys is also a possibility, but not much. Why? Daenerys is barren. And this is so fucking important, because of the heritage. It's like works their system, the child inherit their parents lands and titles. If she marrys Jon, then there's no heir, the House Targaryen would be dead. "Didn't you read that chapter?? She definitely will have a child". Guys, don't you think this is to happy? The thing she miraculously will get pregnant?! Because honestly I think it's to be optimistic. Don't get me wrong, I like Danny. I really do, but this is Got. Think. She shouldn't be considered to be queen, at least not without a heir (or a possibility, considering that they don't know about Rhaegar's child). Note that I said heir and not a child. "She would make a great Queen" I not saying that she wouldn't be. I'm not here to judge characters, if it's good or evil. I'm just thinking about the incest in Westerosi culture. Not to mention that Dany will (probably) die during the Battle of the Dawn. There's the prophecies she head in the second season, remember? She is in the Iron throne's hall and it's snowing, meaning the winter has come, she almost touch the throne that belonged to her family, but her attention is taken by the Wall, (WW), and she enters in a dorthraki tent, Drogo and Rhaego are there. But this is just a theory based on a vision she had. A prophecy? Maybe. Like Melisandre said, "prophecies are dangerous things". If Jonsa happen, I would be happy. But I wouldn't be devastated if they don't. I just think they would be the king and queen that Westeros will need to heal. And fulfill their dreams of having a child of their own, rebuilding their family. But who knows? Only George and D&D, and they'll not say a word about it. For those who are not please with any of these POSSIBILITIES, get used to, it's season 7, it happens. But you have all rights to not enjoy. Maybe we're (shippers) all wrong. Again this is not a show made for ship. I don't know about you, but see theories was the thing that made me ship them. Spoiler Alert (leaks) I don't think the North nor the Vale will like that Jon bend the knee, or the sex thing, or the R+L=J, if they ever found out (I think they will). But they are in emergency with the great treat that the Night King represents, and also Cersei and Euron. I just fear the North might loose the Vale, because of Dany. I hope not. They must put these things aside to protect themselves, to have a chance to survive. P.S. : if you read until here, forgive me for the long text and my bad english. I tried.
